Granite Bay, CA | Center for Discovery Granite Bay, located in Granite Bay, California, provides treatment to women ages 16 to 26 whose primary diagnosis is an eating disorder. They are located in a calming, rural location that allows for relaxation and a focus on recovery. Center for Discovery is an eating disorder treatment organization. The organization has multi | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I was at CFD twice; first in 2019 and again in 2020 during Covid. Treatment isn’t fun. It’s hard. You’re forced to step outside of your comfort zone. My first time at cfd I didn’t want to be there at all (honestly was just there to get medically cleared so I could go back to school) but it took going back a year later and spending 7 weeks there for me to realize and appreciate how much I needed treatment at the time. I would just say to anyone planning on coming here: have an open mind. Every person stepping through the doors of residential is suffering. And I understand you if you’re afraid of letting go of your ED. It’s valid. It is scary. But it’s also incredibly fulfilling to be freed from disordered eating. It is a beautiful process: learning to love yourself. It’s not easy. There was a lot of tears. But you’re surrounded by peers who understand exactly what you’re going through and the group therapy sessions help a lot. If your family cares enough to support you in your recovery please show gratitude because not everyone has a family there to cheer them on or come visit them while they’re struggling. Cherish your loved ones and be grateful for life everyday. Food isn’t the enemy. Food nourishes the soul and body and you deserve to be happy! Also it’s nice to cheer each other on in treatment. I know EDs can be competitive and even if you don’t mean to you might subconsciously end up comparing yourself to the other patients (idk maybe not but I did) but realize that you are both there for the purpose of healing and recovering and comparing yourself to another sick individual isn’t getting anyone anywhere. Instead focus on yourself and tell ur peers ur proud of them if u notice they struggled but got through a meal. It’s important to be there for each other. I’m reallyyyyy shy but to this day I’m still in touch with some of the other girls I met at cfd. It’s great. Also.. JOURNAL! journal everything. Every emotion. Every outburst. It’s healing. If you’re spiritually inclined, right now is the perfect time to get close to your higher power. You won’t have your phone for the most part so reading the Bible, praying, etc…. Now is the time to do that haha god is great. Especially when you think no one else is there for you. Nobody forces religion or spirituality on you here it’s not like the 12 steps in AA/NA but I’m just saying getting closer to god is such a bonus and will aid you tremendously in your recovery process if you seek him out. Good luck to everyone in their recovery journey!! You got this! Can’t really speak for their current staff but I had great support from the therapists and nurses (especially) at the time when I was there. Hopefully it’s the same or better now!

Tbh I hated this place with my whole soul when I came there. I’m a peaceful person and I was arguing with staff. But it changed my life. Like hallelujah god sent me there to have the best therapist who was so patient with my argumentative self. Literally if you actually learn and apply it to your life it changes everything. Like I used to dread every meal but now I can enjoy food again and it’s wonderful. (Eating isn’t the problem. It’s all ego. It’s how your brain survives in or after trauma) But omg was it the hardest therapy program in my whole life. 10/10 would do it again

I can not thank Center for discovery enough!! It was tough for my 18yr old daughter especially at first, but it was successful ! The staff has communicated with me through the whole process. They have helped my daughter immensely. She has an excellent therapist who she really connected with. He doctor and psychiatrist both listened and adjusted medications to her needs. Her stay there was life changing and we are both finally filled with hope. Thank you to everyone . You all make a difference ❤️

CRC saved my life once again. I was here in August for 33 days. I gained so much knowledge of many coping skills, relapse prevention, what to do upon graduating. ...I unfortunately relapsed, consumed more alcohol than I ever have in my life for 7 days. It's like I went from 0 to 60. ...The problem was: I NEVER UTILIZED THOSE COPING SKILLS. I NEVER GOT A SPONSOR. I NEVER WENT TO OUTSIDE MEETINGS. I DID NOT PROGRAM. Granted, I attended their incredible aftercare program of 30 hours a week, once I left the 6 hour a day class - I DIDN'T PROGRAM! Upon graduating today, by the grace of God and CRC, I already have a sponsor, I've actually opened & read some of the Big Book, they are personally transferring me door to door to their aftercare. They are so many wonderful and grateful words that I could go on and on and about CRC. Without the dedication & guidance & sincere concern and knowledge from management, counselors and medical staff, I honestly don't believe I'd be here to write this. I will not give up. I'm happy today. And most importantly, I'm SOBER!

