About Indy Sober
Indy Sober of Indianapolis, Indiana, is a faith based sober living house for men in addiction recovery. What I find intriguing about this facility is that its model draws inspiration from boarding houses, combining the supportive, independent environment of a halfway house with mentorship and evening sobriety classes. In this sense, staff continue the work started in treatment without providing treatment themselves.
Recovery Through a Christian Lens
The group elements of this facility’s program incorporate common recovery components like 12 Step groups, but from a Christian perspective. Biblical study is part of the mix, and residents will attend church on Sundays faith based recovery groups during their stay.
If you are a Christian, these aspects of the program can make things more tangible by providing another motivator and guidepost for recovery, while the faith based services can broaden the scope of your foundation in sobriety.
Second Chances
Another aspect of this program I like and don’t see very often is how they handle relapse and other rule violations. They eschew the usual zero tolerance policy and instead evaluate each case on its own to gauge whether the individual is truly ready to change and continue in the program. I like this because we all know how difficult it is to break free from addiction, and here, there is some grace and leeway.

Levels of Care
The number one rule of a sober living home in Indiana is that residents cannot use or bring alcohol or drugs into the home. Breaking this rule typically results in eviction. In addition to this rule, men's and women's sober living homes have other standards that residents must meet. These usually include maintaining a job, helping with meal preparation and house cleaning, and attending 12-step meetings.
Programs
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
Accreditations
State Licenses are permits issued by government agencies that allow rehab organizations to conduct business legally within a certain geographical area. Typically, the kind of program a rehab facility offers, along with its physical location, determines which licenses are required to operate legally.
