They had a daily schedule of different things to do. During your stay you can have visitors and after the 72 hr hold give you passes to leave the campus for an hour or so. The staff was great and the patients were also welcoming. If I needed help this is where I would go. I was in Villa Fairmont several years ago and while it may have had some problems (more like a 3.5 or 4 star) it was a place that helped me stabilize in a safe location until I was accepted in a Dual Diagnosis Recovery Home (Bonita House). I currently work in the recovery field and live an independent life. To me that is worth all of the struggles that I have had with any of the programs I have been in. Gotta go through hell before you get to heaven. That's just the way it is when you have a diagnosis that isn't socially acceptable... Staring at Cherry Hill Sobering then to Detox was an experience I’ve never done so of course I was frightened. To my surprise the entire staff was nothing but spectacular. To name a few Debbie, Tom, Sydney, Victoria, Peter Paul, and Ken! They made the experience heartfelt and It made me believe I chose the right place. From there I went to Cronin House, just when you think the experience can’t get any better it does. The food is amazing thanks to Maria and Cece. They cook for all the locations and work their butts off! The staff here is phenomenal, I have to name them cuz they are just that cool … Mari, Trey, Tarik, Tommy, Eric, Jason, Nick, Rene, Suki, Kim and Kimmy, Jose, Angel, Chris, Kwamin, Duane, Dr. Martin, Austin. Antemira the nurse Re and the Program manager Sean. From experience I can truly say these people care about the clients making sure we feel supported, safe and they are fun! I loved the staff so much I ended up writing them thank you letters the day before I left but one thing I need to complain about is the no contact rule, some people need comfort through physical touch and that isn't allowed in there and it doesn't help when someone's sobbing their eyes out and just need a hug but you're not allowed to. Also I tried to braid this one girl's hair but they literally wouldn't let me because of the no contact rule but we just did it anyways when they weren't looking. Other than that tbh I don't have much bad to say about it if any of the staff ever see this just know I'm gonna keep my promise and I'm gonna come back just to visit and bring you guys some good ass food because I truly did love every single one of you and appreciated all of your guy's advice and input and with regard to all the pros and cons I would give my stay a 7/10 (mostly just because the food kinda sucked) but yea if you get the choice to go anywhere (you can request to go to a specific psych ward sometimes) I would go here. The New Bridge environment (residential treatment facility, & extended satellite sober living environment), are safe and clean, and provide the type of space where I was able to successfully focus on, addiction & mental health curriculums, group therapy, as well as personalized "one-on-one" therapy/counseling sessions. Additionally, the treatment facility environment is supportive of "peer-to-peer" feed back & coping skills, "focus" and "affirmation tools".., all (to which I found) have great value in early recovery...! What I enjoyed most about New Bridge is the dignified and professional way each staff member treated me, and treated me as valued (from the newest staff member, to the kitchen staff, to nurse staff, maintenance staff, the on-site doctors, to group staff, the clinical coordinator staff, the assistant director, up to the director). These staff members, all, display a "real human" level of authenticity and care...! I'm truly happy that I chose New Bridge..!!! They don’t have many patients at once so I did not have to worry so much about others while I was there and able to focus solely on myself. Big shout out to Alicia and Gus. Alicia helped me deal with my HR Rep and insurance so that I didn’t have to. I don’t know that I could have done anything of the sort during that first week. I came in having zero knowledge of how any of it worked and Alicia was able to answer all of my questions and help with whatever was needed. I felt that Alicia truly looked out for each client. As a technician, Gus really took the time and effort to help me with the entire process. I was clueless when I first walked in but I felt taken care of and looked after. I felt that Gus really cared for all of the patients on a personal level. He tried to connect with each of us and shared his knowledge and hope with the whole group. Overall, I felt safe here. Which is huge when dealing with addiction and being afraid of asking for help. I was able to worry only about my recovery knowing that everything else was being looked after. I recommend to anyone dealing with addiction needing to separate themselves from their substance as the first step on their recovery journey. The first time I came here, I was 12 years old. I was very scared but the staff were really nice and supportive. The program is really helpful, I'd recommend this place to any child who is struggling with mental health. They also have a program to treat ED's. I've been to the 3 East B adolscent psych unit multiple times, so I'm very familiar with everyone. The therapist Emilio, Megan, and Susanna were so nice to me, and a nurse named Chris. I spent 2 of my birthdays here, my 13th and my 14th. They made it a fun time even if we were in a hospital:) The patients I've been with were always really nice. I was withdrawing from a super heavy Xanax addiction. The withdrawal was the scariest thing that I've ever been through but they used medically assisted treatment to taper me off. I went through hell and back but they almost got me through it. Luckily they knew how to treat me. They sent me to the mental health department when things got really bad and then I came back for the rest of my treatment. The groups and counselors are great and very informative and educational. The nurses on the other hand were horrible and didnt understand what was happening with me during withdrawal. I told them I was hallucinating and scared and didn't know where I was in the middle of the night but they just told me to go back to my room. I begged for help and was scared to death but they wouldn't help me. They ended up transporting me to mental health when I was blacked out and out of control. Doctor Kayman is extremely knowledgeable about the brain and the counseling staff is amazing as well, always offering a listening ear and great advice to help any problems that may arise while in treatment. To begin, when I was first getting checked in, a girl was on her way out literally crying with gratitude for how much this place saved her life. You could tell how genuine and appreciative she was. Super heart warming, so that was a good start. Pros to going to Palm Ave: -The staff is great, they genuinely care and all are in recovery themselves so they’re very empathetic. -It’s small, so if you’re someone who is anxious or nervous, don’t be. If I had to guess I’d say they can only hold up to about 15-20 at most and that’s a huge positive when you’re not at your best at don’t want to be around a hundred other people. -Food was very clean, healthy, and always available. -Meds are all taken care of for you, they’ll even pick up your prescriptions and make sure you get them on time, even if you’re asleep, they’re on top of it. -There’s really only one mandatory meeting (NA/AA) but several groups which are optional that I found really helpful and well led. -They don’t press you on where or when you need to be somewhere like other treatment centers do. If you need to sleep- you can sleep. Special shout out to Christian (who helped with meds, he always has good music playing and just a very positive vibe). Also, Tree. I spent ten minutes talking to this man and gained more perspective than I have in probably the last three years. Heather also, very chill and easy to talk to. These people really care. They’ve completely turned their lives around and some have come from really difficult pasts. It’s inspiring to hear their stories. Not to turn this into a novel but I’m just really stoked places like this exist- and free no less with medi-cal. To finish, if you’re struggling at all, just go for a few days. I only stayed a few days bc I had previously detoxed in a hospital but some stay much longer- the choice is yours. Thank you to everyone at Palm Ave. I won’t forget it. Good Morning" or " Good Night" They actually take an interest in why your there and what they can do to make your stay as successful as possible. Classes are set up and offered throughout the day to ensure that you have some tools when you leave. There is medical on sight and a caseworker who jumps through hoops to make sure that each client has access to all the available resources in the county. They reopened and came recommended by members of the community. I was hesitant at first but I showed up embarrassed and defeated. was treated with respect and staff went out of the way to help me. Female lead staff even brought me clothing, books and hygiene from her home because I was in need of deodorant and the stuffuu they had didn’t work. I didn’t ask, she overheard me and another client talking. She brought him some clothing and a notebook. This place has amazing staff.
