About Citrus Health Network, Inc.

The crisis stabilization unit offers short term care for mental health stabilization. You’ll have case management for ongoing support. A case manager works with you if you have a persistent mental health challenge and will develop a personal plan of care that includes coordinating your services.

If you’re 18 and older with a substance use disorder, you’ll attend the HOPE Program. This program will help you reduce your chemical dependency and achieve sobriety. You’ll receive medication assisted treatment (MAT) if necessary. You’ll have an assessment followed by an individual treatment plan. Substance use disorder treatment includes group therapy, individual therapy, health education and primary care services.

You’ll be seen by licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, mental health counselors and clinical social workers. Counseling is important to your substance use treatment because many people with substance use disorder also have co-occurring mental health disorders. A few examples of co-occurring disorders are anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. Substance use is often a result of untreated co-occurring mental health disorders.

Once stabilized, you’ll be in an outpatient program. The outpatient service hours for the 20th Avenue location are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

telehealth iconTelehealth

Telehealth offers many benefits for Florida residents. It lets you see your healthcare provider from anywhere. This saves time because you don't have to travel to a doctor's office or take time off work to get there. It also provides more options, because you can choose health care specialists who are located far from you.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

When a person has alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism or alcohol addiction, they experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop drinking. This physical dependence results from overuse of alcohol, which may be used as a coping mechanism or escape. Individuals who have AUD can overcome the alcohol addiction through alcohol rehab in Florida. This treatment process involves essential therapy and supports to help the individual achieve and maintain recovery.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

In Florida, substance abuse treatment focuses on treating mental health and substance use disorders concurrently to improve recovery outcomes and overall health. Levels of care include medical detox, outpatient, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programs. Clinicians utilize evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) or medication-assisted treatment, group therapy, and skills training activities. This comprehensive approach to treatment helps to ensure sustained recovery.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image

Child Program

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image

HIV/AIDS Program

HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is horrible. They do not care about you or your well being. Horrible experience with doctor Delgado. They are not fit to deal with mentally disabled people and it shows. They refused to give me my refill even though i have been taking the SAME medication for over TWO YEARS just because i missed ONE appointment for the first time in years. Even when i asked to reschedule it they didn't have anything available for weeks. I had to experience withdrawal pains and in the end i ended up making an appointment with a different private psychiatrist that isn't from Citrus. Do not put yourself or your child in this situation. Go look for another place. I will never come back here.

I wasn't that satisfied with my experience at Citrus. The only reason that I tried coming here was to try to get an individual therapist for my daughter. We saw a psychiatrist and then he referred us to Citrus Embrace that works alongside FIU. It's hard to reach their office to speak with anyone and even then, the next part in the process was to see a psychiatrist at this different office so that we can finally be referred to a therapist. There's too many unnecessary parts of the process just to have my daughter finally assigned with a therapist. At first, I was scared coming here because I saw people that looked either homeless or very low-income coming here and showing up as patients. The wait time was not terrible (roughly 45 minutes as a walk-in) and my daughter saw Dr. Marcos Cintron. He gave helpful suggestions as a psychiatrist and I believe that professionally, he was giving his all to help our case. He was knowledgeable, helpful and compassionate as a doctor should be. I've been to other doctors that are either nice but not knowledgeable or mean but knowledgeable. But I would say he is a good blend of qualities needed for a child psychiatrist.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointed with the care at this center. On weekends, there are no psychiatrists available—only a counselor—and important decisions are made without notifying the family. Transfers happen with no warning, there’s a complete lack of empathy, and the attention is totally impersonal. You can’t treat mental health this way. I truly miss the days when real professionals like Dr. Marcos Cintrón were around. What they’re doing now is inhumane.

— I was there for 8 days because my dad was caught for prostitution so I placed it under an account on social medial with no followers and the next day I was withheld by police with a judge order for a baker act and later a proxy— — I’m still attempting to find out (of which I hope by May 28th I have complete record of) who the judge was, the psychiatrist, full documentation, etc because my parents refuse to inform me— — During my stay I heard some strange noises from women having sexual activities with men such as grinding and moaning, but it’s unconfirmed on my behalf because I didn’t see them and the water was sealed but it made me drowsy and almost knocked out so I spit it back out— — Today is Saturday 2:27 PM June 8th, 2025 and I have an appt with this mental health location to get an abilify injection for schizoeffective disorder which is what I heard I’ve been diagnosed with and to this day after waiting 4 to 5 weeks for record of stated above info they still haven’t sent it via e-mail as stated on that date with the worker at the reception— — I’ve heard some quite disturbing comments about psychiatric hospitals so if I risk my life tomorrow by going there because my mom is forcing me to then be sure to let this be a confession before the fact. Recently I’ve been taking three medications Dyphrenhydramine, Divalproex, and Haloperidol for one month which resulted one last day in me spending the whole night awake for 48 hours with cardiac arrest, blood clots, acceleration, and more resulting in my nose to break out as if it was a laced drug— — Unfortunaly my mother has the medication and I did call the police who did not help, texted my mother about it, and still she wants me to present myself including that she saw me and commenting herself what was wrong with me so she’s a witness— — I hope this helps and I don’t get “abducted” by the psychiatric hospital (joking) or drugged again and I make this comment based on the factor of experience commented above— — To end this, the psychiatric hospital concluded I was schizoeffective based on the altered documentation from Serenity medical office Ania Molina psychiatrist that I was schizoeffective when I only replied to her when asked I had sexual OCD and depression and was medicating me with my parents behind my back and probably a doctor from Cuba named Teresa Perez Anaya psychiatric medication and that I had previously been to another psychiatric mental health location called Banyan for being hacked and they called it schizophrenia so apparently psychiatric institutions gather up to collude somehow, someway but that’s just my opinion because something is happening with my case— — I have never EVER stated which type of hacking to Banyan which I said was my computer and my cell phone or something to that matter and in 2016 or so that’s normal even after Y2K in 2000– — Today I went to the Citrus health appt that resulted in an injection in addition to an appt with a psychiatrist and forgot the medical records so I am going back hopefully they won’t put me back in there because every time you go it’s a risk. For example, she made notice today that I needed to be picked up simply because I didn’t like that my mother touched my back and tapped a click with a number in record so be careful of how you treat this situation because basically they wanted to know if it’s familial issues or what was the reason for the intake of patient made by parent from a sketchy psychiatric hospital. Now that they know what is going on be careful— — I won’t even hesitate to go back to the medication laced with a heavy drug I took that I’ll never take again or any drug from them except an injection up to know. Check the screenshots out from me and my mom. My mom has the rest of them in her purse and I hope she’s convinced to test them out to see what they have.— That was my experience, Ana Blanco

I had an extremely disturbing experience with Citrus Health Network during a supervised child visitation. A clinician affiliated with their organization observed me via FaceTime without my knowledge or consent, and no consent form was ever provided or signed. I was only told at the last second — after I had already approached my children — that someone would be “watching.” When I contacted Citrus about the violation, they didn’t take accountability. Instead, they attempted to justify the incident without offering proof or even acknowledging how serious it was. This was humiliating, deeply unprofessional, and a total breach of trust. Citrus has failed to explain how this happened, failed to show any consent documentation, and failed to prevent it from happening again. I strongly urge anyone dealing with this organization to be extremely cautious and to demand full transparency up front.
