I was placed there through a court-related situation, and I appreciated being there rather than in a juvenile detention setting. During my time, the staff were supportive and maintained a calm and structured environment.
One of the most meaningful parts of my experience was the connections I built with both staff and peers. I developed positive relationships and shared good memories with the people there in a supportive setting.
Overall, I am grateful for my time there and the experiences I had in that environment.

Malibu, CA | Rise in Malibu is a secluded drug and alcohol rehab program in Malibu, California. They deliver Joint Commission accredited detox, inpatient treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and aftercare services to adult clients. Their campus boasts luxury amenities and a seaside view. Detoxification at Rise Malibu takes place in its luxury residen | Treatments Programs Payment Options | There are very few people in life who truly believe in you when you’ve completely lost belief in yourself. For me, one of those people has always been Ron and the entire team at Rise in Malibu.
I’ve known Ron for a while , and through every chapter, he has remained someone who genuinely cares, shows up, and sees the person beneath the struggle. That kind of authenticity is rare. His leadership and heart are reflected throughout the entire program and staff.
Dr. Mark, Sheri, and everyone at Rise create an environment that is compassionate, professional, supportive, and deeply human. They don’t treat people like problems to fix they treat them like people worth fighting for. That distinction matters more than words can explain.
What makes Rise special is that it never felt transactional to me. It felt personal. Real care, real connection, real support, and people who continue to stay connected long after treatment ends. That says everything.
And for me personally, recovery wasn’t something that necessarily “landed” the very first time. Sometimes the spiritual experience happens when it’s truly ready to happen. What I can say today, sitting here over 16 months sober, is that Rise helped give me the tools, foundation, support, and perspective that allowed that change to finally take root in a real way. When the moment came, I knew how to move forward because of what I had learned there.
That’s something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life!
I can honestly say I would recommend Rise in Malibu to anyone looking for genuine help, guidance, and people who truly care about recovery and human beings as a whole. Five stars isn’t enough for the impact they’ve had on my life.
Thank you, Ron, and thank you to the entire Rise family!

Going to Rise was the best decision of my life. Allison was a godsend to me at a dark point in my life and was able to get me into Rise’s treatment program with short notice. The team there is unparalleled. I wish I could name everyone that were members of my treatment team at Rise, but a few shoutouts to Nam for driving my sad sack self to Rise, baking amazing bread, and being an amazing support from Day 1, Shari & Zach from nursing for the care, fun, pep talks, and compassion, Dr Mark for his wisdom and pragmatic approach that I really resonated with, and numerous others (the chefs are next-level good, Tessa, Luke, Saber, Destiny, Cesar, Cat, Michael, Terry, Adrian, etc).
Outside of the fantastic staff, I’ll add that the house is gorgeous, the groups are varied and enriching, there’s a good balance between free time & groups, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and they do a great job of ensuring that you have access to outside appointments - for example, I was able to go to Passover services while at Rise without having to go through a lot of hoops/bureaucracy.
The amenities are fun and obviously appreciated, but the heart of this place is really why I would recommend it to a loved one or friend in a heartbeat.
Thank you so much, Rise team!!!

This facility is life changing, I did an initial 30 days in detox as well as 21 days in outpatient. I’ve never felt so confident in my recovery and it’s thanks to the family I made here. The staff genuinely care about you and will form a connection with you if you’re willing to let them in. So let me start by saying this is my first time attending a facility such as this. This place is a god send. It literally saved my life. I arrived here Feb. 22 2026. Before that I was homeless on the streets of Santa Ana for years actively engaging in self destructive behavior such as violence, illegal activities and heavy daily drug use. I thought I was gonna die homeless and a junkie. I didn’t know anything else. Then when I got the opportunity to go to Golden Road I thought I would give it a shot. I was amazed at the size and the amount of luxury within the facility. Not only that but the groups and activities were actually fun and engaging. I can never thank them enough for what they did and continue to do for me; especially Jason. They gave me the tools and the starting point to face the reality and gift of sobriety and recovery. For this I am eternally grateful. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank god that I attended this facility. I highly recommend this place.

