Horrible Inpatient facility. Standard of care is very low. My Dad was transferred here from IRU. I'm not sure how they haven't lost accreditation by the Joint commissions. They don't offer patient centered care, they don't have a clear understanding of continuity of care, infection control (no clue) medication management or ways to prevent medical errors. His whole visit was a medical error. He ended up being here for one week. I dont recommend this facility to anyone you love. don't look at the newness - of the facility, its truly a misrepresentation of its patient care.

I went to Bridgeport hospital 2 years ago , the experience was very bad in terms of waiting period. We waited for over 4 hour to be seen. Today I went with a friend , we waited from 11am until 2:19 pm and was still not seen. At 12:30 we were told there was 6 people ahead of us and at 1:33 pm we were told there was 5 people still ahead of us.,I guess it’s one patient per hour.. we left the hospital at 2:30 pm without been seen.. worse than a 3 rd world country. Very poor. Something need to be done .. 40 patients still waiting..A nurse told me there is a 12-14 hours wait, so we left.,, this is not acceptable to American Citizens who work hard and pay taxes.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Connecticut provides the professional support that is often necessary to break free from drug dependency. With proper treatment, individuals can make changes that restore balance and health to their lives and achieve long-term recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

They took great care of me, I was so happy with them! They’re very patient and willing to make each patient feel the best through this process. They went over everything before I accepted it so that we were all on the same page. After I finished my program, I got a card wi ... Read More

I don’t know where to start actually for starters my fiancé been coming to this hospital for years and he has never in a million years dealt with the incompetence, staff dealing with patients so poorly let’s not to mention being highly rude to me mind you I’m a New York native .Foy anyone to treat me like this goes to show our country is going into shit I pray they fix the administration in Bridgeport hospital pronto before another individual go thru the same thing I did. Not to mention they don’t even care to check on the patients make you wait hourly to even get a result this outrageous I don’t even recommend this hospital to my worst enemy never AGAIN!!!

I went to Bridgeport Hospital ER today. I was greeted with kindness and taken care of with care and respect. I was treated like a human being instead of a bill. I was so grateful to not only be treated well. But the hospital was extremely clean. I watched the cleaning lady clean down the chairs. Definitely 💯

If I could give zero Stars I would. I brought my dad there on the direction of his cardiologist to get a pacemaker put in and 2 days in when they did the pacemaker surgery they also created trauma to my dad's bladder. He bled so bad that they had to give him a blood transfusion and to top it off they wanted to release him and he couldn't walk. The doctor was shocked when I let him talk and he said oh we're going to release your dad and I said Doctor don't you realize that my dad can't walk . The nurses and so-called doctors on the 9th floor are horrible. The doctors that are doing their rounds come in and check the patients with their stethoscope and they'll ask the same questions everyday and none of them look on the patient's chart to see what is exactly going on with the patient. It's so ridiculous and the nurses and aides could care less about the patients. If they need anything. You can hit that call button all you want and if you're not there for your loved one, your loved one will be neglected! A word of warning. Please go elsewhere for care

This is regarding the ER lobby. I had a horrible experience!!!!!!! Do not waste your time. Wait time online said 1 hr 20 min. I walked in at 2:30 pm didn’t get called in till 10 pm. I am pregnant on my second trimester. I got so sick at one point in the lobby I was drenched in sweat and vomiting then had extreme chills. I had asked Maddie at check in if I could please get a blanket. She said no. That was it. Meanwhile there are three people around me with blankets. Another nurse in the lobby tried to say it’s because they came in ambulance but they all came in with me. This is my first pregnancy and extremely disappointed with how I was treated in the lobby. No empathy or care at all. Once I was in the ER room the nurses and Dr were extremely caring and shocked at how they treated me in the lobby. Darn shame to pay so much for insurance and get treated this way.

It’s beyond filthy! All bathrooms inside of the ED looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The staff was nice until I mentioned how dirty it was. At that point they became rude and confrontational. The ED was overcrowded with staff more concerned with sitting and talking to each other rather than doing their jobs. Their pure laziness lead to unnecessarily long wait times. If you’re able to choose where you receive care then I recommend anywhere else but Bridgeport Hospital.
