I called on a beautiful spring morning while feeling extremely vulnerable and emotionally exhausted. The person who answered had such a kind and reassuring voice that I immediately felt more comfortable. For years, I was reluctant to use the VA because of what I had heard about problems across the country. Due to the lack of doctors in the area and very poor service provided by a healthcare company in Oakhurst, I started using this facility. The experience has been just excellent. If only private healthcare providers were this good. I can honestly say that I have never had such fine, professional service and I am 72 years old.

Every time that I have come to this clinic it has been a good experience. I have been here about five times so far or different services. Normally I use the Fresno facility, but since I have been working in Fish Camp this location has been perfect. I highly recommend this clinic to any veterans living in the mountain area. Forget about going to the Fresno VA hospital. Thank you to the entire staff who are creating a pleasant environment for veterans to seek healthcare. Also thank you to everybody who helps maintain the facility and grounds, because it always looks beautiful.

I am very grateful for The Lakes. Everyone on staff was kind, patient and empathetic. We had a family member stay there and The Lakes changed her life and our lives for the better. They treated her like family and from the time she arrived to the time she was ready to come home... it was immediately apparent she was in much better health mentally, emotionally and physically. Not only did they provide her with help she sorely needed but they provide the tools needed to ensure success after as well with a more 'dual diagnostics' approach which I found VERY effective. Now with life after The Lakes, she made friends with other guests there and has established a great support group. The Lakes approach encourages guests to develop friendships that people can carry after they leave. I've seen other treatment centers and this is not your 'typical' treatment center. This one has a much more 'family' oriented approach that will help you on multiple levels. So THANK YOU to all the staff there... I feel like we got a new lease on life and we are super grateful for all your help. (Also... the food was excellent so kudos to the kitchen staff too) You just don't get that 'family vibe' anywhere else for a place like this and that's a key component to The Lakes success. UPDATE: one year later and she is still doing great... not just great but the happiest and most fulfilled I've ever seen her. The Lakes really works... I am SO grateful for them.

First steps recovery was the best experience I could’ve asked for . First steps changed my outlook on life and has brought peace to my mental health . Zach my counselor/instructor was amazing , very reliable , and always there when I needed him ! Gabby, my therapist , brought me peace of mind and helped me become vulnerable as a man and helped resolve the mental battles in my head ! Treatment center is extremely compassionate and understanding with patients and goes out of their way to make sure everyone is met with viable treatment that works well for them. I’ve gone through several programs & my counselor Melissa especially is the best I’ve ever had in getting help- she has helped me get the assistance that I did not know I needed in some ways. So after using a salinas clinic force few years and being here for about 7 years I can tell you with certainty that this is the place to go. First off Anthony and mike at reception are AMAZING, Anthony knows his job better then any receptionist ive ever talked to, and mike holds it down so no fights or belligerent people come in. Then curtis, he might not be your best friend, you might even kinda hate him but no matter how you feel or what you do curtis will help you, but listen he will not take no BS i tried lol. Then the new director steve whos been there a month or 2, i dont know him to well but from what i can see, he know his job well, hes very calm mannered and truly want to help people, hes a good guy. And the councilors got a pretty fast turn around i think ive had 10 different councilors there some bad some good, but under steve and curtis leadership the last few months i was there i kept getting impressed by the councilors, i had trevor when i left, and hes is awesome, again his main goal is to help you, hes there more of a friend rather then a authority figure but hes always pushing you to do better without holding onto your mistakes, the best thing is i was able to be 100% honest with him and not once did he say anything to make things hard, he listens to ya pushes you to do better then trys to find any resource you might need to be successful, AMAZING staff. This comes from the guy who has cussed out half of the staff too. I really try to not let things get to me but unfortunately I have had confrontation with the past 3 head directors there to the point of me saying things I wish I hadn't but the patients and ability to actually listen is incredible here. Like with me getting dope sick and cussing Curtis out he holds his cool, holds his ground and sat with me until we both were happy with the outcome, and its crazy, your really mad about some bs, you go and try to compain then start cussing but when its over the people you were fighting and that you thought dont give a crap ends up being more of a friend there ya know. After fighting curtis every time i saw him its hey man whats up, not holding grudges, making crap hard instead its curtis saying i hope things are getting better, if they are hes happy and goes on, if not he wil offer to sit with you and clear it up. this happened multiple times (im sorry Curtis ) I had a councler who was new and was trying but honestly was the worst listener and worst councilor I've had, I tried for weeks to get switched and it ended with me talking to curtis and that crappy councilor in a room and me explaining to this guy how to listen to a person when they talk, I told him to his face I dont like you and want nothing to do with you. Again saving grace Curtis comes and after that meeting with him things got better after 2 weeks then that councilor disappeared (not fired im pretty sure he just got a job elsewhere). Im just saying this to let any one know that if you go here the staff will hold there ground with what they have to do but they will also go to bat for you any time you need. Every staff member I had confrontation with, ended with a pretty good outlook on each other rather then what normally happen every where else l, after a incident they hold grudges against you and make things hard till you leave. Again this place after 7 years I would recommend. Im living in salinas and for the first month or 2 I drove to fresno to get my weekly bottles until I was set in monterey county. This place won't do everything you want but they will do EVERYTHING In there power to help. Anthony, steve, Trevor, curtis, mike, and everyone else ESPECIALLY the nurses, Mia is amazing nurse, lin knew everything but a little slow, Renee always has answers for anything you have and i cant believe I lost the last nurse name at windows 3. Regardless nursing staff AMAZING. I really hope anyone that actually read my entire post can see that this is all true. I may be taking longer than most when it comes to my recovery, but factoring in the e multiple losses of friends to suicide or health conditions, trauma I forced myself through grief and what I thought was acceptance resulting in multiple failed stents of sobriety, I learned to take my treatment slower at a pace that I’m not racing through moments of accomplishments that truly I wasn’t ready for. Aegis is the first treatment program that I found a counselor who listens when I need to let it out, gives me the tools and resources I need to be successful, and holds me accountable while being honest and not allowing me to skate by doing the minimum. She was the only person I felt could provide me a safe environment when in a crisis, and was kind enough to sit there with me when I just needed someone there. Sandy has been the most stable person I’ve had during my entire life going through recovery, and I don’t think I would be here today if it wasn’t for her. Thank you Sandy, for being the stability to myself, and many other patients at Aegis. We are grateful for you.

