I hardly ever write reviews, but this one is necessary. First off, I had done extensive research a year ago and found Blume. Unfortunately, I lived out of state and although Blume seemed like an excellent solution, my wife and I felt we needed to be near our daughter, who has a complex history of depression and other mental health challenges, which were exacerbated by her level 1 autism. Hence, we chose an adolescent treatment center near us. Sadly, after our daughter left the center and attended an IOP, which we hoped would change her behavior for the best, she continued to have serious incidents of self harm. Fast forward to this past April, which was a very scary and terrible month, due to our daughter’s decision to harm herself in a greater capacity than she had ever done before. The only solution at this point in time, was an out of state treatment center and my wife and I interviewed multiple facilities. Blume was one of the two finalists and we ultimately chose Blume, based upon a statement from the other facility, that they were “not an autism house.” Beyond this statement being incredibly insulting, it showed a lack of compassion and revealed a lack of acumen, as well. Further, our daughter, as mentioned above, was only level 1, which is not uncommon. Nonetheless, my daughter was admitted to Blume and began her treatment in April, which lasted 72 days. The staff and facilities were extraordinary and the way they managed our daughter was nothing less than superb. As well, we had a guardian angel on our side, in the form of Ramsey, who is the program’s director. Without getting into personal details, I can honestly say that this man was instrumental in saving my daughter’s life. He is a man unlike almost anyone else and the care and compassion, that he ensured my daughter received, was life changing, literally. My wife and I are eternally grateful to Ramsey and Blume and without them, I’m not sure she would be with us today. I cannot imagine there is a better adolescent treatment center in the entire country. On an important related note, my daughter was prescribed Lexapro by her pediatrician a couple years ago and it was so terrible, that we didn’t try any other meds. However, when our daughter was admitted to Blume, my wife and I paid for a GeneSight test and Blume made sure our daughter received this test. It is a game changer because it reveals which meds are effective and which ones are non-effective and/or harmful. This saved us months and months of trying to find out which meds are safe and effective. As well, under Blume’s supervision, any potential side effects were closely watched. Again, words can never express our full gratitude toward Blume and Ramsey and even though there’s no guarantee of what the future holds, they helped our daughter at her lowest point in life. Whatever it is that brought you and your child to this place in life, Blume will make the difference. I want to start with the fear that you must have to send your child to a treatment center. I am sure getting to this point has thrown life in circles. Like me, before finding Blume, I was constantly searching for answers to help my struggling child. My daughter spent 72 days at Blume. Leaving her was the hardest part, but a decision I had to make. First, the intake with Taylor was comforting, warm, compassionate and very professional. There are not enough words to express my gratitude for Ramsey, the director of the program. He was on the initial zoom intake with us and was extremely comforting while answering all of our questions and concerns. My daughter was self harming, extremely depressed and isolated from the world around her. One of the biggest decision factors was the recognition from the team on autism. My daughter suffered and being that she is on the spectrum, she didn't understand fully what was happening. Blume recognizes this and the compassion and knowledge from the team was outstanding. From placing my daughter in the appropriate home, pairing activities and age appropriate tasks, Blume understood the part of her brain that was struggling. The resources Blume provided went outside the box. One of the biggest component was the gene testing. This allowed us to save so much time on meds that wouldn't work with her body genetically. We had weekly family meetings that allowed us to communicate better, have time to reflect and receive tools for a better future. The meds recommended worked and continue to work. I can go on and on. Ramsey is a special person and went above and beyond for our daughter. I didn't see a future for her. Now, she is blossoming, using the tools Blume gave her and has an immense amount of hope for her future. She has great memories from Blume. The staff gave her compassion, care, respect and all in all treated all of us as family during the hardest time in our lives.Huge shot out to Ramsey. We will all be forever grateful. It was also too short of a review to do this place justice for how much they did for me. I would like to also add Mona, Milly, Knacio, Mike, Greg, Lalo and say thank you to all of you as well. I wish I expressed more gratitude on my journey with all of you. I did a lot of growing up there and it was all thanks to everyone not giving up on me even when I wanted to give up on myself. Going through their program and then earning my RADT and working as a Technician at 2 of their Detox locations and House Manager at one of their Sober Livings for them was probably some of my most fulfilling and happiest moments of my life. They showed me who I had the ability to become if I strived hard enough and believed in myself. I don’t know where I would be today or if I would even be alive if it wasn’t for every staff member and even the clients that were all there sharing their life stories and experiences and pushing us to all be better, not only to the people around us but also to ourselves.
