There are wonderful things about Duffy's- but also things that aren't. Amazing trust between residents and wonderful small groups, beautiful nature, delicious food, and really comfortable rooms. Some staff were like gold and others wronged me to the point that a full investigation was conducted. The results were in my favor, which thankfully led to a change in policy. There is some trauma there and some staff are truly as cold as ice. But I want to emphasize that the ones that shine saved my life.
EDIT
Interesting that you did not address the negative experience which was major. I’m not griping, just think it’s best practices to give actual feedback and acknowledge that each of us is human with individual experiences.

I am mostly pleased with my time at Duffys. The staff was excellent and the food was delicious. I have been sober for two years.
My concerns are the following. The staff as good as they were definitely had favorites. From reading the nightly N/a /a/a meetings to other stuff. Also there is an administrative leak when it comes to housing. I stayed in the villa which is a somewhat private area. Somehow the ladies in adjoining Villa knew ahead of time who my roommate was going to be and the were right I thought this was strange that they knew before me who was living in the Villa.
Most importantly in the bigger picture of my journey in Sobriety they were good. My counselor Mary was the best. (, Ive been sober for over two years and the friends I met there are still my friends to this day. Thank you Duffys for 2.5 years of Sobriety

Sebastopol, CA | Located in Santa Rosa, California, Azure Acres is a residential alcohol and drug rehab treatment center for adults. They offer detoxification services, residential treatment and aftercare services facilitated by an Azure Acres counselor. Detoxification at Azure Acres is medically managed by clinical staff and typically lasts about three to 10 days. | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I wake up happy to drive to work at Azure Acres Recovery Center, and I leave each day with a deep sense that I have made a meaningful difference. As a therapist, this environment is both grounding and expansive. The collaboration with psychiatric, medical, case management, and behavioral health teams—including the CEO and especially our Clinical Director—is rooted in trust, grace, and the freedom to create programming that flows from your authentic clinical voice.
What makes Azure Acres exceptional is its balance of soul and structure. You are supported to facilitate groups in your area of expertise, with a manageable caseload that honors the depth of individual care. The residential setting allows for something extraordinary—bearing witness to daily transformation within the therapeutic community, far beyond what weekly sessions in private practice can offer.
We also hold a broader view. Our work is part of a larger ecosystem that includes corporate insight, insurance partnerships, the Department of Rehabilitation, and a new community-wide commitment to recovery and renewal. This convergence creates momentum for real change—inside and out.
There is a strong culture of professional development, with continuing education in Brainspotting, ACT, DBT, and IFS, and mentorship that supports clinical and leadership growth. Azure Acres is not just a treatment center—it is a living community of compassion, integrity, and purpose.

I went there for 5 nights and 6 days. This was my first time at a rehab and I was really nervous and apprehensive about what it would be like. I will tell you that this place was exactly what I needed. The entire staff was so immensely helpful and welcoming, a lot of the staff are former guests trying to get sober, so they know what it’s like!! Then you have the guests who were amazing. Azure Acres saved me. It mended me and gave me back myself, the true version of me that I had long lost to alcohol. I was beyond being able to help myself, but they were able to help me. Going to Azure Acres was likely the best decision of my life. It repaired me as a person, in turn allowing me to heal my relationships and build a future I couldn't see before. You will learn so much about addiction and yourself. I now have over 3 years and 7 weeks of sobriety without so much as a hiccup. The staff are incredibly caring and passionate about their jobs. If you want help, this is where you need to go. You are worth it, and you can do it.

