I have struggled with alcohol abuse for the last three years and this was the ONE place out of 23 treatment centers that finally worked. Nobody ever thought they would see me sober, but today I can say I am, thanks to Sober Life. I was a frequent relapser, just barely making it by, and when I decided to seek treatment through Sober Life a whole new world opened for me. The team at Sober Life cares. I felt valued, I felt empowered, understood and heard. After being in and out of so many treatment centers I found myself fatigued, but through my process with Sober Life I actually wanted to continue my program as long as I could. I WANTED to be there and I've learned a life I never knew possible thanks to the team there. I can say that this program likely saved my life, and showed me a new life that I could never have imagined. The support and understanding was beyond belief. I felt so safe there. I've made friendships with a lot of my peers from groups as well. Which I never wanted to do before. Recovery can be difficult to begin, scary to start, but Sober Life feels SAFE. I'm not the type to write reviews, but I know how hard I struggled and for anyone reading this or questioning a start, I highly recommend this team. I am eternally grateful for my experience there.

Sober life has been one of the best experiences in my life! I came in not really sure what I wanted out of treatment and scared to really connect with people and have them see me in my weaker moments. All of the staff at sober life loved me through these issues and helped me get to a place where I felt safe and comfortable enough to communicate what was really going on with me, and gave me the tools I needed to be able to deal with things as they came up on a daily basis. Anytime I was a little off or lost any amount of momentum, they noticed immediately and did whatever they could to make sure I continued my progress and that even though addiction is a lonely disease, it became a lot easier to believe I wasnt alone and recovery is possible. It wasn't complicated at all, they handle the insurance stuff for you so you can focus and prioritize your recovery over anything else. Kimberly, Dan, Ashley, and Kelley have all been huge grounding stones in my recovery, showing up every time and helping me make solutions out of chaos. Having all of these amazing, kind, and extremely dependable people in my life has kept me steady and also taught me what having people around who genuinely love you, want the best for you, and who celebrate your achievements and help you through your downfalls looks like. Like any recovery program, you have to want it and put in your own effort, but they make the weight just lighter enough that it seems much more attainable.

If it wasn't for parent care I would have never been able to get my kids back or be the better person that I am today! They helped me with better parenting skills but I was able to fight my addiction and I have been sober since July 1st 2021. Special shout out to Shawna my counselor and Jessica my therapist. My experience at Restore was genuinely meaningful. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with dignity, compassion, and respect during a time I needed all three. Everyone I interacted with made an effort to understand me as a person, not just someone going through a difficult chapter. I felt supported without feeling judged, and cared for without feeling like I had lost my independence. The environment was comfortable, private, and much more welcoming than I expected from a detox and recovery center. The combination of care, structure, support, and genuine human connection gave me the space I needed to ground myself and think clearly about what I wanted to do moving forward. Restore and the people there had a real impact on me, and I left feeling stronger and more hopeful than when I walked through the doors. I would absolutely recommend Restore. Asking for help can be one of the hardest decisions someone makes. I’m grateful Restore was there when I made mine.

So what do I say about Steven and Restore Detox Centers? When I entered through the doors of this facility, I was a completely defeated and tormented soul as a result of the ravages of addiction. I had arrived at the end of myself! All my own ideas about how to live my life had failed me, but THIS is precisely where the LIGHT stepped in and met me; in the total darkness of my own demolition, destruction, degeneration, degradation and demoralization. I was hopeless! I didn't believe that I could recover from this seemingly hopeless state of mind and body and like the song by America, "Lonely People" states, I believed that "life had passed me by." Well, here I am some time later, and I can HONESTLY share with you, from the very Top of my heart, that my life is indescribably wonderful now. My seconds and minutes and hours of each day were filled with torment and dread! Now, they have been replaced with enthusiastically looking forward to seeing the wonderful friends that I have made, the smiles and hugs that I am greeted with, and the super cool testimonies that I get to continuosly hear! I was asked to take some simple steps (12), not easy but simple, and I was told that I didn't even have to believe. I just had to take these simple actions and they would result in an experience that would prove their effectiveness. If you're in a place of abject bewilderment and confusion and you have come to the end of yourself, please know that a new You is waiting to emerge; a new, Regenerated, Rejuvenated, RESTORED, and Reconciled (to Self, Family, Friends and God) version of You is waiting to be born! And an acutely wonderful place to begin this journey is with Steven and his kind, caring, warm and empathetic staff at Restore Detox Centers. "Don't give up until you drink from the Silver cup and ride that Highway in the Sky!" Let the journey begin!

