Camarillo, CA | Altitude Recovery Community is a residential alcohol and drug treatment center in Camarillo, California. Care is individualized, evidence based and trauma informed, including dual diagnosis care for co-occurring mental health conditions. They work with most major PPO and POS insurance plans, and most insured clients have little or no out of pocket | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I am a family man who worked 20 years as a first responder and worked in construction management for several years. After becoming horribly addicted to alcohol and losing focus on my life and my family, I nearly lost everything I loved. I was in a very dark place. I got help at Altitude and was so impressed with the support, love, and knowledge I received from the caring staff at Altitude. Lindsay, Ariel, and Tori literally saved my life. I was so impressed with the compassion and the level of care I received, I made it my purpose to come back to help others. I have re-gained my purpose in life, along with the trust, love, and respect of my family. I have made it my mission to help others receive the support they need to recover by imparting the knowledge and wisdom I have gained from my experiences in life and recovery. I was welcomed back to Altitude, but not as a client. I am proud to now be a part of the Altitude family to help others the way I was helped. If you are hurting and need help, I strongly suggest giving Altitude a call. It just might save your life too.

Altitude is a place for healing. The people who work there really go above and beyond to make sure you seen, heard, and safe. Each individual there had such a huge impact on my journey.
When I showed up there I was broken and lost. Through groups, my counseling and therapy sessions I was able to work through some really hard stuff.
They show you that it’s okay to let your walls down and accept help by seeing how they interact with one another. It gives you hope that not everyone is going to hurt you.
Lindsay/program director, Emma/overnight tech, Tori/case manager, Jana/tech, Ariel/tech and Kristi/chef have all helped me so much and I will be forever grateful.

I was placed there through a court-related situation, and I appreciated being there rather than in a juvenile detention setting. During my time, the staff were supportive and maintained a calm and structured environment.
One of the most meaningful parts of my experience was the connections I built with both staff and peers. I developed positive relationships and shared good memories with the people there in a supportive setting.
Overall, I am grateful for my time there and the experiences I had in that environment.

It was my first time going into treatment and I was scared to fly to California. I'm happy I made the decision to trust Enlight with my safety and wellbeing. As I sit here, dead of winter in Upstate New York. I appreciate the time I spent at Enlight Treatment center. This is usually the time I would look for something to lift my mood. My name is Steven Garcia, I’ve never written a review about anything but this place changed my entire life and future. I was 17 when I went to hillcrest treatment facility and heavily addicted to substances. As soon as I stepped inside I was welcome in with open arms. We had fresh meals made daily, fitness, and as well as other activities to get my natural dopamine back up, I made lifelong friendships and lifelong heart touching memories. It was the best time of my life and I stayed sober ever since then and I am 20 now, I bought my own car and I will be moving out into my own apartment soon. The caregivers and therapists and everyone involved was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I wasn’t able to keep in contact with them due to rules but I think about the caregivers, therapists and my experience that I had there every single day, it was so touching that every day I strive to do better because I think about all the people that helped me at hillcrest, eventually if possible I would even like to get a job there to help kids like I was helped. It was the most amazing heart warming experience I’ve had in my entire life and I would recommend this place a million times to anyone. If anyone from hillcrest that remembers me sees this, thank you for changing my life I truly wouldn’t be in the position I’m in if I never met all of you.

