About Orlando VA Medical Center

Orlando VA Medical Center offers mental health care and substance abuse recovery to qualifying veterans and military personnel in the Orlando, Florida, area. They offer same day appointments and walk in services on an outpatient basis. If you require detox or a more intensive inpatient therapy, you may be referred to another location.

I absolutely LOVE this place. Who ever says they love a hospital or a place like this. Everyone is so nice, respectful and “ty for your service everytime”. Expect for having issues with the mental health side of this facility everything else is perfect. It could be my fault but I’ve battled depression hard core since losing everything from health to finances to marriage due to covid and losing my career, tried counseling but can’t drive there once a week so I’ve tried to go to a civilian therapist then I get approved but no1 calls. Regardless this facility it the best!!

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.

Treatments

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

In Florida, substance abuse treatment focuses on treating mental health and substance use disorders concurrently to improve recovery outcomes and overall health. Levels of care include medical detox, outpatient, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programs. Clinicians utilize evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) or medication-assisted treatment, group therapy, and skills training activities. This comprehensive approach to treatment helps to ensure sustained recovery.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

During family therapy sessions, you navigate the complexities of addiction and are provided tools to help improve communication and resolve conflicts. When you work together, families can better support their loved one's recovery and restore balance and harmony within the household.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

Substance abuse creates biochemical imbalances in your body and brain. By implementing dietary changes, you can restore that balance. This is the goal of nutrition therapy in Florida. You'll gain an understanding of what nutrients your body needs and learn best self care practices.

I was discharged today from the Mental Health Unit after a month stay, depression and anxiety spiraling out of control and being underweight making things worse. To my amazement nurses, doctor's and even a director was involved in my care. I had little hope when I arrived a month ago. Today I am healthier mentally and physically than I was a 6 years ago. Veteran's are their passion.I believe God sent me there. Such kind caring people. May God reward them

OMG where do I start? I moved to St. Cloud May 1 of this year. I began getting setup with the Orlando VA the next day. Since then I've had to be in the hospital for 9 days. I have never had such a professional, caring, knowledgeable experience in a hospital before. The doctors, nurses, janitorial, kitchen staff, pharmacy and everyone else involved in my care went way above what was expected. I know exactly why the Orlando VA is in the top 5 VAs in the country. They absolutely deserve it. From the bottom of my heart I Thank You all.

I want to thank Dr Danette Napier. She’s the best psychiatrist in the universe. I was a zombie heavily medicated when i started working with her. Since day one Dr Danette Napier started listening to me about how I was feeling on the medications that I was on. Something that the prior psychiatrists never did. Dr Danette Napier started adjusting my medication and I started feeling better. Now I can function, I am focused, I am driven, and goal oriented. Life has meaning. Now I can enjoy my life. Thank you very much Dr Danette Napier. I appreciate you, and thank you for making a difference in my life.💚

Nice building but the staff that works there they should all be fired. They’re all useless. There’s a lot of signs that we’re here to serve those who serve. But the employees are not really interested on serving the veteran or doing best for the veteran. They are just faking it, especially higher administration. They’re in denial of seeing how this big hospital is not really helping the veterans at all. Congress should be looking into this.