When my son experienced a relapse, he was only at this facility for a couple of days, but those three days left a lasting impression on our family. From the very beginning, Steven treated both my son and us with genuine compassion, honesty, and respect. He didn't offer false promises or sugarcoat the challenges of recovery, but he also never lost sight of our son as a person who deserved hope and dignity. It was clear that he truly cared—not just about getting someone through detox, but about helping them find a path to lasting recovery. As a parent, feeling understood and supported during such a difficult time meant more than I can express. I am deeply grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and authentic concern we experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where people are treated with both compassion and accountability.

My father has been attending this recovery place. Watching someone you love struggle is one of the most painful experiences life can offer. My father’s journey with addiction affected not only him, but our entire family. This rehab gave my dad a chance to step away from the chaos and begin to face the pain that fueled his addiction. This place has treated him greatly and I'll be forever grateful for what they have done. Since entering the program a few months ago, he has begun the hard work of healing. I finally feel like I have my dad back and could not be more thankful for the staff and everyone else included, truly. I HIGHLY recommend this place for someone and/or a family member struggling with addiction.

Life-Changing Experience at Pacific Bay Recovery Center As a mom, choosing a rehab for my son was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. After researching countless facilities in San Diego, we decided on Pacific Bay Recovery Center, and I can confidently say it was the best decision we ever made. Pacific Bay didn’t just help my son recover—they saved his life. From the very beginning, they treated him like family. The care and compassion from every staff member, from the therapist and psychiatrist to the case managers, were unparalleled. They didn’t just see my son as another patient; they truly invested in his well-being and future. The individualized attention he received made all the difference. The therapists were deeply insightful, helping him understand and address the root causes of his struggles. The psychiatrist provided thoughtful, expert guidance, and the case managers were a source of constant support, ensuring he stayed on track every step of the way. Beyond the clinical care, the atmosphere at Pacific Bay is warm and welcoming—a safe haven for anyone seeking to rebuild their life. They created a nurturing environment where my son felt seen, heard, and valued. Today, my son is thriving, and it’s all thanks to the dedicated team at Pacific Bay. I am forever grateful to them for giving me my son back and helping him rediscover hope, purpose, and joy. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond to treat your loved one with the care they deserve, I cannot recommend Pacific Bay Recovery Center highly enough.

I can honestly say that what Rachel did for me in our individual sessions fundamentally changed the way I understand myself. AToN saved my life, and I don't say that lightly as someone who completed their program two years ago and has stayed sober since. Dr. Kevin's approach to clinical care is unlike anything I encountered in years of outpatient therapy. He has a way of cutting through the noise and getting to what's actually driving the behavior, without ever making you feel judged or reduced. The group sessions, the holistic work, the food, the grounds - all of it creates an environment where healing doesn't just feel possible, it feels inevitable. If you're on the fence, please get off it. This place is the real thing.

We are so grateful for the care our daughter received at Evolve Cole Ranch. She truly thrived, growing in confidence, accountability, and self-awareness. The facility is beautiful and creates a peaceful, healing environment. There’s also a positive, uplifting energy—it was important to us that treatment felt like support, not punishment, and Cole Ranch delivered. We especially appreciated the small group setting (only about six kids), which allows for individualized attention and meaningful peer connections. She benefited from both traditional therapy (individual, group, and family) and experiential therapies like equine and surf—she can’t wait to surf again! Most importantly, she left with real skills she’s already using at home. We’re incredibly proud of her and deeply thankful to the entire team—especially her therapist, Charlie, who seemed to know exactly how to connect with her. Ermias was great with and Rafa the chef made her laugh and smile. (I’m not sure I can compete with his cooking!). Thank you to everyone at Cole Ranch—you truly changed her life.

My daughter’s mental health symptoms showed up at age thirteen. It seemed like overnight we went from having a typical child who enjoyed spending time with family, playing with friends, reading books, going on outings to just wanting to die. It was a very scary and confusing place for our family. I tried and tried to find providers who could help her. She went to multiple providers and programs with little change. After our insurance changed, we were able to start treatment at Evolve. From the very beginning, I felt that we were in good hands. The staff are well trained and the program is well designed. My daughter’s behaviors and our family’s communication patterns changed dramatically. After four years of feelings as if I had lost my daughter, I have my daughter back. I’m grateful that the providers at Evolve have extensive knowledge and experience with teens with mental health issues, and we finally got the help we needed!

