There was no waiting and I was taken immediately. The ENTIRE staff were caring and attended to my every need. During my stay one particular nurse was exceptional SONG LAM. He had a happy disposition, empathetic and frequently came into my room to make sure I was comfortable. This made me feel encouraged over my condition. After running many tests, I was given IV antibiotics and discharged quickly within 4 hours. I went home feeling happy and positive over such a good experience. SGVMC is an exceptional hospital. I always choose to go here over any other hospitals in the area. The entire staff works well with each other and you can tell they like working with each other. This is very important to me because I feel WELL taken care of! Thank you for an excellent experience! E 9 months ago I have been in and out of the hospital for the last four months. I had a wound that went septic across my abdomen. I’ve had A couple of stays in this hospital on two different floors, the third floor and the fourth floor. This hospital and it’s staff is amazing. The care I got was amazing. They will book your flights, pick you up at the airport, etc. Additionally, they handle all of the behind-the-scenes parts (i.e. contacting your workplace, paperwork, etc.). The facility for detox / residential is top notch. You get lunch and dinner catered. You can also make a grocery list for them to get for you. The staff is top notch. I was spoiled with how great my case manager was. The medical techs were also great. I had a mental breakdown and one of them brought me into her office to talk be back to sanity. Basically, how it works is you spend thirty days at the detox / residential facility. The first week-ish is your detox. The rest is going to group courses. Once you complete that, you have the option to do their PHP program (residential living). Much more freedom, fewer classes. If you are someone who has had a history with and have gotten out of religion, AA is pushed heavily on you. Thankfully, I was allowed to go another route for semi-daily meetings once I reached the PHP phase. Bring items comforting you. For me, it was definitely a different area than the Midwest. I certainly wish I had brought by blanket that was breathable in the warm climate. All in all, this was a great opportunity to meet new friends AND get out of whichever substance you have had an issue with. Over time, this place became so much more than just a rehab facility to me. The staff truly cared about me as a person, not just another client walking through the door. The support, structure, conversations, and friendships I built there gave me the foundation I needed to finally start over. I’m still sober today, and I constantly think about how different my life could look if I hadn’t made the decision to go to treatment. I've been to two different rehabs before this one (one being a well-known, Nationwide facility) and this is by far the superior institution. They have several different levels of care to assist in every stage of the rehabilitation process. The detox was smooth and cautious; I felt extremely safe and comfortable. The group sessions are gentle and inviting, to let clients know that they are in capable hands and an accepting environment. The therapy sessions dive deep into the mental health issues that lead to addiction. The staff is professional when they need to be, but also speak to clients like they are real people and not just another patient. The homey atmosphere (as opposed to a hospital setting) makes the experience both realistic and comforting. The way it's ran shows clients that they can live a normal, sober life. It impacts their recovery journey by letting clients set attainable daily and long-term goals. The staff empowers each client to know they have the strength to pursue these goals, with the help from them and then eventually on their own. This was due to my own perceptions and stigma on being open with total strangers on my addiction. I didn't realize that a communal atmosphere is just what I needed to open up and take care of well being. I stayed for 6 months at the Haven House in Long Beach. They had so many resources for me getting my life back on the right track. I found a setting of other guys who had been through so much and were there to listen and to encourage my progress. I honestly felt like staying resort for rehabilitating everything about myself. We did yoga to help the mind and body. We had movie nights to laugh and think and engage in life conversations. The best part was the proximity to the beach. We had a lot of outings and picnics along the Long Beach Shore. Nexus. 5 letters that make up a word I want to shout from the rooftops with such profound gratitude. Yes, my family member chose to do the work, take it seriously, make it a priority in their life, but it is also about who you surround yourself with. Nexus gave my family member a community bringing people into our lives which have changed it for the better. Nexus gave my family member counseling which has opened them up to realizing their true potential without the need of drugs or alcohol – they are just grateful to be walking in their shoes sober. And one of the most important attributes of Nexus you may ask? Those that run the program. Halim, Johnnie, Rob, and Dano. I will never forget the first night I talked to Halim. And I say “talked” as if it was only one time. We spoke at least 10 times and he was a savior. He picked my family member up from somewhere where they were drowning and brought them to the Playa house. I was in a different state and was powerless but Halim was there. How could I have been more fortunate? I am forever indebted to the people that work at the Playa house (house manager, supervisors, techs, case managers, drivers) and the program Nexus has brought to our lives. Nothing is more important to me then family, and Nexus gave me my family back. Danielle Fischer 2 years ago I was stumbling around the barren wasteland of treatment centers desperate enough to buy the guise of empathetic adversaries stating they care for you promising water and nourishment only to be a mirage in the futile landscape (south Florida). So I showed up on a rainy day in Los Angeles and was greeted by great staff, met my therapist Melissa (amazing person and professional) and started group therapy. Delena, a group therapist at Nexus, is a god send and at this point I believe she might literally be an Earth Angel that brings light to all of the darkness that we think we believe when we get sober. I started to have hope for my future and felt like the impossible was now possible. Somewhere in the mix I met Kurt (another group therapist) I don’t know what exactly he does or how he does it... but he changed my life because I was always seeking answers to questions unattainable or that others never had the capacity to answer... but the best way to talk about Kurt is to not talk about Kurt and let people experience spirituality on THEIR terms! All the staff is wonderful shout out to UA Nick. Big Jeff will help you with all of your outside stuff legal, work ect but also knows what he is talking about in recovery and in spirituality. Halim Daniel is the go to guy for pretty much anything. He holds his staff just as accountable as the clients. Lastly, I’d recommend this place for anyone serious about recovery. The best testimony comes from clients and past members and what stands out to me is that a lot of past members are still sober or clean. We are all pretty close too. If you are fed up with the treatment industry I understand how you Feel. From the very first phone call to Nexus I knew we had found the right place. The initial contact was loving, warm, and encouraging which was exactly what I needed in those early days of his sobriety. Over the course of his seven months at Nexus those same traits from that first phone call grew and worked magic on my son. I can’t know what happened daily or even weekly at Nexus, but I know the changes I saw in my son. The young man he was destined to be was awakened and nurtured by Nexus. All the staff and counselors were extremely professional and took pride in there jobs. Many are recovering addicts with years of sobriety themselves and can relate to you in a way that most others can’t. I felt it was a safe place to be vulnerable and open up to the reasons why I became an addict in the first place.
