About Alina Lodge

Located in Blairstown, New Jersey, Alina Lodge is a residential treatment facility for men and women. They offer detox treatment, gender specific residential care, and dual diagnosis treatment. The facility also provides a family treatment program and a chronic relapse treatment program.

A Flexible Timeline For Treatment

One of the things that makes this facility unique is that they offer a flexible timeline for their residential treatment program. You’ll have the option of participating in a 28 day program or a program that last up to three to five months if you need extra time to recover.

Experienced Professionals and Unique Therapy Options

With whichever option you choose, you’ll have access to a wide variety of experienced professionals who can help with your healing. These professionals include a 24 hour nursing department and certified nutritionists. Clients who are also struggling with eating disorders will have access to an eating disorder counselor.

Men and women will be in separate residential facilities so their specific needs can be better addressed. An additional thing that stood out to me about this location was the unique therapies offered. The staff offers specialized therapy groups for issues that can contribute to substance use such as relationship dependency, grief, and spirituality disorders.

Recovery Services for Dual Diagnosis

It’s common for individuals to have mental health disorders and substance use disorders occurring at the same time. Alina Lodge offers a dual diagnosis treatment program that will focus on treating both conditions at the same time.

This facility has received high ratings with an average of 4.6 out of 5 stars. One reviewer praised the staff for being patient and caring, and another reviewer that the facility was comfortable and clean.

Its been 3 weeks since I completed the 28 day program on (August 5, 2025) at Alina Lodge . From the moment I arrived (July 8, 2025)I felt comfortable and safe. THIS PLACE NOT ONLY SAVED MY LIFE IT ALSO BROUGHT LIFE BACK TO ME MENTALLY EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY! The program they have is great and I learned more and more about addiction but even more so about myself. The staff there are great , kind, loving amd compassionate. They are there to help and as long as you ask for that help you will get it . The environment was amazing given the space and time to recover and reflect on each group session. My favorite spot to sit and reflect was in the gazebo close the the river . The food was great each meal was also good and filling. Now at 48 days clean today 8/25/2025 i feel so great my life has improved dramatically! Thanks to the wrok i put it and the structure of Alina Lodge!!! I love you guys and thank you for helping me regain traction in my life I will be forever grateful! -Mike Liaci

If you are considering Alina Lodge for yourself or a loved one—please read. I had transferred to Alina from Highwatch. I was expecting a similar experience due to the recent acquisition of Alina by Highwatch. I was very wrong. It seems like they bought Alina and ran out of funding so they just left it to operate with no actual assistance financially or structurally. First of all, the facility looks like a cheap motel. The women’s dorm Is covered in cobwebs and dustballs and hasn’t been updated since the 1940s. My room had a broken toilet seat and smelled of moth balls. I was fortunate not to detox there. If I had gone to that detox I would have checked myself out. If you do me decide to ama you need to wait 96 hours. The detox unit is in the tiny dimly lit infirmary. Every single patient walks through there 3 times a day for meds, meaning there is no privacy. There are only two bathrooms. There is one common room which is cramped if there are more than 3 people and there is only one tv. I believe some of the rooms have tvs but they are old box tvs wirh only a few channels. There is one small table that detox eats meals at which is right in the middle of the infirmary. The line for meds goes right past it. There are no beds for anyone who isn’t in detox to lay down in. Just one loveseat. When I arrived the doctor who did my intake was coughing and I overheard the nurses saying how he was too sick to be at work and should have stayed home. He didn’t wear a mask and when I inquired about starting MAT he told me he “wasn’t going to deal with that”. The next day I had an awful cold but was only given ibuprofen. I filled out several request forms for MAT and this was never addressed. It seemed like there was no coordination to the schedules and they were just attempting to fill the day. All 3 meal times are either an hour or an hour and 15 minutes (I can’t remember) in which you must stay seated the whole time. None of the groups have any structure to them. It’s basically sit in a circle and read whatever the leader could come up with last minute and discuss. More often than not it was just a time to talk about your feelings. There was never a name to a group. It was just “bills group” or “Bernie’s group” etc. The “therapists” act as your therapist, your recovery coach, your family therapist, your treatment evaluator, and your aftercare specialist. The worst is Michelle. Everyone hopes not to get Michelle. She is “scatter brained”. She spends the entire therapy session talking about her self and how she understands addiction first hand because she has an estranged family member that she financially enables who is an addict. She does not have a single valuable piece of input and 75% of the meetings with her are therapy for her. Anything you ask her to do she will have forgotten within 10 minutes. Being a prior patient at both a state funded rehabilitation center and Highwatch, I would choose either in a heartbeat. This facility is not equipped to handle anyone with any medical needs. Several patients that complete the program are readmitted within two weeks. If you are considering Alina lodge for yourself or a family member, I suggest you to find somewhere else. If you are paying out of pocket, I beg you to find somewhere else! Alina lodge does not care about you nor do they care about your recovery.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Detox is the process of allowing the body to rid itself of alcohol or other drugs while managing the symptoms withdrawal in a medically supervised setting. Alina Lodge has its own detoxification Unit consisting of 10 beds. The length of detox is determined by the amount of substance being used and the length of time a person has been using that substance. It is assessed on a case to case basis. Other factors include a person's age and health.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New Jersey typically follows a set structure of treatment. The therapist helps clients identify their life challenges and their thoughts surrounding those challenges. The client then learns to identify unhealthy thought patterns and reshape those into healthy patterns of thinking and behavior.

