I have struggled with alcohol abuse for the last three years and this was the ONE place out of 23 treatment centers that finally worked. Nobody ever thought they would see me sober, but today I can say I am, thanks to Sober Life. I was a frequent relapser, just barely making it by, and when I decided to seek treatment through Sober Life a whole new world opened for me. The team at Sober Life cares. I felt valued, I felt empowered, understood and heard. After being in and out of so many treatment centers I found myself fatigued, but through my process with Sober Life I actually wanted to continue my program as long as I could. I WANTED to be there and I've learned a life I never knew possible thanks to the team there. I can say that this program likely saved my life, and showed me a new life that I could never have imagined. The support and understanding was beyond belief. I felt so safe there. I've made friendships with a lot of my peers from groups as well. Which I never wanted to do before. Recovery can be difficult to begin, scary to start, but Sober Life feels SAFE. I'm not the type to write reviews, but I know how hard I struggled and for anyone reading this or questioning a start, I highly recommend this team. I am eternally grateful for my experience there.

Sober life has been one of the best experiences in my life! I came in not really sure what I wanted out of treatment and scared to really connect with people and have them see me in my weaker moments. All of the staff at sober life loved me through these issues and helped me get to a place where I felt safe and comfortable enough to communicate what was really going on with me, and gave me the tools I needed to be able to deal with things as they came up on a daily basis. Anytime I was a little off or lost any amount of momentum, they noticed immediately and did whatever they could to make sure I continued my progress and that even though addiction is a lonely disease, it became a lot easier to believe I wasnt alone and recovery is possible. It wasn't complicated at all, they handle the insurance stuff for you so you can focus and prioritize your recovery over anything else. Kimberly, Dan, Ashley, and Kelley have all been huge grounding stones in my recovery, showing up every time and helping me make solutions out of chaos. Having all of these amazing, kind, and extremely dependable people in my life has kept me steady and also taught me what having people around who genuinely love you, want the best for you, and who celebrate your achievements and help you through your downfalls looks like. Like any recovery program, you have to want it and put in your own effort, but they make the weight just lighter enough that it seems much more attainable.

From the moment I arrived, I was treated with dignity, compassion, and respect during a time I needed all three.
Everyone I interacted with made an effort to understand me as a person, not just someone going through a difficult chapter. I felt supported without feeling judged, and cared for without feeling like I had lost my independence. The environment was comfortable, private, and much more welcoming than I expected from a detox and recovery center.
The combination of care, structure, support, and genuine human connection gave me the space I needed to ground myself and think clearly about what I wanted to do moving forward. Restore and the people there had a real impact on me, and I left feeling stronger and more hopeful than when I walked through the doors.
I would absolutely recommend Restore. Asking for help can be one of the hardest decisions someone makes. I’m grateful Restore was there when I made mine.

So what do I say about Steven and Restore Detox Centers? When I entered through the doors of this facility, I was a completely defeated and tormented soul as a result of the ravages of addiction.
I had arrived at the end of myself!
All my own ideas about how to live my life had failed me, but THIS is precisely where the LIGHT stepped in and met me; in the total darkness of my own demolition, destruction, degeneration, degradation and demoralization.
I was hopeless!
I didn't believe that I could recover from this seemingly hopeless state of mind and body and like the song by America, "Lonely People" states, I believed that "life had passed me by."
Well, here I am some time later, and I can HONESTLY share with you, from the very Top of my heart, that my life is indescribably wonderful now.
My seconds and minutes and hours of each day were filled with torment and dread!
Now, they have been replaced with enthusiastically looking forward to seeing the wonderful friends that I have made, the smiles and hugs that I am greeted with, and the super cool testimonies that I get to continuosly hear!
I was asked to take some simple steps (12), not easy but simple, and I was told that I didn't even have to believe.
I just had to take these simple actions and they would result in an experience that would prove their effectiveness.
If you're in a place of abject bewilderment and confusion and you have come to the end of yourself, please know that a new You is waiting to emerge; a new, Regenerated, Rejuvenated, RESTORED, and Reconciled (to Self, Family, Friends and God) version of You is waiting to be born!
And an acutely wonderful place to begin this journey is with Steven and his kind, caring, warm and empathetic staff at Restore Detox Centers.
"Don't give up until you drink from the Silver cup and ride that Highway in the Sky!"
Let the journey begin!

