If it wasn't for parent care I would have never been able to get my kids back or be the better person that I am today! I have struggled with alcohol abuse for the last three years and this was the ONE place out of 23 treatment centers that finally worked. Nobody ever thought they would see me sober, but today I can say I am, thanks to Sober Life. I was a frequent relapser, just barely making it by, and when I decided to seek treatment through Sober Life a whole new world opened for me. The team at Sober Life cares. I felt valued, I felt empowered, understood and heard. After being in and out of so many treatment centers I found myself fatigued, but through my process with Sober Life I actually wanted to continue my program as long as I could. I WANTED to be there and I've learned a life I never knew possible thanks to the team there. I can say that this program likely saved my life, and showed me a new life that I could never have imagined. The support and understanding was beyond belief. I felt so safe there. I've made friendships with a lot of my peers from groups as well. Which I never wanted to do before. Recovery can be difficult to begin, scary to start, but Sober Life feels SAFE. I'm not the type to write reviews, but I know how hard I struggled and for anyone reading this or questioning a start, I highly recommend this team. I am eternally grateful for my experience there.

Sober life has been one of the best experiences in my life! I came in not really sure what I wanted out of treatment and scared to really connect with people and have them see me in my weaker moments. All of the staff at sober life loved me through these issues and helped me get to a place where I felt safe and comfortable enough to communicate what was really going on with me, and gave me the tools I needed to be able to deal with things as they came up on a daily basis. Anytime I was a little off or lost any amount of momentum, they noticed immediately and did whatever they could to make sure I continued my progress and that even though addiction is a lonely disease, it became a lot easier to believe I wasnt alone and recovery is possible. It wasn't complicated at all, they handle the insurance stuff for you so you can focus and prioritize your recovery over anything else. Kimberly, Dan, Ashley, and Kelley have all been huge grounding stones in my recovery, showing up every time and helping me make solutions out of chaos. Having all of these amazing, kind, and extremely dependable people in my life has kept me steady and also taught me what having people around who genuinely love you, want the best for you, and who celebrate your achievements and help you through your downfalls looks like. Like any recovery program, you have to want it and put in your own effort, but they make the weight just lighter enough that it seems much more attainable.

Expressing gratitude for Akua Mind and Body. I am going in 3yrs of sobriety and could not have found this path without the care I received at the Akua in-house treatment facility. Staff works hard to maintain a trustful and safe environment to learn and work on deep rooted issues that come with addictive behaviors. From my counselor Javier’s one liners always telling me, “take those small wins Dave” to my therapist coming up with a game plan to address issues wether there from your childhood or more recent. Huge shout out to Chef Becca that is a 1 women army and plays a huge role in nourishing in-house residents back to health and clear thinking with her delicious food. Would love to make a guest appearance as your sous chef any day Becca (if you see this🙏🏽). The road to sustainable recovery doesn’t stop when you coin out as a resident. Akua’s after care program aka “Akua Alumni” has played a pivotal role in my continued sobriety. The Thursday Akua Alumni 12 step meeting provides a home group meeting for me where I know I can listen, be heard or just because I’m broke and want free food cooked by chef Becca🤣. But seriously I’ve been through a lot of “changing of the guards” in terms of leadership for the alumni program. I love and appreciate everyone that has blessed us with their time, care and love (you know who you are) but today I can say that the culture and vibe with in-house peeps and alumni peeps is the strongest that I’ve seen. Big Thanks to Kersey for being an amazing coordinator that hired on during what I would call a rough patch. She has assembled and empowered key players (you know who you are) that have filled a void and a much needed heart beat to keep our meetings and activities fun, interesting and cost friendly if not free to our diverse Akua family. Thanks to everyone at Akua from top to bottom and all my Akua family that listen and support me through this journey. If you are reading this and yourself or someone you know is struggling with addiction, mental health, co dependency ect. I recommend reaching out to Akua as a recource for treatment. Probably the best phych hospital in the county.

