I have never experienced anything like it before. After reading the reviews. Its still the same lack of medical attention going on from the previous reviews. Yesterday 3/24/25, I left Cone Urgent Care to go straight to the Alamance emergency room. It's about 2/2:30. I get to the ER, and after an hour and a half, I go to the back, get my blood drawn, and BP checked. Then I was sent back to the lobby/waiting room! The next 5/6 hours, I'm still waiting. In time, and between times, those before me were seen and gone. Some of those after me had come and gone! So, I asked at the front desk, "Where am I next on the list?" She tells me there are a lot of others ahead of me.I'm like, how, everyone is gone and some of those after me! This was about 5pm. So I continued to wait. 7pm comes around, it is shift changing time. The new intake I asked her, she told me the samething after 2hrs later! 8pm I decided to leave!Add to the story. The earlier part of the wait, there were two Caucasian families of three people. An African American family of three came in. The registration (white) lady tells them that only one person can stay with the elderly man that's being seen! And one of them has to leave. Never once did she say anything to those other (white) families! So Im asking, does the DEI have anything to do with this? I think so!1/2 a star!UPDATE: 3/25/25I drove to Durham NC this morning. It's 8am at Durham Regional. 8:35 I have been registered in, 9:05 I am in the back getting bloodwork done, I've had an EKG, chest X-rays and an IV in my arm within a hours top!Thank you DUKE REGIONAL! 5

I had the best food I've had in a long time in their cafeteria. I don't know who they have back there cooking that food but they need a raise. That was the best peach cobbler I have ever had in my life. And I'm from NC. That's a big statement my friend. I'm 52 and I have to admit, it's better than mine I can't wait for another doctor appointment just to go get a plate to go.

I do not recommend coming here, ESPECIALLY if you have chronic pain or suffer from TMJD.I am not here to complain about wait times- I understand that there are life threatening emergencies and they can only do so much. But after waiting for 7 hours in excruciating pain, I was finally brought back and met with no compassion or empathy by my doctor. I had been in pain for months, went to different specialists and doctors with no relief from severe and constant pain. This was my last resort before I considered psychiatric care because I could no longer cope with living this way. Being met with such little compassion for my condition made it so much worse. I explained my history with trying to get treatment for this pain, and she immediately said Well there s nothing we can do for you. I begged and begged for her to do something- anything- and she finally agreed to at least do a CT scan. The technicians were so kind- the only people here who treated me like a human being. This doctor did not take me seriously, made me feel like a problem, and I ve been in pain for months now. She should have taken that seriously without me having to beg and beg for her to care or listen. She also recommended an ENT who didn t even treat my condition, so they couldn t help me either. Coming here was a waste of time and made me feel even more hopeless about my pain.

Cone Health Alamance Regional works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often used as a "step-down" option after you've completed a residential or inpatient program, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) typically involves a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for approximately 90 days. Programs offer structured programming that includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Insurance coverage for PHP treatment varies among insurance providers.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Individuals in early recovery often require 24-hour clinical care in North Carolina. This supervised care typically includes medications to treat specific withdrawal symptoms, which vary based on the substance abused. For example, staff may provide sleep aids to treat insomnia in patients who are addicted to marijuana. For those overcoming a cocaine use disorder, anti-depressants may be prescribed to manage mood swings. Other medications may also be provided to treat addiction-related health issues.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This place really pissed me off. First all the place is NOT clean and I repeat not clean. No type organization. The lady working at the registry was the only good person there. Then when they called me to the back the First Lady tried sticking me twice and said she could not find my vain. A guy came in there and didn’t even ask he just felt my arm and commenced to sticking me again. I told him that I did not want at this point I don’t want to get stuck again. Then he kept trying to move the needle around but was not successful. Then he said when I can try this further vain. I said no. Long story short I ended up leaving. Because I just have blood on Friday. Surgery two weeks ago. I was over it. If I can wait until my doctor return on Monday. I will do just that.

Very pleasant. I have been to the ER dept. in the past and have opted for other options because either being mistreated or long wait times. I can honestly say that has changed tremendously. I appreciate the staff and the support they showed. I felt more comfortable and everyone's bedside manners were manifique' (lol...in my Italian voice). 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

My husband woke up not feeling well with right sided abdominal pain. We went to the ER at 9am where he was sent right back to a room. The ER physician Dr Paduchowski was thorough and kept us informed. By 1pm he was in the OR to have his appendix removed and by 5pm he was home resting on our couch.

Myah Harrison, PA in the Emergency Department ( ER ) , has the absolute best attitude, bedside manner and personality of any ED provider that I have come across in many years. She shows genuine empathy and care for her patients and that is rare in this setting. If she ever switches over to Primary Care, I will be the first in line! I need someone to send her a Cheers and a High Five!

DO NOT go to this ER unless you want to sit in the waiting room for hours upon hours. I’ve had two family members go here. One with a severely broken arm who sat in the waiting room for 11 hours before she was seen. The second family member is very sick and dying of an illness and was in the waiting room for 10 hours and finally just walked out. While the second family member was there waiting, I called and spoke with a nurse trying to find out why the wait was so long. She replied well there are people who are sicker then your family member is. I asked her if she could please get her brought back to be taken care of because she had been waiting a really long time and was getting ready to walk out. The unkind nurse who acts like she doesn’t care about patients says to me, if she wants to leave, she can leave. This has got to be the WORST place to take a beloved family member. If I could score them lower then 1 star I would! I would not recommend this place to ANYONE!!

Waiting in emergency room well over an hour with my wife moaning in pain. Nurses at desk uncaring and combative. Training issues need to be addressed. Instead of making excuses try being understanding and actually try and help. Instead of saying everyone is busy and they will get to her when they can try something like I understand sir let me check and see if I can speed things up. Even if you lie to me make me think you are trying to help.

My daughter is in her first year of college. We were 6 hours away when we learned she was going to ER. We arrived in the early evening; it was a Thursday. My daughter went to the ER she was very ill. She said they got her back pretty quick. They gave her IV's and ran a few tests. She had 4 different issues going on. The final test could not be complete until after 9pm (she was too sick), this test confirmed they needed to admit her. The nurse in the ER, Thomas, was wonderful. He was busy with other patients, but he managed to make you feel like you were the only patient. (Thank you, Thomas!) Friday, my daughter was still weak. She was the youngest person on the floor. The staff learned that she was 19 and in her first year of college. First time away from home. I don't know if it was the pain meds or her youthfulness, but she said a couple of the nurses were like Disney Princess- they were kind and got the job done! She compared a CNA as a fairy godmother. She loved the staff. (she said they loved her too!) The doctor spoke with us every day, he was smart and kind. We went home Saturday to prepare to comeback and stay several days. My daughter recovered quickly, and we brought her home that Monday. The quality of care my daughter received was phenomenal. It is so difficult to see you daughter so sick, but to know she was recieving the best care meant so much to us. As someone who has worked for a hospital for several years, I am beyond impressed with Cone Health Alamance Regional! Thank you! Addie , Rhonda and Edward Malkowski.
