I have read a few of the other reviews and I have to say that I disagree with most of them. While the check in process and the wait times for the pharmacy are a bit long and tiresome, I have had good experiences with each Dr., nurse and desk attendant I have dealt with.

South Shores Recovery is a dual-diagnosis drug rehab and substance use treatment facility in Dana Point, California. They serve adult men and women with detox and outpatient programs.. The treatment center creates a trauma-informed individualized curriculum for every client, comprising conventional, evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavior
I attended South Shore Rehab in February 2026, and it was by far the best rehab experience I've ever had. Before coming here, I'd been to hospitals and treatment centers that felt more like jail cells than places of healing. What made South Shore different was the people and the environment. Every staff member truly cared about helping us recover. Instead of being locked down most of the day sitting in front of a TV, we participated in classes, went on outings, attended meetings, and learned about the disease of addiction and how to live a sober life. The home-like setting made a huge difference for me. It felt like living in a normal household, with doctors, nurses, and staff always there to keep everyone safe and provide support. That environment gave me the opportunity to focus on recovery instead of just getting through the day. I met so many people just like me, which showed me I wasn't alone and that long-term sobriety is truly achievable. To everyone at South Shore—thank you. I have never stayed sober this long in my life after years of substance abuse, and I genuinely owe so much of that success to this place. If you're looking for a rehab where the staff truly care and recovery is the priority, I can't recommend South Shore enough.

Excellent treatment program! Inpatient care with the feel of home! I just spent six weeks in treatment with these wonderful people and I cannot speak highly enough to describe the care I received. Literally, from the first phone call, through treatment and discharge, my needs came first. The staff were amazing. The groups were relevant and extremely beneficial. Accomodations were very comfortable. Most important for me, I'm at home with 48 days of sobriety and I'm equipped with the tools necessary to have a great chance of staying that way. If you are suffering from addiction like I was, please give South Shores Recovery a call. You will not regret it!

I spent 46 days at South Shores and it was the best choice and investment in my life. The staff is very professional and friendly and I miss them all very much. The program is well structured and gives you the tools you need for sobriety. I highly recommend South Shores for anyone who is struggling with addiction because it works. I love my new sober life, and I have South Shores to thank for that.

After 35+ years of drinking and drugging I had finally had enough. I was way past rock bottom. I was so miserable and couldn’t seem to do anything about it. I had completely destroyed my life by letting alcohol and drugs take over everything. I was standing on my front porch in August of 2021 drunk as ever wanting to die. I had been to rehabs and detox centers over and over and over throughout those 35+ years and nothing ever seemed to work. Something told me to reach out one last time and I thought to myself that if it doesn’t work this time then I am done with life. Here is how I know that my God exists. I dialed the number for a rehab in Chattanooga, Tn. The man that answered was in Murrieta, California at a treatment center called Solution Based Treatment & Detox. They took care of everything and on August 19th, 2021 I was on a plane headed for California. I will never forget the experience of SBT&D. The way that they operate is amazing. They gave me tools to make it through life without all of the nonsense. They showed genuine care and concern for every individual there. You will never find a place as committed to a persons recovery as they are.I learned a lot while I was there and met some really great people. Some of us still stay in touch. The best part about the whole experience, I am still clean and sober! My life is so much better than it was before. I’m not saying that I have a perfect life (it is pretty great though) but I do have an absolute promising clean and sober future ahead of me and it is all because SBT&D taught me that I could enjoy this thing called life without alcohol and drugs. Thank You SBT&D!

I can honestly say that what Rachel did for me in our individual sessions fundamentally changed the way I understand myself. She is brilliant, warm, and precise in a way that makes you feel genuinely seen rather than analyzed. I came in broken and left with actual tools, not platitudes. AToN saved my life, and I don't say that lightly as someone who completed their program two years ago and has stayed sober since. Dr. Kevin's approach to clinical care is unlike anything I encountered in years of outpatient therapy. He has a way of cutting through the noise and getting to what's actually driving the behavior, without ever making you feel judged or reduced. The group sessions, the holistic work, the food, the grounds - all of it creates an environment where healing doesn't just feel possible, it feels inevitable. If you're on the fence, please get off it. This place is the real thing.