Let me see how I start this and I will have write into multiple reviews and google does not allow this much writing in on shot 😊. I checked into Summit Recovery on April 5th and honestly I had no idea what I was walking into. I don't even fully remember everything leading up to it. My wife was the one who called the facility and she told me the program director spoke with me but I have zero memory of that conversation. I believe her though! 😊
What I do remember is being at the airport, my wife dropping me off, and got texts from their program director, that when I landed at Long Beach airport a man with long blonde hair would be picking me up. In my head I was picturing some 250 pound bouncer type, big and intimidating. Well that is not what showed up. This guy was nothing like that. He was sweet, humble and just had a calm energy about him. On the drive over to Summit he kept telling me I was going to be fine. I wasn't so sure about that but something about the way he said it made me want to believe him.
The staff at Summit are something else, and I truly mean that. It wasn't just the nurses and counselors, it was everybody. And I mean everybody. There was one lady on the cleaning staff, I wish I could mention her by name but I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but oh my god she made me feel like I was on vacation. Every single time I saw her she was smiling, full of energy and just made you feel good being around her. That kind of thing is contagious. Not just her, but every person I ran into treated me with respect and made me feel like I actually mattered. I could walk into pretty much anyone's office just to chat and we would end up laughing and joking around. Those moments were priceless to me, more than they probably know. When you are going through something that heavy, those little moments of just being normal and laughing with someone mean everything. Not once did I feel judged or ashamed for being there. They understood and they cared, not just about getting me sober but about me as a person.
Oh my god the food!! Nobody told me about this and I was not expecting it at all. They have a actual chef there cooking fresh every day, lunch and dinner both. Real food, like real real food. Not that cafeteria stuff or something sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Fresh, cooked from scratch every single day. I don't know how he did it but every meal was good. Like really good. After a few days I was actually looking forward to meal time which I did not see coming. That chef deserves his own review honestly. You can tell he took pride in what he was making and that meant a lot when you are going through something so tough. You go chef five stars for you buddy. And the program itself, I cannot say enough good things. But what really got me was the staff. I felt like I had known these people for years, like they were old friends of mine. It never felt like someone just handing you a bunch of papers to read or standing there lecturing you about drinking. These were real people who had lived real lives and gone through real things and they used that to help change the people around them. That is a completely different thing. You cannot fake that and you can feel the difference right away. That is what makes Summit special to me. One staff member I would like to say.. “you go girl .. \” even she told not to call her girl 😊
And the nurses, oh my god where do I start. I cannot thank them enough. Every single one of them knew their stuff but never made you feel like you were just another patient. They were warm, friendly and just easy to be around.
Director of nursing Ms. Carter :) Out internal joke. she not just help me with meds but also with my insurance stuff, cannot repay for all they help.
I wish I can talk about every staff member, but google not allowing it
I will not sugarcoat anything, it was hard, very hard, but I did it. Summit Recovery helped me every single day and never gave up on me. They are real people who will walk with you every step of the way. But you have to want it, that is it, simple as that.

I don't do the review thing. But in this case I will make an exception. When I finally came to the conclusion that perhaps I had enough of a drinking problem that I should enter a program, the biggest obstacle I thought I'd run into was finding a place, dealing with finances, and getting a spot. I gave myself a couple of months to figure it out. Summit was my second call on day one and I was admitted 3 days later. It happened so easily and quickly that I didn't have time to talk myself out of it. That alone was the biggest step on my journey to sobriety.
Upon arrival I had no idea what to expect since I had never been through this process before. Everybody at intake were extremely caring, considerate and helpful. Even though I felt completely at odds with the situation I took a deep breath and kinda dove in.
The staff, from the techs, to the therapists, to the chef, to the specialists...sound baths, chiropractic, yoga etc were outstanding from top to bottom. I learned so much in my 30 days, though the best piece advice came from the housekeeper on my second bewildering day there which was - enjoy your vacation.
I could write a book about what I experienced and learned at Summit. For all the expertise and care I received from the institution there greatest gift came from my fellow clients who were so incredibly giving and well..human. Through them I remembered that I liked people and that going forwards even though I'm the same person I was before I think I'm more aware of what that is and that I can work at being a better version of me.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been given this opportunity, and if you are considering treatment there is nothing I can recommend higher than Summit. Good luck.

My 12 year old son stayed at Beachside for two months in the spring and we brought home a changed child. After struggling with some significant trauma, the counselors that worked with my son were truly wonderful. The weekend activities were excellent including boating and trips to amusement parks. During the week, he learned to surf, completed his school curriculum so that he could graduate from his regular education elementary school, and took hikes at beautiful locations around Malibu. He loved the food, and participated in group and music therapy as well as individual counseling. We spoke on the phone most nights and had great weekend visits. My son is now a thriving 7th grader, enjoying school and close relationships with his friends. I would encourage anyone struggling to give your child the gift of this healing environment.

This place changed and SAVED my life. It gave me a safe space to heal and provided trustworthy caregivers, doctors and therapists to give me guidance into sobriety and emotional healing. I am 4 months and 24 days clean from drugs and alcohol and I would recommend The Pointe to everyone and anyone. Your loved one or yourself will be taken care of here and it’s so worth it. I have been to other treatment centers in my first bout of trying to get sober in 2020 and The Pointe goes above and beyond. I’m at a completely different mindset and although getting sober is hard work, I truly think The Pointe not only is a beautiful and sacred place to get sober in but every single person went above and beyond to care about me and teach me so many tools to have the open and sober mindset I have now. I am SO incredibly grateful for every person at the Pointe and the three months I spent there. My life is now in a place I didn’t even know was possible. I went to Evolve Ojai back in February of this year. I had never been in a residential treatment center and I was really nervous, however I did go voluntarily. My experience wasn’t terrible. There were pros and cons for sure, these were:
Pros:
Really good food
Outings were fun
If you were level 3 and above, you could go on off site visitations with your family
Cons:
Leveled me down on my last week while I had been withdrawing from two meds (Abilify and Zoloft)
Made me sit through an intense PTSD flashback and didn’t let me do anything to distract myself (it was to practice a skill, but i really needed help and i felt very distressed)
Tried to punish me and make me stay an extra week for feeling suicidal after leveling me down
Didn’t really do much when another kid was making me feel uncomfortable by making me feel overstimulated
But it was not a very bad experience. I’ve been to two residential treatment centers (both evolve) and this one was definitely the best one I’ve been to.

