I learned so much about myself and finally live my life with more authenticity, calm and ease. This was my first time in recovery; I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t expect the settings and houses to be so beautiful, quiet and welcoming. The houses are large while keeping the number of women living there small. Eight women is a common number, ages range from 24-70 which sounds impossible but it somehow works! Rooms are shared with one other roommate close in age, or single rooms are available. The food is made daily from fresh ingredients by a committed group of chefs, one of which will break out in song! They tend to make more vegetable dishes than carbs. It sounds to good to be true, but, the program was not what I expected and exceeded my expectations. Group classes and activities like swimming, hiking, and outings are scheduled everyday. NA, AA, Dharma, and other types of support groups are attended in the early evenings. These meetings offer support and help to familiarize clients with various types of programs available in their own communities. Daily group and twice weekly one-on-one therapy sessions are led by practicing, licensed, and published women therapists who are on the cutting edge of women’s recovery, trauma, and the building of life skills for navigating addiction. I learned so much in a short time and will continue to be grateful to the staff for their insights and dedication. A lot of the negative reviews here seem to come from people who expect results without consistency, honesty, or responsibility. Recovery is not easy, and no clinic can do the work for you if you are still trying to manipulate the system instead of change your life. From my experience, the staff here have always been respectful, supportive, encouraging, and available whenever possible. At the same time, people need to understand that counselors, nurses, and staff members are dealing with many patients every single day — including individuals who repeatedly miss appointments, ignore expectations, or waste the time and energy of people who are genuinely trying to help them. Staff members are human too, and I think many of the complaints fail to recognize the amount of patience required to work in this environment day after day. What stands out the most to me is that this clinic encourages actual recovery and accountability instead of simply handing out medication and sending people on their way. If you consistently show up, communicate honestly, and take your sobriety seriously, the support is absolutely there. I also want to specifically recognize the director, Kim, because she is honestly one of the most compassionate, respectful, genuine human beings I have ever met. The amount of patience, understanding, and support she gives to people — even during difficult situations — deserves recognition. She has played a huge role in my recovery journey and continues to support people however she can, even when she does not have to. Running a program like this cannot be easy, especially while dealing with so many different personalities and situations, but she continues to show professionalism, empathy, and strength every day. At the end of the day, recovery only works when the individual decides they are truly ready. No program is perfect, but in my experience, the people working here genuinely care about those who are serious about changing their lives. While our son was there, the rest of the family slept easily knowing he was in the care of compassionate, expert staff. The doctors, therapists, and staff there are all excellent. They're experienced, and have seen it all. What a relief! The program my son participated in was comprehensive, from getting great nutrition from an on-site chef, to engaging in personal and group therapy, as well as attending outside meetings. Muir Wood returned him to improved physical and mental health, and he was able to take responsibility for and pride in his sobriety. The family program is excellent, including individual family therapy and multi-family group discussion. Through the expertise of the affiliated guest speakers at the group meetings, our whole family learned a lot about how to manage addiction of our roles. All of us, including our son, are stronger because of Muir Wood's program. 6 years ago Muirwood is a cadillac facility in every way! I was impressed with every facet of the program, the facilities, the staff, the family resources, discharge resources etc. If one has to go through this nightmare experience of substance abuse and all that entails, this is a safe landing place for our sons and an invaluable resource for us as families, not only while our son is there in treatment, but in terms of being set up to move forward after treatment as well. We didn’t know where to send our kiddo to keep him safe; we were in a crisis, and this was the answer to our prayers. It was a safe place for him with people who cared about him. His therapist there, Lodi, was loving, kind, supportive, and non-judgmental. She taught all of us some good things. The Zoom parent sessions were also helpful when we could attend. The psych NP in charge of medications was not my favorite to work with, but she has since been replaced with a doctor, and I think her replacement is more helpful and knowledgeable. The evaluation and diagnosis my son received from Doctor Laska-Ruebusch while staying there has been life-changing and extremely helpful for getting my kid set up with a PHP therapy and school accommodations after discharge. I wish there were a section of the facility and program specifically geared toward kids who don’t have substance use issues, that is what I would change if I could. But I know resources are limited. Every time we went to visit our son for family sessions, I was charmed by the beautiful farmland surrounding the facility and the feeling of peace and quiet outdoors there. Again, I am so grateful there was a safe place we could send our sweet son when we had nowhere else. Thank you Muir Wood! Cars homes kids family money. I lost everything. I came to archway recovery services October 11th 2024 having no idea who I was or what to do about my addiction to methamphetamine. They taught me about my triggers and how to identify them. They taught me patience. I was planning to go for 45 days and graduate and ended up staying a whole 90 and going to SLE (SOBER LIVING ENVIRONMENT) I found out where I was in my recovery when I never even knew there was a place i I could be which was I was in preparation and by the time I got out was in action. The Rech Techs (to many to name)are very nice and professional. The managers Ms. Donna and Ms. Letti are very nice and professional and amazing people. The executive director Kevin is also an amazing person. This program is like none I have ever been to. It has a panel to go through before you graduate and the reason for that is to be sure you are ready for the outside world before you enter it. Some people may not like it but I loved the way they ran it. It's a very special place and I would recommend it to anyone in this world who has ANY kind of addiction. For years there were no services for men that wanted help with alcohol and substance abuse through MediCal in Sonoma county. Fortunately this is no longer the case. This facility opened in December 2024 and has helped many suffering from AUD and SUD already. It's a new and clean facility. Staff members are amazing, in particular my case manager. You can tell they are truly sincere in helping others find the path to sobriety. I finally feel hope again. If you or someone you know is in need of help please don't overlook this place. The first time I was pretty unwell but it wasn’t too bad. The next time I went through, I had a great time and did much better because I myself was better. To be upfront, many people who went through were facing homelessness without the intervention of laurel creek. Many of the clients had been homeless in the past. This place needed a good grant of extra funding to make it a little better. There were a lot of plumbing issues and I tend to think the place needs a decent amount of work. Overall is was good. The counselors were professional and helpful. I’m hoping I don’t need to return for a 3rd trip but I found that if you just go with the program, it’s not too bad. It’s a crisis center so people are usually not at their best when being there.
