Bayside Marin is an excellent treatment center.
At first, I didn't want to go here, mainly because of negative reviews and hearsay from an acquaintance, and corporate ownership.
But I quickly changed my mind. I came here devestated by a very traumatic year of my life, in as much of a mental health crisis as I was in a substance one. Throughout the length of my stay, I was treated with understanding, patience and compassion.
The bulk of their program is cookie cutter evidence based, but high quality.
The employees at Bayside really care about their work, and their clients, and because of this it didn't have a corporate feel, even though they're owned by Acadia.
What made this stay extra special for me was the therapy and one on one conversations I had with staff. I had the honor and privilege of working with the best therapist I've ever seen. When there's a true match with therapy it can be magical, spiritual. I have transformed into a better version of myself because of the one on one work with my therapist, whose intelligence, wit, patience, and compassion helped me to rise above and shine, despite facing some extremely challenging triggers in residential this time. When you can't fully care about yourself, sometimes you can borrow someone else's faith in you until you're able to care about yourself a little more. By the end of my stay, I felt more confident and centered than I had in a long time.
I also wanted to say, the tech supervisor helped guide me psychologically and spiritually as I faced various challenges at Bayside, and helped revive my interest in spirituality, meditation and awakening.
I had the best spiritual and psychological support I could have asked for, which I thought would be impossible after being at Olympia House in 2022. (Both are good rehabs with their unique strengths and weaknesses. I learned a lot at both, but they're not directly comparable, OH is a little more unique in terms of approach and programming. Bayside was extra meaningful because of the particular therapist I worked with, the behavioral technician supervisor I mentioned and the particular clients I bonded with.
They actually listen to client feedback and I watched them make numerous improvements over the three months I was there.
With that said, there is room for further improvement. Clients are shuffled over to the main campus from detox with very little explanation of where to go and when, which leaves freshly detoxed clients confused, angry, and feeling disrespected. I've been told they're working on fixing this problem.
Scheduling glitches do happen, but that's true of any medium or large rehab. They do their best. And also, sometimes communication can be a little complicated between departments. No place is perfect.
Gorgeous campus. Food was great. I was told this was a rehab for rich people who valued aesthetics over content, but that's not what I found here. They have some incredible talent working for them and client socioeconomic backgrounds are mixed.
Last. I would encourage people, strongly, to ask to change their therapist if the initial assignment isn't a match. I did, and it made all the difference in my stay.

I had a really memorable experience. Totally changed my mindset in a positive way. Dr. Chanter was great along with the other therapists, nurses and staff. My personal experience at new start in concord is was phenomenal. I spent 31 days in the residential program including detox and all around had such a great experience that it was difficult to leave. To start, the medical staff while I was in detox took care of all of my needs. The med techs, nurse practitioners and doctors made sure that I had a comfortable experience while going through the scary process of withdrawing. Not once did I run out of medication and they always made me feel like they cared for my wellbeing and safety. While in residential, the counselors, group facilitators, therapists, and case managers were amazing! Each and every one of them. They had so much knowledge, experience and education, and I learned so much. My personal therapist, Mellisa was absolutely wonderful, and she helped me dig deep and figure out the root causes of my issues that were tied to my past traumas. The family sessions were also extremely helpful. Moving onto the assistant Director and head Director, who both truly cared about the program, the clients, and their staff. It was evident in how the program ran like a perfect machine. They also took us on fun outings, like bowling and going to the beach. The facility was comfortable, clean and well organized. We have full-time staff that keep each bedroom and area of the buildings clean and provided the clients with all of our basic needs. I want to give a shout out to Ofi who was like everyone s mom. We had some awesome amenities too like a gym, A game room, and an outside movie theater with a fire pit. I will truly miss my time at New Start in Concord, and will forever be grateful for this experience. Thank you :)

My girlfriend landed at Heartwood after a relapse and she was in bad shape. She said that every single person who works there was incredibly kind, understanding and accommodating. They do everything they can to make your detox as painless as possible. To her, it wasn t just a place to dry out - she had many insightful conversations about recovery with the staff there (probably every interaction). Unfortunately, she had been to a couple of other detoxes and nothing compares to this place. Very nice & clean house, nourishing & delicious food, and she couldn t say enough kind words about the people who work there.

