About CAT Spokane

Compassionate Addiction Treatment of Spokane (CAT Spokane), Washington, provides outpatient treatment to homeless individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Services are available to those without insurance. Committed to reducing barriers to care, they work with clients toward their goals of housing and healing.

Harm Reduction and the Seeking Safety Model

Emphasizing a nonreligious, stigma free environment, treatment prioritizes harm reduction and the Seeking Safety model. Individual, group and family counseling is offered through their outpatient and intensive outpatient programs. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available for opioid dependence, using FDA cleared medications such as suboxone. No appointment is necessary and pregnant women are welcome.

Community Outreach Programs

Services are led by Certified Peer Counselors, all of whom are in recovery and many of whom have experienced homelessness themselves. Their Recovery Community Day Program delivers therapy in a safe, homelike space, as well as holistic practices like group meditation, art, music and community celebrations. I appreciate that they provide comprehensive assessments, life skills classes and employment and housing case management. Community outreach is a focus.

Accepted With Open Arms

One former client wrote they felt “accepted with open arms.” They appreciate the sense of community and people that care. The staff is described as patient, compassionate, friendly and supportive.

I have lived next door to a transitional living house for the last year. It has been absolutely hell for the whole neighborhood. We have had illegal drug use, people lighting fires on the back deck at midnight, fighting, swearing, total lack of supervision, maybe a third of the time, interventions in the yard that went on for hours, neighbors afraid to have their kids outside because of the atmosphere, felons living there wanted by the police who are now back in jail, supervisor who intentionally caused issues with me specifically Keith. I have not seen one person who has made it at this house and now they are leaving it a total mess. I have been a huge supporter of helping people who are homeless or trying to better there selves but I cannot or will not support or recommend these people. It has effected myself and my loved ones negatively. And no I do not recommend this organization. Also this is the state of the rental unit they r running. If this is a representation of their standards no wonder they have failed. Total lack of standards or respect for the property they are renting. The owners came home to an absolute disaster in their home. All carpeting had to be pulled up and replaced, the smell from animals in the house was so bad that u were sick to your stomach. Their lease stated no animals which they had no respect for and dogs were there the length of the lease. Total lack of respect, accountability as an organization you are a complete failure.

35 years of homelessness ended because Bobbie and Stacey went out on a limb for me. I don't use illegal drugs anymore. No more alcohol either. My life has meaning. They truly do the work that the rest of the treatment industry, along with ineffective government agencies, and especially religious organizations completely ef up. Long live C.A.T.!!!

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are frequently used to facilitate clients' transition from inpatient to outpatient care. Clients who are more stable may also choose to enter IOP rather than a residential rehab following detox. Intensive outpatient treatment typically consists of nine to 20 therapeutic hours per week, with services ranging from psychotherapy to recovery education to holistic care. Many programs offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid and/or alcohol addiction.

Clients enrolled in an outpatient rehab program typically engage in multiple therapeutic sessions each week, but reside in their own homes and communities while receiving care. Outpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction counseling, including family and group therapy. Most programs also emphasize recovery-focused life skills training and medical, mental health, and social support services to promote clients' sustained sobriety. Evening, night, weekend, and virtual services are widely available to accommodate the schedules of working professionals, students, and caregivers.

Treatments

Inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol rehabs are typically the best option if you're looking for substance abuse treatment in Washington. These programs employ evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and holistic approaches to help you overcome addiction, enhance your coping skills, and promote your mental health. Together, you'll learn the vital skills to support long-term sobriety and overall well-being.

Clinical Services

Individual therapy sessions for drug and alcohol addiction treatment emphasize the importance of personalized care. Your therapist works with you to understand your unique life experiences and develop effective coping mechanisms to address your underlying issues. This comprehensive approach to recovery is the foundation of drug rehab.

Group therapy is a safe space that offers you a confidential environment to openly discuss your challenges with addiction and the progress you're making without fear of judgment. Group therapy participants share responsibility for recovery, which fosters a collective commitment to sobriety.

One goal of family therapy is to provide a platform where members have a safe place to talk about the challenges that addiction has created in their lives. Using guided sessions, therapists help individual family members develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues between themselves to support their loved one's sobriety.

Accreditations

State Licenses are permits issued by government agencies that allow rehab organizations to conduct business legally within a certain geographical area. Typically, the kind of program a rehab facility offers, along with its physical location, determines which licenses are required to operate legally.
