Truly did.. Didn't think I would learn anything entering in here and I was dreading it so much... As far as the place itself... No comment... Shack of a house.. fridge... And rooms with cots in them.. lol.. but there is a TV in the living room!!!! BRING ENTERTAINMENT!!! AND CIGARETTES!!.. Marcus Allen 7 years ago My roommate just came back from a stay here and apparently it's not the 5-star hotel everyone was raving about. Firstly, if you're staying here overnight, pack more things than you may need if you want to be comfortable, they take your phone and you're not allowed to call anyone except to get food delivered or if it's to the person/service picking you up. The food wasnt terrible, one night they served chicken baked with BBQ sauce with corn on the cob and beans. If you like cats, great! They have some on the property and they're friendly (and they get to eat your leftovers). You're not allowed off the property so you wobt ve able to explore the abandoned farms in the vicinity on your free time, which you will have a lot of. So, bring something to do like a puzzle or crossword or whatever keeps your mind occupied. The only forms of entertainment will be some TV, magazines, basketball with a broken plastic crate for a hoop, kitties(!), smoking if you smoke, reading something like the back of a shampoo bottle or drawing if you're into that sort of thing, socializing can really help. The people who oversee your stay are actually really nice if you treat then nice (they're just doing their job) and overall the quality of your stay will depend greatly on the people staying with you. So, hopefully you'll be with people who you can trust to go take a shower without having your stuff potentially stolen (so dont bring valuables) but the stay was pretty good, it's really about the people there. They will give you clean bedding, a towel, blanket, act but the mattresses are .. not the best and quite noisy when shifting arround. If your mind is used to instant gratification like internet or TV, be prepared to be very bored if you dont bring something to read/draw on/ occupy your time with. Alex Link 7 years ago

One thing I am most grateful for is the environment and community that grew my positive energy. Everyone from my APN, Dee, my therapist, Michael who I have learned so much from. Jose, my case manager who has always went above and beyond to facilitate any other needs I had. And for Melvin who always was a leader and ready with a smile and positivity. I always felt comfortable and connected. It was always easy for everyone and myself yo be able to engage in group settings and that is a credit to the vibe and energy of each one of the therapists who ran each session. We first went through ER and had the most amazing nurse take care of us, I wish I remembered his name. We then went over to the cancer wing of the hospital, which was beyond beautiful and the nurses there were beyond caring. Cauterization was done on liver in this hospital, procedure went well. Only thing was a doctor told that a stent was not possible for a blockage in the pylorus, which was not true, MSKCC doctor did tell us the opposite though. Either way, best patient care in the world. Our visit involved primarily dealing with the Same Day Surgery staff and everyone we encountered was top notch from visitor intake at parking to front desk staff in the Same day waiting area. Nurse Jackie was excellent in explaining everything she was about to do before she did which placed my mother at ease. Dr. Haggerty and the Anesthesiologist (apologies in forgetting the gentleman's name) arrived with smiles on their faces and were willing to answer any questions to further ease any anxiety my mother may have had about the day. During the process, I received text messages updating me on the day with my mother's progress. I waited in the coffee shop area and looked out at the river which was relaxing while waiting for the surgery to finish. Post op, my mother's care was managed by Nurse Rose who was just as bright with a smile on her face and very patient in helping my mother recover. All staff, nurses, mha's etc were awesome in helping me with my condition, the only negative things were more communication needs to be done for your loved ones at home that are not sure how you actually are and what your treatment plans are. Also some of the security officers at the front desk are rude and abrasive to family members trying to bring needed supplies as they're not sure what to do or where to go. Lastly when things are brought in to security it shouldn't take a full day to get it to you. I came in to the facility with a horrible attitude after spending a terrible night at Community, and they turned me around. And the food was good! Update from week ago when Dr. Matilla talked to me about my moms condition. He was polite and and explained to me my moms condition so I could understand it in laymans terms. Some doctors do give off an impression of arrogance, but not this one. With 1 percent