My son had a great experience here. The team is stellar and treated him like he was their own family. We had a few rough days and they were amazing with keeping me in the loop and making sure to carry out my wishes. He was diagnosed within the first month of what his mental health issues were and they treated him according to what they thought was best for him. They gave us a lot of materials for us to educate us about his disorder, and educated him on what it meant and how to move forward.

"I cannot recommend Ventura Recovery Center enough for anyone seeking a truly comprehensive path to recovery. From the very start, the detox team made a difficult process feel safe and manageable. What sets this place apart is how they balance professional clinical care with holistic wellness. My therapist and case manager were incredible advocates who tailored everything to my needs, while the group facilitators and technicians provided a consistent, supportive environment daily. They even incorporate practices like sound baths, a local gym, yoga and equine therapy which added a much-needed layer of peace and healing. I have referred many people to Oak Forest, and nearly all of them have come back as healthier, stronger, and improved versions of themselves because of the care and support they received there. The level of compassion, professionalism, and genuine dedication from the staff is truly exceptional.
I would highly recommend Oak Forest to anyone who wants to reclaim their life from addiction. I will always support them because I know they are the real deal — a program that truly cares about every one of their clients.

This place is where I got sober and finally stayed sober. Brian, Jude, Ginger, and Chris were instrumental in helping me gather the tools I needed to maintain my sobriety and believe in myself. The therapists are not equipped to handle more complex patients with extensive trauma so I suggest getting an outside therapist. They told me they couldn't help me in my therapy sessions but the groups about the big book and living that way of life are what really helped me understand myself and my disease. Brian’s lessons and wisdom helped so much, the clinicians believed I was faking my happiness and peace but it was inside those walls, I found my higher power and purpose. Oak forest is a stepping stone that teaches you how to help yourself stay sober. There was so much doubt from the other staff I met there, that I was so determined to succeed. There was one young female counselor and one older female in admin that gave me a lot of trouble and only favored the boys so be prepared to find your voice and never be afraid to use it. Trust in the 12 steps and those there that are loving and only want to see you break free from the shackles of alcoholism and addiction. Thank you for everything, Oak Forest.
Ps. I'm not sure who is responsible for responding to reviews but NEVER be afraid to stand for what you believe in or be intimidated by those claiming to be spiritually superior. Much love to everyone ever afflicted by addiction and their families. The replies to the reviews with less than 5 stars are so upsetting as a member of AA 💔

Oak Forest changed the trajectory of my life. When I first came here four years ago, I didn’t think I had a “real problem.” I let my disease consume my mind and made a million excuses about why I wasn’t an addict and how marijuana “didn’t count.” As soon as I left the recovery community and decided I was ready to go back home—that I was “saved,” etc.—I went right back to what I knew: getting high to cope with my failures.
After four years of realizing I couldn’t get sober on my own, and that I needed rehab and sober living to get back on track, I came back. Even though I’m from Michigan, my first thought was to return to Oak Forest. During my first stay, the staff made such a lasting impression on me. I thank God that Batool Makki was my therapist and encouraged me to come back. Knowing I was returning to Oak Forest made it easier to ask for help because of how loved and supported I felt when I was there.
This time around, I went through their IOP program, and that’s when everything finally clicked for me. Through proper education about addiction and the disease model, I came to fully accept that I am an addict and that I do suffer from the disease of addiction. Step One is fundamental to recovery, and Oak Forest helped me finally understand and embrace that truth.
I’ve now been sober since August 1, 2024, and my life looks completely different. I have my own apartment, and this is the first time I’ve ever lived independently. I have my own car, I pay my own bills, and for the first time in a long time, I’m genuinely happy. I’ve also built real friendships with people who truly support me—people I met through the program.
The resentment I carried toward myself and my family is gone, and faith and hope have been restored through my Higher Power, the support of my family, and the AA program and recovery community that Oak Forest helped launch me into. The staff kept a close eye on me and made sure I was always okay.
Their service is priceless. I went from feeling like a worthless degenerate with no purpose in society—like I was better off dead—to healing the inner child within me and learning to forgive myself. Today, I focus on my strengths instead of my weaknesses. I have purpose again, hope again, and faith again. I truly feel like God’s soldier again. ❤️
I’ll always be grateful to Oak Forest for helping me build a life I never thought was possible.

