Couple months ago my wife was there. Emergency room was good. Once she got a room the nightmares started. She shared her room with a 90 plus old sweet grandma that couldn't hear well. So the Day nurses start out great! He was very nice, checking on her a lot. Then, the night came. As the nurses comes into the room to check on her, they start complaining about other patients in other rooms. Later in the night,a nurse comes in the room sit down next to the 90 year old. And slept for over an hour. Two nights in a row. As I asked to get her a different room. I was told no! They were full. The nurses acted different after that. I did report it. Nothing was done. All was said, I'll look into it.Very disappointed.

Took my daughter to the ER the other day , we are visiting a family member in Farmington. We live on the other side of the state. My daughter wasn't feeling well so I took her in to the ER hoping it wasn't a ear infection. My autistic 6-year-old son was in the room with us as well. They had their shoes off and we're in the bed watching TV. My son had got down a to get a drink , at that moment someone walked into the room ... Didn't knock, never introduced himself. And proceeded to lecture me on my children not having their shoes on and demanded that I put them on immediately. First off , I don't need anyone's input on how to raise my children. Second I have two children one being autistic in a small room with not much for them to do .. while laying in the bed he asked if he could take his shoes off.... I said yes, you pick and choose your battles as a parent. He then proceeds to lecture me that he could not properly read my child's throat properly because she had eaten a Cheeto .... Dude was so rude I left. I don't even know if he was a doctor... He could have been the janitor for all I know... You know being as since he never knocked and introduced himself. Oh, then back to my daughter.... We call to get test results which we can't get. Because somebody put the contacts in wrong...

My husband was a patient 5 times maybe more I lose track. In hospital staff was excellent only once did we have a problem. The nurse didn't dress his wound just wrapped gauze around it after doc visited to check wound. This gauze wrap stayed that way on evening and night shift. Day shift hadn't looked at it when I got there so I dressed the wound myself. Also his urinal had spilled on night shift and the nurse said she would call housekeeper but no one ever come to clean a towel was laid over it. But they have been great all the other times. In fact they have saved his life twice. I have been a patient most recently during New Years 2025. They did try to send me home and I told them I am not ready. I kept dropping 02. I did the walk test and thought I was going to pass out. Therapist said no my 02 level dropped on exertion. I did go home the next day. Diagnosed with CHF and COPD. But test showed common cold. Care was excellent but to rushed to discharge. Now my true complaint. The ER doctor is the rudest worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. I was sick and went to ER before my admission. Was there 7 hours with no one telling me what they even thought. I finally asked nurse to take needle out because I was leaving. He said wait I will get doctor to come talk to you. 30 minutes later I left took IV out myself. The next week I need back in ER. I couldn't get my breath. I think I had a mild heart attack on Sunday. But wouldn't go because I was afraid I get same doc and the chest pain eased then went away. On Monday morning went to ER. Same doctor. I asked for nurse practitioner. She admitted me. At home my 02 was high 50s to low 60s not sure at ER. I was to sick to care and confused. I am not sure of ER doctor name. Nurse told me he was really smart but I am telling you no beside manner and I am not sure he cares. Doesn't listen to patient. We travel a long way to get medical care. Doctors are great, my husband goes to wound center and they are awesome. This would be the perfect hospital if you changed ER practices. Things happen we are all human. I am an old nurse and worked administration in long term care as administrator for 40 yrs. I understand. But I hate going to this ER and don't want to be in any other hospital. Please fix. I kept waiting for someone to call about why I left er no one called. And today stumbled on this site. While looking for dermatologist connected to BJC. I see I am not the only one that has had ER problems. A once was told he was medical director of ER. I don't know.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Parkland Health Center works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient rehab enables clients to continue to work, attend school, or reside at home while undergoing treatment, including addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Evening, night, and weekend sessions are available at many facilities to ensure continuous access to care on the client's schedule. Many centers also offer ancillary services, such as career coaching and peer mentoring, to promote clients' sustained recovery and community integration. Higher-level outpatient treatment, including intensive outpatient (IOP) care, is also widely available.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

When my mother had double pneumonia and her O2 was dangerously low, they tried to get her oxygen up but did not try to calm/sedate her and because of that they were freaking her out by surrounding her in the delirious state she was in. Her delirium was causing her to think they were trying to choke her and they did not try to calm her down. If not for my lady and I trying our best to calm her down and get her to wear the Bipap, I think they were most likely going to let her die because she was being combative from her delirium brought on by low O2 and they knew she had a history of drug use/homelessness. Many that were working on her had seemed to have given up. One of the nurses was helpful and calm but many of them were rude acting towards her. Also, the doctor at the time came in, told her she had HIV/AIDS, despite her being delirious, and then an hour or two later came back and told us they were wrong and she didn't have HIV/AIDS. How do you make that mistake? The primary care/family doctors here are great but the ER is a scary place Idk if I'd want my family or friends to be admitted here.