When my son experienced a relapse, he was only at this facility for a couple of days, but those three days left a lasting impression on our family. From the very beginning, Steven treated both my son and us with genuine compassion, honesty, and respect. He didn't offer false promises or sugarcoat the challenges of recovery, but he also never lost sight of our son as a person who deserved hope and dignity. It was clear that he truly cared—not just about getting someone through detox, but about helping them find a path to lasting recovery. As a parent, feeling understood and supported during such a difficult time meant more than I can express. I am deeply grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and authentic concern we experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where people are treated with both compassion and accountability.

My father has been attending this recovery place. Watching someone you love struggle is one of the most painful experiences life can offer. Life-Changing Experience at Pacific Bay Recovery Center
As a mom, choosing a rehab for my son was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. After researching countless facilities in San Diego, we decided on Pacific Bay Recovery Center, and I can confidently say it was the best decision we ever made.
Pacific Bay didn’t just help my son recover—they saved his life. From the very beginning, they treated him like family. The care and compassion from every staff member, from the therapist and psychiatrist to the case managers, were unparalleled. They didn’t just see my son as another patient; they truly invested in his well-being and future.
The individualized attention he received made all the difference. The therapists were deeply insightful, helping him understand and address the root causes of his struggles. The psychiatrist provided thoughtful, expert guidance, and the case managers were a source of constant support, ensuring he stayed on track every step of the way.
Beyond the clinical care, the atmosphere at Pacific Bay is warm and welcoming—a safe haven for anyone seeking to rebuild their life. They created a nurturing environment where my son felt seen, heard, and valued.
Today, my son is thriving, and it’s all thanks to the dedicated team at Pacific Bay. I am forever grateful to them for giving me my son back and helping him rediscover hope, purpose, and joy. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond to treat your loved one with the care they deserve, I cannot recommend Pacific Bay Recovery Center highly enough.

The location is absolutely perfect, the counselors and employees are knowledgeable and extremely helpful, and the community there was better than any of the other rehabs I went to. The only reason they lose a star is because they started charging my lab work to my out of pocket card instead of billing it through my insurance, causing me to suddenly owe over 100,000$ in the middle of my stay. I got it figured out so thank god I didn’t have to pay anything, but still I can’t even begin to imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t figured that out. We especially appreciated the small group setting (only about six kids), which allows for individualized attention and meaningful peer connections.

Most importantly, she left with real skills she’s already using at home. My daughter’s mental health symptoms showed up at age thirteen. It seemed like overnight we went from having a typical child who enjoyed spending time with family, playing with friends, reading books, going on outings to just wanting to die. It was a very scary and confusing place for our family. I tried and tried to find providers who could help her. She went to multiple providers and programs with little change. After our insurance changed, we were able to start treatment at Evolve. From the very beginning, I felt that we were in good hands. The staff are well trained and the program is well designed. My daughter’s behaviors and our family’s communication patterns changed dramatically. After four years of feelings as if I had lost my daughter, I have my daughter back. I’m grateful that the providers at Evolve have extensive knowledge and experience with teens with mental health issues, and we finally got the help we needed!

