Choices of Louisiana was acquired by BayMark Health Services and now operates as BAART Programs Northshore. They provide outpatient treatment for those with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in Hammond, Louisiana.
In addition to private insurance, they accept Medicaid, Medicare and military insurance. Their focus is on practical progress, meeting clients wherever they are in their recovery journey.
With an emphasis on trauma informed care, they offer individual and group counseling in an outpatient setting. I found that they also provide medication assisted treatment (MAT), using medications such as methadone to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
Therapy is structured under the Matrix Model, focusing on modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing to help you understand the cause of your addiction and develop relapse prevention tools. I like that BAART Programs offer a dedicated veterans program for military personnel and their families. Pregnant and postpartum women have a specialized place in their program as well.
An important part of healing is finding sober activities to manage your stress and prevent relapse. In between your treatment sessions, you can visit The Joyce Wildlife Swamp Walk Nature Trail, which features 35,000 acres of scenic swampland and provides opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. Another place you might like is Cate Square Park, which is an oasis of relaxation in downtown Hammond, boasting a large open space that spans an entire city block.

Medically Assisted Detox The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
While each drug rehab in Louisiana offers unique elements, recovery support often follows a similar pattern. Detox is followed by inpatient and/or outpatient care, then aftercare support is provided once the participant completes the initial program.

I highly recommend Baarts Clinic in Hammond. Megan,Shelby,Preston, and Chad are the best at treating you with respect and with kindness. They all are consistently outstanding, exceeding health care the way it is suppose to be in all clinics. I am completely impressed with their professionalism and their caring nature. This is the only clinic I've been to that truly treats you like a human being. They dont treat you like you're a criminal (like all other clinics) They listen, and truly care. Now I normally don’t have nothing negative to say, but these people don’t keep their word. three weeks ago I spoke to the dr and was supposed to drop down to only one day out the week doctor told me I was fine with that now all of a sudden you worried about a drug screen that didn’t have anything to do with three weeks ago And I’ve been trying to talk to you about Why am I still coming on the day I’m supposed to have off and you kept sending me to my counselor who wasn’t in there at the moment of you saying it , now because of one drug screen three weeks later you reneging on what you originally said this drug screen didn’t have anything to do with what was said to me three weeks ago Then a lot of the people there will be around and hear something, but when they get in front of their bosses they act like nothing was said and nothing was done. Just tired of them, wanting us to respect them, but they don’t respect us other than them not keeping their words and people being fake. It’s a decent clinic.
I love this place!! The doctor that's in there is Awesome and knows his stuff. The counselors are are amazing!! They don't just pretend to care they actually care about how you feel and why and they try to help as much as possible!! My intake person Sara was amazing my dosing nurse Victoria is funny and awesome!! The front staff that's checks us in awesome.. everyone there is so down to earth and tries to make everything feel comfortable for you. They don't look at you like most people do when you see and addict. They just see us as human beings cause that's what we are. We at human beings that families to not just some junkie. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to get help. The first 30 days is rough cause you have to go there every morning before you really get your day started but all that changes after you make it to your 30 day mark which is awesome. Definitely give this place 5 stars!!!

The doctor there is unprofessional, he curses when he talk to me. I’ve met dope dealers who had Better manners. My counselor told me I was doing good and passing drug test. Today my counselor was gone, how convenient I had 2 failed drug test. And it’s always feytnal. My counselor told me I was doing great last month so how is it the day he’s absent I have failed ua’s. The doctor never respected me. If you’re whit I’m sure you’ll have great experience. But that’s god telling me to get off the medicine, because I have a elderly person in my family who’s 85 and the methadone ruined her mobility. So my next move is wing off the medicine and transition into pain management. I have my mri showing I have hard from my foot up too my femur
I'm so glad I found this place. I was addicted to opioid pain medicine really bad. I wouldn't even get out of the bed if I didn't have at least 2 pills to take. I spent a ton of money, buying pills from anybody and everybody. Then my grandson was born. It is true that babies will change your life. And he did. The 1st time we looked at each other, he was probably 3 days old, but we looked into each other's eyes, and I knew at that moment that I would be raising my 2nd grandson. The only thing I could do was get clean. I absolutely had to get clean. I started making phone calls, and talking to people and all that led me to the methadone clinic on Pride Ave. out by the airport. My 1st day was July 1st, 2013. My grandson was born March 27th 2013. It took me 4 months to find the best drug addiction center that I knew would work for me. I got custody of my grandson when he was a little over 2 years old. But he had been with me almost all the time since he was born. Cash just made 11 years old and he still lives with me and I'm still attending the methadone clinic, it's called BAART Program. I'm kinda scared to stop taking the methadone because I suffer from depression, anxiety, Rheumatoid Arthritis and a few other things, and I know myself well enough to know that if I stop taking the methadone, I will find something else to take. So, I'm gonna stick with the program because it has worked so well for me. I honestly believe that anybody with an addiction to opioids should try this clinic. The doctor and the counselor's there are fantastic. No body judges you, and if you don't feel like talking a lot, you don't have to. But when you get ready to talk about your problems and what led you to get addicted to opioids, they will listen without interrupting and they will listen to you, and they will help you. I know this, because I've been there for real. You will love yourself and everyone else when you get clean, I promise you that. You will feel so much better about yourself and your life. I've transferred here from Baton Rouge for this very reason professional, very clean, tight ran ship! no nonsense! that Mindy or Megan or Doc will put up with. If you follow the rules do as you should this place is for you. If you plan on trying to play games and get over the system this place is not for you! I highly recommend this place for people that actually want help and attend the best program and facility in the state!
