Lakewood, California | Center for Discovery - Lakewood is a drug rehab and facility located in Lakewood, California. The center offers treatment for alcohol and substance addictions, eating disorders, and co-occurring mental and behavioral health disorders. Center for Discovery provides residential inpatient treatment, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensiv | Treatments Payment Options | Hi! Its LR/Lu. This place has helped me tremendously. I never thought I would actually be where I am today. I never saw a chance at recovery, I never saw me getting better. Yet, here I am. Everyday I miss the staff and patients I was fortunately able to meet. Besides Jeanne (you already got a big letter),,,,Dolly, Sean, and Megatron helped me so much. Whether they know it or not. Dolly was so sweet and so supportive and I'll never forget when she accidently called me bestie. She was my favorite person at the time. I still think of her everyday and I can't imagine my time at CFD without her. When I turn 18 my first tattoo is going to be inspired off of her flower and rat tattoos. Morning walks and outings were never the same without her. Thank you Dolly so much. I couldnt have accomplished my journey without you :). Sean, even though he wasn't my therapist he felt like, as cheesy as this sounds, the dad I never had. I don't imagine him as my father figure since I only knew him for a total of 5 months. But, he has such dad vibes and energy!!!! He was so caring and every moment with him felt so real, there was no sugarcoating or trying to make life seem like rainbows. It was geniune. I'll never forget when he called me a hood rat. Omg and when I would do the kpop heart at him and he did the "I cookada pasta". He was so funny and I miss him dearly. Megan was always there for whoever needed it. She knew when things were right and wrong and helped me through peer conflict. She was the best ever during group cook. Whenever somebody says sorry to me, I don't immediately say "its ok" because megan told me to understand that sometimes its not! She made me have a voice, we weren't the closest but she really helped me from both of my visits at CFD.
The reason why I give this place a 4 star, is because I was able to lie most of my way out the first visit I was there. I know it is not others responsibility to realize when I'm lying. But, that was sort of the main reason I ended up coming back.
Other than that. I hated and loved that place with every cell in me. (hated because yk, who wants to be in residential, it was a very good experience though) Im eternally grateful for everyone there. Thank you to all the staff, and if you ever happen to read this, SH, KG, and NRH!!!!! my queens right there!!!!
I went to cfd lakewood for the first time when I was 13 1/2. Now I'm turning 15 in a month. And everyone still has a special place in my heart. Thank you so much.

I was a patient here from march 28th- june 9th the staff were amazing and very helpful throughout my recovery and i made close connections with some other patients as well this was an experience i have been to a previous residential before going to lake wood CFD and it was horrible i was scared as i imagine anyone would be however i was open for help and CFD changed my and saved my life if i hadnt gone here i wouldnt be here today or be where i am i have learned so much from this place i really recommend CFD lakewood for anyone who needs the help they succeed in helping patients i was at a really low point when i got there i almost had to go to the hospital however with the help of my therapist Sean Jansen and my dietitian Citlali i was able to push through. I made so much progress i obviously i have more to work on due to not having a pHp close to me and due to my insurance making me leave earlier then needed i still got the help i needed this place will always have an inpact on me i wilk never forget the good staff and memories i have from here Sean is my all time favorite alone with Andrea one if the nurses she was very kind she pushed me through my first two weeks she played me motivating songs while i would get ready for bed in the single bathroom bc i was so ill she made sure i was safe and didnt have to go to the hospital i felt safe and heard by most of the staff there and all though there are all of these pros and more i haven't listed there are cons one being losing motivation however they are there to help you through that and some staff there werent treating me fairly and it does hurt my heart but for the most part it was a really great and helpful experience i miss sean and andrea so much not only them but i miss all of the staff i remember when i was struggling with thing on my second month there sean did yoga with me he took time out of his schedule to talk to me for an hour i remember i had three appointments with him in one week he truly cares and i love him so much he was truly amazing he went above and beyond to help me - Madison Bachman

I was a patient here about 2 weeks ago, I honestly was so scared to come here but who wouldn’t be? But I went through with the process and ended up having a pretty good experience here. I made amazing friends who were so supportive and who I could relate to. They honestly ended up being like family to me, and I felt so comfortable around them. I as well created bonds with certain staff who made things feel so much better. Staff and peers both supported me so much, this place taught me so many things and without it I don’t think I would have been able to make the progress that I’ve made in my recovery. Citlalli was especially so so helpful. She gave me the reassurance that I needed and she helped me to feel understood and comforted. My therapist was so helpful and supportive as well. Of course there are pros and cons to being here and everyone’s experience is different, but I personally made a lot of good memories that I’ll forever cherish and keep close to my heart. :) The groups helped me a lot and helped me to become more comfortable with speaking up for myself. Staff would sometimes joke and play around with us as well which helped the experience become more enjoyable and more comfortable. Even though there are many good things to this place, there’s also cons that come along with it. My peers and I sometimes would have problems with the staff but most of the times the problems were resolved. It also would feel very draining at times being here and doing the same things everyday but you have to just keep pushing forward and keep on finding motivation and keep it close to you. If your coming here, don’t be afraid!! You’ve got this!💗

So many staff members impacted my experience...from the start, Ryan, meeting my at the airport and providing sound advice for tlnext steps in my recovery, Peter for his fantastic music therapy sessions, James for his sincere commitment to my casework, Mario always for his listening skills, Trinity, Justin, Andrew...and everyone beyond.