I went through the program at AToN and it changed everything. The care, the setting, the people - there is nothing else like it. This disease is insidious - it's doing push-ups and waiting for us to take our guards down. Don't let it ruin your life like it tried to do to mine. I didn't let it and AToN helped me along the way. Thanks.

I am so blessed to be able to experience such an amazing place and people. I called and spoke with Elliot. He made the intake process easy for me. Even throughout my time there, he was on top of his game with my paperwork and answered all my question regarding insurnace and EDD. Angel had me look at the world from a different view which helped me gain insight into what I had control of. I plan on continuing to see her after I leave. Nicolas was amazing. He did an amazing job facilitating groups and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much for everything. If anyone is looking for a place to find help, this is the place. Look no further than Mindful.

Kick ass, down to earth, mind , body and spiritual experience. Small program but individualized for personal growth. My trip there was some what short due to needing a higher level of care....but I will return for PHP and IOP. Elliot: Right from the first phone call, Elliot clearly articulated the therapeutic approach, making me feel confident. He emphasized both group and individual therapy, which was exactly what I needed. Nicholas: As a facilitator, psychologist, guru, and teacher led with experience . Nicholas felt like a guide, he helped me tune into my inner self, enabling me to make better decisions. His presence was transformative. Angel: Angel, my therapist, didn’t give me answers, she guided me inward. Her support was constant, and she advocated for my transition to a higher level of care. Megan: The bodybuilding doctor next door, Megan, got me moving! I wasn’t one for working out, but her energy and care had me feeling so good, I even attempted to give back by cleaning the windows. Lol I actually ruined the sticker with her logo and she took it with a grain of salt. I will replace it . (^-^) Every interaction was tailored, making this program truly special. I have learned so much and they allowed me to grow towards the goals I've wanted to have for years. Not at all the sit and be bored type of atmosphere. More like sit, share, breath, learn , walk, have fun, place to cry, safe place to be, and a spot where I got totally honest for the first time in many moons. I strive to be better by their guidance and compationate ways they have taught me what to do.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Transformative Experience at Ocean Hills Recovery My experience at Ocean Hills Recovery in Dana Point was nothing short of transformative. What makes this place exceptional isn’t just the beautiful surroundings or the thoughtfully structured program—it’s the people who show up every day with genuine heart, expertise, and unwavering commitment. From day one, Aubrey set the tone with warmth and professionalism, helping me feel grounded and welcome. Chris, Sarah, Jacob and Jesse brought a blend of compassion and clarity to the clinical side, offering insights that were not only therapeutic but truly life-changing. Angel and Geoff provided steady encouragement, meeting me exactly where I was while still helping me see what I was capable of. In groups and one-on-one work, Frank, Caroline, and Amber created an environment where honesty felt safe and growth felt possible. Meredith and CJ had an incredible ability to turn even the hard conversations into moments of progress. Kevin and Rocky offered wisdom and humor in just the right balance—two qualities that carried me through some challenging days. The support staff deserves just as much appreciation. Heidi, Jess, Dayton, Ricky, Jonas, and Ryan were the steady heartbeat of daily life at Ocean Hills—whether through a check-in, a shared conversation, a practical solution, or simply being present when someone needed it most. Their kindness never felt forced; it felt human, and that made all the difference. What truly sets Ocean Hills apart is the way each team member contributes something unique, yet they all work seamlessly together. Their collective energy creates a culture of hope, accountability, and genuine connection—something rare and deeply meaningful in recovery work. I left Ocean Hills not only with tools and clarity, but with a renewed sense of possibility. I’m profoundly grateful for every person who helped me rediscover strength, purpose, and hope. I would recommend Ocean Hills Recovery to anyone seeking real change surrounded by people who truly care. I am coming back to update my review because now I have 246 days of recovery. The foundation I’ve built at Ocean Hills is the strongest I’ve ever had in 26 years of trying to get sober. When it works, you just want the whole world to know it’s possible. We DO recover.

