I've been to two different rehabs before this one (one being a well-known, Nationwide facility) and this is by far the superior institution. They have several different levels of care to assist in every stage of the rehabilitation process. The detox was smooth and cautious; I felt extremely safe and comfortable. The group sessions are gentle and inviting, to let clients know that they are in capable hands and an accepting environment. The therapy sessions dive deep into the mental health issues that lead to addiction. The staff is professional when they need to be, but also speak to clients like they are real people and not just another patient. The homey atmosphere (as opposed to a hospital setting) makes the experience both realistic and comforting. The way it's ran shows clients that they can live a normal, sober life. It impacts their recovery journey by letting clients set attainable daily and long-term goals. The staff empowers each client to know they have the strength to pursue these goals, with the help from them and then eventually on their own. There were people there who genuinely cared, listened to me, and helped me through a very difficult time. I’m grateful for the experience and the people I met, and I would still recommend this facility to someone who is looking for help. However, I do feel that there is an important issue that needs to be addressed regarding medications at discharge. Before leaving, I was specifically told that all of my medications would be going home with me. I understood that to mean exactly that—all medications I had been prescribed and paid for would be included in my discharge medications. When I got home and realized that one of my medications was missing, I called the facility to ask about it. I was then told that I “didn’t need” the medication. My concern is that I had already been told I would be taking all of my medications home, and I had also paid for the medication. Even if they felt I didn’t currently need it, there was still a possibility that I could run into a situation where I might need it, which is exactly why I was concerned about not having it available. I understand that medical professionals may make decisions about what medications are necessary, but if a medication has been prescribed, paid for, and the patient has been specifically told that it will be sent home with them, I feel there should be clear communication about any changes before discharge. I shouldn’t have had to get home, discover that something was missing, and then call to find out why. This is not meant to take away from the positive aspects of my experience. I’m thankful for the care and support I received, but I do believe the discharge medication process could be handled much better. Clear communication and making sure patients receive what they were told they would receive would make the transition home much less stressful. They also provide you with a personalized medication regimen which alleviates the stressors of depression, anxiety, sleep problems, etc. that typically present themselves during treatment. Three meals are provided a day and snacks are always readily available. The only area that could use some work is the organization of phone time and med pass around the daily schedules. Overall, there’s always healthy and productive activities to do at this facility, and I finished my experience feeling much more clear minded and hopeful for my future outside of treatment. Overall the staff are good people. I can tell they are there because they care for people and their recovery. However, when it comes to holistic, non-Western medicine modalities & healing practices, they are not very accommodating. It is a place where you have to surrender your ego in order to be cooperative and adhere to their approach to recovery and scheduled activities. I was in psychosis during detox, their medication helped alleviate symptoms of my withdrawls. However, my psychosis was getting worse. They sent me to a psychiatrist for an evaluation, and synchronistically there was an add on the TV in the waiting room for a new anti-depressant. Following the add for the medication was the side effects, which included thoughts of suicide. That was already occurring. My intuition told me to refrain from fulfilling a prescription to any medication. Had I’d had the option for Ayurvedic or any kind of traditional herbal medicine, I believe my symptoms would have gone away, or at least alleviated significantly. I don’t believe anyone should get special treatment that’s superior to the other. However, I do feel it should be ok for them to have a bit more of an individualistic approach to each persons needs for their recovery. I began to feel much disdain from staff and fellow residents for expressing my needs. I think it is a result of their program having limited financial resources. Although, it doesn’t appear that way when you see a parking lot full a luxury and brand new vehicles that many of the staff drive. Although I am happy that the staff can afford a decent living, if it affects the accommodation in any way, it doesn’t appear like a place that is willing to adjust their methods to support individuals in various age groups, treat substances of choice accordingly, or offer alternative medicine. Or at the very least offer brain regenerating supplements upon request to help with brain regeneration and returning one’s body to baseline/homeostasis. However, please note that if you need rehab, it will save your life to go and have a bed to sleep with wonderful meals made with love. Please don’t let my review prevent you from doing what you have to do to save your life. I was homeless and needed a detox and I am grateful for the fact that they take Medical and offer their services. They can and will help those in need for sure. Herbs have helped me tremendously but not having a safe home caused me to resort to destroying myself with drugs. I’ve had many friends die that I’ve met in 12 steps programs so I stopped going many years back. However, it works if you work it. The staff showed compassion and genuinely seemed to care about my progress and well-being. I would highly recommend this treatment center to anyone who is ready to make a change and is looking for a place where they can feel supported along the way. After The Arrow House He went to Newport Academy for 2.5 months part time outpatient and it was a great transition for him! We are currently in therapy once a week with The Help group. - they are great too. They have a therapist, psychiatrist, and parent advocate I meet with once a week. It’s been 5 months since he stayed there. Our kid was getting straight A’s there for a while! We have a family meeting every week on Sundays to discuss as how things are going and implement rules or change things. This is really helpful because we have two households. We are so grateful for the Team at The Arrow House. There’s no way we could have gotten here without them!! I feel like we have our kid back! I joined the PTA and am more involved in school, and I help with the bake sales. Brittany and Martha and one other person in front desk that I don’t remember the name of was very helpful since first day. Taline the nurse who dispenses the medication was very nice and helpful same with Bianca (Im sure that’s her name but a part of me feels like her name might be different and I accidentally mixed the name up so I’m leaving this note up just in case I got the name wrong but she’s on the computer in the first door left when you enter in the hallways) was also very nice and attentive and helpful and I think is the manager of the entire place and she helps me transfer to my new place by coordinating everything. The doctor with glasses is very chill and very fun to have conversations with and helped me find my correct dose of medication. And Angela who isn’t my counselor but has lots of candy would give me lots of candy especially airheads she is the candy lady. My first counselor was Gloria who was very kind and listened very well in sessions and second counselor I forgot name of never showed up and I think got fired and was a weird woman and third counselor I forgot name of was a cool guy and listened very well.