Dr. Lasher is very compassionate and not judgemental at all. He'll have you feeling well weeks before any other methadone doc in Fresno. As for the counselors, some are great and a few are more harmful than helpful. Use this program for what it is meant and you'll be happy at AEGIS.

I had a great experience with the nurse practioner although I cant remember her name, she was incredibly empathetic, kind, and gentle throughout my visit. She took the time to listen to my concerns and made me feel truly cared for and understood. It’s rare to find someone so patient and compassionate in healthcare. I came in there with withdrawals, I was a total mess thinking I was going to be judged, but that all went a way from the moment that I met her. Ill be praying for you!

I think west care is a very good place to start if u are struggling with addiction. They assign u to a counselor as soon as u arrive and they have classes to help teach u and understand how to cope with it. Going into the program u have to surrender yourself to change, they have resources to help u get on your feet & become a productive member of society. the biggest plus was the food on occasion and being able to bring my daughter as it is open to mothers and children. The biggest minus where no social passes so u are not allowed to go out of the facility unless u have an appt & also being in pending ( isolation) for the first 5 days from my understanding these changes occured due to covid so they are trying to keep us safe other then that it's probably one of the best facilities to come too. 🤗

I am truly grateful for WestCare and the staff while I was there. I want to say that they have a phenomenal program set in place for people who are seeking lifelong sobriety. If you are serious about your recovery and your program, then WestCare in my opinion, is a great place to start! I completed my program in December of 2023 and because of the guidance and tools I was given at WestCare, I remain clean today. I have 20 months and am an active member of the NA program. end of da day, it'z a good place.. some not all staff, genuinely care about u & ur sobriety, & want to c u succeed in life.. & othr staff, well it'z der job, day got bill'z to pay.. & as for rule'z, sum r straight up ridiculous, & sum mak u feel lik ur 5 yr'z old, wit dat said, many rule'z r broken.. i'm not say'n diz is a bad place, cuz it really is not.. evryone has ther own opinion & der own experience, it really is up to u & how u spend ur day'z ther... ma experience was o.k.. in da end, i'm grateful & thankful to all da counselors, teacher'z & staff for bearing wit me & having da opportunity to come here.. i learned alot about myself & addiction.. & i made so much memorie'z dat i will remember for a lifetime, & most importantly so many forevr friend'z.. so i wish u all nothing but da best.. & hope u become a bettr version of urself, now, during recovery & in ur future.. for some, diz might b da last chance to do dat. so dont waste it.. god bless u all..

end of da day, it'z a good place.. some not all staff, genuinely care about u & ur sobriety, & want to c u succeed in life.. & othr staff, well it'z der job, day got bill'z to pay.. & as for rule'z, sum r straight up ridiculous, & sum mak u feel lik ur 5 yr'z old, wit dat said, many rule'z r broken.. i'm not say'n diz is a bad place, cuz it really is not.. evryone has ther own opinion & der own experience, it really is up to u & how u spend ur day'z ther... ma experience was o.k.. in da end, i'm grateful & thankful to all da counselors, teacher'z & staff for bearing wit me & having da opportunity to come here.. i learned alot about myself & addiction.. & i made so much memorie'z dat i will remember for a lifetime, & most importantly so many forevr friend'z.. so i wish u all nothing but da best.. & hope u become a bettr version of urself, now, during recovery & in ur future.. for some, diz might b da last chance to do dat. so dont waste it.. god bless u all..