OHR was absolutely one of the best experiences of my life. I found a safe and nurturing environment where I was finally able to open up, face the root causes of my struggles, and begin truly healing. I left with a seed planted in me for a better future, and the staff played a huge role in that. Darren — the most important person in this entire process for me. Without him, none of this would have happened. He went above and beyond in ways I can’t even fully explain, even coming to see me at the house personally when I needed support most. That meant more than words can describe. Caitlyn — one of the most understanding and caring people you will ever meet. She genuinely makes you feel heard and supported. Liem — honestly a charge nurse in disguise. If you have an issue, she gets it handled quickly, professionally, and with compassion. Truly an icon. Sara — amazing at making sure everyone has what they need around the house. Down to earth and just an all-around good soul. Gwen — no-nonsense and straight to the point, but incredibly kind even during the most confusing or difficult moments. Lili — a true role model as a counselor. She kept me accountable, helped me stay on track with my goals, and never let me self-sabotage when things got hard. Collette — a world-class therapist. She has a way of breaking you down emotionally in the best possible way, helping you understand yourself deeply so you can rebuild into a stronger and healthier version of yourself. Jason — the gentle giant. He talked me off the ledge multiple times and always knew how to bring calm into chaos. Definitely somebody you should listen to and get advice from. Geof — the best advocate I could’ve asked for during some of my hardest moments. When emotions were running high, he always knew how to help me cool off and reset my mind. Sometimes that meant getting me out near the water so I could breathe and clear my head before making things worse. Just an all-around badass with a huge heart. Hedi — the best lead staff member you could ask for. Truly a real one. During my first days, when everything felt overwhelming, sometimes all I needed was somebody to look me in the eyes and tell me things were going to be alright. She did that for me. Daniela — another amazing client advocate, with a gentler and sweeter approach. You’ll rarely catch her without a smile or laughing. Truly a beautiful soul and woman of God. And to everybody else I may have forgotten — please know I love and appreciate all of you deeply. There were so many people who helped carry me through this process, and I truly could not have done it without you.

This recovery place is amazing. I went in July 11, 2016. I have been sober since July 12, 2016. I was there for 82 days. I honestly wanted to stay longer, but the opportunity to even get the chance to work on my recovery in such a beautiful place was a blessing. The team was awesome and I gained knowledge and understanding of my addiction along with tools to continue on when I got back home. I think what really helped was this was out of state from where I lived, And I believe that really helped me and my recovery. Being taken out of my Environment and put into a different one really gave me fresh perspective. Coming up on 10 years of sobriety Lord willing, and yes, it’s a lot of work but it’s worth it. I'm so thankful for the team at NMW. I came from out of state after seeing a friend of mine get clean here. I'm now 6 months sober and I'm back to loving myself and life. Juanita and the intake staff make the process with the insurance companies and arrival seamless so you can focus purely on recovery. The staff, main facility, housing, programs and activities are top class. I really couldn't say better things about their program. I wish I would have made it years ago. If you're on the fence like I was don't wait another day, week, year and just call them. You will not regret it.

At the time in my life when I needed a place for healing this name came up immediately! At that time I thought it was too good to be true. I had never been to a treatment center before and did not know what to expect. If that is you, just know that it is real and absolutely amazing! They have someone on staff in particular who is truly an angel. Don’t get me wrong all of the staff are incredible but, this one lady, Juanita practically saved my life. From the initial calls to get me there to being in touch with me at each airport that I had to transfer from, Juanita showed me how much she cared about me. In saying this please keep in mind she did not know me from Adam. She simply knew I was broken and needed help. She will forever be my guardian angel! The facility itself is beautiful. The location is great. The therapy is second to none in my honest opinion. I learned so much about me and what broke me. I wholeheartedly recommend NMW to anyone that needs recovery including mental health and or addiction. They will see YOU the individual. I truly believe in my heart that they are not in it for the money. They are doing what they do to save lives and show us all that there is healing and a bright future ahead of you no matter what has happened in the past.

