Situated just above Serrania Park in Woodland Hills, California, you’ll find Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services (OYHFS) Woodland Hills Campus. Ahhh yes, I loved me some Pacific lodge. I was there from 1991-1994 and it took me 6 months to get out of "Intake" because i always had hours on the board and chores i had to finish before they sent me to a cottage 🤦🏾‍♂️ When i finally got my Act together i went to Niemeyer and it was better then i expected. The staff was always cool, Every Saturday they use to let us cook breakfast in the morning, And the weekends were really the Best especially if you didnt have any hours on the Board for misbehaving 😩 After about a Year i went to Bekins and thats where i had the most fun, And made the most memories like when the Northridge earthquake hit in 1994 and the night counselor was able to get all of us out of the Cottage in time because it felt like it was going to crumble. I dont remember his name but i thank him for his bravery and quick action. I was a very bad kid growing up, Sort of a Dennis the Menace and the Staff at Pacific lodge showed me patience, love, skills, good therapy and the tools i needed to strengthen out my act and become a emancipated young man and im thankful for the journey and time that i spent there 🥲🥲

I remember kind of having fun there sometimes I mean it was kind of jail so that sucks too but there were worse places I remember the staff at Clark cottage around 84-85 were kind of cool, I mean nobody was a particular asshole. They took some of us camping up to big sur I remember that was pretty cool . I forget his name but the kind of weird kid who ate the live goldfish at the lodge took off right after we got there and nobody could find him. So we ended up going back to pl and a couple weeks later, The ranger called and said they found him dead. Another dude in Clark cottage, Dan Stanton hung himself and I found him hanging in the closet that sucked John from niemeyer cottage was the basketball coach. Carter lived in the oto and was awesome on the guitar I remember we went and had someone buy us beer and we went and stashed it in the lifeguard tower of the pool and the gutters of the cottage all iced down .So when we were all out doing chores the next day we were all drinking beer having a great time Someone put some beers in the tank of the toilet and that's how we got caught lol more chores lol ! Yeah actually lots of memories from that place. Hope everybody that was there found their way Most of us weren't troubled youth. It's just hard growing up Oh yeah ,mister murphy and those shasta sodas !

I want to start by saying to ignore any negative review on this place. I personally went to Rise at Mayberry and cannot say enough of amazing things. I’ve been to many different facilities over the last decade and this one has become family. I get emotional and want to cry with gratitude when I think about how the staff/clients have been there for me during the most difficult moments of my life. Everyone turned their back on me outside of here while they didn’t judge me and gave me a chance. Ron reminds me of my papa being the kindest man ever. He cares deeply about each client, is passionate, patient, generous, the list goes on. Lauren has gone above and beyond for me with all my legal issues making sure everything is done the way it needs to be. She listens without judgment and is always available to help me. Allison was so helpful getting me into this place and throughly explained all the services that’s offered here. She’s relatable and kind. Dr. Neesha is beautiful inside and out, intelligent, and a strong woman of faith. She’s so insightful and working with her as a therapist has been my honor. Not to mention the support staff are incredible. Josh K has also made himself always available to the clients and he’s helped me so much from his own personal experiences dealing with dependency court/CPS. Chris and Tim are also such an honor to know. Tim, with all his travel stories and passion for AA. Chris, prioritizing the physical fitness in sobriety. All their stories on how they ended up here are inspirational. God brought me here unexpectedly and it’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. I live in Orange County which has a lot of recovery and places to get sober, but i couldn’t be more blessed that I landed here. I’ve been here without my young children for a couple months now and I wouldn’t have been able to get through this difficult time without everyone here. I’ll never forget what’s been done for me ❤️ addiction is a lonely disease, allow them to help guide you to a solution.

The Canyon was such an amazing experience in personal growth. Everyone on staff were incredible, providing an array of modalities and resources to help overcome some of life’s toughest challenges while deeply caring for the individuals they are treating. I have sincere gratitude for my time spent and feel a renewed sense of confidence in my ability to be my best version of self as a result of all that I have learned through the program. I highly recommend for anyone who wants to live healthier, feel better, find strength, and step into the life they want for themselves.