Evolve did wonders for our teen. I'm sure it's hard for them to get reviews as this is such a private matter. The whole process is utterly heartbreaking. You don't end up here because you wanna be here. That being said they worked with us as a family so well. I really liked that. They involve you in the treatment and try to ensure that you will have the tools necessary to help your child continue on their path of healing. The path is BUMPY, and it heartbreaking. I remember graduating out of program thinking I don't know if I am ready to do it without them. They helped us navigate tough topics and issues our teen would shut down on us with. Helped us see each other's sides. Helped our teen see themeself. When we graduated out were ok and we did move forward on our own. As a family we are so thankful for the staff at Evolve and the forever impact they have made on our child's life. The skills they shared, our kiddo still uses. Our kiddo really had a connection to the staff. There was also a pet lizard that meant a lot to our kiddo. There's so much I could say about this place. But the biggest is just two words FOREVER THANKFUL.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to everyone at Jackson House. Before I got there I was experiencing homelessness, suffering from addiction and struggling with mental health. I had nowhere to turn for help. It was during a doctor’s appointment where I was trying to figure out a place to live and how to get help for my mental health and addiction issues that Jackson House reached out to me. Within hours the staff put together everything I needed. They were able to get me a bed the very next morning so I could get off the streets and finally start attending to a problem that was making it impossible to manage my life. Even though I was scared and nervous, from the very first phone call to the very last day they made me feel welcomed and supported. Theirs is a judgment free care. I could feel the devotion and care they showed me and everyone else. The entire staff cares so much about the people that come through their program. From the PCS’s (Monica, Jose, Joanna, Cassandra, Rohan (congrats on the baby!!) Caitlyn, Stephanie, Sabrina and all the rest) to the nurses (Bill, Teresa, Iana, the whole nursing team that took care of me,) the discharge planners (thank you Brad and Aurea for setting me up with the aftercare I needed and for reassuring me when I was nervous to leave Jackson House,) Brittany, Kennedy and Kade (absolute angels) and the cooks (Anthony and especially my homegirl Chef Chanel 🙏🏻 bless you for making me fat during my recovery 🫶🏻.)
But there are two people I need to give a special thank you too. Andrew, one of the group facilitators, and my counselor Robert. Being a gay man who has struggled with acceptance from within the LGBTQIA+ community and outside it, having these two men there to hold my hand, to show me that it’s ok, to let me know that I’m not alone, and who made me feel so safe and helped me start to feel ok in my own skin was life saving for me. Andrew is the type of facilitator who will pull you towards recovery because he can sense when you need help and lets you know it’s ok to speak it. Robert is the type of counselor who makes you feel comfortable every time he facilitates or during one of his individual sessions with you. After my first group with both of them they checked on me everyday. They talked to me, they asked me how I was doing, they held me accountable, they gave me advice and they made me laugh. It might sound like a cliche but I truly never felt more seen by two individuals.
Thank you to everyone at Jackson House. I am here. I am alive. I have a home. And I am continuing on the path to recovery thanks to you all of and what you ALL taught me. I will never forget it.

The Lighthouse Community is a place where people can receive support education and the necessary resources for their recovery from addictions. Life is full of challenges including pain, anxiety, depression, emotional distress and more. In order to begin our recovery process we need to first admit we’re addicted. The Lighthouse will assist those who are suffering and have decided that recovery will be the best option to continue with the process. My personal experience with the Lighthouse was extremely positive, I was given all the necessary tools, information, counseling and guidance to make it happen, beginning my lifelong journey in recovery. The more effort that is put into making recovery a priority the more you will get out of it. The Lighthouse is longer than others and shorter than others, the approach is unique and worth the effort. I have been fortunate enough to be house coordinator for an extended period. I’m grateful for the opportunity to begin my journey, by starting there.

Transit-Rich yet Stranded: The Mobility Trap Between the Highway and the Rails
At first glance, this area hits you as a bustling transit hub, humming with the energy of a region on the move.
But for anyone navigating life in a wheelchair, that dynamic facade quickly fades into a frustrating reality.
This courtyard is effectively trapped in a vice grip of modern infrastructure: two active rail lines cut through one side, while a roaring highway walls off the other. It’s a bitter irony that amid this massive concentration of transit corridors, residents with limited mobility are practically cut off from the world.
To be absolutely clear: this is not a landlord fail. The property management takes this issue seriously and has done their part. The real breakdown here is at the city planning level.
As it stands, the wheelchair-accessible route leading out of our courtyard funnels down to exactly one single bus stop, serving one single route, strictly on one side of the highway. Trying to cross over to the other side of the highway "on wheels"? Physically impossible. The infrastructure just isn't there.
Consequently, anyone relying on a chair is left completely dependent on one direction of travel and the scheduling whims of a single bus driver. And even if the bus rolls up right on time, it’s a gamble.
Under current transit regulations, if there are already two wheelchair passengers on board, the driver has every right to pass you up. For a resident stuck in this isolated pocket, that means an automatic cancellation of their day and indefinite waiting on the shoulder of a busy road.
This community desperately needs smarter integration into the city's transit network.

