About BHG Springfield Treatment Center

Staff at BHG create Individualized treatment plans to help you meet your short and long term goals. Medication assisted treatment can be provided if suitable for your needs. Their group treatment aims to help you develop coping skills. They also aim to help you identify triggers and improve your mental health. There is no specific length of time for treatment. It is all based on where you are individually in your recovery.

A previous attendee stated the counselors are great at their jobs. They care about you and what you are going through. One downside clients noted is that, due to the program’s popularity, the facility can be crowded at times.

BHG Springfield has had its ups and downs the past year and a half I’ve been there. Recently, I’ve seen a significant improvement. For a while, it was an hour-two hour wait for dosing, which was tough with a job. But it’s been much smoother recently. I’ve always enjoyed the staff throughout my entire time as a patient. The golden rule has honestly been my moral compass in life, I believe it makes a world of a difference. I have a wonderful, empathetic counselor (all of them have been wonderful to me) and the nurses are sweet. The newer front desk lady has also been AMAZING too. There’s been a new director and she’s been nothing short of being lovely to me!. Prior to our new director, I had no idea who the director was, lol! It’s always nice for the team to know my name, despite the many patients that come for treatment. I don’t expect it, ever, but it’s just a simple act of kindness that is rare in my day to day. I used to dread coming here (mostly for the long wait and the discussions openly held in the waiting lobby, but I’ve learned to tune it out) but I haven’t had an issue recently. I will say I wish they took private health insurance— I pay out of pocket and it’s a dent, but that’s the price I signed up for my treatment. I have continued to live a happy and healthy life while on medicated assisted treatment. It’s allowed me to build my life while staying stable after a decade of OUD. In year one for a few months I was on a grant, which was a life saver, thanks to my counselor!! I don’t think grants are offered anymore, but I could be wrong. I can’t thank BHG South enough for giving me stability back into my life.

They have been life saving for me as far as the medication goes . As far as counseling , boooo ! Some don’t even go to counseling and their scheduling of appts is a joke ! Also they are money hungry ! Not do I only have to pay 120 a week to go there if you don’t have insurance . If you’re lucky enough to get Carrie’s they want to charge you 2 bucks for your bottle to put it in and an additional 2 if u need another lmao ! So yeah they can’t afford to give out plastic bottles hahahaha I wonder where all the money goes !???

Accepted Insurance

BHG Springfield Treatment Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

First initial visit today, Everyone's experience is different, but the entire staff was very polite and pleasant. They took time and answered every question I had. The front desk staff was amazing. The nurse and Doctor was also amazing. Other than the long initial visit wait time, no complaints from me so far.

Great place to get sober and stay off the streets. The only issue I have with the BHG here in springfield is the over pricing for treatment. I came from a bhg in okc and it is144 cheaper than here. Someone is taking advantage of people here. And in okc you have the option to either dose the pill form or the liquid. Sooo hmmm 🤔 but I don't think it's from the clinic itself. I believe the state of missouri has their hand in the cookie jar!

Response from the owner
Thank you for your review and for sharing your feedback with BHG Springfield Treatment Center. We’d like to clarify that BHG does not have a treatment center in Oklahoma City. Costs can vary by location due to state regulations and other factors, but your input is important to us, and we'll take it into consideration.

So thankful finding this place! Everyone is very nice and professional. I have nothing negative to say. The negative comments are due to people who are upset due to their payment issues. If you don't pay obviously they will wing you off until you are back at a 0 level. This is the 2nd clinic I been to and ylthey are helpful, nice, professional and they genuinely care. Highly recommend going here if needed. Thank you all!

This place has put up with me countless times running in there, without my box, without my id, without payment, and they still let me dose. Only one time did they ever make me leave and that was no one’s fault but my own. Thank you for the love, BHG. For real.

U will wait hrs to be dosed. If nurse doesn't show u may wait up to 4 hrs for another to drive here from half state away. They cannot keep nurses. No councilor appointments. People talking bout and selling drugs in lobby. ( no B.S.) people come in on heroin and meth dirty UA's for a year and allowed to continue nonsto It's a joke. Because no other clinic near springfield they treat u any way they want u have no options. They charge insane prices and will take u off completely if no cash that week. It's against law but I watched them do it. Girl was assaulted in lobby guy still attends.

I am very thankful to even have a methadone clinic that I can go to first of all . There are some major problems with the South bhg in Springfield Mo. ! First of all , please get that place some help , we have to wait forever on our meds here lately and it's making everyone late for their jobs etc.... I understand being behind , but simply not hiring enough people to is do the job is on you guys!!! Please get this clinic some help !! It's getting rediculous there !

Been going here for my sobriety for over 5-6 months. They only care about money and when you can pay it. Not your sobering experience or care about you as a person at all. I’ve been with a certain counselor for months and they don’t call. They don’t try and talk to you. It’s all a big money grab. Go dotox and find sobriety elsewhere. Please. Because they will get you hook on another substance like methadone! STAY AWAY!!!