Amazingly caring and qualified staff; people that actually have a genuine interest in your recovery (not something that can be said for most rehabilitation programs). Diverse and dynamic curriculum that keeps days from feeling mundane/repetitive, the groups are not cookie-cutter bs. The Canyon really goes the extra mile to advocate for their clients, ensure a healthy recovery environment, and inspire real change in the people they work with. 10/10 would recommend, special shout out to Antonio, Jesse, Lee, and the rest of the staff at canyon, will miss my time here!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly Recommended I’ve been on my recovery journey since 2023, and I’m now approaching a year of sobriety. I can honestly say that The Canyon and its staff were instrumental in that success. Before coming here, I had attended many programs but never received the true treatment and support I needed. Antonio, the Executive Director, goes above and beyond for every client. When I called, he immediately sprang into action and secured my spot in treatment with unmatched drive and dedication. The therapeutic staff is exceptional—highly educated, knowledgeable, and deeply caring. Every group session provided real learning and takeaways that supported my growth. What makes The Canyon different is the genuine care and community they foster. The environment they create allows you to feel supported, encouraged, and capable of building real recovery. Though I began my sobriety journey in 2023, I didn’t start truly recovering until I walked through their doors in the summer of 2024. They saved my life, and I will be forever grateful

Elevation Behavioral Health is a luxury drug and alcohol rehab in Agoura Hills, California. They provide residential dual-diagnosis treatment and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). The residential treatment program not only treats the diagnosis but also the underlying causes of addiction and mental health issues. Clients receive a variety of th
My stay at Elevation. I was in a pretty rough place and needed to get some intensive support. I found Elevation while researching and what drew to me to them vs other places I saw was; * Private Room. I had to be honest with myself that this was something important to me, to have my own space. * Daily Individual Therapy. In addition to group having daily individual therapy to help work through things and make the most of the time there. * Electronic Devices Allowed. I have two young kids and I wanted to be able to stay in contact with family as well as use my laptop to research and view content related to what I was working through. After filling out the form on the website Stephanie the admissions director reached out right away. Before she walked me through more details about the program she checked in to make sure I was ok, I felt supported already. She helped answer all my questions as well as get the information she needed to verify insurance coverage and what I would have to pay out of pocket. She got back to me quickly again and we figured out an admission date. When I arrived in Los Angeles I was picked up at the airport and driven to their Calabasas house. I won’t go into too many details about the house, it’s pretty fantastic and there are picture on the website. I was greeted upon arrival, checked in, given a tour, and sometime to settle in my room. Everyone in the house from the cleaner, chef, coaches, therapists, and psychiatrist are supportive and genuinely interested in making you comfortable and ready for doing the personal work you need. There is a wonderful variety of therapies from individual, group, equine, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, nature walks, pool/jacuzzi, art, and music which all come at your problems from different angles and build on each other. The coaches are always available and engaged between sessions to keep the momentum going and support you. Having daily individual therapy plus two groups daily helped me dive deep into the underlying issues I was facing and my progress built on itself everyday. I felt like I was making a months progress every week. My therapist Chad was just what I needed, he was thoughtful, creative and pushed when needed to help me go further. I arrived in a very low state (not my usual self) and was able to quickly let go and unravel, the staff and my fellow patients helped put me back together and create sustainable coping techniques and strategies so I could return home a new person. Having house-mates was a wonderful experience, even though we all came from very different walks of life and reasons for coming, we found deep common ground and support with each other. We laughed, and cried, and laughed again together. The center of a house is the kitchen, and at Elevation this was no exception. Chef Jerry and Josh not only made amazing and healthy food, they were open to having us join the process and learn how to cook. We spent most of our afternoons between sessions joining in on the cooking process. Chef Jerry was like another therapist who gave us amazing life advice and was always open to listen to use when we needed a little support. Everyone at elevation from the cleaner to the coaches and the patients all eat the same food together. It felt like a big family. I felt that when I needed alone time and privacy or wanted to do something social I could move between those modalities anytime. I never felt pressure to join in anything, just welcomed. I left elevation feeling like a new person, equipped with new skills and strategies to thrive at home and at work. I highly recommend Elevation.

