About The Bluffs Addiction Campus

One thing that stands out to me about their program is their long term rehab. The purpose of this is to ensure that you are treating your addiction on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. They’ve also got a holistic approach to help make sure you don’t relapse. In the long term rehab program, you’ll get to engage in different treatment options such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and find ways to manage your stress

This program also offers additional services to continue focusing on the person as a whole with an emphasis on physical wellbeing. You’ll get the chance to engage in massage therapy, meditative therapy, and music therapy. This’ll allow you to find interests and coping skills in different areas of life.

This is a wonderful facility! The staff was incredible, since most employees had their own experiences with addiction, wether they themselves were recovered or knew someone who struggled with addiction. Everyone was very personable and made my time at the Bluffs comfortable, even enjoyable which I never would’ve imagined myself thinking before coming. I was very nervous coming in, but I’m glad I chose The Bluffs my first time in an inpatient facility.

Amazing center, THE ABSOLUTE BEST STAFF, and has saved many lives. Going to treatment for the first time especially or to a new location can be scary, but you always leave this place with a family you didn't know you needed. I've never been sober a day in my life since the start of my addiction except for the times I've been incarcerated. Today I have over 5 months thanks to them. JUST MAKE THE CALL. Lots of love 🖤

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs offer robust wraparound care for clients who are stepping down from intensive inpatient care, with many facilities providing multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living/halfway housing, and standard outpatient programming. Clients may also elect to enroll in outpatient care immediately after completing inpatient detox. Those who are at lower risk of withdrawal complications may also choose to receive ambulatory medical detox from an outpatient facility. Outpatient programs typically involve addiction counseling, recovery education, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as art and music therapy, are commonly available.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-step icon12-Step

Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy in Ohio is a hands on intervention method that focuses on doing and feeling. The method is client centered and tailored to the individual's interests. It may include drama therapy, animal assisted therapy, martial arts, or wilderness therapy.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

With trauma therapy, you can reclaim your life after witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Therapists help you process the memories, which promotes emotional healing and enables you to build resilience to navigate future challenges and triggers.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

So all I can say about the Bluffs is this. Are you looking to get your life back on track? Are you ready to meet some people who actually care about helping you? Then don’t wait any longer. Make that call for your future today. My experience was way more than I could have even imagined. I am sober. I am home. I am happy. Happier than I have been in years. This was the best decision of my life. The entire staff was so helpful with everything. I look forward to returning one day to share my experience with those trying to get better.

Response from the owner
We really appreciate your thoughtful review, Mark. Hearing that your experience went beyond what you imagined and that you’re now sober, happy, and hopeful is inspiring. We’re so proud of you and excited for all that’s ahead.

Finding The Bluffs addiction campus, in Ohio, was God doing for me what I couldn’t do for myself. I’m from Texas. I knew I needed help, so I called a number someone gave me. They put me in touch with the Bluffs and I was on a plane a day later. Being there changed my life in every way. Being a long time, heavy drinker was destroying my relationships, putting my career in danger and negatively effecting my health. I was in pretty bad shape upon arrival, coming off a bad bender. The entire staff was very compassionate and caring. A lot of them had been where I was. I spent 30 days there. There were excellent nurses keeping up with my health. Wonderful, caring therapists and counselors around and available, pretty much, 24 hours a day. The accommodations were comfortable and the food was great. I started there around 106 days ago and I’m still going strong and sober. Their care didn’t end when I walked out the door. After care was arranged and there are staff members who check up on me and make sure if I need help, I can readily get it. No need, so far, but nice to know they are there. I met people I still keep up with and exchange encouragement and hope. I highly recommend this place, if anyone is struggling with life controlling addiction. As I said, it changed my life. It changed my wife and family’s life as well.

Response from the owner
Thank you, Matt, for such a heartfelt review. We’re so glad you found compassion, care, and guidance during your stay and that you continue to carry those tools forward. Congratulations on your 106 (112 today!) days of sobriety—we’re proud to have been part of your journey, we're also proud of you, and we’ll be cheering you on as you keep moving forward.