Evolve did wonders for our teen. I'm sure it's hard for them to get reviews as this is such a private matter. The whole process is utterly heartbreaking. You don't end up here because you wanna be here. That being said they worked with us as a family so well. I really liked that. They involve you in the treatment and try to ensure that you will have the tools necessary to help your child continue on their path of healing. The path is BUMPY, and it heartbreaking. I remember graduating out of program thinking I don't know if I am ready to do it without them. They helped us navigate tough topics and issues our teen would shut down on us with. Helped us see each other's sides. Helped our teen see themeself. When we graduated out were ok and we did move forward on our own. As a family we are so thankful for the staff at Evolve and the forever impact they have made on our child's life. The skills they shared, our kiddo still uses. Our kiddo really had a connection to the staff. There was also a pet lizard that meant a lot to our kiddo. There's so much I could say about this place. But the biggest is just two words FOREVER THANKFUL.

My time in the Jackson House recovery center on E st in San Diego was amazing. Where do I start from the staff to the counselors, very professional they cared for me as if I was family In their own home. The compassion I got along with the tough love strait from Monica 😁 was just what I needed. Shoutout to Brad with my discharge, Brittney as my counselor and Bill up in nursing along will his staff I couldn’t have asked for a better team for my stay. Vanessa the late night nurse can’t forget her. Jazzy so caring and easy to work with on the insurance side. Congrats to Rownan and his lady on the baby, Jose how he never stops smiling. Joanna always ready to help between her and Jose if they can’t bring a smile out of you I don’t think your capable to smile. Who else the afternoon staff I’m sorry I’m just being honest I cant remember all your names but you always wear black with real curly hair so, so nice also Stephanie and the green eyes girl so sweet ! Anthony thank you for all the rides, Kade for the walks and last but not least kiss the cook. Just a fine establishment for the beginning of a life time in sobriety for all of my peers thanks from Big hearted Brent

JHRC is a great place to comfortably & safely recover. The entire staff shows they genuinely care and were so accommodating and supportive. The food is excellent & well stocked, the whole facility including the community areas and rooms are clean and well maintained. The aftercare/ discharge team provides the best setup plan possible for your continued sobriety as well as any help and support needed to alleviate and resolve any outside issues that you may have while in their care. The groups and meetings are engaging, encouraging and provide a safe place to learn and grow. Thank you for everything JHRC.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to everyone at Jackson House. Before I got there I was experiencing homelessness, suffering from addiction and struggling with mental health. I had nowhere to turn for help. It was during a doctor’s appointment where I was trying to figure out a place to live and how to get help for my mental health and addiction issues that Jackson House reached out to me. Within hours the staff put together everything I needed. They were able to get me a bed the very next morning so I could get off the streets and finally start attending to a problem that was making it impossible to manage my life. Even though I was scared and nervous, from the very first phone call to the very last day they made me feel welcomed and supported. Theirs is a judgment free care. I could feel the devotion and care they showed me and everyone else. The entire staff cares so much about the people that come through their program. From the PCS’s (Monica, Jose, Joanna, Cassandra, Rohan (congrats on the baby!!) Caitlyn, Stephanie, Sabrina and all the rest) to the nurses (Bill, Teresa, Iana, the whole nursing team that took care of me,) the discharge planners (thank you Brad and Aurea for setting me up with the aftercare I needed and for reassuring me when I was nervous to leave Jackson House,) Brittany, Kennedy and Kade (absolute angels) and the cooks (Anthony and especially my homegirl Chef Chanel 🙏🏻 bless you for making me fat during my recovery 🫶🏻.) But there are two people I need to give a special thank you too. Andrew, one of the group facilitators, and my counselor Robert. Being a gay man who has struggled with acceptance from within the LGBTQIA+ community and outside it, having these two men there to hold my hand, to show me that it’s ok, to let me know that I’m not alone, and who made me feel so safe and helped me start to feel ok in my own skin was life saving for me. Andrew is the type of facilitator who will pull you towards recovery because he can sense when you need help and lets you know it’s ok to speak it. Robert is the type of counselor who makes you feel comfortable every time he facilitates or during one of his individual sessions with you. After my first group with both of them they checked on me everyday. They talked to me, they asked me how I was doing, they held me accountable, they gave me advice and they made me laugh. It might sound like a cliche but I truly never felt more seen by two individuals. Thank you to everyone at Jackson House. I am here. I am alive. I have a home. And I am continuing on the path to recovery thanks to you all of and what you ALL taught me. I will never forget it.