⭐ Hands Down the Best Mental Health Program Available. I can’t say enough good things about Elevations Behavioral Health. It’s hands down the best mental health care I’ve ever received. The setting is incredible — beautiful houses, exercise equipment, pools, jacuzzis, and so many community resources. They will take you on outings to the Pacific Ocean to watch sunsets — and yes, you *will* see dolphins! From the residential program to the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), every detail is thought about and the staff are always there to help. The Santa Monica Mountains surround you, and the views are so breathtaking you can sit for hours just taking it all in, meditating, and really feel yourself start to heal. The food is amazing too — they have private chefs who customize meals to fit your diet and treatment needs, with tons of healthy options. Unlike most residential treatment programs, you get both individual and group therapy *every day*. That’s really unheard of in a residential program — usually you would receive one or two individual sessions a week The staff and therapists are absolutely amazing — they genuinely care and don’t let you give up on yourself. I cant name them all because I would forget someone. Too many to count; dedicated and MOre than experts at what they do! If you’re struggling, please know you’re not alone. Getting help is the best thing you can do for yourself. Elevations changed my life, and it can change yours too. You *are* worth it, and you *can* do hard things. Take the first step — it’s so worth it. #mentalhealthmatters #healingjourney #mentalhealthrecovery #selfcare #youareworthit #endthestigma #mentalwellness #mindfulhealing #selflovejourney #itsokaynottobeokay #recoveryispossible #mentalhealthsupport #breakthestigma #liveyourbestlife #recovery

Elevations residential mental health treatment is exceptional. Look no further if you want to receive the best residential mental health care available in the most beautiful setting. You receive daily groups and individual therapy, which is rare in residential mental health treatment in my experience. I recently received residential at Elevations in Calabasas, CA. (Nov. 2024) I felt safe and cared for. Dr. Chaudhri cares deeply about the programs and getting things right. The dedicated technicians make sure that you are always safe and your needs are met. The therapists are dedicated and exceptional in their treatment of complex mental health diagnoses (BiPolar, depression, PTSD, OCD, anxiety.) The psychiatrist is one of the best I've ever had. The services I received and I encourage people to get are: EMDR, Nuerofeedback, massage, life coaching, nutrition consultation, meditation, acupuncture, and yoga. Make them part of your treatment if you can. The journey is hard work but being in such a beautiful place with highly qualified and compassionate people makes it easier. Always advocate for yourself and you will get what you need. I know no matter what I may need in the future Elevations Behavioral Health will be there. Thank you Elevations for changing and supporting my life. I am forever grateful. (Insurance and private pay only.) NOTE: the environment can get quite loud and bright so if you have PTSD or other sensory issues make sure to address it early with the organization or you may suffer from the sensory overload. Bring noise cancelling headphones and sunglasses to wear inside if this is a problem for you.

MCR SAVED ME FROM DRUGS, MYSELF & DRINKING! I want to talk about my experience, everyone was very kind and we had a great group that I was with at the time which really helped me to recover. The first two weeks I had still been off the wagon, but as soon as I confessed to the group I immediately began to heal. Carlee was an excellent therapist for me and I remember having lots of friends supporting each other while I was getting my recovery. We would practice breathing exercises, watch movies that would help out with our recovery, and talk about anything or anyone who has been bothering us recently or from anytime in our lives. They even had a special brain training activity on the computer that you do to help focus on recovery. All the teachers were so nice and had fun assignments to do to help keep our minds off drugs and alcohol. They even have doctors who help provide medication to help keep drugs and alcohol away. I am much more responsible and take medication now to help maintain my sobriety. Thank you MCR!

I’m at a crossroad in my life where I finally acknowledged I needed professional help for my drinking. I called the 1st number I googled. It landed me with Profound. I just finished my 30 days in California at one of their incredible homes located in one of the most prestigious areas in Los Angeles. The home was nothing short of amazing. The staff was top notch and all have been in my shoes. They were very easy to talk to, and the environment was comfortable and accommodating. I was not anticipating going to another State for treatment. They covered my flight there and back. After finishing my 30 days, I now feel equipped with what I need to stay sober for my family and myself. Thank you Profound for giving me sobriety and a new outlook on life.

