This center is beautiful within itself being at the top in the mountains with nature and wildlife surrounding. I’ve read a few negative reviews here and from my experience, these are petty complains due to certain persons just not getting their overly unrealistic expectations met but for the average respectable person who knows when in rehab and during detox, there are always times where one feels badly, however this is not the recovery centers fault, it’s just the nature of detoxing and learning coping skills and dealing with personal addictive habits, codependencies, and traumas. I’m interested in seeing how they improve these things in the future and will definitely stay in touch, for being my first time in a treatment program overall was a GREAT experience and will and well as am VERY GRATEFUL and this place saved my life. Ray and Ceaser as well as Aida Kailey and Tim had a HUGE impact in my recovery and for the other support staff LVN Jose, Nate, Sean, Corky, Melissa and Andy are all VERY AWESOME and genuine and REALLY deserve to have a say in the future improvements and coardination of curriculum going forward. What touched us most was the genuine care they showed not only toward myself but toward my newborn baby. Each nurse handled my baby with such tenderness, warmth, and love. It was obvious that they understood how precious and emotional this time was for our family. Their kindness went far beyond simply performing their nursing duties. I would also like to recognize the volunteers who assisted us during our stay. Their friendliness, willingness to help, and positive attitudes made the environment feel more welcoming. Even the smallest gestures of kindness made a difference during a time when our family was tired, emotional, and adjusting to having a new baby. The cleaning and environmental services staff also deserve recognition. They were respectful, professional, and considerate whenever they entered the room. They worked hard to keep the environment clean and comfortable while being mindful of my recovery and the needs of my newborn. From the beginning, Jessica displayed an outstanding level of professionalism while also being warm, approachable, and compassionate. One of the things my sister appreciated most was how thoroughly Jessica explained everything. She never simply did something without making sure my sister understood what was happening. She took the time to answer questions, explain procedures, provide helpful information, and make sure my sister felt comfortable and informed. Jessica was also extremely gentle and attentive. She paid attention to the little things and made my sister feel like her concerns mattered. Her interactions with the baby were equally heartwarming. She handled the baby with such tenderness and care, and it was clear that she genuinely loved what she did. This place was my saving grace, and gave me a second chance in life. I lost my kids due to drugs, and because of GHW, I was able to get on the right track back to having them home with me again. Gibson House for Women gave me my life back! My counselor, Danielle, was and will always be my angel. She had my back from day 1, and was always on top of things. All of the counselors are amazing - they all really do care and most have been down the same roads so they know what you're going through. I was housed with 30 other woman here, and every single one of them became my sober sisters - the most incredible group of women I've ever met iny life. We all had each other to lean on during those times of hardship, and comfort was always there. This place truly is magical, and I can't thank GHW, and the women I went through treatment with enough for everything they've done for me. It was a miracle I ended up here, and the program wasn't exactly easy, but I needed their strict structure at the time, and am so grateful for it. My advice to anyone reading this is STICK WITH IT! IT'S SO WORTH THE REWARDS IN THE END. Don't let anyone take you out of character and destroy the peace you so much deserve. Haven't touched alcohol since July 13th 2016. I always look back on the month I spent here fondly despite the circumstances of needing to check in to rehab being one of the darkest times of my life. The people complaining it's not some 5 star hotel are mental. Yeah you get a tiny bed, you have a bunk mate and the facilities arent the greatest but if you're spending time here you're not there for pleasure. The group therapy and structured days were exactly what my addict/alcoholic self needed. The fact it wasn't some bourgeoisie cushy hotel stay helped me focus on what I was there to do which was to address my alcoholism and addiction. The staff were some of the best guys I have ever met. They all had hearts to serve the lord and love others. They welcomed me with open arms and loved me when I couldn’t love myself. They patiently waited for me to let my walls down and expose my heart. I desperately wanted to get closer to the Lord but I couldn’t have imagined the depth of the Journey I was about to go on!