Petaluma, CA | Olympia House is in Petaluma, California. It’s a residential and outpatient rehab for folks with alcohol and substance addictions. They’ll enroll you in detox, medication assisted treatment, and counseling, depending on your needs. Let’s start with detox. Medical detox consists of receiving meds to help make your withdrawal symptoms less seve | Treatments Programs Payment Options | By far. the best (out of 7 total) rehab facilities I've ever been to. They actually do trauma therapy, and you get sessions with a licensed psychologist twice a week, in addition to your drug counselor. The very best therapists I have EVER worked with. And the best drug counselor I've ever had.
I've been looking for therapy like this, and the answers I got at Olympia House, for 20 years. They are the most skilled, caring, and professional team of people I've ever worked with in mental health. I'm dual diagnosis, so I've been seeing professionals for my mental health for 25 years.
Some of their curriculum is custom, developed in house by the psychologists there—you won't find tools like these anywhere else. I have a custom designed "addictive system" I use every day to track where I am in my recovery and mental health. I use this not only to prevent relapses, but correct myself if I run off course, and this works not just for substance relapses but also things like depression, anxiety, and anger.
Their website doesn't reflect this, but they take Kaiser Permanente insurance now. That's the only reason I was able to come here.
I know reviews are inflated on the Internet, but please trust me, I swear with every fiber of my being and every ounce of integrity I have, this is likely the best rehab in California. If you have trauma, and most people do, or some form of PTSD, this is the place you should go.
They also focus on finding meaning and purpose in life--and they will definitely help you with that.
They also allow you to come back to the rehab twice a year for 2-3 days for free! They call it a "tune up". No one else I know of does this. There's also free group therapy for alumni (a process group led by one of the therapists there) once a week via Zoom.
I would wake up many times in OH in disbelief that this place exists at all, and that I got to be a resident here. They've made an enormous difference in the outcome of my life.
******ADDENDUM******
I recently read a review of OH where someone on the autism spectrum had a difficult experience. I'm sorry to hear that, but I simply wanted to say I'm (diagnosed) autistic (ASD 1/Aspergers) myself and felt that OH not only understood the strengths and limitations that can come with that, but also caused me to realize I had overestimated how different I was from my peers because of my autism. I still have it, of course, but the result of being at OH was a clearer picture of its actual impact in my life, particularly with peer relationships. I can't thank them enough for helping me with this, I have a much healthier social life today as a result.

Everyone that works for O.H genuinely cares. They make u feel like you unique and special. They offer soo many different activities and teach you so much about yourself and addiction. They give you the tools and resources for when you leave.

Olympia House Rehabilitation in Petaluma, California saved my life as well as countless others!
The intense inpatient program includes psychologists, counselors, process group meetings, group classes, one on one meetings as well as yoga, guided meditation, animal therapy, garden, therapy, art and music too.
Olympia House is situated on quiet, peaceful, and safe, 100+ acre farm/ranch.
The doctors, couselors, and staff all work to help identify the root cause of the core distortions that contribute to substance abuse. The focus of the residents mind, body, and spirit are all addressed.
Additionally, there is a lifetime of free continuous care for the alumni that includes zoom process groups, AA/NA meetings, visits once a year for two days at the house. The alumni portion of treatment is all free of charge. I cannot say enough good things regarding Olympia House. I highly recommend this program. Thank you, Sherry P.

I wish I had gone to Avery Lane at 24 years old instead of at 64, for my addictive behaviors. I learned so much about myself and finally live my life with more authenticity, calm and ease. This was my first time in recovery; I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t expect the settings and houses to be so beautiful, quiet and welcoming. The houses are large while keeping the number of women living there small. Eight women is a common number, ages range from 24-70 which sounds impossible but it somehow works! Rooms are shared with one other roommate close in age, or single rooms are available. The food is made daily from fresh ingredients by a committed group of chefs, one of which will break out in song! They tend to make more vegetable dishes than carbs. It sounds to good to be true, but, the program was not what I expected and exceeded my expectations. Group classes and activities like swimming, hiking, and outings are scheduled everyday. NA, AA, Dharma, and other types of support groups are attended in the early evenings. These meetings offer support and help to familiarize clients with various types of programs available in their own communities. Daily group and twice weekly one-on-one therapy sessions are led by practicing, licensed, and published women therapists who are on the cutting edge of women’s recovery, trauma, and the building of life skills for navigating addiction. I learned so much in a short time and will continue to be grateful to the staff for their insights and dedication. I would highly recommend Avery Lane to women of any age suffering from addiction and needing to get their life back.