The academic coordinator, Maya is very passionate about her work and goes above and beyond to aid her students in not only reaching their academic goals but exceeding them in a kind, respectful manner. She consistently helps students in an empathetic manner, but does not complete assignments for them. She is very open and understands troubles students may be facing and helps them cope while not letting them fall behind on their studies. For me, she spent hours through IT to help me in completing college orientation prerequisites and kept in contact with my family to make things clear and easily understandable. She also helps her students complete resumes, TODO lists, and understand requirements for important events in life such as acquiring a drivers permit. RTC is not the best option for SUDs but it can act as a detox center. Without Maya, I may have fallen behind on my academic ventures and not have gotten much out of this RTC. Most staff are very understanding and helpful, but can only help so much when it comes to SUDs.

This facility has played an integral role in my son’s recovery. The staff went above and beyond throughout his care. My son’s therapist, Leah, was the most integral part of his treatment. She was able to see what previous therapists have missed. The facility itself is beautiful and offers great therapies. I highly recommend this location if you are on the fence about trusting a facility with your child.

My child ended up getting involuntarily discharged and I'm still giving Evolve a 5 star rating because they were fantastic throughout the 30 day stay. Admissions helped us through the entire process over a weekend when my child was kicked out elsewhere. Facility was great. Staff from Management to therapists were all kind and very caring. Where Paradigm (Malibu) felt much more corporate, Evolve treated my daughter with so much compassioin, even through the discharge process. The therapist were even crying at discharge, and more telling, my child really wanted to go back after the episode passed. Medical staff tried much harder than elsewhere to find the secret sauce to help my kiddo. Good news, we did eventually find a med (at home) that helped a TON and we're mostly under control now. I'm sure Evolve made a big difference in this process. If you are a parent with a troubled teen, hang in there! Feels impossible some days, but I highly recommend the Evolve team. Thank you Clara, Leah, Anna,, Allexis & Dellyna!

Hi. My name is Kymberly , And I was asked to write a review. I feel honored to do this. I have been to multiple inpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers throughout my life. I’m 55 years old and what I wanna say about Purposes Recovery is that they go above and beyond helping you with your wants your dreams and your needs. I’ve never been to a treatment center that allowed me to bring my dog with me. Purposes Recovery is allowing my five month old puppy to be with me. Not only that, but I was so screwed up in my disease that I couldn’t fly from Oregon to California without getting so drunk and missing the flight, So what did they do? They sent someone out to help me get on that flight and fly me down here to LA. No other treatment center I’ve ever been to has done anything like that either. The facilities are so nice. Very clean. I never felt like I was in a place that made me feel uncomfortable and I have pretty high standards. I would recommend Purposes Recovery to anyone who is looking to change their life. I will be forever grateful for these people that work at Purposes Recovery and how they have helped me so much. They’ve gone above and beyond what any other treatment center does. I am eternally grateful. Sincerely, Kymberly Sweeney

I stayed at evolve the end of last year/ beginning of this year, and I had a very positive experience with the staff, treatment, food, all of it. It seems like everyone there does really care about the patients and wants to help. I loved the approach they had with cbt and dbt. Very helpful to me. (i still utilize them almost daily!)The one thing that I did have issues with were the other kids. There was quite some violence coming from the kids that were there at the same time as me. It's not on the staff at all though. They did the best they could in very harsh situations and still kept all of us safe. I do recommend this place if your kid deals with depression/anxiety but would not recommend if they have violent tendencies. I just dont think mixing those two types of kids works out well.

