About Holy Name Medical Center

Clients with severe symptoms or who are otherwise assessed to be high risk are best suited for the inpatient program. This form of treatment sees clients stay at the facility for the duration of the program, allowing staff to keep a close watch on all clients to provide medical assistance when needed. Clients also have their basic needs met during this time.

Programs are individualized to each client, with the core of the program being therapy (individual and group) and education services. The program also includes diagnostic assessments to provide deeper care. The goal of the program is to teach clients a combination of life and coping skills to support long term recovery.

Case management is a form of client support that ensures their medical and health needs are met. Typical case management services include transportation, appointment setting, and patient advocacy.

Dr. Yang is absolutely the worst doctor I’ve ever dealt with. His attitude was gross, unprofessional, and condescending from start to finish. He performed my gallbladder removal, and less than 24 hours later I was in worse pain than before surgery. My abdomen was so bloated and painful that I could barely move. He dismissed my concerns, told me everything was “normal,” and brushed me off yet another doctor later confirmed I had internal bleeding and needed a second surgery. While I was suffering, he even remarked that he had been enjoying a good Saturday dinner and had to come back in for me, and that I should be “thankful.” That comment was completely inappropriate and unnecessary. He is affiliated with Holy Name Hospital, so beware. This experience has destroyed my trust in both the doctor and the facility.

I have been here a few times, once in the ER too. They are in the stone ages with whatever software they are using. Each time I was there, I observed nurses using the computers more than attending to patients. I'm not fond of Epic having close to monopoly but at least I know hospital staff can use it easily. The care here however is great but I think they use way too many billable hours on data entry

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

A medical detox is the safest way to wean your body off addictive substances. When you become physically dependent on alcohol or drugs, quitting abruptly can cause a host of challenging and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals will be on hand to monitor any symptoms, to provide medication if possible, and to help keep you as safe and as comfortable as possible throughout this process.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Alcoholism (alcohol use disorder) is diagnosed when a person's drinking causes harm or distress and they continue to drink anyway. Often, they have a physical as well as psychological dependence on the substance. To treat alcohol addiction, medical detox is often necessary to safely withdraw from alcohol. Once this is complete, alcohol rehab in New Jersey can provide skills and supports necessary for long-term recovery.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image

Seniors Program

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New Jersey typically follows a set structure of treatment. The therapist helps clients identify their life challenges and their thoughts surrounding those challenges. The client then learns to identify unhealthy thought patterns and reshape those into healthy patterns of thinking and behavior.

Dialectical means opposing. The premise of dialectical behavior therapy is to learn how two things that seem to be opposite can actually be true. You learn how to accept yourself while also making changes. The focus is on accepting your emotions and changing how you manage them.

Group therapy settings offer you a diverse perspective on addiction and recovery. People from a variety of backgrounds gather together to discuss their challenges and speak openly and in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. This enriches your experience and your understanding of addiction and recovery.

I had my first appointment with DR shemika Martin at the holy name office in Paramus as I am in the process of choosing a new primary care doctor. Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk staff was very disappointing and left a poor first impression. When I arrived, I greeted the staff politely, but they did not respond. Instead, they continued to stare at me while I asked if I needed to sign in and how to check in. This lack of acknowledgment and basic courtesy came across as unprofessional and unwelcoming, especially for a new patient. Front desk staff are the first point of contact for patients, and their behavior sets the tone for the entire visit. I strongly encourage management to address this issue and provide training on professionalism, communication, and patient courtesy. Patients should never feel ignored or uncomfortable when seeking medical care, and I hope steps will be taken to ensure future patients are met with respect and proper assistance. I will not recommend this office which is why I refuse to receive service from such unprofessional dishes hearting people so I walked out the front desk staff was a black slim guy and a Spanish light skin woman I don’t know there names and they didn’t have name tags so I’m not able to mention it in this review. But again the first impression was horrible I don’t recommend at all.