Best experience of my sober life. I want to personally thank, Trinity, Justin, Mario, Ryan, Eli, Megan, Andrew, Lee, Kyle, James and Peter for everything and that they do. The best staff at any program I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to a bit over my fair share). They actually care, they love you and they truly want to see you succeed. A special shout out to James, for always and I mean ALWAYS being in my corner. A shoutout to Trinity for being my confidant when I felt alone in the beginning. To Peter, who listened to all my bullshit with a smile on his face and some music in the background. The best place to get sober and the best people to ever be around. Truly a sober environment, where you learn how to be sober. Not just get sober but BE sober. I’ll forever remember my time here with love, respect and of course plenty of GRATITUDE!!!!!!!

I didn't know if I wanted to come in or even be sober and James and Megan stayed out front with me for a long while, patiently helping me to make the right decision to come in and I am so glad I did. They have such a great team of people and I couldn't thank you guys enough. I can't thank New Directions for Women enough for the care they provided my sister during her battle with heroin addiction. From the first phone call we made, they met us with kindness and compassion, at a time when we had quite honestly lost all hope.
Their focus on family involvement was pivotal, offering us support and guidance to heal together. The community atmosphere helped my sister to confront her challenges and embrace lasting change. This is by far the best place that you can come to when you need help with addiction and or mental health issues. The owner Miss Lucy cares about each and every person that comes through the door and it shows in every thing that she does. Her daughter Miss Ellen is also an amazing woman, just like her Mother. Dr. Gary is a wizard, he is so good at what he does. The staff is also great, The Chef (Best Chef in the world), Rosy, Mary Ann, Gabby, Jeremy, Jerome. Sonny, Christian and even the driver that picked me up from the airport. I do not have the words to explain how this place has changed my whole life.
If you are struggling and need help, please call Safe Haven. They will help you and treat you like a human being, with compassion, empathy and the best care. Thank each and every one of you for taking the chance on me and never looking back.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for this program existing. I was handled with so much care and felt so much safety and love here.
I was in the lowest point of my life and from the hospital I spoke with Elizabeth and she took care of everything right away. I was on the plane the next morning.
Miss Ellen and Miss Lucy treat their staff and their clients with so much care that it feels like a family. Dr. Gary is quite literally the best Therapist I’ve ever had and I’m sad that he will no longer be working with me, but I finally have the tools that I need to live a healthy happy life.
I would give this place 100 stars if I could because they are that great. I’ve been to many treatment centers that I’ve been traumatizing, disorganized, and dysfunctional. I’ve accumulated a lot of trauma from some of those experiences and also wasn’t quite ready to surrender to recover recovery.
The group facilitators were fantastic and everybody made my birthday in here feel very special. Thank you safe Haven. I will miss you all.

I forever will feel in debt to their amazing team and to the care they have given us!

She still has contact with some of the women she went through the program with! Today, my sister is thriving in her sobriety, thanks to the foundation laid by New Directions for Women. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of support on their journey to recovery.

Horrible place. Under staffed an under trained. Kicked a Clint an 6 year old out on Easter Sunday from out of state. Tried putting them on the street in the rain. There a police report to verify. The Sherriff had to stop them an tell them they can’t do that.

My time at Haven House was truly transformative. The luxurious facilities, especially the beautiful swimming pool, provided a serene environment for healing. The highlight of my experience was the personalized counseling sessions. These were instrumental in my recovery journey. I highly recommend Haven House to anyone seeking a supportive and upscale sober living experience.

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first about going to a treatment living facility. This was due to my own perceptions and stigma on being open with total strangers on my addiction. I didn't realize that a communal atmosphere is just what I needed to open up and take care of well being. I stayed for 6 months at the Haven House in Long Beach. They had so many resources for me getting my life back on the right track. I found a setting of other guys who had been through so much and were there to listen and to encourage my progress. I honestly felt like staying resort for rehabilitating everything about myself. We did yoga to help the mind and body. We had movie nights to laugh and think and engage in life conversations. The best part was the proximity to the beach. We had a lot of outings and picnics along the Long Beach Shore. I very much recommend this establishment if you wish to progress through addiction and leave all the more better for society.

This place is amazing, I went there and they took me to Alcoholics Anonymous, which gave me a solution to allow me to become an active and productive member of my family and society. I did everything that was suggested like going to sober living getting a sponsor and working steps. They have an amazing Alumni program with Heidi as the coordinator. The alumni program helped me tremendously I learned accountability by taking commitments at meetings, learned how to have fun sober, and use normal coping skills instead of using or drinking. I am super grateful for this place the staff really cares and anyone that’s willing to put in the work to recover will find the help they need at the lighthouse!