Our Dear Evolve Family, My name is Mona Chunara, and my daughter’s name is Alisa (Rust) Chunara. My family and I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Evolve Residential Treatment House in Woodland Hills to support our daughter. Words cannot fully express our gratitude for the care and dedication of the entire Evolve team. We hope that every family navigating mental health challenges for their loved ones can discover this incredible facility. The staff, administrators, and everyone involved foster a compassionate, supportive environment that has made a world of difference for Alisa and for our entire family. Not only did Alisa receive all the support she needed during her stay, but the team also ensured a smooth transition into aftercare programs like PHP and IOP. They guided us step by step through her reintegration into school and daily life, equipping her with confidence and self-esteem. A special thank you to Ms. Kendall, Alisa’s therapist, for her unwavering understanding, encouragement, and kindness. Her compassionate and humble nature truly shines, and her support has been a cornerstone of Alisa’s journey. Because of the collective effort of the entire team, Alisa and I have been able to reconnect and enjoy our time together in meaningful ways. As we leave Evolve Residential, my family and I carry cherished memories of Alisa’s time there. Though our stay was brief, its impact on our lives is profound and lasting. For this, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member of the Evolve family. Our special thanks to Ms. Kendall, Ms. Urtecho, Dr. Chu, Ms. Aguilar, Ms. Katryn, the nurses, and all the other staff members whose names we may have unintentionally missed. Each of you played an invaluable role in Alisa’s journey and our family’s healing. Thank you for your compassion, guidance, and unwavering support! With deepest appreciation, Mona, Alisa, and Family

Mackenzie, Mark, Christine, Miguel, Kayla, Charlie, Kathleen, Jordan, Brita, Deb, Stephanie, Mel, Taylor, Anya, Bill, Jordan, Joshua. These are all of the staff members that helped me greatly on my journey to healing. If I wrote the list of fellow clients that helped me, this list would have thirty more names in addition to. Breathe is a gift. A gift I was lucky enough to receive. That said, to those lucky enough to be gifted by a family member the opportunity to go to Breathe or anyone else trying to choose a facility to heal. This place will make you feel alive again. If this is your first time in treatment, know and remember this. Do not hold back. Do not hold in the truth. Let everything out. Absolutely everything. Take it from me, a stranger, who held back and I regret it dearly. Be honest, be fearless and let the healing begin.

80 days sober today! 🎉 I have been at Breathe since May 5th, 2025 and this has been a life changing experience. I will grieve this experience when I leave at the of this month. I discharge on the 25th and I feel I’ve been equipped with all the tools needed to stay sober. The staff are empathetic, compassionate and well educated on addiction recovery. I’m going to cherish all the memories I have at Breathe. I have met some of the most amazing people— friends I will hold dear to my heart for the rest of my life. If you’re struggling with addiction or an eating disorder, come be apart of the Breathe community. It will be tough but so worth it. I’ve unpacked 40 years of trauma here; leaving Breathe with freedom, healing and self compassion. I’m looking forward to a life free of substances and binge eating. Thank you, Breathe for saving my life!

I had a beautiful eye awaken experience at breathe Valerio was a top notch therapist who can read you inside out and give such insightful advice.Blake was amazing as well and last but not least Gracie the Cm was so compassionate and amazing I personally didn’t finish treatment unfortunately but am going to another facility and hopefully can use the amazing tools I was able to get in breathe I am eternally grateful for the sense of community I felt and was touched by the place deeply. I unfortunately lied to myself and didn’t take advantage of them to the full extent that I should have but I am excited on the journey I am going to go on with the skills I learned there Thank you breathe for giving me a beautiful new outlook on life and last but not least thank you to the Amazing nurses Neenah and Lexus you were top notch personable and such beautiful souls. I have not one bad thing to say other than my lack of accountability in my part but something I learned at breathe from another amazing Cm Hassan is things happen for me not to me. Please go here if you need help and take advantage of it to the full degree that I couldn’t

I can't say enough positive things about this place and everyone working there to fully express my gratitude. I found Dr. Elliot after almost 2 years of dealing with traditional doctors who had no idea how to treat me. He was so compassionate and knowledgeable that I knew I was in great hands and fully entrusted him with my care. His treatment plan was gradual yet effective and was exactly what I needed to start healing. I honestly don’t know where I’d be right now if I hadn’t gone to Ascend Integrative Medicine. In addition to Dr. Elliot, George is a rockstar who makes getting stuck by a needle practically painless. Highly recommend!

I reached a cross road on my life. I could continue down the dark road that alcohol presents or become strong and make a change for myself. I chose to make a change for the better and beat my demon. I’ve been at this facility for over 30 days. And it’s the best thing I could’ve done. The staff genuinely cares about my recovery. They have been here for me every step of the way. I truly appreciate the program and will continue to stay the coarse here in out. I will continue my with my recovery after I leave with their IOP program. Intensive out patient program. I feel I’ve set myself up for success and I’m looking forward to the brighter future that alcohol didn’t provide.