of hope god can and will do something for you if you recognize it. I have been Robert Woods Cheerleader sitting on the sidelines as they get to hard work everyday. I need to thank more of the parking attendants and valet. Next on the to do list. I see them sitting guarding the garage overnight sonetimes when i leave early or get something from my car. Honorable mention needs to go to Nurse Adam who first attended to my mom in the ER. He is a wonderful person who used to worked in the peace corps but now has a calling as very humble dignified nurse. Update: This is starting to feel like I am documenting the life of a nurse, tech, or hospital worker as I am here every day to see my mother. Sam is the nurse on duty and she seems nice enough…Robert wood has all kinds of nurses that perform all kinds of duties. Sam is one of the float nurses. As I go to grab my regular coffee in the refreshment room, I noticed Julie the day shift nurse is still here two hours past shift change…its labor day for gods sake! Laboring two hours past your shift on a holiday and of all days! Then, I bump into Nurse Martha and Nurse Nick as they both make it a point to ask me how my mothers condition is as they genuinely care about the status of her condition. Update: Tye and Brenda are night shift nurses that did not attend to my mother but they were pleasant conversation in the downtime of the night. They are there when you need them even if it is just for unit questions or to past the time away when I am visiting my mother. Nurse Sam and tech Maddie are polite and answer all my questions and are kind as can be. They do there normal duties without a hitch as my moms condition is steadily improving. Staff receptionist Maria greeted me with a pleasant demeanor and gave me another pass when I forgot my keys since I had already thrown away my other away on the way out. Update: Nurse Arian has got to be one of the most detail oriented and plesant nurses I have met so far. All the RNs are nice, but she really gives off positive and kind vibes moreso than any other nurse or tech. Update: Nurse Brady is attending to my mother. He is a male nurse and I especially respect male nurses and techs. Brady has been very pleasant asking me if I need anything. Nurse Deandra, Nurse Joyce and Tech Brenda are doing their duties and as always asking the status of my mothers condition and refilling low stock in the room of supplies. I thought I would leave my review as is, but I had to mention Nurse Johanna. She spent a good 20 minutes trying to fix the position of my mothers pillow just so my mom would not drool and wake up with a stiff neck. Nurse Octavia and Nurse Michael were pleasant during the day and so was Nurse Sage and tech Adwoa. I also wanted to mention the hard work overnight of Nurse Silvia, Nurse Tatiana, and Nurse Deandra when my mother had an episode the other night. Update: Nurse Andrew and tech Rachel have excellent bedside manners. Tech Aklya finishes her duties right before shift changes. Tony Chang 1 month ago I wrote a good review for the Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center and I will do the same for floor 5 north in Robert Wood. I want to begin my mentioning this quote from a nurse I overheard while at the hospital. She said, “ I am not everybody or a nobody, but I am somebody”. Only a humble hardworking nurse would say something like that. In contrast to celebreties who love the attention because they are lacking something within their soul. I know the soul of a blue collar worker. I also am not everybody, definitely not a nobody, but I sure as heck am a somebody. Liz S. always greets me with a smile and always makes me feel welcome when I am visiting my mom for stage 4 lung cancer. The following staff have also been wonderful: Nurse Deandra, Sage,Jem,Paulina, Johana,Tatiana, Carmelli,and nurses Melina, Nick, Eugina, Jeremey,LJ and Sylvia, Mecca, Felicia, Miggie,Thelma and tech Fatima, Radiyah, tech Kiki, tech Nicole, Mya, John, Maddie, and tech Emanuel and Rollinsky and Rhea and tech Shy, and also security officer Joshua S. and officer Joel and receptionist Robin Y. On top of it all, I hear that they might have discovered a vaccine that destroys cancer from Moderna and I am just floored. Thank you Robert Wood…and for those that are suffering from cancer or have loved ones going through cancer please google Cancer Vaccine, it will give you alot of hope! Update: My mom is still trying to get through her infection and Eeg specialist Rahman is hard at work. I also finally found out the department that Dr. Meng who recently did a procedure that helped clear my mothers infection. He is a doctor from pulmonology. I do not want to take away from other patients at the hospital but, what I can say is if you wait and hang in there if you have cancer, I am pretty darn certain the cancer vaccine will fix you. It is in the works already for 10 different cancers but it could be coming in 2027 for mylenoma. I pray to god for all patients at the hospital