Dialectical means opposing. The premise of dialectical behavior therapy is to learn how two things that seem to be opposite can actually be true. You learn how to accept yourself while also making changes. The focus is on accepting your emotions and changing how you manage them.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Most experts in couples therapy are trained in several modes of treatment. This allows your therapist to draw from various techniques to personalize your therapy for your needs. This may include cognitive, emotional, and behavioral methods, which are all designed to help you strengthen your relationship.

The residential Family Program is available to immediate family members over the age of 13. Participants are involved in a structured program which includes educational presentations concerning the disease of alcoholism; support and understanding gained in small group discussion; individual conference time designed to address personal issues; and an introduction to Al-Anon family groups which are recommended for continuing support. They strongly encourage families to participate in the family program.

Nutrition therapy is more than a simple meal plan during rehab. It's designed to facilitate a faster recovery by giving your body the nutrients it needs to heal. It aids in strengthening your systems and giving you the energy you need for daily functioning and success in other therapies.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

To say I am grateful for Alina Lodge is a true understatement. This was the first rehab I completed. Everything about this place was 5 stars. If there was an issue, it was promptly addressed and resolved. I stayed for the full 28 days and received so much love and care as well as very helpful and informative classes, groups, counseling, therapy, grief therapy and more. The staff are truly there to help each guest and not just there for a paycheck like many other places I have been to and heard about. Of course there is always going to be something that us addicts will find wrong and complain about, but in all honesty, this place has something really wonderful going for it. It is a very special place. Just passing through the gates on the first day, I knew that I would receive the help I was so desperate to receive, and I did. I recommend Alina Lodge to anyone who is truly serious about their recovery. Like anything in life, what you put into it is what you will get from it. Thank you Alina Lodge! I am forever grateful.

Response from the owner
Bruce,

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt words. We are truly honored to have been part of your recovery journey and deeply moved by your reflections on your time at Alina Lodge. Your recognition of our staff and the care they provide means the world to us -- our entire team is committed to supporting every individual with compassion, respect, and purpose.

It's inspiring to hear how much you took away from the experience, and we're so proud of the courage and commitment you brought into the process. As you beautifully put it, what you put into it is what you get from it -- and you clearly put your heart into your healing.

We're grateful to have walked alongside you during this chapter and are wishing you continued strength, health, and happiness on your path forward. You'll always be part of the Alina Lodge family.

With gratitude,