We're grateful to Muir Wood for having helped our family through a terrible crisis. While our son was there, the rest of the family slept easily knowing he was in the care of compassionate, expert staff. The doctors, therapists, and staff there are all excellent. They're experienced, and have seen it all. What a relief! The program my son participated in was comprehensive, from getting great nutrition from an on-site chef, to engaging in personal and group therapy, as well as attending outside meetings. Muir Wood returned him to improved physical and mental health, and he was able to take responsibility for and pride in his sobriety. The family program is excellent, including individual family therapy and multi-family group discussion. Through the expertise of the affiliated guest speakers at the group meetings, our whole family learned a lot about how to manage addiction of our roles. All of us, including our son, are stronger because of Muir Wood's program.

Muirwood is a cadillac facility in every way! I was impressed with every facet of the program, the facilities, the staff, the family resources, discharge resources etc. If one has to go through this nightmare experience of substance abuse and all that entails, this is a safe landing place for our sons and an invaluable resource for us as families, not only while our son is there in treatment, but in terms of being set up to move forward after treatment as well. I am forever grateful to Muirwood and so thankful my son was able to be there at such a critical time in his life!

READ THIS IF YOURE GOING HERE OR IF YOUR KID IS. I went here 2x for addiction when I was 15. I am 20 now, and I am still sober. Firstly, a lot of kids are now leaving reviews describing the no contact hold period as “traumatic and dehumanizing”. I was also extremely dramatic about the cell phone policies when I went there as a teen. If you are going here don’t be alarmed, this is standard procedure at all mental health facilities, including ones for adults. Part of it is to make sure you don’t use your phone privileges for bad reasons. My first stay here was bad because I was mad at my parents for sending me and I had no intention of getting sober. My second stay was voluntary and It was extremely beneficial. If you’re a teen and you’re going here, make the most out of it and just be positive, because the time will pass anyways. The staff here didn’t sugarcoat things or baby me, they treated me like I was an adult and told me the truth. This experience made me a lot more mature and helped put my drug addiction into perspective. I realized how it was impacting my family and where it could lead me. The school here was great, i was able to get a lot done. The time away from my phone ended up being nice. The nature surrounding the facility was beautiful. They took us on gorgeous hikes where we got to see baby cows and other animals. I returned to this area years later just to go on a hiking trip. There are a variety of kids there, I didn’t get along with a lot of them. But that’s just how it goes at mental health facilities, people with different backgrounds there for all different reasons. Years later i still talk to my friends from here often. Things have not been perfect for me since i’ve left, and if you’re sending your kid here don’t expect them to come out and be completely “cured”. But i will say that this facility showed me i can handle issues sober. It showed me that i can be a good friend and show up for other people. It showed me how much i love my family and how much they love me. It taught me how to be mature even when i didn’t want to at all. And most importantly, it taught me how looking at everything through a positive lens really can change an entire experience from a bad one to a good one. This place prepared me to handle issues like an adult. If you’re a teen and you’re going here, don’t be immature and rude to the staff. If you treat them with kindness and manners that will be reciprocated!! I loved the staff here and i think about them often. Don’t be mean to the other residents even if they are annoying and stupid, because every kid in here is going through the worst time of their life, even if you can’t understand it. Thank you muirwood, I wouldn’t be alive without this place. Now i can become a doctor to pay it forward.

Campobello was a good recovery center. I am glad to see Camp is still around. There are alot of people and their families, who got their lives back on track there.
Recovery is for those who want it . . DO YOU?

Saved my damn life and I had NOTHING coming. Ok? I was absolutely worthless and they looked beyond that. Gave me something I never could ever imagine having; hope. Disregard negative reviews. These people don't understand or are not ready to get clean. Wendy, along with all the staff, pierced my veil of darkness with a little bit of light. Thank you. It will never be forgotten.