I want to express my gratitude for the amazing program of ARC. A few years ago I was stuck in a major cycle of addition. I was terrified and did not even want to live anymore. My family talked me into asking for help. I tried to get help in my local area of Louisville Ky witch actually has some amazing recovery. However God had different plans. I called the addiction hotline and explained my circumstances. They found a place that could help me safely detox from the many substances I was putting in my body. They said we have your bed ready and your plane ticket booked. Fear immediately set in but I knew I could not continue on my path of distruction so I got on the plane. When I arrived in California I was taken under the wings of the amazing staff at ARC. I was met with compassion and care on a level that completely changed the course of my life forever. They showed me how to be sober one day at a time. We laughed together, cried together and I developed friendships that I still have today. When I was early in recovery my emotions were so strong. My therapist Jenn spent all the extra time with me that I needed. The staff met me where I was at and supported my journey every step of the way. The thing I miss the most besideds the very extravant home I was staying in was the programing, we did our classes and learned about adiction, but they also promoted healing with yoga, meditation, sound baths, harp players, you name it. They would take us on outings and show us that sober can be fun too. The 75 days spent in the ARC Program was a truly spiritual experience. After coming back home to Kentucky I was armed with the facts about my disease and a plan that they helped me set up for success. The biggest thing is though that even though I completed the program ARC still keeps in touch with me to see how im doing. I talk to Casey frequently and let her know what my life looks like as the result of what they are doing at ARC to change peoples lives. My Thank you could never be great enough for the amount of gratitude I have for this program. #800DAYSCALIRECOVERYARCSTRONG

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Able 2 Change for their exceptional support in assisting those battling addiction and mental health challenges. I recently had the privilege of collaborating with them to guide a family member toward treatment. The admission process was both thorough and efficient. The clinical team established a meaningful connection, significantly impacting my cousin's recovery journey. Additionally, the family program provided invaluable education for our family. The alumni support has helped my cousin feel embraced while reintegrating into the community.

I recently spent 30 days at Alter Health in Dana Point, and I can’t speak highly enough of the experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt safe, supported, and surrounded by compassion. The facility itself is absolutely beautiful — serene, clean, and designed for healing. With a small group of only six clients, there was a strong sense of community, and I received plenty of personalized attention. The staff-to-client ratio is excellent, and I was able to have frequent one-on-one therapy sessions, along with support whenever I needed it. The therapists and staff truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, cared for, and progressing in our healing journeys. The food was also a highlight — healthy, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. Every detail of the program felt intentional and supportive. I can honestly say my time at Alter Health was life-altering. I left with tools, insights, and a renewed sense of peace. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to heal in a truly nurturing environment.

Monte Catini was a place where, for the first time in a long time, I felt like I wasn’t just a diagnosis. My treatment team was incredible — supportive, attentive, and genuinely invested in my recovery. The director of nursing, especially, made a huge difference. She listened, she cared, and she helped me feel safe in a body that often didn’t. Most of the staff went above and beyond. I was surrounded by people who made me feel human again, and that mattered more than I can say. That’s why my discharge was so painful. When I spoke up about what I was struggling with — not to act on anything, but to ask for help — I was discharged. It felt like the decision came from fear, not from understanding. I wish the CEO had taken the time to hear me out, to collaborate on a plan instead of making me feel like I no longer belonged there. I didn’t want to leave. I was doing the hard work. I just needed more support — not a closed door. Despite how it ended, I’m still grateful for the care I received at Monte. I grew a lot during my time there, and many of the people I met left a lasting impact on me. I just wish I had been given the chance to stay and keep going.

