The office staff must be trained to be rude, condescending, and to have no compassion. (There will soon be a snarky, defensive comment from the office under this thread) Billing will take your money under the guise of having signed a release even though we discontinued services. The provider Carrie McKinney was great for our child. However, the office staff, including the billing person and office manager, make this practice not worth going to. Stear clear.
Update: I'm also realizing that half the office responses to low star reviews here on google, are a HIPPA violation. Their mentioning of symptoms and diagnoses or misdiagnoses and not meeting the requirements of the DSM and DSM-5, violates the persons protected health information. I suggest filing a suit if they have done this to you!
The administrator "asked" the office manager, Dee, to call me after reading my one star review. Dee stated "I don't recall ever breaking HIPPA with you." To which my reply was that I don't have to justify myself to her.
If my review was actually read, then it would be abundantly clear that she didn't get the point at all. This was a weak attempt at defending herself instead of admitting that she was part of the problem. Loss prevention, when it comes to clientele, is obviously not this companies forte.
I do, however, plan on sharing my recorded phonecalls on social media (Virginia is a one party consent state.) They will explain how this practice estimated a copay which I paid, then 3 months later was charged 208 for the insurance not having met the deductible. There was no courtesy call. But, they DO have the right to charge my card for unpaid balances. After accepting this loss, I expressed that we would no longer require services. To which she stated "I understand."
The billing specialist placed blamed on McKinney for making the appointment and then on me for not canceling. I'm quite sure that "not requiring your services" would be a hint there.
So, instead of canceling, they kept the appointment, and charged me for missing it. What's worse, my child that was in their care is on medicaid, so there would have been a $0.00 co-pay, and they still charged my card! So we will let the public make an informed decision on if this practice is worth the hassle.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We genuinely value feedback as it helps us improve our processes and patient experience.

We would like to respectfully clarify a few points:
First, signatures on office documents, including consent forms and financial agreements, are a standard and routine part of administrative processes in all healthcare offices. Signing these forms allows us to proceed with care and billing in accordance with regulatory guidelines and does not constitute an unusual or deceptive practice. Discontinuing service doesn't absolve you from paying debt you've accrued or standard missed appointment fees which are at the clinicians' discretion..

However, feeling disappointed with certain conversations does not mean the conversation was offensive, rude, or dismissive. Our team is committed to delivering information with professionalism and compassion, even when those conversations may be difficult to hear. As you're already aware, we have reversed the missed appointment fee as a courtesy to you.

We are pleased to hear that you had a positive experience with Carrie McKinney and appreciate your acknowledgment of her care.