My name is Steven Garcia, I’ve never written a review about anything but this place changed my entire life and future. I was 17 when I went to hillcrest treatment facility and heavily addicted to substances. As soon as I stepped inside I was welcome in with open arms. We had fresh meals made daily, fitness, and as well as other activities to get my natural dopamine back up, I made lifelong friendships and lifelong heart touching memories. It was the best time of my life and I stayed sober ever since then and I am 20 now, I bought my own car and I will be moving out into my own apartment soon. The caregivers and therapists and everyone involved was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I wasn’t able to keep in contact with them due to rules but I think about the caregivers, therapists and my experience that I had there every single day, it was so touching that every day I strive to do better because I think about all the people that helped me at hillcrest, eventually if possible I would even like to get a job there to help kids like I was helped. It was the most amazing heart warming experience I’ve had in my entire life and I would recommend this place a million times to anyone. If anyone from hillcrest that remembers me sees this, thank you for changing my life I truly wouldn’t be in the position I’m in if I never met all of you.

Before I begin writing this review, I would like to let whoever is reading this know that you are already taking the necessary steps to create a better way of life and healthier way of thinking.
I needed help in my life and Elevation Behavioral Health provided the care and tools I was in search for. Starting from the admissions process until my final day, the Elevation staff went above and beyond. Stephanie, was in charge of my admissions, which she made seamless. Stephanie responded to all my emails and phone calls in a timely fashion and with great care.
At the Calabasas house, I had the privilege to have Michele as my therapist. I owe her my life with how attentive and caring she was for me. Michele was compassionate, funny, and direct - something I needed. I could go on and on about how great of a therapist she was for me, but I do not know if there would be enough characters for me to write a review. Thank you Michele.
The coaches and chefs, all of whom were therapists within their own right, were fantastic. In a place where you already feeling vulnerable they made it feel like home. Friendly, compassionate, and wonderful human beings overall is not enough to say about them. (Again, worried about the character limit here.) I want to thank them all and would give them all a gold stars if I could.
If you do end up in the Calabasas house, I have left a letter for you, the client, to read, from one friend to another. You got this. You're right where you need to be. Most of all, you're making the correct and best decision by coming to Elevation.

Let me see how I start this and I will have write into multiple reviews and google does not allow this much writing in on shot 😊. I checked into Summit Recovery on April 5th and honestly I had no idea what I was walking into. I don't even fully remember everything leading up to it. My wife was the one who called the facility and she told me the program director spoke with me but I have zero memory of that conversation. I believe her though! 😊
What I do remember is being at the airport, my wife dropping me off, and got texts from their program director, that when I landed at Long Beach airport a man with long blonde hair would be picking me up. In my head I was picturing some 250 pound bouncer type, big and intimidating. Well that is not what showed up. This guy was nothing like that. He was sweet, humble and just had a calm energy about him. On the drive over to Summit he kept telling me I was going to be fine. I wasn't so sure about that but something about the way he said it made me want to believe him.
The staff at Summit are something else, and I truly mean that. It wasn't just the nurses and counselors, it was everybody. And I mean everybody. There was one lady on the cleaning staff, I wish I could mention her by name but I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but oh my god she made me feel like I was on vacation. Every single time I saw her she was smiling, full of energy and just made you feel good being around her. That kind of thing is contagious. Not just her, but every person I ran into treated me with respect and made me feel like I actually mattered. I could walk into pretty much anyone's office just to chat and we would end up laughing and joking around. Those moments were priceless to me, more than they probably know. When you are going through something that heavy, those little moments of just being normal and laughing with someone mean everything. Not once did I feel judged or ashamed for being there. They understood and they cared, not just about getting me sober but about me as a person.
Oh my god the food!! Nobody told me about this and I was not expecting it at all. They have a actual chef there cooking fresh every day, lunch and dinner both. Real food, like real real food. Not that cafeteria stuff or something sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Fresh, cooked from scratch every single day. I don't know how he did it but every meal was good. Like really good. After a few days I was actually looking forward to meal time which I did not see coming. That chef deserves his own review honestly. You can tell he took pride in what he was making and that meant a lot when you are going through something so tough. You go chef five stars for you buddy. And the program itself, I cannot say enough good things. But what really got me was the staff. I felt like I had known these people for years, like they were old friends of mine. It never felt like someone just handing you a bunch of papers to read or standing there lecturing you about drinking. These were real people who had lived real lives and gone through real things and they used that to help change the people around them. That is a completely different thing. You cannot fake that and you can feel the difference right away. That is what makes Summit special to me. One staff member I would like to say.. “you go girl .. \” even she told not to call her girl 😊
And the nurses, oh my god where do I start. I cannot thank them enough. Every single one of them knew their stuff but never made you feel like you were just another patient. They were warm, friendly and just easy to be around.
Director of nursing Ms. Carter :) Out internal joke. she not just help me with meds but also with my insurance stuff, cannot repay for all they help.
I wish I can talk about every staff member, but google not allowing it
I will not sugarcoat anything, it was hard, very hard, but I did it. Summit Recovery helped me every single day and never gave up on me. They are real people who will walk with you every step of the way. But you have to want it, that is it, simple as that.