I came to 4 Seasons because I thought I was to the point of hopelessness. I was in a deep depression, and had been in alcohols grip for the better part of 10 years. I will say this, the staff at 4 Seasons is fantastic. This was absolutely one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. This place changed me. I came to a point in my life where I was done with drinking and figured I knew nothing about sobriety I could easily do 90 days to a year without Alcohol Yet I could not sustain it. I reached out to my son who had spent sometime on the business side of recovery and knew of all the recovery centers in So Cal. He highly recommended Valley Recovery Center for which I’m grateful and appreciative of.. It was a big step and I was ready to be Sober. It was a bit humbling for me but I was willing to do the work….Giving it all the percent I had I really believe I did my 30 days with a really great group of gentlemen in recovery as well which the counselors kept commenting on the chemistry we had. And being the best group they had in a long time!! The facility was top notch and I took full advantage of all the exercise equipment, weights, pool for swimming and the almost quarter mile circular driveway..They have a couple of steep hills on property as well..I lost 30lbs while I was there… I took the opportunity to get fit while becoming sober of mind, spirit and body…and decided to make fitness part of my sobriety journey!! Some of my recovery mates made comments like What’s up..I told them I was training for the fight of my life…The fight would be with sobriety when I left there…Funny how some of them started working out the same way! The counselors, instructors, therapist and Dr.’s were great..Tough at times but great..I always got the feeling while there that they were always rooting for me!! I’ve been sober almost 3 years..I haven’t been perfect and had 2 falls that lasted less than a week each..I was able to right myself immediately from the thing I learned the most at VCR…To build a network around you in case you fall and for me stick to a routine of taking care of yourself… The other thing that still sticks with me everyday was that day in recovery when I finally/truly learned the word shame ..I couldn’t even say the word…That was a real fight for me and took a couple of days to sink in but when it did and I came to understand it and admit it was the day that I no longer had that unknowing thing that gnawed at me and would get me all twisted at times and I would need to drink it away and reset my unconscious mind…. Anyways..Recovery is one step at a time and a great 1st step is wanting to be sober and the second great step would be toward Valley Recovery Center!!! (Btw-One of the best things about being there is having a cook on hand for all 3 meals…The food while there was the best) Also know if you choose this Sobering Journey that for me now..Everyday I wake up is the greatest day I’ll ever live..Best wishes to you!!

I recently completed treatment at Cliffside Malibu, and I can say without hesitation that it is one of the most clinically sophisticated and compassionate programs in the country. When I first called, Admissions told me they were ranked #1 in the state — and after experiencing the quality of care firsthand, I understand exactly why. The program not only met those expectations, it surpassed them. From day one, the clinical team demonstrated a level of expertise, structure, and individualized attention that I’ve never seen anywhere else. Every therapist, every group, every touchpoint felt intentional and grounded in evidence-based care. You can feel how much time and thought goes into their curriculum and how deeply the staff understands trauma, addiction, and whole-person recovery. What stood out the most was how aligned the entire team is — admissions, nursing, therapists, case management, and operations all move in the same direction. There’s a sense of steadiness and professionalism in everything they do. I never felt like “just another client.” They knew my history, tracked my progress, and actively worked with me to rebuild structure, tools, and long-term stability. Cliffside creates an environment where safety, dignity, and real clinical work can happen. It’s not just beautiful — it’s purpose-built for healing. If you’re looking for a program with depth, integrity, and proven outcomes, Cliffside Malibu absolutely lives up to its reputation. I’m grateful for the care I received, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who truly wants to change their life.

I came to La Fuente for the sober living in early Feb of 2011, directly from a 6 day detox. I didn’t know anything about sobriety or treatment, or even interacting w many people at that point, I stayed for 15 months, & I still have my sober date from Jan of 2011. I was treated kindly & respectfully & was given the space I needed to heal, & the structure I needed to learn how to live a happy & sober life. I owe the life I have today to La Fuente & everyone who paved the way for me there. Special thanks to Manny, Anil & Edwin
