About Recovery Is Happening
Located in Rochester, Minnesota, is the nonprofit organization Recovery Is Happening. This program helps adults, formerly incarcerated individuals, and justice involved individuals receive the supportive care they need to become free from drug, alcohol, or substance abuse. Outpatient care, peer support, medication assisted treatment, and telehealth care are just some of the ways you’ll be supported here.
Person Focused Care
At the core of their services is an intensive outpatient treatment program that’s highly individualized and incorporates evidence-based therapies to help you work through recovery. Medication assisted treatment is available if you’re struggling with cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
In addition to the intensive outpatient program, the organization offers a telephone recovery support service. Trained volunteers and staff members will conduct weekly check in calls to provide encouragement and information about resources for maintaining recovery.
Unique Peer Support Services
Recovery Is Happening has thoughtful peer support services that help clients with various needs. For example, they have what they call a Roots Program, which allows you to work with a peer support specialist to build life skills, workforce readiness skills, and explore different pathways in the Rochester area for more specialized services.
The Roots Program also operates an emergency department program where individuals in crisis can work with a peer specialist to help guide them through the early stages of recovery. Lastly, there’s a reentry program designed for formerly incarcerated individuals transitioning back into society. A peer support specialist will give you the confidence and encouragement to move through this transitional period in your life.

Levels of Care
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program gives patients the chance to participate in a structured treatment plan part-time while they transition back to home and work or other responsibilities. This program provides half-day treatment (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:15 am to 12:30 pm).
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
Programs
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
