This place is a god send. It literally saved my life. I arrived here Feb. 22 2026. Before that I was homeless on the streets of Santa Ana for years actively engaging in self destructive behavior such as violence, illegal activities and heavy daily drug use. I thought I was gonna die homeless and a junkie. I didn’t know anything else. Then when I got the opportunity to go to Golden Road I thought I would give it a shot. I was amazed at the size and the amount of luxury within the facility. Not only that but the groups and activities were actually fun and engaging. I can never thank them enough for what they did and continue to do for me; especially Jason. They gave me the tools and the starting point to face the reality and gift of sobriety and recovery. I was 17 when I went to hillcrest treatment facility and heavily addicted to substances. As soon as I stepped inside I was welcome in with open arms. We had fresh meals made daily, fitness, and as well as other activities to get my natural dopamine back up, I made lifelong friendships and lifelong heart touching memories. It was the best time of my life and I stayed sober ever since then and I am 20 now, I bought my own car and I will be moving out into my own apartment soon. The caregivers and therapists and everyone involved was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I wasn’t able to keep in contact with them due to rules but I think about the caregivers, therapists and my experience that I had there every single day, it was so touching that every day I strive to do better because I think about all the people that helped me at hillcrest, eventually if possible I would even like to get a job there to help kids like I was helped. It was the most amazing heart warming experience I’ve had in my entire life and I would recommend this place a million times to anyone. I stayed for 2 weeks and was constantly catered to by all of the staff. Truly a 5 star experience while going through the worst time of my life. The people here truly treat you like their own family. I don't know how they manage to deal with several emotional people all day every day and still manage to give everybody specialized individual attention but they do. I came in there like a wrecking ball and they still took great care of me. Even the chefs cater to everybody's personal needs. I'll be 200 days sober in 2 days and probably wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for this place. The coaches and chefs, all of whom were therapists within their own right, were fantastic. In a place where you already feeling vulnerable they made it feel like home. It was also too short of a review to do this place justice for how much they did for me. I would like to also add Mona, Milly, Knacio, Mike, Greg, Lalo and say thank you to all of you as well. Going through their program and then earning my RADT and working as a Technician at 2 of their Detox locations and House Manager at one of their Sober Livings for them was probably some of my most fulfilling and happiest moments of my life. It seems like everyone there does really care about the patients and wants to help. I loved the approach they had with cbt and dbt. Very helpful to me. (i still utilize them almost daily!)The one thing that I did have issues with were the other kids. There was quite some violence coming from the kids that were there at the same time as me. It's not on the staff at all though. They did the best they could in very harsh situations and still kept all of us safe. I do recommend this place if your kid deals with depression/anxiety but would not recommend if they have violent tendencies. I just dont think mixing those two types of kids works out well. RTC is not the best option for SUDs but it can act as a detox center. Without Maya, I may have fallen behind on my academic ventures and not have gotten much out of this RTC. Jessica De La Garza 1 year ago My child ended up getting involuntarily discharged and I'm still giving Evolve a 5 star rating because they were fantastic throughout the 30 day stay. Admissions helped us through the entire process over a weekend when my child was kicked out elsewhere. Facility was great. Staff from Management to therapists were all kind and very caring. Where Paradigm (Malibu) felt much more corporate, Evolve treated my daughter with so much compassioin, even through the discharge process. The therapist were even crying at discharge, and more telling, my child really wanted to go back after the episode passed. Medical staff tried much harder than elsewhere to find the secret sauce to help my kiddo. Good news, we did eventually find a med (at home) that helped a TON and we're mostly under control now. I'm sure Evolve made a big difference in this process. If you are a parent with a troubled teen, hang in there! Feels impossible some days, but I highly recommend the Evolve team.
