About Piedmont Eastside Medical Center

Eastside Medical Center Behavioral Health offers intensive outpatient and medication assisted treatment.

Intensive outpatient treatment programming offers a clinical structure without the need for hospitalization. Participants have the chance to apply the tools learned in their life commitments such as work, family, or personal areas of involvement. This program is for those who

The dual diagnosis program allows individuals who struggle with mental health conditions and substance use disorder the opportunity to treat them both concurrently. This creates a higher success rate and a better sense of well-being overall.

Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with the addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life.

So im here at Eastside in Snellville GA because my 79 year old mama is having serious issues. We arrived by ambulance around 330pm-4pm and it has been a horrible experience from the start. The nurses here should have their nursing license revoked and banned from any kind of medical anything. I will.start with the lack of communication from everyone. Nurses blaming the doctor from them doing nothing. Im.not sure if im.allowed to.post names but I do have them and have no problem putting them.out there. To keep this short, DO NOT take your elder parents here. Do not come here unless you want to be rough handle and talked to like you are subhuman. Cant walk out as insurance will not pay and they know that. I will also file complaints with the state and post more on all social media. This is not the place for any kind of elderly care. Its not a place for any care unless you just dont like yourself and want to be down to, left in the dark and like being treated worse than a rabbit animal.

I was transferred in from Walton Hospital, to the Snellville hospital. The hospital doctor was great, did all he could do. The urologist called in and fixed my blockage, with a stent, but never came to talk to me about what he had done or what to expect after the procedure. The hospital doctor kept telling me the urologist would be coming to see me, but never did. The hospital doctor said there are no notes for him to tell me anything or to answer my questions. He couldn't do anything because he was not the urologist. The not knowing was a bad feeling, not knowing why I was still there and why no one was coming to talk to me. My room was at the end of the Hall, next to the nurses' break room. Slamming of the door chairs moving, loud noise, no consideration that someone was in the room next door. The bathroom had a walker, a beside the bed toilet. That had someone else's room # on them(445). I had to maneuver them out of the shower to get a shower. Then move around to get to the toilet. I felt like this was a storage room. The computer in the room didn't work, so they had to have another installed. That was not bothering me the IT team was something to watch while I was napping. I was supposed to be drinking a lot after my procedure but kept having to ask for ice. I guess they don't give jugs of water anymore. Also, I didn't get my meals. The tech would go find my plate, cold food. I found out later that there was something on my door that said no food to think, the said something like PO, don't know what that meant, which was never removed. Not really, knowing who was responsible for my care? Felt like no one. I felt bad for the hospital doctor that he couldn't get any information. He had to call the urologist and get the approval for me to go home, still not really knowing what was happening to me. Overall, a horrible experience, sent home without speaking to my urologist, I will get answers when I see the urologist. In their office, in which I do not have an appointment.

The staff was friendly, but thought nothing of wasting my time. I arrived at 8am for an 8:10 appointment. There was not another soul in the waiting room for the next 10 minutes. It was so quiet, the woman at the front desk actually checked me in and put on my wristband. About 8:10-8:15, 5 or 6 more patients arrived and I watched as they were all taken to the back, as I sat there until 8:35. Someone finally came to take me to the back, where I received my mammogram. By the way, there was no one else in the waiting area in the back or in the x-ray room itself, but I was left waiting almost another 10 minutes. As I finished, the woman told me to stay in the waiting room and she would show me out when I was dressed. I was wearing a slip-on dress and told her it would only take me a minute to dress. As I walked out of the changing booth and said “I’m ready”, she shut herself into the x-ray room. I waited a minute, and then showed myself out. As I mentioned, the staff was friendly and professional in demeanor. But as I also mentioned, there was absolutely no excuse to waste my time as they did.

Accepted Insurance

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients enrolled in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) travel to treatment centers for specialized care multiple times per week. Intensive outpatient treatment allows clients to receive robust care while continuing to live at home. Most programs require between nine and 20 treatment hours per week, with the frequency and intensive of sessions decreasing as clients stabilize. Services generally include a combination of addiction counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), recovery-focused life skills training, and holistic therapies.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Georgia is designed to encourage an individual to get the treatment they need. This effort aims to break through resistance and motivate the individual to get help. The process typically involves loved ones sharing their concerns with the individual and how their substance use has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist can help guide this conversation and explain from the clinical side how treatment can be beneficial.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Georgia reduces the risks involved in detox and addiction treatment. Without access to professional medical care, individuals may experience withdrawal symptoms that become life threatening. For example, alcohol withdrawal can cause delirium tremens, confusion, and cardiac symptoms. Without medical supervision to step in, these symptoms could potentially turn fatal.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox is the process of ridding the body of addictive substances in a medically supervised setting. If you become chemically dependent on a substance like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines (like Xanax or Ativan), quitting abruptly can cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. Licensed medical professionals ensure the process goes as safely and comfortably as possible while monitoring you 24/7 and administering any required medications,

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Designed for individuals who don't require round-the-clock care, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a form of outpatient care with a higher level of support. PHP treatment can be an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option. With daily sessions lasting 6 to 8 hours, up to 5 days a week, a partial hospitalization program may offer medication management, relapse prevention techniques, and behavioral therapy interventions. PHP treatment can be fully or partially covered by insurance.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Alcoholism is a pattern of alcohol use that involves continued drinking even when it causes problems. Alcoholism is also characterized by a physical dependence on alcohol, which causes the body to experience withdrawal symptoms when alcohol is not present. Due to this physical dependence, medically-supervised detox is often necessary to safely recover from alcoholism. Alcohol rehab in Georgia offers a three-step process of detox, rehab, and maintenance to help individuals recover from alcohol addiction.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Addiction treatment programs in Georgia help individuals to address substance abuse problems. With various programs available, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, you can find the right level of care for your specific needs. You can generally expect drug and alcohol rehab to incorporate evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), skills training, recovery meetings, and mindfulness-based therapy. When combined, these interventions can successfully help you overcome addiction and continue to enjoy long-term mental health.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image

Seniors Program

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

During rehab in Georgia, you may engage in motivational interviewing. This typically lasts one to two sessions and is designed to address any ambivalence you have toward change. It helps you explore your current situation and motivations and commit to making changes for the future.

In trauma therapy, you address the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic events in your life. Your therapist provides you with the tools you need to process those memories and reduce the symptoms. This helps improve your overall mental health and functioning.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Many life skills involve coping with emotions and stress. Others involve completing tasks that allow you to live independently. Examples include finding a job, managing finances, and nutrition. During rehab in Georgia, you'll work on any skills that are lacking to ensure you have the tools for success post treatment.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

My overall experience was average. I had spinal surgery. While the surgery went well. I was unable to reach my surgeon after the surgery. The nurses, for the most part, we’re great. But I hardly ever had the same nurse during my 2 week stay. And each time, I had to inform them of my health status which became increasingly annoying. I experienced the same issue with my Physical and occupational therapists; changed frequently. My biggest complaint is one that I am still currently trying to resolve. My discharge information that was sent to the rehab center facility did not include all of my pain medications. As you can imagine, this has been very frustrating. While I noticed that Piedmont Eastside is trying to improve, it’s obvious that there is a shortage of staff and they are struggling to try and make things work. As things currently stand, I would not stay there again or recommend them to family or friends.