Five weeks at the Villa changed the entire trajectory of my recovery. The food alone deserves a mention, whole food plant based meals that actually tasted good and helped me feel human again. But it was the individual sessions, five a week, that made the real difference. I never felt like a number here.

I was terrified going into residential treatment, mostly because of past experiences with mixed-gender programs where I never felt safe enough to be honest. Villa Kali Ma is different. Every therapist, every staff member I worked with was a woman, and that changed everything about how much I could actually let my guard down. The combination of EMDR sessions with things like breathwork and equine therapy sounds unusual on paper, but it worked in a way traditional talk therapy alone never did for me. I left with a real plan, not just a discharge date.

Out of prison since September. Went from CTC, to McAlister New Conmections, to Independent Living. I wasn’t mandated but asked my probation to stay. I’ve been out 9 months from Folsom and I’ve got a five figure savings account, a brokerage account, a permanent job (after working with a staffing agency for 3 months) at a major industrial manufacturer in San Diego and a job making almost 80K a year with a 401(K). When I arrived at this place I didn’t have anything but literally the clothes on my back but the staff inspired me to believe that I was capable of maintaining my sobriety and making something out of my life and thanks to that feedback that I took to heart, I’m a responsible member of society again and I early term off of probation in three months. Thank you guys.

The Lighthouse Community is a place where people can receive support education and the necessary resources for their recovery from addictions. Life is full of challenges including pain, anxiety, depression, emotional distress and more. In order to begin our recovery process we need to first admit we’re addicted. The Lighthouse will assist those who are suffering and have decided that recovery will be the best option to continue with the process. My personal experience with the Lighthouse was extremely positive, I was given all the necessary tools, information, counseling and guidance to make it happen, beginning my lifelong journey in recovery. The more effort that is put into making recovery a priority the more you will get out of it. The Lighthouse is longer than others and shorter than others, the approach is unique and worth the effort. I have been fortunate enough to be house coordinator for an extended period. I’m grateful for the opportunity to begin my journey, by starting there.

I am so blessed to be able to experience such an amazing place and people. I called and spoke with Elliot. He made the intake process easy for me. Even throughout my time there, he was on top of his game with my paperwork and answered all my question regarding insurnace and EDD. Angel had me look at the world from a different view which helped me gain insight into what I had control of. I plan on continuing to see her after I leave. Nicolas was amazing. He did an amazing job facilitating groups and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much for everything. If anyone is looking for a place to find help, this is the place. Look no further than Mindful.

Kick ass, down to earth, mind , body and spiritual experience. Small program but individualized for personal growth. My trip there was some what short due to needing a higher level of care....but I will return for PHP and IOP. Elliot: Right from the first phone call, Elliot clearly articulated the therapeutic approach, making me feel confident. He emphasized both group and individual therapy, which was exactly what I needed. Nicholas: As a facilitator, psychologist, guru, and teacher led with experience . Nicholas felt like a guide, he helped me tune into my inner self, enabling me to make better decisions. His presence was transformative. Angel: Angel, my therapist, didn’t give me answers, she guided me inward. Her support was constant, and she advocated for my transition to a higher level of care. Megan: The bodybuilding doctor next door, Megan, got me moving! I wasn’t one for working out, but her energy and care had me feeling so good, I even attempted to give back by cleaning the windows. Lol I actually ruined the sticker with her logo and she took it with a grain of salt. I will replace it . (^-^) Every interaction was tailored, making this program truly special. I have learned so much and they allowed me to grow towards the goals I've wanted to have for years. Not at all the sit and be bored type of atmosphere. More like sit, share, breath, learn , walk, have fun, place to cry, safe place to be, and a spot where I got totally honest for the first time in many moons. I strive to be better by their guidance and compationate ways they have taught me what to do.

