About Cobb County – Behavioral Health Crisis Center

Cobb County Behavioral Health Crisis Center is located in Marietta, Georgia. They offer crisis support and treatment for mental health conditions and drug rehab. This center is a part of the Department for Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division.

Dual diagnosis, which is often referred to as having co-occurring disorders, is when you have two or more mental health issues. It’s very common for those who struggle with addiction to also have an underlying mental health concern such as anxiety or depression. Without proper treatment of the mental health issue, getting and staying sober can be difficult. By getting treatment for both the substance use disorder and your mental health needs, you have a greater chance for long-term sobriety.

This facility provides dual diagnosis treatment in an inpatient setting. In this setting you’ll be living on campus while you undergo treatment. Your treatment can be short term or long term.

Highland Rivers was extremely helpful. Stacey was immensely helpful in making sure I was able to meet with the treatment team in a timely manner, and made sure I was taken care of throughout the process. Was it a five star resort? Not at all, but the fact that it was 100% taxpayer funded was extremely helpful. The last thing I would need when going through a crisis like that is to worry about getting slapped with a huge medical bill afterwards. So, with it being free, I definitely got my money s worth and then some!

Honestly this place saved my life. The people talking down on this place are expecting a 5 star breakfast in bed. If you come for the right reasons and use the recourses they have, this place can really save your life. If you are struggling with drug addiction or mental health, this is place is where to go. The people there are there for one reason, and it s to HELP YOU. It s completely state funded. I saw a review saying that he gives it 0 stars because he got there hungry and they didn t give him food right away.. if you want a better service, pay out of pocket and go to a private facility. I don t get how people talk down on a place that s there to help you, completely FREE. If you want to change you have to put effort from your part as well. Don t expect your life to change if you don t do anything on your end to try to change.

All of you that have complaints and grievances, there is a Governing Board Meeting and they are pre scheduled. There open to The Public by law.It is called The Highland Rivers Governing Board. Go tell these people who are using your Tax Dollars for This Company's Programs, about how these places are run, and how people and patients are treated. If you do nothing, things will never change. Make your voices heard. People treat you how you allow them too. Highland Rivers has a Monopoly on these Treatments, that is funded, with Tax payer funds, and Grants. Some of The people that work in these facilities are not held accountable by Higher Authorities. They use a big part of The funding on the staff that should hold these employees accountable, and they do not. It's job security for them, if they cared about people they would do their jobs, and make sure people and patients were treated fair, and decent. So do your research.Again it is called the Highland Rivers Governing Board, and by law They have to allow you to attend. You can even speak. You have that right and you have the right to set aside a time to speak. Contact them set it up.Know your rights. It's your tax dollars.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Georgia reduces the risks involved in detox and addiction treatment. Without access to professional medical care, individuals may experience withdrawal symptoms that become life threatening. For example, alcohol withdrawal can cause delirium tremens, confusion, and cardiac symptoms. Without medical supervision to step in, these symptoms could potentially turn fatal.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Many life skills involve coping with emotions and stress. Others involve completing tasks that allow you to live independently. Examples include finding a job, managing finances, and nutrition. During rehab in Georgia, you'll work on any skills that are lacking to ensure you have the tools for success post treatment.

Experiential therapy in Georgia focuses on subjective experiences. These experiences, such as art, music, animal care, or wilderness courses, evoke sensations and perceptions that allow you to process emotions, reflect, and achieve greater self awareness.

If there is zero star im gonna rate zero. They dont deserve any stars. Yesterday afternoon i had crisis again and my husband called their number and they said they have vacancy. So we went there 7pm and my husband pressed the button in reception area or waiting area and someone said need wait 7:30-8 coz next shift will arrive that time. There is 1 Patient also there with his mom and they arrived 5pm. So we waited till 8:00-8:30. And i need drink my medicine coz it was time already but i didnt eat dinner yet coz i was expecting im gonna go in around 7pm. I already get pissed and irritable as i was already hungry and need take my med and still noone came out to accomodate us. Since i was mad already, i did pressed the button and asked about if until what time we gonna wait before they gonna accomodate us and i asked for any food or snack so i can start drink med. The guy went out but he is not nurse nor clinician. Maybe just errand guy. He told us next shift will ne 11pm and he gave me snacks. We waited until 11pm inside the car but the guy patient was in the reception area told us that THERE’s nomore VACANCY. They are all liers there! I even have document already from same highland river (but was in cedartown) but noone wanted to receive us. They only accept patient so quickly if it’s coming from metro atlanta van for the patient. I want to return to cedartown but my husband wanted to bring me in cobb as a i have an appointment from the doctor in next building. Now im home. We just went home again last night. We were tired waiting

Worse than Paulding county jail. At least in that jail I had a remote, tablets, coffee, and commissary. Here they give you no access to change channels, wise food than jail, dues nothing for people who are suicidal with no drug issues. I received zero help only hell. I wish there was a better option than being made to feel wise than human when your already at your lowest. Only thing I learned is never speak up if I'm feeling suicidal.

Whoever manages the Cobb location, you need to keep in mind that people call you guys and they might be minutes away from ending their own life. I called and wanted to know if there were walk ins and I was met with passive aggression and robotic repetition by someone who sounded like they couldn’t care less. If you have no decency, you shouldn’t work as a call representative at a mental health clinic.
