It s takes a special talent to do what they do at true life care. It s not done in one day, it does take time. But they give you the tools to battle real life! It doesn t come easy you have to be willing to put in the work. But you feel so much better about yourself when you accomplish goals you set. Nothing I do today would be possible without correcting my mental health

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients who are exiting inpatient rehab, those who are experiencing crisis, and those who prefer to live at home while in treatment typically enroll in intensive inpatient programs (IOP). These programs feature frequent and robust care, generally requiring clients to participate in at least nine hours of care weekly, though many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 treatment hours per week. IOP services typically combine individual, group, and family counseling with recovery education and holistic therapies.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
A sober living home in New Jersey is for individuals who are recovering from alcohol and drug addiction issues. This type of halfway house residence is focused on helping individuals learn and apply the tools of recovery. The setting provides fellowship, support, and structure to prevent relapse. The homes are typically designed for either men or women, but some may offer space for women with their children.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New Jersey is more than a confrontational conversation. This organized effort is specific and goal-oriented. During the intervention, family members share specific examples of how the person’s addiction has impacted their lives and spell out what they will do if the individual does not get treatment. The intervention also presents a clear treatment plan, which typically involves input from intervention services.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don’t require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.
telehealth iconTelehealth
Telehealth is the use of digital communication technologies to access drug and mental care services remotely to manage your care with is common especially with the lower levels.

Treatments

New Jersey has a variety of dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs, including inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol rehabs, that recognize the unique needs of individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs typically employ evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused therapy, and art therapy to successfully address co-occurring disorders and support sustained recovery.

Mental health often overlooked, but it's a critical component of addiction treatment and recovery. Mental health disorders can significantly impact your quality of life, relationships, and ability to function on a daily basis. Mental health conditions - depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder - and addiction require specialized treatment just like any other physical illness. When people have a mental health disorder and an addiction simultaneously, dual diagnosis treatment is essential.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

At opioid rehab in New Jersey, patients receive individualized treatment that is adjusted to meet their needs as they progress toward recovery. Addiction specialists partner with each individual to tailor their treatment to address specific challenges that contribute to their addiction.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

True Life has been instrumental in me turning my life around. I was convinced that I would be stuck feeling the way I did forever. Coming here has taught me that doesn't have to be the case. The staff are all exemplary at their jobs, and really care about your well being. If you come here and are willing to get into the hard truths, there is nothing this team can't help you with. I know my journey with mental health is still ongoing, but I wouldn't have been able to be where I am or get where I'm going without their continued support.

I had attended other programs before for chronic mental health issues, but this one felt different. It stuck. The holistic wellness program broke up each day and the counselors truly care about their clients. It is not a single-modality program, so you have freedom to pick and choose to focus on what works for you or take a little of everything. For me, it was ACT, somatic work and psychospirituality. For others, it might be DBT, CBT, trauma-focused etc. The admissions team helped me figure out a financial plan to calm all my anxiety about out of pocket cost. They are truly there to help people, not take your money. I would recommend True Life Care to a loved one in need.

Loved my experience at True Life Care! I stayed in residential and made lasting connections with many of the people I met there and in group. They teach traditional therapy methods such as ACT and DBT as well as holistic methods including breathwork and hypnotherapy (might sound a bit intimidating but trust me it's life-changing). I especially loved working with Brittany who was my individual therapist she is absolutely amazing and truly cares about everyone in treatment. This place honestly saved my life and if you're on the fence I say try it out! Don't hold yourself back from getting the treatment that you deserve.

True Life has really helped me in many ways I cannot express. The holistic approaches, the group outings, the staff and the clients here. It’s has truly been one of a kind experience there and words cannot express my gratitude for staff and the people I met over here. Hypnotherapy, Reiki, breathwork, art therapy, music therapy, Muay Thai, Yoga and Dance. This place helped me my darkest of time and if you need to find a place and come here I would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat.

Facilitators are flexible, accommodating, patient, kind, resourceful, fair. Skills from many different theories (instead of just one) are taught. Everyone has a mutual respect for one another and it truly is a safe space. Grateful.

It was not only the excellent the treatment providers but the powerful groups and how well they were managed by staff. Every type of person was there and was welcome. We could all open up and finally be vulnerable in ways we kept to ourselves for who knows how long. There are people of all ages from right out of high school to senior level types. There’s always so much to learn by listening even if you don’t participate. Yes, the building needs to be larger as they must be known for success and it can get busy. If you are highly anxious around people they will provide alternatives specific to your needs. Too much goodness to right here. Just thank you all and a big shout out to the beautiful Courtney (inside and out). Her love for healing others shines beyond her body, I think of it as the size of her spirit. I see wonderful things for your future!

True Life Care: A Place Where Darkness Meets Light There are moments in life when you feel completely lost—like you’re drowning in your own mind, your own past, and the choices or pain that brought you to this point. When I arrived at True Life Care, I wasn’t just struggling—I was exhausted. Tired of trying. Tired of pretending. Tired of not knowing how to live with everything I was carrying. But this place… it didn’t try to fix me. It saw me. The real me. The broken pieces. The silent battles. The parts of me I had buried deep, hoping no one would ever notice—but silently begging someone would. From day one, the staff treated me like a human being, not a diagnosis. They didn’t just look at my symptoms—they listened to my story. And they didn’t flinch. Instead, they leaned in with empathy, patience, and wisdom. The therapists knew how to hold space for pain while gently guiding me through it. They helped me face the truths I was afraid to speak out loud. And for the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel shame—I felt understood. The group sessions weren’t just therapy—they were lifelines. Strangers became mirrors, reflecting the parts of ourselves we had forgotten or hidden. I cried with people I’d only just met. I laughed for the first time in what felt like years. And slowly, I began to believe that healing wasn’t just a word. It was a path I could walk. True Life Care gave me more than tools—they gave me hope. They reminded me that I am not my trauma. I am not my past. I am not my mistakes. I am human. And I am capable of beginning again. If you’re reading this and you feel like you’re at the end, I promise you: there is a place where your story matters. There is a place where healing is possible. For me, that place was True Life Care ⸻