because it works. I just know and it used to be blind faith but now it is real faith that is visible in the compassion of the hospital and its staff, also the asian guy who rings up my meal from the cafeteria and the guy behind the counter with the delicious ziti. Update: Officer Jay kindly directed me to 5 north when my mother first stayed here. I could not find it. and Dawn, and Anna are so nice at the front desk. Nurse Lakisha has been asking about my mom all the time making sure she is feeling well and Nurse Colleen has had a rough day and well thats all to common for the life of a nurse, doctor, tech or healthcare worker. Tough work, but not enough recognition. Update August 31, 2026. Patricia in the light blue scrubs who was brought in from a different floor of the hospital had such a pleasant demeanor while answering phones. As humble as they are, she told me she does not work on 5 North, but I told her it does not matter because all the healthcare workers deserve recognition. In addition, Nurse Katelyn was passing by and I had not had the chance to mention her in this review, but I see her working while I am here and they are always tired and exhausted. I feel like all the staff deserve more respect considering this is probably one of the busiest hospitals in nj. Update: it is not as chaotic during the night time, so I had the chance to thank Nurse Joyce the first nurse to receive my mom on 5 north. Update: Nurse practitioner Sarah G. prescribed lopresser in combination with metodrine which seemed to do the trick for my mothers out of whack vitals. Thanks so much Sarah, I was so worried until you prescribed the right meds. Earvin, Chris, and Brian each brought their own personalities and approaches to group therapy. Earvin's groups, in particular, were more emotionally challenging and encouraged deeper self-reflection. His groups often brought difficult or important subjects to the surface and encouraged participants to look honestly at themselves and the areas they wanted to work on. Chris brought a somewhat more lighthearted approach to his groups, which I appreciated. After spending a long day discussing difficult and emotional topics, having a group that allowed people to relax while still learning and participating was a welcome balance. Brian also brought his own perspective and approach to group therapy, contributing to the overall variety of the program. Having different facilitators and different styles was beneficial because not every person responds to therapy and group discussions in the same way. I appreciated having opportunities for both deeper emotional work and lighter, more approachable discussions. I want to be fair and transparent about this particular section because I did not personally work with Caitlyn as my clinician. My direct interactions with her were very limited, so I cannot speak to what it is like to have her as a primary clinician based solely on my own experience. Several clients expressed that they felt dismissed, talked down to, or uncomfortable during their interactions with her. Again, these are their experiences rather than something I can personally verify, and I don't want to present their accounts as established facts. However, I think it is worth mentioning because clients in a mental health facility are often in an especially vulnerable position, and the way they are spoken to can have a significant impact on how safe and respected they feel. I believe clinicians should be able to communicate difficult truths, challenge clients, and maintain professional boundaries while still speaking to people with patience, empathy, dignity, and respect. I understand that not every clinician will be the right fit for every client, and a therapist does not have to agree with everything a client says. However, there is a meaningful difference between challenging someone therapeutically and making someone feel dismissed or talked down to. My concern, however, is the communication style I personally observed. I did my IOP here and from day one, I felt supported, understood, and genuinely cared for. Courtney and Mika are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate—they don’t just go through the motions; they truly invest in your growth and wellbeing. No judgement, they really just want to help and are good humans! Also, the way they go about treatment, I felt really cared about , from the 1st day. I need a higher level of treatment but I will be going to Outpatient there after.. I can't recommend this place enough. They have no hard chairs that your ass goes numb from sitting in for hours, they have leather, lazy boy chairs, in the entire place, they have a quite room where you can rest if you are detoxing or dont feel good, they feed you great food, they have snacks and sodas and I was literally told "think of this place as your home away from home" and from the clinical staff, the nursing staff, the Dr., they're all special people. xoxoxoxo L E 1 year ago RecoveryCNT is a place of hope.
