Don't come here for help. They make you wait hours while your condition worsens. An older woman who was sobbing for almost 2 hours ended up PASSING AWAY in the waiting room during our wait and we got called shortly after. I dont understand how this hospital is open with their terrible conditions.

Unfortunately many of the negative experiences here that others have shared has been mine and my family as well. My mother was brought here due to her suddenly becoming unresponsive while doing ministry at a local nursing home. She was unable to talk and was in and out of consciousness. She literally spent the night in ER due to no beds. I live 3.5 hours away I called to check on her several times initially it was ok but hard to get through suddenly evening came and I was rudely greeted and sent in circles by two different phone operators who were both disrespectful and rude. I’ll be here a very long time going through every situation but do know that while there were a couple of very helpful and kind nurses there was several that were absolutely not, and the lack of care and bedside mannerisms was terrible. An EEG was ordered Saturday upon my mother’s stay in ER and once I arrived I verified it and inquired several times why they haven’t come in yet she was finally admitted Sunday evening and we did not see an EEG specialist to perform until approx Wednesday. ( she arrived Saturday and it was ordered Saturday) since that time as of today we still have not seen anyone to actually read the report in full or have we seen a neurologists nor do we know any more information or have an idea of why she ended up in the hospital than we did back in ER. Because of her extreme stomach pain and concurrent vomiting we did finally get aGI doctor in after I asked numerous times to have one come in it was never a thought she might need one by any of the “professionals” whose care she was under to have one see about her abdomen pain, after over 48 hrs one came in and he ruled out any issues out of the ordinary although until this point they had been giving her stool softeners every day and anything else they tried did not work at all. Also this doctor was condescending and no proper bedside manner. Her ER doctor who had been handling her overall care Dr Wilson has been very lax and slow on everything with us, nurses reached out to no avail for things from meds to any answers on what is actually going on to why EEG has not been in. Everyone is “Busy” it is a hospital you should be, but this isn’t a great big grand hospital it’s relatively small so I’m baffled at why everything and everyone is very slow non empathetic, rude, condescending and just an overall lack of care. As of today no EEG no neurologists and no answers or even ideas as to why my mom is here in the first place. But at least they addressed finally after 5 days Her Gi issue no thanks to the GI doctor but to the GI surgeon. I absolutely would never recommend this place to anyone! if you can help it please go elsewhere. And make sure you stay with your loved ones and advocate for them strongly because here obviously everyone is just here for a paycheck. Signed ~still waiting 8 days later and counting.

Accepted Insurance

Cone Health Alamance Regional works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often used as a "step-down" option after you've completed a residential or inpatient program, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) typically involves a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for approximately 90 days. Programs offer structured programming that includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Insurance coverage for PHP treatment varies among insurance providers.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Individuals in early recovery often require 24-hour clinical care in North Carolina. This supervised care typically includes medications to treat specific withdrawal symptoms, which vary based on the substance abused. For example, staff may provide sleep aids to treat insomnia in patients who are addicted to marijuana. For those overcoming a cocaine use disorder, anti-depressants may be prescribed to manage mood swings. Other medications may also be provided to treat addiction-related health issues.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

North Carolina offers substance abuse treatment programs that provide a holistic and evidence-based approach. Through a comprehensive mental health assessment, addiction experts can provide an individualized care plan specific to your needs. You can expect most rehabs programs to provide individual and group therapy, recovery meetings, and evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Depending on your circumstances and severity of addiction, you may need more intensive care. Levels of care include outpatient, residential inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization. By choosing the right level of care, you're more likely to succeed in long-term recovery.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Clients who receive cognitive behavioral therapy in North Carolina typically attend five to 20 sessions. During this time, they work with their therapist to learn healthier patterns of thinking, which can help them change their behavior related to substance use.

Counseling that applies dialectical behavior therapy teaches you coping skills to apply to your daily life. The focus is on intense emotions and developing coping mechanisms to manage them. Therapy sessions are a series of teaching lessons that help you develop these coping skills.

Front desk is normally very nice but today they were obnoxiously rude. 5 stars for nurses and doctors though. My mom is sick and a bad attitude provided by the front desk thanks to Angela and another guy next to her with the most smuggliest attitude talked to me like I was five. No one had even told me my mom was put up in a room. She was taken back for x rays. When I went to the front desk I asked for an update and she didnt say hello. She just looked at me awkwardly and said "yes." I don't know what the problem is but nothing i said or did called for such a rude response.

The PT department, in particular Doctor Yeung, was instrumental in taking care of my bladder control as well as relief from the need for frequent bathroom visits with very specific exercises. In addition, she improved my posture and proper walking techniques as well as helping with exercise that gives relieve for my shoulder pain. The changes have truly been awesome and has improved my health.

The behavioral unit at this hospital is HORRIBLE! Do NOT consider this place for a loved one. It is like a prison! They say it is voluntary, but it absolutely is not! Once you are in, they will not let you out until they say you can leave. Not a healing environment at all! You have been warned!

I find it quote shocking that there are so many one star reviews. We had to take my child here after being directed to do so by urgent care. Every individual we encountered who took care of my child was friendly and pleasant. We also surprisingly had almost no wait on a Saturday around midday. The only thing that could have been more pleasant is having updates on when testing was to take place, as there were some longer waits for that. The hospital itself also appears to be in good repair, which is appreciated particularly when one is going through a difficult time. I wish their medical offerings were more extensive in terms of providing more pediatric care options.

I am beyond grateful for the amazing care I received at Cone Health Alamance Regional. From the moment I arrived for delivery through a long labor and a very scary complication, the nurses, doctors, and midwife cared for me with compassion and excellence. Their quick action saved my life and allowed me to come home safe and sound with my baby. Even after discharge, they continue to check on me weekly to make sure I’m okay, which shows how much they truly care about their patients. I will always be thankful for their dedication, kindness, and support during such a life-changing time. Thank you to everyone on the team for all you did for me and my family. God bless every single one of you.