I never leave reviews but today 08/16/2025 I received the best care I have ever received at any hospital. My first nurse Darleen in the emergency room was super sweet and whatever I needed she was right there. I had a small surgery so they moved me to another floor , and I had the best nurse and PCT Elen which was amazing! Shoutout Nurse Taylor for being an angel/best nurse to me. Also my surgeon/doctor Matteo is the best and helped me calm my nerves because hospitals make me a bit nervous. Thank you all again for taking the best care of me . - Nicole Chavez

To the Entire Staff at Holy Name Medical Center, I had surgery at your facility today, and I feel compelled to share just how profoundly grateful I am for the care I received. From the very first step of the process to the moment I was discharged, every single staff member I encountered—receptionists, nurses, anesthesiologists, physicians, and beyond—treated me with a level of kindness, dignity, and humanity that quite honestly changed my outlook on healthcare. In the past, I’ve had multiple experiences at Hackensack Hospital that left me feeling dismissed, unseen, and, frankly, dehumanized. The care there was impersonal at best and emotionally damaging at worst. It instilled in me a deep sense of fear and anxiety about seeking medical treatment again. However, being under the care of Dr. Lieberman at Holy Name changed everything. It was because of him that I chose to have my procedure done here—and I’m so glad I did. Every single person I interacted with at Holy Name treated me as if I were a member of their own family. I was not just a patient or a chart number—I was a person. I was heard, seen, supported, and cared for with true compassion. From pre-op to post-op, every detail of my experience reflected excellence—not just in clinical practice, but in human connection. The nursing staff checked on me consistently with patience and warmth. Administrative staff ensured everything was seamless. And my follow-up care has been nothing short of exceptional. Holy Name exemplifies what healthcare should be: compassionate, attentive, and profoundly human. I now recommend Holy Name Medical Center to my family, my friends, and anyone who is looking for quality care grounded in empathy. This hospital has earned not just my trust, but my deepest respect and gratitude. To the leadership team: please share this message with your staff. Let them know that their work does not go unnoticed. It matters. It is felt. And it is deeply appreciated. With heartfelt thanks,🙏 Bee 🐝 ❤️🙌

Response from the owner

Whoever is in charge of answering telephone calls in the behavioral health department needs to be disciplined and/or fired. It is beyond obvious that they do not care about their job let alone the patients, they refuse to provide any information even with complete approval of the patient and the access code, the most they’ll do for you is tell the patient to call you if they even do it. Don’t bother asking them for anything else they don’t seem to have the energy for anything else other than sitting in their chair. I’ve even been hung up on mid sentence trying to ask a question to whoever is answering the calls there, it’s often an older black and white woman they both are worthless when it comes to giving any assistance at all. The only person that helped was a male nurse during the night time hours that took the time to explain the situation in full and actually do his job. These people use the excuse that information is confidential as a crutch for their pure laziness. It’s just disgusting plain and simple I’ve never seen a hospital operate in such a manner, that says everything you need to know about this place.

Took my wife in on Sunday morning, 8/10/2025. From checking in to being transported to another hospital, the care and hospitality were stupendous. The registration clerk made check-in so easy and painless. The triaging staff were amazing and helpful. A big thanks to them. But the bigger thanks goes to nurse Jordan and her assistant, James. They took care of my wife as if she was the president of the US. So kind, caring, helpful, and thoughtful. What a wonderful experience. This dynamic duo was the sweetest and friendliest and it made a huge impact on my wife’s stay at Holy Name. Thank you Jordan and James for your kindness and service. Kudos to you! May your superiors acknowledge your hard work and dedication. A big thanks to Matt, the X-ray tech for your gentleness. What a stellar ER staff! Thank you so very much! Keep up the greatness!

This has to be the worst hospital ever!! They’re a bunch of thieves! My doctor ordered a CTV scan from me and asked me schedule an appointment. When I called I gave more than a week to make sure my insurance company covers the cost. And when they called me back and scheduled it they assured me it’s just a $50 copay. And now 4 months later they’re asking me for $2000. I would’ve never approved the scan if i knew that j have to pay $2000. This is highway robbery.