I fortunately haven't gone inpatient since I was 5 months post partum and the death of my mother in the same two month period in 2016. There were several years while I lived in San Diego, where I was at Mesa Vista almost monthly. I live in Pennsylvania now, and my mental health is really going down here. I'm considering flying to San Diego for inpatient care. I'm trying to hold on until after the holidays.. I'm just barely holding it together so my husband who works in the airline industry doesn't get fired for needing to take off during the worst time of the year (the holidays) to care for our young children. I really hope I can for the sake of my family. I would never go inpatient out here! Sharp Mesa Vista is bar none the BEST inpatient psychiatric hospital I've been in and I'm 51, first hospitalized at age 13! That's a LONG time to have experienced. I'm sure half of the nurses have retired. And probably no hospital allows vaping..but if I have to go through nicotine withdrawal for my mental health, I will. I really am not understanding why all psychiatric hospitals are on this no vaping/cigarette kick..we have enough going on! This isn't towards this hospital..but it is about the system. It's really just to have this appearance of health...when it's really more of being control freaks and that's a shame. I'm sure there's a lot of people who just won't even consider help for this one reason. I think it's ridiculous. It's not prison, the mentally ill are not criminals (usually)!

For the first time my family member didn’t feel like just a number in treatment. She felt loved on and Felt heard and was given treatment that superseded anything before. We are so grateful for Restore.

When I came to Restore, I had been struggling with a 7 year Heroin addiction. I had already been through three 30 day treatment programs. Nothing worked. I would leave rehab and go right back out and use. I was hopelessly looking for anything or anyone that could help me. I noticed right away that Restore was different. They only accept up to seven clients at a time, allowing a more personal experience. Restore gave me tools I had never been given before. They teach the SMART Recovery program rather than the same old 12 step programs that didn't work for me in the past. I would definitely recommend Restore Detox to anyone struggling with drugs or alcohol.

I like to thank Pacific Bay recovery for helping my husband and treating him like family. The staff helped him every step of the way, we have tried several rehabilitation centers and none of them worked. My Husband has been through a lot was addicted to everything was a very agitated man and I am so thankful to have my husband back and it’s all because of this program. He stayed in the copper house for two months and he loved it so much. It was hard to bring him home. He chose his recovery center And he was there because he wanted to be there not because he wanted to be Not because he had to be there. My father has been attending this recovery place. Watching someone you love struggle is one of the most painful experiences life can offer. My father’s journey with addiction affected not only him, but our entire family. This rehab gave my dad a chance to step away from the chaos and begin to face the pain that fueled his addiction. This place has treated him greatly and I'll be forever grateful for what they have done. Since entering the program a few months ago, he has begun the hard work of healing. La Jolla Recovery helped me start healing in ways I didn’t expect. The program included space for creativity and some group sessions were actually gender inclusive, which mattered a lot to me. Not everything was perfect, could use more LGBTQ+ focused options. But overall it felt safe, and the staff got the trauma side of things. I'd come back if I needed to.

I came to La Jolla Recovery during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I’d been dealing with a lot while trying to care for both my parents and my kids. What really helped was the outpatient option which let me keep some stability at home. The staff was mostly understanding and gave me space when I needed it. I do wish they had more language support or culturally aware groups. But overall I felt respected, safe and like I was finally getting real help.

Their medical doctors provided me with a detailed treatment plan. This plan started at their alcohol detox centers San Diego then put me into their inpatient drug rehabs San Diego program. This is where their treatment process differed. They performed a dual diagnosis. This got to the root of my addiction. I had several co-occurring disorders that were left untreated by other addiction treatment centers. Harmony Grove Recovery is the best alcohol rehab in San Diego hands down. Their alcohol detox San Diego program is medically supervised. They gave me medication assisted treatment that not only reduced the painful withdrawal that I usually experience, but they almost eliminated it. They were my first choice because I saw that they accepted most health insurances. The alcohol detox lasted 8 days. After completing that, I went to their residential inpatient drug rehabs San Diego program. I highly recommend this California drug and alcohol addiction treatment center.