Transit-Rich yet Stranded: The Mobility Trap Between the Highway and the Rails At first glance, this area hits you as a bustling transit hub, humming with the energy of a region on the move. But for anyone navigating life in a wheelchair, that dynamic facade quickly fades into a frustrating reality. This courtyard is effectively trapped in a vice grip of modern infrastructure: two active rail lines cut through one side, while a roaring highway walls off the other. It’s a bitter irony that amid this massive concentration of transit corridors, residents with limited mobility are practically cut off from the world. To be absolutely clear: this is not a landlord fail. The property management takes this issue seriously and has done their part. The real breakdown here is at the city planning level. As it stands, the wheelchair-accessible route leading out of our courtyard funnels down to exactly one single bus stop, serving one single route, strictly on one side of the highway. Trying to cross over to the other side of the highway "on wheels"? Physically impossible. The infrastructure just isn't there. Consequently, anyone relying on a chair is left completely dependent on one direction of travel and the scheduling whims of a single bus driver. And even if the bus rolls up right on time, it’s a gamble. Under current transit regulations, if there are already two wheelchair passengers on board, the driver has every right to pass you up. For a resident stuck in this isolated pocket, that means an automatic cancellation of their day and indefinite waiting on the shoulder of a busy road. This community desperately needs smarter integration into the city's transit network.

I recently graduated from West Coast Recovery Center, and I’m incredibly grateful for my experience there. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported by staff who genuinely cared about my recovery and well-being. They created a safe, encouraging environment where I could focus on healing, learn healthier coping skills, and grow as a person. Recovery isn’t easy, but the therapists, counselors, and staff were there every step of the way with compassion, guidance, and accountability. I also met amazing people who reminded me that I wasn’t alone in my journey. Today I’m leaving stronger, more hopeful, and with the tools I need to continue building a healthy, sober life. Thank you, West Coast Recovery Center, for believing in me and helping me rediscover myself. I’ll always be grateful for the impact you’ve had on my life, and I highly recommend this program to anyone ready to make a positive change. West coast is a one of a kind experience! Shoutout to Renzo my case manager ( and Jeremy the other case manager for just being cool) and Clarissa my therapist for being my amazing team who never gave up on me and always pushed me to be the best version of myself, I’ll forever hold a special place in my heart for this center.

Located in San Diego, California, Soledad House offers women experiencing alcohol and substance use disorder a wide variety of treatment options. Recognizing that women have unique treatment needs, their certified addictions professionals provide holistic and evidenced based treatment options to meet their client’s mind, body and spiritual needs.
It’s taken me a second to post words worthy enough for this treatment center. I came to Soledad House all the way from North Carolina, never imagining how profoundly it would change my life (I originally came because I was told I could see seals any time I wanted lol). My therapist changed my life. The circle of women I was surrounded by changed my life. The administrators and staff changed my life. These weren’t just people doing a job—they became part of my story. A few days after arriving to soledad , my dad passed away suddenly. Losing him was devastating, and trying to process that grief while I was also working through my own recovery was one of the hardest things I have ever experienced. I was far from home, carrying a pain I didn’t know how to hold, and there were moments when I felt completely overwhelmed by the loss. But I was not alone. The women around me, my therapist, the admin and staff at Soledad House held space for my grief while continuing to support me in my recovery. They allowed me to be heartbroken without making me feel like I had failed. They reminded me that grieving did not mean I had to give up on myself, and that I could take the next step even when I could not see very far ahead. It is because of them that I was able to stay sober through it. Soledad House became a place where I could mourn my dad, feel everything I needed to feel, and still be cared for. That support meant more to me than I can fully express, and it is one of the reasons I will always carry this place with me. What makes this place even more meaningful to me is that I eventually went on to work in treatment myself because of the experience I had there. The people I met at Soledad House became more than just part of my treatment—many of them are still in my life today. I came from North Carolina looking for recovery. I left with a completely different life. I’m now about 3 1/2 years sober. I will always be grateful for Soledad House and the women, therapists, administrators, and staff who helped me become the person I am today.

When I got to Soladad, I was very sick physically and emotionally lost. At first because I was so physically sick. It was hard for me to settle in, but with the love and understanding of the staff I slowly felt safe. I was only going to stay a short time and I ended up doing the full 90 days. Best decision I’ve ever made. All of the staff helped me in ways I can’t even explain. The therapist, all of them cared. My therapist was Dorian. I truly believe that she saved my life. If you decide to go here, trust the process. You will feel frustrated, irritated and scared. Just believe you’re worth it no alcohol or drugs will heal you. Soledad House helps you to understand your relationship with your higher power and how to deal with life situations that we have forgotten because of our disease. I lived in the house, called Missouri. I was lucky enough to have an amazing house, Manager and other women in the house. I believe this place is a gift from God if you’re reading this hopefully it helps you to decide that you want to be free of this horrible disease and this is the place you will receive it. 🙏🏽
