Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides comprehensive treatment to those who do not require 24/7 monitoring and offers a higher level of care than outpatient programs. Often referred to as "day treatment" patients typically attend sessions a minimum of 20 hours weekly, allowing clients to return home each day. PHP treatment is often covered by insurance and can provide daily therapeutic sessions and services such as relapse prevention and medication management.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed for clients in early recovery and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Clients in IOP attend outpatient therapy sessions for a minimum of nine hours per week but clients may receive as many as 20 hours of IOP treatment weekly. Sessions generally occur in 3-5 hour blocks, in which time clients engage in some combination of medication assisted treatment (MAT), psychotherapy, recovery skills training, or complementary care.

Outpatient rehab is designed primarily for clients who do not require intensive clinical supervision. This includes clients who are exiting detox or inpatient care. Outpatient treatment typically involves addiction counseling, recovery education, and life skills training. These programs encompass varying levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), standard outpatient (OP), and sober living/halfway house programs. Each category is defined by the frequency and intensity of treatment.

Medically assisted detox is often the first step of addiction treatment. At the medical detox level of care, you are weaning your body off drugs and/or alcohol under the care of licensed medical professionals who constantly monitor your health and treat any potential withdrawal symptoms, sometimes with the aid of medication (like Suboxone or Vivitrol).

I've got a multi-faceted review. If you are tax-payer funded, ie, you yourself are not paying a cent and the state is paying for you, I recommend it. Especially if you are a recovering addict: This program was made specifically with you in mind. The counselors and staff are all familiar with your struggles. There is no shame here; only acceptance and sympathy. If you are someone who struggles with poor mental health...well, that is for you to decide. I was here for the month of December, 2025. Writing a review now because it's been on my mind. I had soul crushing depression. I had vivid fantasies of slitting my wrists at work (I work with knives). I know I needed help. But getting time off for my grocery store job is hard, and I had limited PTO. So when my PTO ran out, I was unpaid. This program cost me, WITH INSURANCE, 500 dollars a week. Now, I'm not saying that is a bad number; they bought us lunch everyday from great places, and the staff are worth the money. But that is still an insane amount of money for someone who works at a grocery store. I was there for two weeks, and I never once had a private session with my therapist. I wanted to know what my recovery would look like; what therapies I needed to focus on. All I had were group sessions, with people of varying mental health disorders. Sometimes one person would monopolize the entire session, and the rest of us are just there to smile and nod. And I mean, thats all well and good, but for someone like me; I had a time limit. I couldn't stay out of work. The gas money driving from Gulf Shores to Spanish Fort every single day was getting insane. And then I had my birth control implant removed. A week later? My soul crushing depression was gone. It was like a light at flicked on in my head. The stones covering my chest lifted. And I realized the entire time it was in fact hormonal. That isn't to say I don't struggle, but all in all, I was disappointed with the timeline, the chaotic-ness of the mental health section of the clinic, and the fact they did not have adaptive payment for someone such as myself that is unable to get tax-payer benefits because I make too much, while also being under the national poverty line.
