They are the best at what they do . The Therapists have made a huge difference in my life, Paula has been a God send. She has helped me find myself and what is causing my addiction. The other therapists are kind and compassionate as well . The office staff is always accessible and they are very supportive Lee Anne is one of the best facilitators I have ever known Mauti & Gigi take care of our medical needs to sum this up I’d say that everyone at Aurora Charter Oak mean what they say and say what they mean. I would highly recommend Aurora Charter Oak to everyone and I don’t say that very often. I’ve been wanting to update my latest review this Is something I seldom do. I’ve been wanting to say for awhile, it occurs to me that there’s so many people that need help but just can’t make the decision to go and get help. Those are the people I hope to reach out to today when I first started here I came kicking and screaming I refused to admit I even had a problem, and that was was my biggest problem. So instead of having my wife of 26 years leave me I told myself let’s do this because who knows maybe it’ll help. I am so glad I did. When you are ready please,please go give it some time like I did the therapists are awesome I’ve been lucky enough to get to know a few of these dedicated individuals who are lifesavers,take my group therapist Paula she is an absolute Godsend I didn’t realize I had the problems I have I was just feeling so down so hurt and I didn’t know or care why I was close to checking out if it wasn’t for Paula I’d be in the ground I know this is not your usual situation but Paula is both professional and personable she treats people with so much respect but doesn’t candy coat the issues that put most people here that begin with. Paula IS the real deal. All the people at Aurora are the best in their fields I rant and rave about Paula because she flat out saved my life and I will always have the utmost respect for her. I've been to two different rehabs before this one (one being a well-known, Nationwide facility) and this is by far the superior institution. They have several different levels of care to assist in every stage of the rehabilitation process. The detox was smooth and cautious; I felt extremely safe and comfortable. The group sessions are gentle and inviting, to let clients know that they are in capable hands and an accepting environment. The therapy sessions dive deep into the mental health issues that lead to addiction. The staff is professional when they need to be, but also speak to clients like they are real people and not just another patient. The homey atmosphere (as opposed to a hospital setting) makes the experience both realistic and comforting. The way it's ran shows clients that they can live a normal, sober life. It impacts their recovery journey by letting clients set attainable daily and long-term goals. The staff empowers each client to know they have the strength to pursue these goals, with the help from them and then eventually on their own. However, I do feel that there is an important issue that needs to be addressed regarding medications at discharge. Before leaving, I was specifically told that all of my medications would be going home with me. I understood that to mean exactly that—all medications I had been prescribed and paid for would be included in my discharge medications. When I got home and realized that one of my medications was missing, I called the facility to ask about it. I was then told that I “didn’t need” the medication. My concern is that I had already been told I would be taking all of my medications home, and I had also paid for the medication. Even if they felt I didn’t currently need it, there was still a possibility that I could run into a situation where I might need it, which is exactly why I was concerned about not having it available. I understand that medical professionals may make decisions about what medications are necessary, but if a medication has been prescribed, paid for, and the patient has been specifically told that it will be sent home with them, I feel there should be clear communication about any changes before discharge. I shouldn’t have had to get home, discover that something was missing, and then call to find out why. This is not meant to take away from the positive aspects of my experience. I’m thankful for the care and support I received, but I do believe the discharge medication process could be handled much better. Clear communication and making sure patients receive what they were told they would receive would make the transition home much less stressful. They also provide you with a personalized medication regimen which alleviates the stressors of depression, anxiety, sleep problems, etc. that typically present themselves during treatment. Three meals are provided a day and snacks are always readily available. The only area that could use some work is the organization of phone time and med pass around the daily schedules. Overall, there’s always healthy and productive activities to do at this facility, and I finished my experience feeling much more clear minded and hopeful for my future outside of treatment.