Santa Rosa, CA | Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (SRBHH), located in Santa Rosa, California, is part of the Northern California Behavioral Health System. They specialize in care for adolescents and adults living with a co-occurring diagnosis or substance use disorder. You’ll find both inpatient and outpatient care programs, both of which utilize the ex | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Very hard working and dedicated staff going above and beyond to help people. They care about everyone there no matter how hard you make it.
It is clear they have heavy budget constraints and lack of senior leadership.
Processes that could be greatly improved:
* Pill line next to the phones and nurses station (bad HIPPA)
* Protocols that don't force individuals to eat at a faster pace
* Overscheduled group meetings (take a day off)
* Just put cameras in the rooms, it'd be easier
* Standard issue starting kit. Toothbrush, underwear, ect
* (I didn't know I was allowed to have a toothbrush)
* Book cart every night before bed would be great
* Why not pass / collect clothes, towels, ect. at same time
* Chairs that can be moved by the elderly with walkers
* 2 Chairs in the rooms (1 per person)
* T.V. and headphones in the rooms (1 set per person)
* Airplane mode style with designated safe options for age
* Google translate on the tablets with voice to text
* You can always nod or shake your head to confirm translate
* Better writing utensils and plastic butter knifes go a long way
Thank you for the free toothbrush. I turned it into a quill

My recent stay at Santa Rosa Behavioral Health offered a revealing look into both the strengths and shortcomings of the facility. While food was provided in generous amounts, the nutritional value and reliance on snacks for emotional comfort raise concerns. For many patients, especially those forming new habits around coping and self-soothing, this can create or reinforce unhealthy associations with food. Beyond meals, television, brief therapy sessions, sleep, and basic coloring activities, there is very little available for meaningful engagement. Introducing a wider range of creative art projects, structured activities, and meditation practices would significantly enhance patients’ ability to develop healthy coping mechanisms.
It’s important to note that I participated in this week-long stay as part of a research experiment—a voluntary admission—however, staff were unaware of this distinction. Each division of the hospital appears to be run independently, which contributes to inconsistent communication and uneven patient experience.
Despite the facility’s limitations, several staff members stood out for their professionalism, patience, and genuine care. My assigned team included Dr. Kuala, assistant and counselor Racquel, and Jordan and Dr. Blay, all of whom were attentive and highly professional throughout my stay.
In the 600 division, Maria, the head nurse, maintained a steady professional presence. Charles, the medical nurse attendant, was meticulous with medications and dosages. Conner, a therapist, brought levity and comfort through his guitar, singing voice, and calm, charismatic demeanor.
Among the MHTs, Edward and Teddy were especially thoughtful and supportive, and Ana’s bright personality consistently lifted the atmosphere of an otherwise somber unit. These individuals work 12–16-hour shifts, often without meaningful breaks, yet they maintain composure, humor, and order—efforts that make a tremendous difference for patients who have little else to hold onto.
However, certain conditions deserve attention. Due to staffing shortages, I went nearly a week without any direct sunlight—something crucial for both mental and physical health. The mandatory quarter-hour checks at night, while necessary for safety, sometimes became grueling when doors were left fully open and harsh hallway lights made sleep difficult. Additionally, some phone messages were never passed along, which is distressing for patients whose only connection to the outside world is through loved ones.
Overall, Santa Rosa Behavioral Health has a dedicated and compassionate team working under difficult circumstances, but significant improvements in structure, activities, communication, and basic patient accommodations would greatly benefit those in their care. The staff named above deserve recognition for their exceptional commitment despite the limitations of the facility.

