About Nystrom & Associates – St. Cloud

They provide an assessment in psychological testing when you first come in. This helps them determine the level of care you need. Here, they offer group therapy as well as individual therapy and family therapy. They also provide marriage counseling which can be helpful if one partner in a relationship struggles with substance use disorder.

They treat children and teenagers with addiction issues. They also treat kids whose parents have issues with addiction. The misuse of substances can often lead to negligence and abuse on the part of a parent.

The therapists at this facility focus on dialectical behavioral therapy to treat patients. It is an offshoot of cognitive behavioral therapy which teaches people to think differently in order to change their behaviors.

Dialectical behavioral therapy, or DBT, is specifically designed for people who have a hard time controlling their emotional reactions to stressful situations. People who experience emotions very strongly often have difficulty getting along in everyday situations. The goal is to get clients to accept their situation and change the way they react to it.

This kind of therapy teaches people that it is OK to have mixed feelings about life circumstances and offers coping strategies for those circumstances. It also teaches people to identify when their emotions are getting out of control.

Don't expect to matter to them, you are just billable hours. Do not expect honesty. Do not expect to be cared for like a patient. Ever since the buyout, they have become the reason people NEED therapy and not the reason they are healing. I have severe anxiety issues and have been trying to get an ARMHS worker to help for nearly 2 years. My therapist kept putting in referrals and we never heard back. I use Google screener to not answer spam and stressful calls, so I don't have panic attacks. Turns out the number that was calling me and hanging up on my screener had been them. My therapist put in the notes to email me or speak to my screener/leave a voicemail. They did not follow basic instructions and boundaries, completely disregarding my accomodations needs. I only found out it was them after their automated system finally emailed me and basically said it is on me now, even though they lacked the respect to follow my accomodations needs. If this is how they respect boundaries when you are trying to pay them, how bad is it going to be once they already have you as a client? This just shows they lack all trauma and autism aware procedures and that shows me who they are. I might still have to do ARMHS through them, because they are the only one with openings. I don't know anything beyond this, since I have not worked with them, so take my review as my experience and opinion, others clearly have had better experiences, based on the other reviews, just needed to put my experience out there. Edit/Update: After my review, they "magically" found my accomodations needs and after corresponding with them directly, they decided to lie to me and tell me they had left detailed voicemails, which is odd for 2 reasons, first is I answer every call I get, just with Google call screener, so not likely, and secondly, I have not had voicemail setup on my phone for nearly a decade, much less stress and easier on my anxiety. For those thinking "maybe they left what they thought was a voicemail but to your screener?" I looked through every transcript of that screener for their numbers and the transcriber had nothing but blank noise. So, they are not acting like they are trauma informed and they are willing to lie to cover it up. This place is genuinely not safe for those in need of mental health care. I would not ask my enemy to go through them, let alone anyone I cared about. Such a shame, they have bought up so many clinics that many will be forced to go through this nightmare, just or get inadequate and possibly harmful care. Essentially, my update is that it is worse than I initially stated, and they so far seem unwilling to be honest or accept accountability, both of which are critical for proper mental health care. Please, if you can go anywhere else, do so, this place has proven they can not be trusted with your mental health.

What's wrong with that place?... Racist receptionists!... They laughed because I asked if anyone spoke Spanish!... How racist!... I don't go there because I want to, but because I need help with my depression…What a disappointment!! … Now I understand why it has bad reviews… Starting with the receptionists…

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Rehab aftercare programs provide robust, wraparound care for clients who have completed detox and/or intensive inpatient rehab. Their services may vary widely, but typically include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, career counseling, and related community reintegration services. The client's case manager and recovery team coordinates with the client to identify the rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety.

Withdrawal from alcohol and drugs can be uncomfortable - even dangerous - without the proper medical supervision. The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body is with a medically supervised detox where a team of on-site medical professionals can monitor your health and progress 24/7, then administer medications (like Suboxone or Vivitrol) if necessary to mitigate symptoms of withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug addiction is defined as an inability to stop using drugs even though it causes negative consequences in your life. Drug rehab in Minnesota provides treatment for drug addiction in a variety of settings including inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Therapists often use cognitive behavioral therapy in Minnesota to treat substance use disorders because it can help clients quickly identify challenges and ways to cope with them. Its structured, specific methods require fewer sessions than other types of therapy.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Qualified therapists in Minnesota offer individual therapy to men and women so they can receive customized care tailored to their needs. Your therapist works to understand your unique circumstances and provide you with targeted interventions and coping skills essential for long term recovery.

Trauma therapy helps you understand and manage your mental, emotional, and physical responses to trauma. Using therapeutic interventions, you learn to reframe the experience, which in turn reduces your anxiety and helps you regain control over your life.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nicotine replacement therapy in Minnesota addresses physical dependence on nicotine. Paired with support systems to address the psychological aspects of dependence, they can be an effective tool to help you quit smoking. Options include nasal sprays, inhalers, gum, and lozenges.

I could feel the sincerity of the staff right from day one. The group counselor has a wonderful sense of humor . As well as the empathy of a genuine human being. No judgements here, just the passion to educate and the patience to listen to all individuals who need support and recovery.
