About Hamilton Physician Group – Behavioral Health

Located in Dalton, Georgia is the Hamilton Physician Group Behavioral Health Center. It operates under the larger Hamilton Medical Center which is now called Vitruvian Health. The facility is in northwestern Dalton, just off 1-75 and US-41 and not far from Haig Mill Lake Park.

This behavioral health center supports men and women as they work through their substance use struggles. The care team here can help you tackle coexisting mental health challenges as well for a well rounded recovery.

This facility accepts policies from most major insurance providers including Medicaid, Medicare, and military coverage such as Humana Military. Their services are offered in an outpatient treatment center but inpatient services are available if you need more robust support.

Clinical Yet Person Focused Care

Although they take a clinical approach to care here, considering it’s a traditional hospital facility, their philosophy is one that’s rooted in helping you achieve recovery with the lowest dosage of the fewest medications possible.

This philosophy gives you insight into how they approach recovery of a substance use or mental health disorder. While they recognize that medical intervention is necessary depending on your circumstances, there’s also a strong focus on helping you make lifestyle changes that will impact your recovery for the better.

Integrated Care for Mental Health Needs in North Georgia

The Hamilton Physician Group is also equipped to handle coexisting mental health struggles that are impacting your recovery. They can do assessments to determine if and what those underlying mental health issues are. Then, appropriate treatments and therapies will be woven into your recovery plan to help you work through these challenges.

What an absolute joke and waste of time.In the past year I have spent a total of aprox. 45 minutes of actual "face time" spread out over 4 or 5 visits.I have sat in the room waiting for which ever Doctor that I am supposed to see ( they have changed 2 times in the short period of time that I've been going and I was just told that this last Doctor is now leaving.Even the "after visit notes" are a joke.Mine have been so inaccurate that I wouldn't have known they were about one of my visits.Medicine in general is completely out of control. It has little to do with patients and healing. Its just another business focused on the bottom line.

I left a review about the negligence that this medical office, has treated me. Long story short, I have been under medicated because I couldn t get in to see anyone for an adjustment. After I left my review, I had 2 police officers remove me from my house to go to the ER. They said that the Dr s office called it in. I wasn t suicidal or anything. I had an appointment the next day, so I went. My GPS took me the wrong way. I was going to be late, so I called. They told me that if I was past 15 minutes, they would have to reschedule me. I live 45 minutes away . The receptionist told me that if I couldn t make it, I could see the provider at 2:30 or 3:20 as she had availability. She recanted saying that it s only for established patients. I asked what the difference was. It s the same conversation with just a handshake. She then calls me back to say that they don t accept my insurance, so I would have to pay $500. I continued because I had to get my medications adjusted. I booked it. I walked in 18 minutes late. 3 minutes past the time. A woman told me that they were not going to see me. She spoke to me as if I was incompetent for trying to still see the Dr. she said that the provider refused to see me. I told her that it was only 3 minutes. Well, she did tell you not past 15 minutes. I was pleading to see someone. She didn t care. The next available appointment was in April. I have been medically neglected for 6 months. They call a wellness check in on me making me go to the ER. They won t work with me even though there were 2 available time slots that could have helped me. No one else was taking them . I have already spoken to an attorney and let the facility know that I was contacting my lawyer. 3 minutes later, they can magically work me in. Now, why were the policies all of a sudden not a big deal? This made me feel like they were doing it for reasons other than doing their job, and practicing medicine to people who need help and has waited for 6 months. My general practitioner wouldn t adjust my meds since it s complex. No one at this facility cares about actually assisting their patients. This is blatant when the receptionist was unapologetic about the situation. I m tired of them placing me wherever they want rather than actually helping patients.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I world give 10 stars!! The receptionist is the kindest lady I've EVER met. And I've seen Dr. Beckner for many years, but I started seeing Dr. Priest when he moved to this office and I have to say that she passed awesome a long time ago. She acts like I'm the only patient she had and never rushes with me. She TRULY cares about all the things I'm going through and I honestly can't imagine my life without her. Thanks so much for existing and you ALL are a true blessing to me!

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:

Dr. Goyne is extremely rude, and asks deep questions and when you give an answer she says, "I'm not a therapist". I'm not a patient there but I know enough people who have had numerous encounters with her and they are now in a worse state than when they came in.

It was tough getting in for my first appointment. I was a current patient with the incoming NP, but a referral from a provider was required to transfer with her. If a person is reaching out for mental health support, I feel it should be easier to receive help. It took me two months to make an appointment. It’s also really hard to reach someone on the phone, but the office is good about calling you back. I feel that Laura Priest is a great essential to Hamilton Behavioral Group. She goes above and beyond for her patients. She makes you feel validated and comfortable during your appointments. You won’t be disappointed in her.
