I had a car wreck in March and was driven to this "hospital" by my mother. We stayed from, like, 9:40pm to around 10-ish in the morning. It took hours to get anything done while I had 2 broken bones, and was told by the nurse to "give him a break" when he handed me a water and I asked if I was supposed to drink it. Apparently I was supposed to just know he had Tylenol in his hands that he hadn't yet given me.. give YOU a break? Aren't YOU getting paid to do this while I had just lost my first ever car due to a reckless driver.. why don't YOU give ME a break? It baffles me that people want to be nurses and doctors, but seem so bothered when patients need... medical care? Just pick another job if you're so miserable you can't even be a decent human being. I lost a lot that night, and none of the staff there made it any easier. Quite literally thank you for nothing, lol.

Not sure there could be a worse experience. Wife went to ED with chest pain. They ran some tests. Left her at radiology after her test for 20 minutes. Ran some more tests, which was fine. Then, randomly, some dude just pops into our room and tells us we have to go to this small waiting room. No other information. We go to leave and have been given no other direction. Wife still has an iv in. We are moved with 7 other patients as they cleared out their ED department. They were discussing patient information in this waiting room around other people. Whole experience was insanity. If you can drive out to ecu health in Greenville. This place is a joke.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Clients who receive cognitive behavioral therapy in North Carolina typically attend five to 20 sessions. During this time, they work with their therapist to learn healthier patterns of thinking, which can help them change their behavior related to substance use.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you reclaim your life after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Therapists help to process these memories, which promotes emotional healing and reduces anxiety in social situations. This improves your overall well being and increases your self confidence.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I visited the ER on 5-23-25 reluctantly but in dire need .I was very pleased with the services received except from an experience I had in Radiology. I communicated my concerns to the tech immediately due to the facial expressions aand other obvious signs of frustration she displayed. After I made her aware of my feelings , we talked openly and she appeared to have been surprised. Prior to my exit I felt we both understood each other's position. We both listened to each other which was extremely. important. The situation was settled with our conversation. I visited the ER again on 5-30 25 for the same situation. My overall experience was a 10/10. Staff were friendly, supportive and very easy to relate to. Actually even being in lots of pain , my experience was EXCELLENT! All of the staff were great. I especially enjoyed being treated by Glenda'. She does her job and keeps you engaged and laughing at the same time. I have no complaints. Was waited on and registered quickly. I was pleased with the amount of time I spent there additionally. Staff appeared very knowledgeable.

I visited UNC Wayne Emergency, and it was hands down the most unsanitary place I’ve ever been. From the moment I stepped into the waiting room, I was appalled by the conditions. Every corner was littered with crumbs, making it feel more like a neglected snack bar than a place meant for medical care. The floors were disgustingly dirty, covered in grime and dust that looked like it had been piling up for days.Nothing seemed to be cleaned—not a single surface was wiped down. The chairs and tables were sticky and coated in who-knows-what, making it unpleasant to even sit while waiting. To top it all off, I didn’t see a single janitor or cleaning staff member during my entire visit. It’s as if keeping the place sanitary isn’t even on their radar. If you’re expecting a clean and safe environment for emergency care, UNC Wayne Emergency is absolutely not the place to go.

I had surgery on October 22 2024. The nurse and anesthesiologist and everyone else was great. That kept in the loop about everything that was happening the whole time I was there. Thank you everyone
