The psych unit at this hospital is a joke. If you re not talking to some imaginary thing or acting like an adult child they don t want to help you and they dismiss how you are feeling. They pick and choose who they favor over others and the social workers have no compassion at all. If your loved one is in crisis DO NOT go here. If you have the means go to a private facility. If I could give 0 stars I would

My 96 year old mom came in to ER from a rehab facility in extremely critical condition. She was non responsive nearly catatonic, her vitals were tanking in the ambulance. I was told she was in the trauma room withER Dr. Maziel and would get an update from him asap. I called my family to explain what was happening and to make arrangements to come. My two sisters who live locally arrived. Dr. Maziel told us how grave my mother s condition is considering her age and so many issues. I asked him to review her case because even with all of her issues she was living with me and enjoyed a relatively healthy life. He promised he would and clearly he did. When we were brought into my mom s room in the ER, we were greeted with a smiling coherent mom looking better than her entire time in the rehab facility. Dr. Maziel quickly figured out she was dangerously dehydrated with an extremely low protein level and dangerously malnourished.Dr. Maziel saved my almost 97 year old mom s life in the BPT. ER on March 4. 2025 and my family is immensely grateful.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Connecticut provides the professional support that is often necessary to break free from drug dependency. With proper treatment, individuals can make changes that restore balance and health to their lives and achieve long-term recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

They took great care of me, I was so happy with them! They’re very patient and willing to make each patient feel the best through this process. They went over everything before I accepted it so that we were all on the same page. After I finished my program, I got a card wi ... Read More

After 3 tries with neighborhood Hospital in Derby.. I was finally sent to Yale New Haven Burn Center.. because 3rd Dr was concerened about acceleration of burn. Burn Center did intake and immediately saw a Dr, then a surgeon who highly suggested a graft, if possible. Would was too deep for permanent and given temporary. Last night, Tuesday I had second surgery for permanent. Today Wednesday, I am home recovering with full support, ability to walk. All the staff was amazing.. but have to give the whole nursing staff 100 stars out of 10.. simply AWESOME Physical/Occupational Therapy is in a world of their own and can take your stress and put a huge smile on face.. letting you know.. everything is alright Regards to All Sir Tim, the man who needs to be schooled on microwaving Raman

Experience at this hospital was deeply disappointing, marked by a lack of accountability at nearly every level from admission through patient care. The ED was particularly concerning. In a life and death trauma situation, there was no clear process for documenting or safeguarding the personal belongings, leaving vulnerable individuals without proper advocacy. Equally troubling was the apparent absent of physicians during critical moments. APRN’s seemed to be the primary decision-makers, with maybe doctors consulted by phone. This approach felt more like guesswork which was distressing for me during such a critical time. It was an incredibly distressing experience and to make matters worse, the chaplain informed me his spirit had already left implying that continuing chest compression would have been futile.

This has been the worst hospital visit ever I’ve been ignored unheard ask to speak with somebody who might listen and nobody’s come so I’m trying to figure out. Does that mean I should just go home or will my insurance deny it since nobody talking to me here, my insurance company next

If your child is in need of any psychiatric help take them somewhere else!! Took my cousin here and we’ve been sitting in a hallway all night. The “nurse” that’s been sitting here was talking about patients all morning, meanwhile there are new patients still sitting in the hall. Absolutely unprofessional. Aileen De la Cruz is the nurse that was blatantly talking about patients and was rude to me earlier today. Do better and hire better people that care for patients and doesn’t just talk bad about them in front of patients!!! Very frustrating. The “team” that is supposed to speak to my cousin has yet to arrive. Absolutely no urgency here.

Your negligence and refusal to help a mother with a sick child caused the death of that child who later died after you dismissed her and sent her home. Disgusting isn't a strong enough word, I hope everyone staff member who dropped that ball gets fired and blacklisted.