Been coming here for a long, long time Through my recovery I have had many counselors some better than others funny how things happen my husband transferred to Medmark from BAART in Oakland crazy we both ended up on Rich s case load { R.I.P. RICH another great counselor } so you know we both can t have the same counselors so of course I got kicked to the curb. Best curb I got kicked to { so to speak. } which is currently Nicole Martinez, the best I ve ever had , She definitely help me get to where I am now she goes above and beyond helped me in my life so much, I don t even know what I m gonna do when we goes our separate ways ..I wish I can take her with me. I wish I can give her 20 s but was only given an option of 5 .

The staff here is the best! All of them are very friendly and caring. I personally couldn't ask for a better counselor, Travis is down to earth, straight forward and to the point, yet he is patient, open minded, and always willing to listen before giving his opinion and steering you in the right direction. The number one requirement you must have in order to work at the front desk is to be totally illiterate, unprofessional, depressed, and hard of hearing.Other than trying to be checked in 30 times before they ACTUALLY check you in the nurses are great . They are really the only ones that seem to care about you. And the counselors are a joke so if you are going to get sober you can not depend on this place for Sh but your dose.

Thomas Nguyen, the dentist here is really nice. The girls who work with him were very nice and friendly, too. I am very embarrassed about my teeth and he was so nice and helpful. I am very grateful that I am able to have such a nice dentist. I know someone in Texas where they don't have access to dental insurance with Medicaid. He had a bad tooth and died because he took too much Tylenol, trying to get rid of the pain. In California, low income people on medi-cal also get denti-cal. Just something to think about and be grateful for.

I was locked out due to an unlawful eviction in 2022 & lived in my car for a month while attending St Mary's center. I was a breast cancer survivor until 2023 when I was diagnosed cancer-free & in Feb of that year I was housed in a transitional room through St Mary's. They gave me a safe community where I was able to restart my life, take care of my mental & physical health issues, & in Jan 2024 they helped me get permanent stable housing at Depot Community Apts in Hayward. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because this rehab is great, with the exception of the director Emily. Ms. Kata and Ms. Linda were fantastic, as were many other faculty. It s a great place to be confined without drugs, and the counselors like Mr. Tom and Ms. Rachel spoke volumes to me. Great place especially for active duty military and veterans!My only problem was with Emily the director at the time who will did anything and everything to keep one at the rehab. I think she just wanted the insurance money.Eventually, I left on my own accord because very little counseling is offered. One on one sessions were rare and by the end of my stay, I left because we were just watching movies during group sessions the whole time.All in all, worth the stay but they will be time where people like Emily will test your patience. She may be gone, so hopefully there s someone new.Celebrating two years sober!!! Thank you Helios!

A VERY nice detox center. The staff here are some of the most knowledgeable and caring individuals you'll ever meet. They'll go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The single rooms you stay in each have their own individual bathroom. Their is plenty of food to snack on with healthy options and just enough comfort food to make you feel at home. If you're looking for a comfy rehab with an intimate group setting to talk through your deeply routed issues that got you there in the first place, I can't recommend this place enough. Honestly, I could go on for hours about how incredible of a detox center this is, but you get the gist. I just want to give a big thanks to Jax, Tony, and Jake, who have all been a huge part of my recovery, and who have each shown me that my life in recovery is more than worth fighting for. Much love!

This place saved my husband s life, as well as mine. The admin staff helped me get my husband into a 7-day medical detox program on a very short notice, kept me informed of his progress and followed through with their promise to find a recovery program after the detox. My husband is currently in a recovery program that was recommended by Marina Detox and doing very well. I hope we will never need their services again but for those in need, they may also save your loved ones lives.
