As someone who used to go in and out of treatment centers, this program saved my life. Located in sunny La Jolla on Windansea beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, this program changed my life. What an amazing crew of people, the owner is THE chillest surfer dude. A great man that has a lot of sober experience. He constantly provides opportunities for growth and is very encouraging to guys like me who have a lot to learn. On many occasions he stuck his neck out for me and personally saw to it that I was getting what I needed to set me up for a promising future in sobriety. The staff are kind, very cool, amazing people as well. Down to earth and ready to help. This recovery center is staffed with people who helped to guide me into becoming a respectable man in sobriety. Windansea Recovery has helped me to find a path that I am so excited to follow. I consider these men and women my friends, and I look forward to seeing them again soon when I get the chance to visit the wonderful place where I learned to live gratefully, joyfully and humbly.

I strongly recommend PRI to any family seeking higher level or care in San Diego. I am thoroughly impressed with the integration of evidence-based practices and the dedication to ongoing learning amongst the clinical team. Dr. Kuo and Dr. Warter are both highly competent and skilled clinicians who lead their clinical team with support, encouragement, and care. I wouldn’t hesitate to refer a family member or friend to this program.

Our family is forever grateful to the entire team at Protected Roots, Integrative Treatment Center. The team created a customized treatment plan tailored to address all of the challenges our teenager and family as a whole were facing. Our child worked closely with Dr. Warter who held one-on-one therapy sessions with our teen. Dr. Warter quickly developed a strong rapport with our child and supported us parents in holding our teen accountable when boundaries were not adhered to. Our teen also participated in a therapeutic group run by Dr. Kuo. We all found Dr. Kuo to be available, supportive, and empathetic at every turn. Dr. Kuo structured each session to our induvial needs and goals. We found the sessions with Dr. Kuo to be so valuable and effective- to hear from other families about their struggles which mirrored our own, helped all of us to feel less different, less isolated, and less alone. We also enjoyed working with the interns in group therapy who connected with the teens in our sessions so powerfully.
Each member of Protected Roots played a significant role in supporting our teen’s mental health recovery and improving the lives of each member of our family overall. Again, forever grateful!