Montecatini Review – by Kelley Goode Montecatini was, for me, a place of deep transformation, held together by a handful of truly extraordinary people. I came in uncertain, fragile, and afraid—but there were individuals there who showed up for me in powerful and lasting ways. Alixe, my therapist, was nothing short of phenomenal. Her ability to cut through the noise and get to the heart of things is a gift. She is fierce, insightful, and deeply compassionate—a force to be reckoned with. The work I did with her was some of the most meaningful therapy I’ve ever had, and I will carry it with me always. Janel, who served as one of the house moms, held such a loving and nurturing presence. Her warmth, humor, and grounded care made all the difference on hard days. I will be eternally grateful for her steady kindness and for the way she made the house feel like a safe place to land. Lexi is an intelligent and wise woman who clearly lives by her values. Natalie has a heart of gold while still being able to “throw down” when needed—fierce and loving in equal measure. Katie brings together wit, intelligence, and humor in a way that makes her instantly magnetic. Emily, although officially the exercise physiologist, could easily be a therapist with her deep ability to listen and truly hear people. Glee made me feel seen every single day, simply by saying hello each time we passed. Yasmine is elegance defined, with a wicked sense of humor that always made me smile. Dr. Morache is one of the kindest, funniest, most loving men I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting—an absolute gem in the field. The BHA team are the backbone of the program—dedicated, tireless, and deeply compassionate. The nurses bust their butts in a very hard situation, and their work deserves immense respect and recognition. Not everything was perfect—particularly the food, which often felt like an afterthought in an environment where nourishment is central to healing. But despite that, the human beings at Monte—those who truly show up—are what made the experience valuable. To those staff members who gave their full hearts: thank you. You helped me find parts of myself I thought I had lost.

For reasons I hope to one day understand, I have more experience with rehab facilities than most, certainly more than I care to think about. I drank alcoholically for years and had plenty of experience getting DUI’s. What I didn’t have was the self-honesty to accept I had a problem. After 12 years of trying with little success, the team at Present Moments moments helped me learn how to live an honest, sober life. It honestly didn’t happen on the first try for me, I’ve been met with a warm welcome back to PM more than once. Sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly - that’s what the Big Book of AA says. Today, with five years of sobriety, my life is beyond anything I ever dreamed could be mine. I took my 29 year old daughter to detox for heroine addiction for the first time at 15! She has been to 100’s of treatment facilities in the last 14 years, but can’t stay clean. Sometimes quickly, sometime slowly. My experience with her in the 3 years before she turned 18 was that maybe 1 in 10 treatment facilities can be trusted or has any integrity. Present Moments is the 1 in 10 without any doubt. Ask my 25 year old son what he thinks of PM, he’ll say they saved his life too. It’s a long story, but my son ended a 7 year daily 1/5th of vodka habit earlier this year, checked into PM with a 4.1 BAC I might add for color, spent 30 days there and just celebrated 6 months as a sober man. He says he was existing before, PM and Alcoholics Anonymous showed him how to live. In an industry full of ‘money first, care second’ and ‘one size fits all’ treatment centers, Mark and Amy put care first and somehow find a way to figure the rest out. I learned how to live a sober life in 6 months at the PM sober living house. I learned how to get honest and accept that I’m an alcoholic in 5 weeks at PM recovery. Amy even created a new supervisory program for me to get ongoing care and comply with a court order while living at home for 5 months. That’s what I mean by ‘figure the rest out.’ My sober son who now works at a local treatment facility, is a miracle that started at PM. My entire amazing life started with lessons I learned and help I received from the people at Present Moments Recovery. PM is a rare example of clinical excellence, unquestionable integrity, individualized care, and creative problem solving. 6 stars out of 5 for Present Moments Recovery

This is a very thorough program covering counseling, IOPs, and housing needs. Not only do they understand the patient, they are also very well connected in the recovery ecosystem and guide you to further steps as needed. They work with your needs, and also believe in second chances (can't be grateful enough for that!). Highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to find support for a loved one.

If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired like I was, and you’re ready and willing to reach out for help, please do. SCRC is an amazing recovery center ready to help you just like they helped me. Not only is it near the beach, where I had many long walks as I began my journey in sobriety, but everything they do is geared towards meeting you where you’re at and walking along side you. The staff is amazing, many of whom are on their own journey in sobriety, with the sincere desire to give back to those yearning for healing, change, and purpose. The sober houses are just what I needed and gave me the time and safe space to begin to change. Along with specific group time and counseling provided by the center, they encourage 12 step meetings, getting a sponsor and working the steps. It is through working the steps where I truly found the healing and change necessary to live sober and free. SCRC supported me all along the way providing the space and resources to entirety focus on my own walk in early sobriety. Today I have a life I always wanted but could never have with the chains of my addiction. If you think there is no hope like I did, I hope my experience will give you the hope you can get free too. I am forever grateful to SCRC and highly recommend them for you too. You are loved and you don’t have to do this alone.
