About Gateway Foundation

Every client who chooses the Gateway Foundation is assigned a team of highly trained and licensed substance abuse treatment professionals. This, alongside the treatment programs offered, ensures a client receives the most integrated and effective treatment planning possible. To learn more about the programs offered at this drug rehab center, read below:

The residential treatment program at this addiction treatment center offers 24/7 support and is available to all patients. This program allows individuals to fully immerse themselves in recovery with minimal distractions and private stays. Group and individual counseling are offered, and the length of stay varies, depending on substance abuse recovery needs.

This rehab center’s outpatient treatment program (OP) is less intensive than the residential treatment program. However, it does offer similar services like individualized individual and group counseling alongside various therapeutic interventions and services.

For example, those enrolled in this OP can expect to receive education sessions, psychotherapy, family therapy, and medication (approved individuals only). Other services include occupational and recreational therapy.

The length of stay varies according to client needs, and sessions are run on weekdays and on the weekends. The type of therapy a client will receive depends on substance abuse treatment needs.

The employees here (most of them) are very nice. HOWEVER, there were some major things that should have been disclosed up front during the initial call to set this up BEFORE driving 2.5 hours to get over there. So let me help you out, 1.If you are on any type of controlled substance/narcotics PRESCRIBED BY YOUR PHYSICIAN AT HOME, NOPE, CAN'T BRING THOSE WITH YOU, AND THEY WON'T GIVE THEM TO YOU THERE EITHER. SECOND, IF YOU DRIVE YOURSELF THERE, THEY WILL GO THROUGH YOUR VEHICLE EXTREMELY THOU ROUGHLY, FOR "CONTRABAND". I HAD THREE CANS OF MACE PILFERED FROM MY CAR, WHICH THEY INITIALLY TOLD ME WAS OK TO HAVE IN THE CAR. what difference does it make, considering they also tell you when you get in there they're taking your car keys and moving your vehicle FOR YOU to their "secure locked location", so why is my damn mace an issue? 80 dollars in police grade mace, pilfered. But it's a gotcha, your vehicle is now on their property, so they can legally pretty much take anything they want they see as "contraband". Mace was not on the list of "contraband" they would search for. It's not classified legally as a "weapon". Somebody probably just wanted three cans of really high end mace to bring home. those were just the main bullet points besides a few other minor issues. I checked myself out after a day in a half, and even my doctor at home was very unhappy they tried to fiddle around with the medications he had in place, the same way, for over a decade. What I was in there for had NOTHING to do with prescription drug abuse, if my doctor wants me on controlled substances and other medications he feels are necessary, DON'T MESS AROUND WITH THEM.

Accepted Insurance

Gateway Foundation works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

When participating in an inpatient rehab program, you'll reside at the treatment center for the duration of the program. Your housing and meals are provided, allowing you to focus on your recovery without outside triggers, stressors, and other distractions. You'll receive daily addiction counseling, drawing on various psychotherapeutic approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing. Many inpatient drug rehabs also offer complementary holistic therapies, such as yoga, meditation, or animal therapy, and creative arts therapy.

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. In Gateway's intense yet effective outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, individuals generally engage in multiple counseling sessions per week, over four to six weeks before transitioning into weekly Aftercare counseling sessions. Their center is close to where patients live and work in Springfield and the surrounding area. Their morning, afternoon and evening schedules provide flexibility for working adults.

Living in a sober living home in Illinois is a lot like living in a traditional home. Everyone must contribute to household chores and maintenance. All residents must work and pay rent. Individuals can mostly come and go as they please, but they must be home before curfew. Most men's and women's sober living homes also host house meetings where they resolve disputes, assign responsibilities, and welcome new residents.

As a flexible option, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is tailored for those who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can include daily therapeutic sessions and services such as relapse prevention and medication management. Based on your needs, PHP treatment duration can average 90 days and require a minimum of 20 hours of commitment weekly. While a partial hospitalization program typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex & Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA). Individuals in Gateway's drug rehab programs are encouraged to attend twelve-step meetings while in treatment, and given referrals to meetings and resources as part of the discharge process.

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

Dual Diagnosis simply refers to two or more disorders or illnesses occurring in the same person. Among those with substance abuse problems, the most common co-occurring mental health problems include depression, anxiety and trauma-related issues. Gateway is a recognized leader among behavioral health care providers in offering substance abuse treatment, as well as treatment for individuals that are diagnosed with a co-occurring disorder. Gateway treats dual diagnosis through comprehensive drug rehab programs that use proven, or "evidence-based" approaches and best practices.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing has strong scientific support for being a highly effective therapy for those with a substance abuse problem. Instead of trying to convince an individual of the benefits of stopping substance abuse, Gateway Alcohol & Drug Treatment's professional counselors help each person weigh the pros of this behavior against the cons while in drug rehab. Counselors assist individuals in exploring their core values and deeply held goals. These values and goals are usually inconsistent with continued substance abuse, so they become the guiding force toward behaving in a way that is consistent with positive, healthy living.

If you or someone you care about has experienced or witnessed a life-threatening event and is abusing alcohol or drugs to ease painful memories, trauma may be the primary driver of substance abuse. Rather than avoiding the issue, Gateway Treatment Centers can help individuals work through traumatic events and instill in them a sense of resilience with our personalized approach. Through integrated treatment, trauma victims may simultaneously addresses addiction and mental health concerns with trauma-specific treatment approaches to meet individual needs.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I checked myself into gateway back in July 2023 I'm now almost at my 2 years sobriety. I also started my bachelors in psychology because I now know what I want to do with my life and my future. I want to work at gateway or any rehab facility for those struggling with alcohol and drugs. Matt the counselor at gateway really made a difference in why I stayed there and why I now have the confidence I have. He believed in me and his words still resonate with me today. The staff all around was the best really. They made me feel safe and made me feel special outside of my alcohol abuse.