I don't do the review thing. But in this case I will make an exception. When I finally came to the conclusion that perhaps I had enough of a drinking problem that I should enter a program, the biggest obstacle I thought I'd run into was finding a place, dealing with finances, and getting a spot. I gave myself a couple of months to figure it out. Summit was my second call on day one and I was admitted 3 days later. It happened so easily and quickly that I didn't have time to talk myself out of it. That alone was the biggest step on my journey to sobriety.
Upon arrival I had no idea what to expect since I had never been through this process before. Everybody at intake were extremely caring, considerate and helpful. Even though I felt completely at odds with the situation I took a deep breath and kinda dove in.
The staff, from the techs, to the therapists, to the chef, to the specialists...sound baths, chiropractic, yoga etc were outstanding from top to bottom. I learned so much in my 30 days, though the best piece advice came from the housekeeper on my second bewildering day there which was - enjoy your vacation.
I could write a book about what I experienced and learned at Summit. For all the expertise and care I received from the institution there greatest gift came from my fellow clients who were so incredibly giving and well..human. Through them I remembered that I liked people and that going forwards even though I'm the same person I was before I think I'm more aware of what that is and that I can work at being a better version of me.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been given this opportunity, and if you are considering treatment there is nothing I can recommend higher than Summit. Good luck.

My 12 year old son stayed at Beachside for two months in the spring and we brought home a changed child. After struggling with some significant trauma, the counselors that worked with my son were truly wonderful. The weekend activities were excellent including boating and trips to amusement parks. During the week, he learned to surf, completed his school curriculum so that he could graduate from his regular education elementary school, and took hikes at beautiful locations around Malibu. He loved the food, and participated in group and music therapy as well as individual counseling. We spoke on the phone most nights and had great weekend visits. My son is now a thriving 7th grader, enjoying school and close relationships with his friends. I would encourage anyone struggling to give your child the gift of this healing environment.

This place changed and SAVED my life. It gave me a safe space to heal and provided trustworthy caregivers, doctors and therapists to give me guidance into sobriety and emotional healing. I am 4 months and 24 days clean from drugs and alcohol and I would recommend The Pointe to everyone and anyone. Your loved one or yourself will be taken care of here and it’s so worth it. I have been to other treatment centers in my first bout of trying to get sober in 2020 and The Pointe goes above and beyond. I’m at a completely different mindset and although getting sober is hard work, I truly think The Pointe not only is a beautiful and sacred place to get sober in but every single person went above and beyond to care about me and teach me so many tools to have the open and sober mindset I have now. I am SO incredibly grateful for every person at the Pointe and the three months I spent there. My life is now in a place I didn’t even know was possible. I get emotional just thinking about how much I love and am grateful for The Pointe and it’s employees. World class. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart !!!

Passages changed my life. It is not easy - in fact it’s really, really hard. If you’re committed to doing it the right way - you are going to wind up dealing with a lot of painful issues and hurts - and all without your substance of choice to numb the pain. But - you will be supported every step of the way. The staff is WONDERFUL and so genuinely happy for the progress you make. The other clients become your closest friends and there is nothing you can say there that will shock anyone. There is zero judgment, just support and kindness and encouragement. Even post discharge they have weekly in person and online alumni groups which are fantastic and the facilitators of those groups genuinely care. Other than becoming a mom, Passages is the best thing that ever happened to me. I’m forever grateful.

From the quality of all the details like snacks, food, rooms, outdoor areas to the excellence of the staff and professionals that are committed to helping you. The level of care I have received there has given me a second, third chance at life. I would recommend to anyone to use this facility to better your life.