Malibu, CA | Cliffside Malibu is a luxury, integrative drug and alcohol rehab for adults in Malibu, California offering crisis intervention, medically supervised detox, intensive inpatient programming, and aftercare planning and support. Dedicated services are available for clients with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Their treatment programs are bas | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Spending three months in treatment at Cliffside put my life on a new path and laid the foundation for the four years of sobriety I still have today. The amazing, compassionate, and gentle staff members there immediately made me feel safe, especially nurse Chelsea. The group facilitators and therapists (especially thankful to Terry and John) made me feel understood and helped me navigate what a lifetime of sobriety could look like and the steps I needed to take to get there. I felt so supported during my time there and beyond - I still go back to the Malibu house every Wednesday to help lead a meeting with the current patients at the house and previous alumni. We've built long lasting friendships and community over the years, a gift I have continually received long after leaving in-patient treatment. I also sponsor many women who have been through treatment at Cliffside who are also still sober today. Kelley, the Alumni Coordinator, has played such a huge role in my recovery and it is because of her efforts that we are able to keep coming back and stay involved with our recovery team, the programming, and each other. Deciding to go to Cliffside was genuinely the best decision I have ever made in my life. Being at Cliffside will always feel like home to me, I can't thank them enough. <3

I went to Cliffside back in November. I was there for about 30 days and it completely changed my life. This was my first time in treatment and choosing Cliffside was the best choice I ever made. The techs/nurses, the therapists, my case manager Terry, and everyone involved is so caring, supportive, and kind. I am almost 8 months sober and it is the best feeling. I’m so grateful forever.

Malibu, CA | Visions Adolescent Treatment Center is a teen addiction treatment facility that specializes in dual diagnosis care for adolescents with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. In 2023 I opened Carrera treatment & wellness spa.

It is very hard to find a treatment center with a good soul… But these folks have it

I can’t speak to anyone else’s experience at visions, but i can say with certainty that I owe my sobriety & my life as it is today to the councilors & staff at visions. There’s no such thing as a perfect treatment center, & if you are searching the internet for one I promise you wont find it, but visions is as close as it gets. I went through Mulholland & extended care starting in july of 2025 going into December when i went home. I’m a year sober now & visions is the place that gave me the tools to make that happen for myself. The majority of treatment centers & rehabs out there truly only exist to profit off of suffering, i’ve been through places like that & I promise you visions is not one of these places. the majority of the staff are in recovery themselves & if you’re willing to do the work, visions is the best place to do it. the program at visions in residential & extended care is so much more than a guide to recovery from addiction, it’s a guide on how to function in the world. I was using since i was 12 before i came into treatment and there were very basic things i was clueless about. i learned how to do my own laundry at visions, how to wash dishes properly & sweep floors. i learned the importance of pulling your weight when you’re living in a shared space, social skills, common sense & so much more. It sounds silly, like stuff that everyone should know, but i know several others who were in the same boat as me. I don’t know where i’d be without visions & frankly I don’t want to know. Clayton, claudia, hannah, beth & the countless other staff members who made a positive impact in my life are the reason why i am where i am today. I will forever be grateful for visions.

This place helped me get off Xanax . I was on it for 11 years. I was able to do a 32 day taper using kolonopin here . It really wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be , not easy but not as bad an experience as I had heard about. It kind of feels like a hotel and the experience feels like school , the staff is very nice and accommodating here .

my daughter came to BNI when she was 17 but before arriving, she had struggled so hard. I can’t even put into words just how much my daughter was struggling with losing her dad, drugs and alcohol. her mental health was completely awful to the point she was self harming and attempting suicide. we had been to the mental health hospital in town MANY MANY times and tried another different residential treatment center for years before evening knowing about BNI. a different treatment center in Northern california that my daughter was at suggested that addison’s needed intensive treatment and care, a higher quality of care and brought BNI to my attention. i wish we would have known about BNI years ago because it truly changed our lives. if you would have told me a year ago that my daughter would be amazing now, i’d laugh in your face (and then cry praying to god for it to come true) addison’s spent 7 months at BNI. we would facetime everyday and had family counseling every friday with a great therapist named Steve. not only did steve treat my daughter as a person and not just a patient or client, the nurses and staff did as well. almost to a point where they seemed like family. not only was BNI a sit down and let’s talk about feelings and but they offered horse therapy, pet therapy, surf therapy and painting class. they also listened to what medication was working and not working and they got her meds right. took time but Dr.A and they staff nailed it. we will forever be grateful for BNI and the staff who became family. o adore them for taking such great care of my daughter and giving her her smile back xoxo
