Dear Chase,
We are very sorry to read your review and want to extend our condolences on the loss of your loved one. At Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, we take every concern seriously and strive to respond quickly to the needs of both residents and families. In this case, when requests were made for a different bed and room, our team worked promptly to make those changes and ensure comfort.

We also recognize that transitions to long-term care can be challenging, and our staff spent considerable time working closely with the family to resolve concerns. While we regret that this experience left you feeling dissatisfied, please know that compassionate care and responsiveness remain our highest priorities.

We welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and encourage you to reach out to our Administrator at your convenience so we can listen and address any remaining concerns. Sincerely, your Delmar Gardens of Lenexa family

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Wonderfully efficient nursing staff and social workers. Glaringly awful, by contrast, is the slop they call food! I have reported it to the ombudsmen, in fact. I doubt my dogs would have eaten what they dump on the plates and heat up halfway, by microwave!! Unfortunately, most patients by the time they are 70 do not seem to know how to advocate for themselves! Nor do their exhausted family members. The phone numbers for advocating are posted all over every care institution in the country folks and I have found helpful, caring people who are happy to get calls that speak volumes for the voiceless. You need not worry about personal retribution for making a report.

Response from the owner
Dear Dee,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re happy to hear you found our nursing staff and social workers wonderfully efficient, and we truly appreciate your recognition of their hard work.

We’re sorry to learn that the dining experience did not meet expectations. Our goal is to provide meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable, and we do offer alternate menu options for residents, including modified textures when needed. We understand that personal preferences and dietary requirements, such as diabetic meals, are very important, and our team works hard to accommodate them.

Our records show that alternate menus were discussed in detail and that meals were being consumed well overall. Still, we take all concerns seriously and know there is always room to improve. Your feedback has been shared with our dietary and leadership teams to ensure continued focus on quality and satisfaction.

Sincerely,
Your Delmar Gardens of Lenexa family

Dishonest admissions. Suggest private room when evaluating options and then try to put a roommate in after they have the patient committed. Patient had to move rooms from original room due to smoke coming into her room from smokers outside. First having smoke come into the room is against chapter 39 which calls for through the state statute a smoke free environment for any of all visitors that stay within the facility. Secondly, because we were not happy with the environment that is not smoke-free we asked to move her room. Once we moved her room due to it, not being a smoke free environment. We were told then that she would be getting a roommate. Again, we are being penalized for questioning the fact that the room in which she was originally assigned is not in compliance with state statute and was not smoke free. The lesson here is don’t believe what they tell you. Don’t expect a smoke free environment and certainly don’t expect for them not to push a roommate on They have a chance. In addition, if you don’t have a family member willing to be on the phone and advocating for the patient that is put into this facility on a daily basis. Your patient will likely have a very difficult time getting anything that they need in a timely manner.

Response from the owner
Dear Matt,
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We understand how important it is for families to feel confident in the care their loved ones receive.

When the original room assignment was found to be unsatisfactory due to its proximity to the designated outdoor smoking area, our team responded promptly and relocated the resident to a more suitable room. We take all environmental concerns seriously and work hard to accommodate requests when possible.

Regarding room arrangements, it’s important to note that the resident is here under a skilled nursing stay, and insurance coverage includes a semi-private room. A private room was offered as an option, but the family declined to pay the additional cost. While we always try to meet family preferences, we must also adhere to policy, coverage limitations, and fairness in room assignments for all residents.

We remain committed to providing quality care and open communication, and we welcome the opportunity to continue addressing concerns through appropriate channels, including scheduled care plan meetings. Sincerely, your Delmar Gardens of Lenexa family