I have had an active mental health practice for the past 30 years and, without hesitation, would recommend the Avalon Malibu Rehabilitation Center. I have found that they offer an excellent, state of the art dual diagnosis treatment program that embraces a research evidence based treatment approach that encompasses multiple types of treatment modalities that can be tailored to fit each client’s specific and unique needs. I have utilized the services of many different similar programs for my clients, but my experiences with Avalon Malibu have been without equal. The professional staff are well trained and experienced, and provide a warm and supportive treatment environment. My clients have greatly benefitted from their treatment at Avalon, with notably lessened risk of relapse, and greater and more sustained mood stability – something that is a challenge for clients who are in crisis. I am also impressed by Avalon’s focus on aftercare planning, and how they assist their clients with crafting outpatient treatment to further stabilize and continue their therapeutic progress when they return home.

I am so grateful for Avalon in so so so many ways. My life went way off track and I couldn’t get out of my own way. The team at Avalon (esp my therapist and psychiatrist) guided me through some old traumas and today I’m doing so much better. And that's because they understood it and helped me put it behind me. This is a wonderful place for trauma resolution. I hope I don't need them again but if I ever do, I know they will take such good care of me. THANK YOU AVALON TEAM!!!!!!!!

"I cannot recommend Ventura Recovery Center enough for anyone seeking a truly comprehensive path to recovery. From the very start, the detox team made a difficult process feel safe and manageable. What sets this place apart is how they balance professional clinical care with holistic wellness. My therapist and case manager were incredible advocates who tailored everything to my needs, while the group facilitators and technicians provided a consistent, supportive environment daily. They even incorporate practices like sound baths, a local gym, yoga and equine therapy which added a much-needed layer of peace and healing. It’s a place that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms."

I had never been in a residential treatment center and I was really nervous, however I did go voluntarily. My experience wasn’t terrible. There were pros and cons for sure, these were:
Pros:
Really good food
Outings were fun
If you were level 3 and above, you could go on off site visitations with your family
Cons:
Leveled me down on my last week while I had been withdrawing from two meds (Abilify and Zoloft)
Made me sit through an intense PTSD flashback and didn’t let me do anything to distract myself (it was to practice a skill, but i really needed help and i felt very distressed)
Tried to punish me and make me stay an extra week for feeling suicidal after leveling me down
Didn’t really do much when another kid was making me feel uncomfortable by making me feel overstimulated
But it was not a very bad experience. I’ve been to two residential treatment centers (both evolve) and this one was definitely the best one I’ve been to.

My son had a great experience here. The team is stellar and treated him like he was their own family. We had a few rough days and they were amazing with keeping me in the loop and making sure to carry out my wishes. He was diagnosed within the first month of what his mental health issues were and they treated him according to what they thought was best for him. They gave us a lot of materials for us to educate us about his disorder, and educated him on what it meant and how to move forward.

We had a truly positive experience with Evolve Teen Treatment in Ojai, CA for our 13/14-year-old daughter. The location is beautiful, right near downtown Ojai, and the environment felt very welcoming from the moment we arrived.
Our daughter struggles with anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and challenging behaviors. At Evolve, she was finally able to find her voice. With the support of the incredible staff and therapists, she learned how to better understand her mental health and, for the first time, could articulate what she was feeling.
Evolve kept her engaged every day with a full schedule of therapy and activities like hiking, surfing, yoga, working out, and healthy meals, which helped her get strong both mentally and physically. She stayed for three months the first time and two months the second time (not typical, but necessary in her case). Coming home was hard, but the setbacks were due more to outside influences than the program itself.
What stood out most was the level of care and dedication from the staff and therapists. They weren’t just there for her, but for our whole family. The family sessions were incredibly helpful in teaching us how to best support her. We learned that it’s not about perfection but about progress and resilience, even when things don’t go as planned.
We were in a place of deep hopelessness before finding Evolve, but the program was truly a godsend. It not only helped our daughter, but also gave us the tools to keep growing as a family. A friend recommended Evolve to us, and now we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with a teen going through hard times. We are forever grateful.

I stayed at evolve the end of last year/ beginning of this year, and I had a very positive experience with the staff, treatment, food, all of it. It seems like everyone there does really care about the patients and wants to help. I loved the approach they had with cbt and dbt. Very helpful to me. (i still utilize them almost daily!)The one thing that I did have issues with were the other kids. There was quite some violence coming from the kids that were there at the same time as me. It's not on the staff at all though. They did the best they could in very harsh situations and still kept all of us safe. I do recommend this place if your kid deals with depression/anxiety but would not recommend if they have violent tendencies. I just dont think mixing those two types of kids works out well.
