This hospital and all Corewell hospitals are the worst. Especially a Dr McDonald in emergency. She should just go home. Useless. Horrible experience and worse. Ever since Corewell took over all the hospitals round me it's 2 star ratings are well deserved.

I recently had a knee replacement done by Dr. Eberhart @ Corewell Taylor . I had such a great experience there , I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or revisit there. The Bone & Joint Unit I was in were simply the best . Shout out to all shifts ( with Lawrence, Leslie, Nikkia , Mary , & Gloria ) . I probably missed some , but they gave their 150% to make sure all my needs were met , were always available to me & I never felt guilty about using my call light, either . After surgery it is easy to fall into fristration. This staff would never let that happen . I also think they played a crucial part to my climb back to Independence. Thank you !

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving care at an outpatient rehab remain in their own homes and attend treatment as often as daily, depending on the level of need. Outpatient care generally consists of psychotherapy, addiction education, life skills training, and community reintegration support. Many outpatient treatment centers provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living, and standard outpatient services. Some outpatient rehabs also offer ambulatory medical detox and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
While many people know it as "day treatment", a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers treatment during the day and allows you to live at home. PHP treatment typically requires a commitment of at least 20 hours of treatment every week, with a program duration that spans approximately 90 days. While commuting is necessary, some programs offer telehealth options. PHP treatment plans usually include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Personalized therapy sessions for drug addiction emphasize understanding your background and behavioral triggers for substance use. Your therapist will collaborate with you to create an effective coping strategy and address underlying issues that clear the way for lasting change.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Both internal and external factors can put stress on a relationship. Couples therapy helps you and your partner work through those stressors and find healthy ways to deal with challenges as they arise.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Substance abuse negatively affects your nutrition. Some drugs affect your metabolism, while others affect how your body absorbs nutrients. Others suppress your appetite. To restore balance to your systems, nutrition therapy provides a healthy meal plan and training for how to eat the right foods to support addiction recovery.

Recreational therapy helps to build healthy habits and discover new interests that can reduce your cravings and your exposure to alcohol and drug triggers. Activities may include physical fitness, gardening, group games, and team sports. These promote relaxation, improve your mood, and encourage social interaction. Each of these is crucial to sustain long term recovery.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

This is by far the worst hospital I’ve dealt with. They say different on the phone than they do in the office. They let you drive hours away to visit someone and then turn around and not let you see them. I’ll do anything I gotta do for my significant other. By far the worst hospital

If I could give no stars I would. My experience with Dr. Bakhsh was absolutely terrible, she did nothing, but go off past blood work and gave me an x-ray. No blood work of her own, no urinalysis, no ultrasound. No help. I did not come to the hospital for pain meds, I came to the hospital for help and a diagnosis, or something that I could do. I fully understand that the doctors do not have all the answers, but that's what research is for, and she did none. I am very disappointed, I felt as though the nurse wanted to help more than she did. She didn't even let the nurse finish his job. I was in the hospital for 30 minutes. I was discharged the same way I came in. It was very weird, my past experience with the emergency unit was great, but yesterday this doctor was horrible. I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN! THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING TO THIS HOSPITAL AND SEEING DR. BAKHSH!!!! --> I saw received Corewell health response. You guys sent a link to contact you and talk about the experience and the noncare I received. Only for the link to say 404 error. Can you send the a link that works. Thank you

Criminal activity, taking clients in from the ER to do the exact same thing / testing they did in the ER and rebooking for future appointments Aka another billing / cycle. No need to double bill the insurance for things already done that you have access to. Seeing the charts and knowing it’s 2 breaks already. Leaving in a splint and not a cast

If I could give negative stars, I would. Absolutely disgusted with this place. How is it still in business?! Corewell Taylor MI is the worst hospital. If you care about yourself or your loved ones, you would take them elsewhere. Staff is rude (especially the front desk) and they just don’t care at all. Even in am emergency, head to Dearborn or Wyandotte. Avoid this place like the plague.

I am completely disgusted with this locations lack of competence, compassion and empathy towards its patients. Because of this locations negligence and refusing to act in appropriate timing it has put our family in ruin. My father had a short stay at this facility. Over the course of 3 days, my father who has been ventilated, multiple family members, including myself noticed his leg become white and cold-like ice. After bringing this to their attention, MULTIPLE times, we were given no answers, just shoulder shrugs, I don't know and I'm not sure. My father was in pain for days, and was given an ultrasound which took HOURS for him to even receive. We were given no results, just a simple "it could be a blood clot”. The last day of him being here, it was the last straw after his leg turned purple. We had him transferred to another facility, which was a god send. But because of Corewell, Taylor and their negligence, my father's leg was amputated and he passed away not long after. Every individual at that location should be ashamed and pick a different profession because obviously you don't care about your patients.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This hospital has a pattern of medical neglect and consistently dismissing valid symptoms. The nurses are amazing here but the doctors suck and are very rude. Dr. Bakhsh especially. Initially denied me bloodwork until I asked to speak with someone else because she wasn’t listening to any of my concerns. I definitely won’t be coming back to this location again.

I am a PG patient and I felt they could have definitely been more accommodating. Refused me water due to vomiting ( no other hospital has ) and didn’t even do an HCG level test to make sure everything is ok. Maybe other hospital protocols are different but I didn’t like this. When I was leaving my arm was gushing thankfully staff was kind enough to fix me up but no pressure was applied

I am very excited about my new experience with Corewell. I have been apart of Corewell for many many years having my children at the Farmington location, surgeries, and emergency room. All times being treated with dignity and respect for every staff member encountered. Everyone is very friendly, attentive, caring, and understanding. It's nice being a part of a strong, knowledgeable team of people that make you feel like a part of a family. I'm happy, grateful, and thankful for this organization and look forward to many more years within this healthcare group.

Unfortunately came here for loss of consciousness and chest pain and had the worst experience for health care. The staff, doctors, nurses treat you like you are a bother and don't want to be there. 1 nurse was wanting to fight with a patient, saying loudly in the halls " if they have a problem with one of my nurses they have a problem with me too" 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️
