From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and did everything to make me feel like I was in my own home. While the first few days were the hardest, everyone at Jackson House reassured me that I was not alone and that they were all there to support me and everyone else going through recovery. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, from the counselors, PCS workers, nursing, and the chef. After a few days, I considered them family and they made it very comfortableto to open up. The group meetings and guest speakers were very helpful and it helped me understand my disease which I did not understand previous to going to Jackson House. In a nutshell Jackson House was the best place I could have gone to. It has been life changing.

This place has a beautiful setting & outdoor environment however the “inside” is the major problem. Administration/Management is petty, unprofessional, geared by emotions & I can go on & on! If you or your loved one is a “lifer” GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! This place is mentally, emotionally & physically triggering to even the MOST PATIENT PEOPLE!!! This is NOT THE PLACE! The management here plays with people’s emotions, they dangle livelihood & threats of “calling PO” due to them being in the wrong & lifers actually fighting for what they are entitled to. Admin has a motto of stating blatantly “sometimes we say no to see your reaction & how you take it”.
Admin is a small group of people who forgot where they came from! Forgot the struggle & now have “a small amount of power” that they use to their advantage.
My initial written complaint was to the facility itself, that’s WAS A BIG MISTAKE!!!! They took it out on my husband; retaliating against him! I have since filed several & MAJOR COMPLAINTS against this nonprofit & I will continue doing so until they learn to treat people the WAY THEY ADVERTISE THEY DO! This nonprofit foundation receives funding & donations to treat people poorly, hide drug & alcohol use, & misuse your resource to people who actually need it. I am sure none of their stakeholders are aware of the truth!
If you believe my review to be something it is not besides 100% honest reply to my review & I’ll send you my husband’s contact info for his 1st hand experience! This place is ran like prison, judgmental like prison, favoritism towards people who allow staff to gain; let alone the drugs, alcohol & everything else swept under the rug to “keep a positive image”! TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE COMING OUT OF PRISON AFTER SPENDING SO MANY YEARS!!!!

Overall, Brightquest seems to have the potential to be a beautiful place if you make it one and if all those involved (parent, client, referrant, etc) fall under-- to each's own capacity-- a conjoined understanding of what enrolling into the facility truly entails before onboarding.
Top of the Line professionals in terms of medical, psychiatric, directorial staff, and coordinators.
In the San Diego office, administrative advision and onboarding facilitators seemed to be - at a minimum - understaffed, underprepared, rushed... disjointed, disoriented - retaining inconsistent speech and tonal behaviors. First day, as most everyone will tell you, is definitely whiplashy; so be prepared.
Most, if not all therapists are pretty fantastic, though there's a healthy sprinkling that will likely benefit from more seasoning or better balance when it comes to working with the clientele that comes through the facility--especially considering the severity of what Brightquest's treatment plans offer.
Resolution could see steps towards improvement with a simple forum on situational and environmental threats, could addtly. benefit from the inclusion of more proactive superiors. (aside from weekly staff meetings which seem to not be too productive, I really just believe there should be a massive overhaul/addition to supervising faculty, or an increase in physical foot traction of prior mentioned superiors, wherever they're holding these mystery figures. Yes, it is true from what I've read in other reviews that plenty key players are conveniently often on vacation. Website also needs an update.)
I definitely think that clients should have a say in who they work with throughout their time in treatment, if afforded the luxury-- e.g. building or altering their own teams. The option of choice and communication does so much for clients in a space with inconsistent, often seemingly unclear boundaries and assistance. Also, on the DEI note, not very accommodating in terms of practicing religion.
Last and certainly MOST important. If at this point you have any retainer hesitations-- great resources, work study programming, activities, group sessions, and residential function is a very intelligent, strategic layout. Each individual playing a hand in house management, whether that be house managers themselves, night staff, or especially nurse Theresa (who is working 24/7!) are diamonds in the rough of it all.
At the end of a long day, throughout any level, at Brightquest (with the right treatment and mentality) you can fall on the network you've built for yourself within the community there. I truly do hope to see the team at BQ San Diego weed out some of the bad parts, as there is so much light and an outpouring of love and friendship in the work done there.

from a clinical/medical standpoint they are excellent but that's just dealing with doctors which you only see once in a blue moon because they are just there to let you know about your lab results and gauge your overall health. It's a very quick visit but an informative one...
However I am sorry to say that nearly every other aspect of this facility and the program as a whole is not what it should be, and worse, I'm not certain they could be what they need to be.. the therapists are completely impotent which is disheartening, and they can be rude for failing to shelve their personal issues while working which is incredibly unprofessional. I've never experienced such mediocrity for a place that should expect a higher standard for itself. The accommodations are clean but very depressing. The beds are actually not beds, they are a thin hard plastic mattress and same for the pillows. The group sessions are forgettable. They accomplish nothing. The most important issue of all is that the facility and the people/therapists who work there do not foster an environment of real trust so a healing process can take place. Would never recommend this place to anyone. it's just not what you would expect from Sharp... my insuramce covered most of it but im still paying off my portion and it kills me to have to pay anything for this pathetic rehab that is not worth the money regardless of how much your insurane will cover

This is the chemical dependancy (CD) & psychiatric clinic for Kasier memeber.
For CD they offer a wide range of services and support for people suffering from the disease of addiction. This includes referals to detox, in-patient treatment, social programs, and out-patient program (Intesive OP programs are also available). These are both available in building 'B' of the complex. They also have a pharmacy in building 'A'
If you have a dual diagnosis or psychiatric issues there are, again, pethora of resouces for your specific needs.
This is a really good clinic but unfortunately is underfunded and have more cases than they can really properly process. But still by far the KP clinic in southern California.
CD is on the first floor and psychiatry is on the second floor. They share information internally with each other in the case of dual diagnosis or CD related issues steming from psychiatric medication.
Personal opinion: I know this seems assbackwards or ironic but that's due to all the great people who make these drugs in the first place :)

This is a beautiful home located next to Golden Hill Park.
We would walk every morning through the Park on a Spiritual Walk. I spent my time doing a prayer walk, and feeling so close to my HP.
The Staff here are the best I’ve ever encountered. They are patient and kind, loving & tolerant. Most of them have had some kind of addiction, and understand through experience what we are going through.
Although we were told “NO” at times, they do this to prepare us for life. I may have been upset, but after processing it, I could understand.
The Therapist there are top notch, and my hats off to mine, Miss Pricilla. She was able to help me tear down the wall of my emotions, and help me to cry. To helped me see why I turned to alcohol.
The Counselor’s are also great at their positions. Miss Catalina is such a good roll model. Helping to look towards my future, with such grace, and clarity. Preparing me for my life ahead. If you want to get sober, TP is for you. A satisfied Alcoholic.

San Diego, California | Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program, located in San Diego, California, offers partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for adolescents and children ages 11-19 in need of mental health care. A choking incident with food left me with debilitating anxiety, daily panic attacks, and intrusive thoughts that made it impossible to show up in my life. It wasn’t easy to accept that I needed this level of care, and progress wasn’t always linear, but it was so worth it. On the hardest days, knowing I had a team and group members who truly listened made all the difference.