Great program and has helped me though my addictions with drugs and alcohol

I spent six weeks at Casa Palmera just recently. The whole staff was attentive to my needs no matter what hour of the day it was. I had an opportunity to get to the bottom of some of my personal issues and I learned a lot from other patients during group sessions. Everyone there seemed to have a lot more in common than was said and our connections we were making at the time I was there strengthened recovery. Casa Palmera was responsive to my inquiries and needs. I was inspired by the way their team creatively boosted group engagement. The handling of contraband became a personal hassle I experienced, but every time I needed something from my contraband, the staff handled it professionally and mindfully. I am a tech savvy individual myself so I communicated that to staff and an arrangement was met to help accommodate that part of who I am. Things like that made me feel great about being there. I really enjoyed the outing I went on to play kickball and drive alongside the beach. Holy smokes, I didn't think it was possible to come out of that six weeks with a new perspective on recovery, but it happened and I'm feeling much more motivated to continue. This felt like the acceleration I needed to have in my recovery to stay on the rails. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my meals there and have no complaints on that whatsoever. Coffee was always out when it was scheduled to be too. Casa Palmera hit the ball out of the park the whole six weeks I was there and I'm pretty sure they will continue to do so. I have every confidence that the next patient going into their care will have a positive experience that they can recall on for a lifetime. The whole staff are all great at what they do and love what they do, which is very important to me. I could also see that the whole staff holds themselves to a high standard and high level of discipline, which is what I want to continue to do for myself and family. My mood swings were taken seriously and cared for appropriately. My medication was quickly adjusted to ensure that I was keeping on the right track as well. This made for a smooth transition back to my primary psych with Casa Palmera's updates to my medication. The 24/7 approach to treatment enabled me to make up for lost time and I would go back again in a heartbeat if need be. Casa Palmera did an exceptional job. The food was stellar, and they care about their patients. They teach us with the skills necessary to build the life we dream of all done in a supportive environment. They understand each patients individual needs and they have multiple tracks to their treatment approach. They treated me with respect. When I think back on my experience at Casa Palmera in Del Mar, I get a peaceful feeling because when I was there, I felt safe and cared for. It is a wonderful treatment facility and the best thing I ever did for myself! The facility itself is very peaceful with multiple courtyards, fountains, and a koi pond where we went to journal or meditate. The staff members are outstanding. Starting with the lead therapists, facilitators, and behavioral techs.. to the yoga teacher, housekeepers, and kitchen staff. I felt like everybody was so kind and compassionate. The therapists were top notch, where they really try to fit people with the a therapist to match their needs Casa incorporates a variety of practices to benefit recovery. There are AA/CA/HA, meetings; Refuge Recovery, Trauma, therapy, music, therapy, meditation, yoga… For special outings, there are beach days, hiking, horse, therapy, etc. it may seems like a frivolous detail for some, but having three meals a day and snacks prepared for me every day, and having my laundry done for me so I could focus on my recovery was the icing on the cake. I am a local, living in the area and there are so many of us in the recovery community who went there At various times, some people more than once; and we’re still like a big family Who love and support each other There are going to be people who complain about it, but I think most of those people are the ones that were in there not of their own accord, and found fault with everything. It’s not a 5-star hotel, which some seem to expect when they come. It’s a beautiful and loving recovery facility where they love you into health so you can leave there with the tools to start your lifetime of recovery. They give you the reins to take responsibility and take action for your own recovery when you leave.

Villa Kali Ma truly changed my life. When I arrived, I had absolutely nothing left — I had hit rock bottom. Prior to going to Villa Kali Ma I researched many other programs, but I am so grateful that I chose VKM. The location is peaceful and beautiful, the staff are so amazing.