Program was a success without a doubt. Thanks to that program and the knowledgeable, empathetic, and professional staff, I received the help I needed and I am currently 107 days sober. I haven't went more than a week without drinking in 20 years until I visited the Bluffs so apparently it made a huge difference. The staff having a great sense of humor was huge to me in situations that were so serious for myself and for many others. It was a breathe of fresh air. Meditation, EMDR, and support groups were critical in my recovery. Not to mention, somehow they made it fun with Karaoke, nature hikes, disc golf, art courses, ping pong, and trivia. Keep in mind. If you go there, it's not because you're a failure or damaged. It's just a reset. There's always hope. You've got this! Would highly recommend.

Response from the owner
Thank you, Jason, for your kind words. Congratulations on reaching 107 days sober, we’re so proud of you. It’s inspiring to hear how the program, staff, and activities gave you both the tools and the encouragement you needed. Stay strong. We’re cheering you on as you continue forward in your recovery.

Does anyone else have a very hard time getting ahold of their loved one in this facility? My loved one..has been there for 8 days, I’ve spoken to him a couple of times under a minute. I’ve had some huge issues come up while he’s been gone, but I have been waiting over their 7 day minimum, and I stressed that this is a tax issue that is incredibly detrimental to myself and also information only my loved one has. Understanding his recovery comes first, I requested a meeting with whoever his assigned person is, I think her name is Kaitlynn or Kailyn? I left a message with her, no response. Then I spoke with David, his counselor, who assured me he would help set up a meeting. Still no word. Left him two messages after something that he told me, which I think was meant to be helpful, scared the crap out of me.. no word. Decided to call the nursing station in hopes of just speaking to my husband after 8 days so he could give me guidance.. again.. no word. So, I understand this place is not just there from goodwill, it is a business… however… my husband has been to several facilities, and they all somehow figured out communication. This leads me to believe that this facility is somehow either very behind (check their website, no resources for loved ones, visiting hours, instructions on the protocol) This is the only facility I have ever HAD to leave a review for.. because there’s no other way, that I have seen, to get a response. That is terrifying. Sometimes people leave for rehab with things they have to come home to.. like sick kids, or federal taxes. Maybe you should think about a resource page for someone who is the caretaker after your facility gets its money.

Response from the owner
Amy, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear how difficult it has been for you to connect with your husband while he’s in treatment. We completely understand how stressful it must feel to have urgent matters at home and not be able to reach him when you need guidance.

Clear communication with loved ones is so important, and we regret that your experience has left you feeling unheard and unsupported. Your feedback is valuable, and we will be reviewing how we can improve communication and provide better resources for families who are walking through this process alongside their loved ones.

We know this journey can be just as hard on families as it is for those in treatment, and we want to acknowledge the strength it takes to support someone in recovery. We wish the very best for you and your husband as you both continue forward in this process.

Upon arrival at the bluffs I was nervous lost and afraid of what my life was coming to. I was greeted with a warm welcome by the staff and well as patients. They immediately started working with me to learn about addiction. The knowledge that I learned and the help I received was phenomenal. Today I am 197 days sober and life is a beautiful thing today. I’m still in contact with many other patients as well as staff as a part of my recovery! Without everyone that I met there who knows where I’d be right now. I’m very grateful for everyone there and everything I’ve learned.

Response from the owner
Thank you so much for your review, Troy! We’re so glad you felt welcomed and supported from day one. Watching people reconnect with themselves and their community is what it’s all about. Congratulations on 197 days (202 days today) that’s incredible! Keep going strong and thank you for letting us be part of your story.

The Bluffs saved my life—period. When I showed up here, I was numb. I couldn’t feel anything. I didn’t know who I was without drinking, and honestly? I didn’t even know if I wanted to find out. But something about this place cracked me open in the best possible way. The staff? Top-tier. Compassionate, real, and genuinely invested in your healing. Group therapy felt like the first time in forever that I could speak without being judged—and listen without feeling alone. I laughed, I cried (a lot), and I finally started to breathe again. This place isn’t a magic fix. It’s a beginning. A sacred pause to remember who you are underneath all the pain. And I’m so damn grateful I gave myself the chance to walk through those doors. If you’re thinking about it—do it. You deserve healing. You deserve peace. And The Bluffs might just be where you finally find it.

Response from the owner
Courtney, thank you for such a moving and honest message. We’re honored to have been part of your beginning and so grateful you chose to walk through those doors. Healing isn’t always easy, but your story is a beautiful reminder of what’s possible when we give ourselves the chance to try. Keep taking it one day at a time, you’re doing something truly powerful!