Santa Rosa, CA | In the bustling community of Santa Rosa, California, is the Santa Rosa Treatment Program. If you’re struggling with opioid use then you’ll find compassionate care here that’s rooted in evidence based clinical practices including medication assisted treatment, counseling, and support through community resources. They accept most insurance | Treatments Programs Payment Options | This place is amazing if you're willing to stay clean. I've been to another clinic In town when I first moved to Santa Rosa from Oakland. The people at the first clinic I went to were very condescending and less than helpful. When I switched over to SRTP I have been treated respectfully by 99% of the staff. Switching clinics to this one was one of the better decisions I've made since I moved to Santa Rosa. My counselor is amazing and really cares about what's going on with me and tries to help me find solutions for problems when they arise in my personal life. The dosing nurses are all very helpful and polite. They're also very encouraging and good at their jobs. The other thing that really struck me about this place was there was one day where a lady fell asleep in her car out in the parking lot. People didn't know if she was overdosing or something and the way that the staff reacted to the situation and how they rushed to help this person even though they didn't end up needing help in the end.... It was impressive and possibly could have been life-saving. This clinic really does care about people and they treat everybody with dignity. Thank you SRTP. You guys have helped me save my own life.

I am so happy to say this place works if you’re willing to get clean. I wouldn’t be where I am today if wasn’t for the wonderful staff and counselors. This place can save your life from the mistakes we make. I seriously cannot begin to describe how happy I am with this place and how grateful I am. If you are really thinking about making a change in your life and stay away from addiction, then this is the place. Forget about any stigma and fears you may have, sobriety shouldn’t be stigmatized and to not be feared.

The clinic is amazing in regard to the friendliness of the staff and ease of access.
I am, however, a bit disturbed by the Pride Flag (specifically the "Progress Flag") that is displayed in the main lobby. Personal feelings aside, this has no place in the display; it does not make sense. There's the US flag with all the branches of the military. Then......the Progress Flag.
No POW flag, either. How is this Pride Flag equal to the branches of the military? It's not only unnacceptable, but it's out of place. It simply doesn't make sense.
Could it be displayed elswhere? Another way?

The Victory home is a win in itself,
I spent half a year there in recovery under the shutdown and city control change over.
My addiction to life lead me down the wrong terms in life I never .
Never was a big drug user, I was a alcoholic from my first years moving to California.
I worked in the butcher blocks of life I the kitchen I never knew what this home was I called here and there even when called upon picked up on I till neglected it because being black in a dominant Hispanic church had lines drawn.
Especially the way people speak on political matters or division.
But upon arrival I was a lil off especially during pandemic alot I could've did to make it .
But I arrived broke mad at the world my parents my step parents and God parents o the choices to pull me here and with police neglect and unlawful force on other terms
I was hurt emotionally after serving a decade plus still striving to define legit works.
And feeling in Jim crow.
I let the shop work go I dropped cold turkey.
And I was shaking I read sonnys words on a radical free movement on religion scriptures and being relative from the eastern coast in bon in the great lakes and Tru state area I took my chances at detox I seen people I probably would've tried to shake off.
Especially being on level 4 on two states and a circle next door to each other and earning my credentials with all these terms on flawless mercy.
I had disbelief I saw enemies. And doubt without my brothers then I seen pastor Sonny his son who would've Neva came to if I knew he was one of the shop customers and me fighting my life choices and god-parents on every level and my career choices.
I read stories of Esther watch movies of courage and write some many scriptures of loyalty to the word and stories of triumph over binds of color and status.
Watched plays of celebration , romance threw every service gave unconditional with a bias black heart still I put my hand in was taught lessons of trust in blindspots.
And brought back of memories in A.A meeting them in disguise traveling threw the bay area and then finding a victory home an my own terms in my homelands near my mom. I failed but the gospel of recovery will always live on

I cannot say enough good things about Center Point DAAC. For years there were no services for men that wanted help with alcohol and substance abuse through MediCal in Sonoma county. Fortunately this is no longer the case. This facility opened in December 2024 and has helped many suffering from AUD and SUD already. It's a new and clean facility. Staff members are amazing, in particular my case manager. You can tell they are truly sincere in helping others find the path to sobriety. I finally feel hope again. If you or someone you know is in need of help please don't overlook this place. I would highly recommend it.