San Diego, CA | Located in San Diego, California, Soledad House offers women experiencing alcohol and substance use disorder a wide variety of treatment options. Recognizing that women have unique treatment needs, their certified addictions professionals provide holistic and evidenced based treatment options to meet their client’s mind, body and spiritual needs. | Treatments Programs Payment Options | It’s taken me a second to post words worthy enough for this treatment center. I came to Soledad House all the way from North Carolina, never imagining how profoundly it would change my life (I originally came because I was told I could see seals any time I wanted lol).
My therapist changed my life. The circle of women I was surrounded by changed my life. The administrators and staff changed my life. These weren’t just people doing a job—they became part of my story.
A few days after arriving to soledad , my dad passed away suddenly. Losing him was devastating, and trying to process that grief while I was also working through my own recovery was one of the hardest things I have ever experienced. I was far from home, carrying a pain I didn’t know how to hold, and there were moments when I felt completely overwhelmed by the loss.
But I was not alone. The women around me, my therapist, the admin and staff at Soledad House held space for my grief while continuing to support me in my recovery. They allowed me to be heartbroken without making me feel like I had failed. They reminded me that grieving did not mean I had to give up on myself, and that I could take the next step even when I could not see very far ahead. It is because of them that I was able to stay sober through it.
Soledad House became a place where I could mourn my dad, feel everything I needed to feel, and still be cared for. That support meant more to me than I can fully express, and it is one of the reasons I will always carry this place with me.
What makes this place even more meaningful to me is that I eventually went on to work in treatment myself because of the experience I had there. The people I met at Soledad House became more than just part of my treatment—many of them are still in my life today.
I came from North Carolina looking for recovery. I left with a completely different life.
I’m now about 3 1/2 years sober. I will always be grateful for Soledad House and the women, therapists, administrators, and staff who helped me become the person I am today.

When I got to Soladad, I was very sick physically and emotionally lost. At first because I was so physically sick. It was hard for me to settle in, but with the love and understanding of the staff I slowly felt safe. I was only going to stay a short time and I ended up doing the full 90 days. Best decision I’ve ever made. All of the staff helped me in ways I can’t even explain. The therapist, all of them cared. My therapist was Dorian. I truly believe that she saved my life. If you decide to go here, trust the process. You will feel frustrated, irritated and scared. Just believe you’re worth it no alcohol or drugs will heal you. Soledad House helps you to understand your relationship with your higher power and how to deal with life situations that we have forgotten because of our disease. I lived in the house, called Missouri. I was lucky enough to have an amazing house, Manager and other women in the house. I believe this place is a gift from God if you’re reading this hopefully it helps you to decide that you want to be free of this horrible disease and this is the place you will receive it. 🙏🏽

I lived there about 40 years ago. It was a safe, loving, supportive home. I remember the staff and residents fondly. Especially Helen "Christmas Tree" Hann, Faith Gates, Ramona Hammer. I often wonder where life took them. I'm still drug free. They saved my life.

The Jane Westin Center is slow as hell, yes. HOWEVER once you are seen, the care is second to none. The counselors, doctors, psychiatrists, nurses and even front desk staff treat you like you matter. They treat you like they care about you and are concerned for your well being. They also insist upon going above and beyond to help you. They offered me help I didn’t even come in for… which I needed.
I can not thank the staff enough for being so gregarious and thoughtful. You made me safe and cared for just when I needed it most.

One of the safestplaces I’ve been to for services meaning I didn’t feel uncomfortable disrespected, that I was the problem of my situation, that I was judged by what I’ve done like other clinics have been unfortunately. Every one of the staff members..Each of their was either respectful,, helpful, or so kind.😀 Be prepared for the the usual..;
