It feels impossible for me to adequately put into words what Phoenix Rising and their staff means to me. It’s been 9 months since I arrived there, totally broken, hopeless, scared, sick, sad, and ashamed. I was on the verge of death, either by suicide or my failing health due to my addiction and total breakdown. And now, I have hope, I have sobriety, and my life back.
Their program is so special and so well rounded. They think outside of the box with their treatment and make mindful accommodations when necessary. Aside from the usual offerings of therapy, trauma work, 12 step meetings and sober fun days outside of the facility, there is meditation and sound baths, misc outings (hello mani pedi day and softball) and hiking, beautiful pools to swim in, art therapy, writing therapy, and so much more. You learn the science and psychology of addiction, trauma and recovery. You are fed delicious food. Most importantly, you are surrounded by a staff who cares so much. Whomever is responsible for their hiring has a true gift for choosing the right people.
If you’re reading this and wondering, please go. Go to this safe, healing place. Go with an open heart, open mind, and willingness. Save yourself. Save your life. Heal. Learn. Grow.
Thank you Genevieve, for being the incredible backbone of the facility. Thank you Candice, for being my mama goose- for your warm hug and telling me “you’re home now. You’re safe” as I exited the car crying and defeated on my arrival. Thank you Brie, Chelsi, Jordan, Meditation Mark, and Michelle. I remember and cherish you all. I’m so thankful for you. I’m doing well guys!!! I’m hiking and dreaming and working and cherishing all the things I love!!! I am alive.

Rancho Mirage, California | The Kiloby Center for Recovery is now closed. While in operation, it was located in Rancho Mirage, California. They were a residential treatment center with typical lengths of stay ranging between 30 and 90 days. Their approach to addiction treatment was based on using mindfulness and meditation to address spiritual elements of recovery. They bille | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I went to Kiloby for 6 months. the work they do at the center is very rewarding and changed my life. With that being said, it is a smaller treatment center with a small number of staff which results in a disorganized feeling to the program and a LOT of repeat groups which got very boring. Plus a lot of time is spent sitting around doing 'self support' because they don't have enough staff to run groups and do one on one sessions at the same time. And don't be fooled when you hear them say this is not a 12 step program; 12 step meetings are MANDATORY. and one last thing: I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEIR SOBER LIVING... unless you like sleeping in very cheap bunk beds and tight quarters with upwards of 8-9 people at a time. I am not saying I don't think this is a good program, because it is and I got a lot out of it but I think there is a lot of room for improvement from Kiloby. Give it a try if you want to try something different that really gets to the core of your issues.
Update, 5 years later: After re-reading my review, and the reviews of others who have left a rating, I truly think The Kiloby Center deserves at least a 4-4.5 Star rating. On reflection, the work I did here changed my life more than any of the other programs I've been to. The comments I made about the sober living seem so trivial now.. I can honestly say, for a smaller treatment center, Kiloby did their best and still managed to make a bigger impact on my life than any other 'rehab'/program. I can't say thank you enough. this place gave me an entirely new point of view.

WORST PLACE "EVER' -kicked out for another client threatening to 'Kick my Teeth in, for " disrespecting' (which I did not) & instead of retaliating, &/or reacting negatively, I went to 'Mrs. Jenn' to let her know, -As we have Sun., meeting's, & Mrs. Jenn, has told us, 'Violence/Threats' etc..., Is a ZERO TOLERANCE & 'U will be discharged' no doubt. Yet, when I went to her about this, & included that Mrs. Jenn' s sister (whom lives in the house also) was present, when I was being threatened, & once again, did nothing. BIG conflict of interest/favoritism/discrimination. -As they did not care for me, from the beginning, & 'Supposedly' were finding a place 'More suitable for ME' --Which I agreed as well, but it never happened, apparently. Pray, no one EVER be put in this type of situation. -Gave me 2 Large Trash bags, to collect my thing's.. knowing I had NO WHERE to go, 3-day Holiday Weekend, in the pouring rain. & Crazy enough, I haven't relapsed, < Being at 'Peace of Mind' was anything BUT.

I was 15 mins late from getting home after curfew. Don the house manager was waiting for me and as soon as I stepped in the door he tells me I have a drug test. This was alreadyFrustrating for me because it's 1015pm and I need to be up at 545am. This would not be a problem for most people but unfortunately for me my body doesn't function like most others and urinating under pressure makes it extremely difficult for me to go. I ALWAYS take around 2 hours to urinate for UA tests so I knew I would be up till midnight drinking water and then after I take the test I'll have to get up out of bed several times in the night to pee and I wasnt going to get any rest at all since I had an early morning. So I drank and drank and drank.. I called the house manager into the bathroom with me 3 different times for him to stand next to me and stare at my exposed penis while I struggled to squeeze out a drop and I just could not do it.Now, as I explained before.. this man has no social skills and is extremely unpleasant to be around and he was making it worse for me by counting down the minutes I had left until my time ran out and I was losing my temper. I asked him why it was necessary to do this to me so late at night and he replied to me "it's random so if I got you out of bed at midnight to test you would have to get your ass out of bed and piss in this cup." I was shaking with anger at this time. The final 10 minutes of the one hour time limit they gave me was spent by me with my pants down standing over the toilet praying to God that I could squeeze out just a drop of pee so I wouldnt be homeless while I had a grown man standing right beside me counting down the time I had left and when he reached the final minute he called it out like we were on a game show "one minute left!!!" And I could no longer contain my anger...Time was up.. I couldn't provide a urine sample and Jennifer the owner was on the phone and I begged her for just 15 more minutes.. I pleaded that this is my life on the line and I just needed more time and she callously said absolutely not and that I was given enough time so I hung the phone up on her. I was told to pack up my stuff and they called a Lyft for me which arrived 10 minutes later. I had no time to pack even a fraction of my things before the Lyft driver left and Don the house manager thought it was hilarious that the car left without me.. yes this man was laughing while saying "haha crazy, they just took off without you."With all of my belongings on the curb and me now broken down into tears, jenn the owner began pretending like she was concerned for me and told me to go to the sobering center and stay the night there and I could take a test there and to call her the next day. Before I left I told her that all I needed was more time... This isn't necessary. So upon arrival at the sobering center I finally have to pee and I have to pee BAD... I go in and test which of course comes back negative for everything. I blew all zeroes on the breathalyzer and they told me that they can't let me stay the night because I wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol so I had to use the rest of the money in my account to pay for a motel. The next next day I text Jennifer pictures of all my test results and inform her that I wasn't allowed to stay at the sobering center because I wasn't under the influence and she ignores me. I inform her that removing me from the sober living house caused me to have to pay for a motel and she ignores me. I then call her and she doesn't answer. I then have my case manager at my outpatient facility call her and she tells him that I'm not welcome back because I hung up on her and was rude which caused a scene. This incident allowed me to view what's hidden under the veil and see the disgusting charade passed off as "rehabilitation." Jenn, like many other body brokers are not in this for people's recovery. This is only a business for them and their profit is made on the backs of those seeking help.