Fair Oaks Recovery Center provided me with an opportunity to rest, reflect, and recover from a lifestyle that was slowly killing me. I was referred to F.O.R.C after insurance complications with another facility, and I thank God that I was. This truly is an incredible program. From the general and medical staff to the clinical and leadership teams, every person I had the opportunity to work with was genuinely kind, caring, and truly invested in their effort to improve the lives of those they touch. I am now happy, healthy, and sober and would never have gotten back to where I am without the daily care and support of the facility.
To anyone who needs help and healing, go to Fair Oaks and try your hardest to stay until the miracle happens. Giving up a few weeks of your life is worth saving the rest of it.

You know it's bad when you find yourself at Litteral House. A terrifying environment, that accepts the most delusional patients who had no business being discharged from their hospitals, and puts you in a house with them with little supervision. At times you'll have no idea where to find a staff member, but you'll still be stuck in the house with every nut that lives there. Being short-staffed is no excuse.
Visitors are completely forbidden, as is leaving, making it less like a "residential" and more like "unsupervised inpatient care". If you find yourself in a difficult situation and need to talk to a staff member, you'll find that the person you talk to isn't a licensed therapist. In fact, there are no licensed therapists on staff, so the advantage of being here boils down to "an environment where someone will make sure you take your meds", which is the one thing I didn't need help with.
When I was admitted, I didn't feel the need to ask clarifying questions when I was told that there were to be 5 groups per day, because I took it as a given that said groups would be useful. Unlike at other institutions, none of these groups last longer than 15 minutes. There is little discussion of coping strategies and no occupational therapy, mostly just "how are you doing" and exercise.
The upshot it that the psychiatrists are really good. Unfortunately, you only get time with them once per week, so med changes take a while to get if you need them, and most patients here don't need med changes anyway so it's not much of an upshot.
The only reason to find yourself here is because you're on Medi-Cal and have no other option. I would urge the state of California to allocate resources to more helpful institutions.

Staff is extremely unprofessional here. From forgetting to feed me, to tossing my special food( I have dietary restrictions/allergies)to invalidating triggers and straight denial. Avoid this place at all costs & spend your time on recovering at a place where they won’t victim blame. Their lack of communication among the staff is concerning. I was humiliated and made to feel insignificant many times here. The so called therapists are a joke. Such a shame too, I was honestly hoping they could help me with housing & other resources. A place I would totally recommend. It's a place where people from all walks of life can face their addictions and not be embarrassed. The staff, owners, and the other 97% of affiliates that you encounter are all in recovery which makes it even better. Cause how can a person understand your fight who has never fought themselves. And the gourmet chef who cooks all your meals is even more of a plus. Swimming in the summer, volleyball, and your family can also come to visit. Your not overwhelmed with meetings constantly. You actually learn about addiction and what your going through while working the steps at your own pace without the pressure of expectations. It's an experience to remember truly.

I approached this service with some uncertainty, not knowing exactly what to expect. However, my counselor, Paul, turned out to be incredible. He provided immense support during a challenging period in my life, offering guidance and clarity when I was feeling lost. His flexibility in scheduling sessions was particularly appreciated, as it demonstrated his commitment to accommodating my needs.
Moreover, Paul’s kindness wasn’t just limited to me. He consistently showed compassion and understanding towards everyone in our classes, creating a welcoming and supportive environment. This positive atmosphere was further enhanced by Christine, the friendly face at the front desk. Her cheerful demeanor, so evident even through phone conversations, never failed to brighten my day.
