This place is a horrible. The counselors have no idea what they are doing. It’s impossible to make a phone call, and they gaslight you into staying and will lie to your family members about how your stay is going ,persuading them into telling the staff for you to stay.. the food isn’t even edible… They let prisoners in that just need a place to stay (that end up fighting or intimidating other patients) and the nursing staff does not provide accurate care to the patients. Also be sure to not bring any belongings with you because staff will steal whatever you have during your stay. I will most definitely be contacting my lawyer in regards to the way this place is ran. DO NOT SEND A LOVED ONE HERE you will regret it. This place is a scam and will worsen your loved ones mental state.

Accepted Insurance

Discovery Institute – Marlboro New Jersey works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Discovery Institute opened a 16-bed halfway house for men. Men will find a safe, sober living environment as they build a strong recovery foundation, secure employment, and transition into life as a productive member of society. Through their stay in the halfway house the men attend 12-step recovery meetings, didactic lectures focus on living a drug and alcohol free life, as well as groups and individual therapy focused on maintaining a strong drug free lifestyle in an outpatient environment.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Opiate detox is very uncomfortable, but it is better managed and more successful with medical supervision. When treated by doctors, those who undergo opiate detox usually go on medications like non-narcotic pain relievers and blood pressure regulators to wean their bodies off of the opiate drugs in their systems. Through detox programs, like the ones at Discovery Institute, medical professionals can oversee the opiate detox process, ease symptoms, prescribe appropriate medications for pain relief, and provide all-around support for patients in recovery. Utilizing the support of medical professionals is highly recommended if you are looking to successfully complete an opiate detox.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

At Discovery Institute, they recognize how difficult it can be to get a loved one afflicted with drug abuse and addiction to agree to go to treatment. For this reason, they encourage and support interventions. A drug and/or alcohol intervention is when a number of people close to an addict come together to confront the addict about their concerns at once. Discovery Institute offers guidance to loved ones who are attempting an intervention. From the planning process to helping with intervention best practices, they can help you have the best chance possible in making your loved one recognize the severity of their addiction and agree to get help.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

According to the Journal of American Medical Association, 37% of alcoholics and 53% of drug addicts suffer from a co-occurring mental illness. These dual diagnosis patients often suffer from symptoms outside of their addiction, and without proper treatment, are at a greater risk of relapse once they leave treatment. At Discovery, they have doctors and therapists on-staff who are experienced in treating co-occurring mental disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. They work with their clients to get them on the correct treatment regimens to address their addiction as well as their dual diagnosis.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is a daily part of drug and alcohol addiction treatment in most programs. At Discovery Institute of New Jersey, they provide different kinds of group therapy each day to make sure their clients have a well-rounded, complete approach to their care. No two sessions are ever alike, but their clients will be with the same therapists and peers to establish a sense of trust, respect, belonging and support. Their goal is to foster a healthy group dynamic that supports the recovery journey of each individual involved through collaboration, sharing, feedback, and positive emotional interaction.

Individual therapy is a critical component of treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. At Discovery Institute of New Jersey, they start treatment with therapy immediately so that they can get to know the client and figure out what their specific needs are. In addition to a medical evaluation, this is one of the cornerstones of starting successful treatment.

Traumatic experiences, such as early childhood abuse or being in an accident, can change the way the brain functions and lead individuals to develop unhealthy coping mechanisms such as drug or alcohol abuse. Their therapists work with clients to process these traumatic memories and to create new, healthy coping mechanisms that will serve them in their pursuit of long-term recovery.

Addiction can strain important family relationships. At Discovery, they have a family counseling program that allows their clients and their loved ones to process emotions and experiences, set boundaries, and reconnect with one another in a therapeutic, safe environment.

If you are a woman looking for detox/residential for your husband or bf DO NOT SEND HIM HERE. My boyfriend of 4 years went here dealing with a strong dope habit. He came home with the NURSES phone number whom he was apparently dealing with while in rehab. I spoke to few other woman who dealt with the same thing. I called and filed a complaint only to NEVER hear back from them. After a year, I ran into a male friend who also went here for treatment, (single male) he also had physical relations with the nurse while in treatment and continued after. Disgusting.

Response from the owner

I went to discovery at first for only the detox I was coming off Suboxone Well, you don’t really start getting sick until three days later, this place is absolutely filthy and disgusting like their counselors and their staff plus they wanted to put me back on Suboxone if I stayed, I left and they held onto my belongings that was their policy. Absolutely the worst place I have ever been