I've noticed a concerning inconsistency in how some staff members treat patients at the addiction treatment center. While the goal is to support individuals overcoming addiction, some employees show empathy and compassion, while others do not. I believe it's essential for all staff to provide equal kindness and understanding, as quitting an addiction is a challenging and delicate process.
I want to acknowledge counselor Jennifer and Edwin, who demonstrate genuine care and compassion.Their approach makes a significant difference in creating a supportive environment. I hope that all staff members will strive to provide the same level of empathy, helping patients feel comfortable and empowered throughout their recovery journey.
Despite these concerns, I appreciate the centers commitment to helping individuals overcome addiction and hope to see continued growth and improvements.

Casa capri changed my life, making the decision to come here was extremely hard but i thank myself everyday for doing it. The staff here is incredible and feels like family. The support is forever and you can feel how much they want you to do good here. It works if you work it.

It was my first time in any kind of treatment. I didn’t know what to expect. But I’m so glad that my loved ones chose Casa Capri for me! There are 4 houses on one street that they occupy. A detox, ED house and 2 Rehabilitation houses. They’re like beach cottages. Makes you feel like you are at a little home away from home but with extra Roomate’s.
Detox time allows you to relax, get set up on medication schedule, fill your days with movies, snacks, and prepare yourself for residential. * Do not bring any open food or vapes. Bring comfortable clothes, you’re just lounging. The techs are there for you. You can talk to them about anything. They listen. Even at 3 in the morning when I couldn’t sleep.
Residential is where the real work begins. Your days begin with morning group and meditation, followed by breakfast of your choice with all casa girlies from both houses, medication, getting ready for the day and morning chores. The groups range from open discussion, understanding a little more about yourself, and sharing your story with others. It’s a time to cry, grow, support the other girls and dig deep. You have dietician groups, outings, pilates, breath works, creative art and so much more built in as well. The houses have lunch and dinner prepared by a wonderful chef. She is a delight. So funny and really caters to your diet needs. Casa girls rotate clean ups, find time to read their big books, work on casa binder for telephone privileges and sponsor work! You attend off site AA women’s only meetings. Great place to hear others share, to take new comer and various lengths of sobriety chips and find a sponsor! You become very close with the girls in your house. We would watch shows together, swim in the pool and do crafts like making sober friendship bracelets. Every week there is client cook night where the houses rotate and pick the menu for the night. Go over with the dietician and the chef for dietary needs, and purchasing. It’s a great way to do something for others. The idea behind these scheduled days is to get you to be active in your recovery, participate, get connected with others and get back to the basics. All techs are so approachable and really do care about you and what you’re going through. In the beginning most are shy, disconnected and broken, but when you settle in you start to become a woman in recovery and start gain strength and grow. Understand and appreciate more.
I will forever be grateful to my therapist there. Each clients is assigned a case worker and therapist and they help you navigate your recovery and process areas you need to work on. Everything is in confidence. And it’s really a safe space.
I can’t thank Casa Capri Recovery in Costa Mesa enough. They helped me prepare myself for the outside world as a woman in recovery. If anyone in my life is struggling, I know Casa will always be the place I recommend. They hold a special place in my heart. Thanks Casa Team, I couldn’t have done this without you!

If I needed to go back to treatment for any reason I would 100% come back.

This is the best program I’ve ever been to. They actually care about us and it shows. Jack and Sean go above and beyond to make sure that we have the best experience. I’ll miss riding with Zach to doctors appointments swapping songs and vibing out. Simon is always there when you need him. Listen, because he genuinely wants the best for you! Paul is probably the chillest guy ever. Extremely helpful and smart! Tom is probably the most funny individual I’ve ever met, it’s impossible not to laugh when he’s around. He cooks the best food for us. Tori is best because she’s always down to take us to the beach or gym for a good time. She goes to bat for us. Shahab is the man! He genuinely cares about every individual he meets. I’ll miss our talks. Hunter is fun to crack jokes, he’s so laid back and chill it’s nice having him around. Larry is always so positive and bright and genuinely cares about your health. Everything he does he does to his best ability. Brent aka Popeye is such a good sport. He always brings a positive attitude. He’s hilarious.
This whole program is a god send, i couldn’t imagine going anywhere else and im grateful to all the staff for their commitment to helping us get our lives back on track.
