About Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health

Kolmac Outpatient Recovery Centers aims to help people establish a satisfying life without addictive substances and behaviors. They believe addiction is a chronic disease and that abstinence is the cornerstone of treatment.

The Kolmac treatment program combines the intensity of residential programs with the flexibility of outpatient programs, allowing the patient to recover without needing to go away. Their comprehensive program consists of a unique integration of the three traditional phases of treatment; outpatient detoxification, rehabilitation and continuing care, which are overlapped to provide a smooth transition between them. Some of the recovery groups offered include 12 Step Groups, SMART Recovery, and Women for Sobriety.

I am deeply grateful for the support I’ve received from Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health. With their guidance, encouragement, and education, I’ve been able to reach nearly 6 months of sobriety; something I once thought would be impossible. What I appreciate most is that Kolmac doesn’t just focus on recovery, but on truly equipping you with the tools and knowledge to succeed in everyday life. The staff is compassionate, professional, and genuinely invested in each person’s journey. The educational sessions have been eye-opening and practical, helping me better understand myself, my triggers, and how to build a healthier lifestyle. Sobriety is not easy, but having Kolmac by my side has made all the difference. They’ve created a safe space where I feel supported, respected, and empowered to keep moving forward. I would highly recommend Kolmac to anyone seeking not just treatment, but real transformation.

Stephanie Lamont (Towson Executive Director) is an exceptional leader who leads with integrity, humility, and vision. As a true servant leader, she consistently put the needs of the team and the care of the people we serve above her own, creating an environment where the team feels supported, empowered, and motivated to do their best work. She provides a safe space for us to be fully engaged in what we do, what we are passionate about and that is helping people struggling with addiction. Her ability to balance strategic thinking with genuine compassion is rare and inspiring. She listens actively, leads by example, and makes thoughtful decisions that reflect both short-term needs and long-term growth. I served in the military for 20 years and during that time I experienced often people in leadership positions that were extremely harmful, who often took advantage of the talent they had on their teams, who lacked any emotional intelligence or insight for or into the people they were leading. It has been both professionally and personally healing to have this opportunity to work alongside Stephanie on this journey of my second career. Organizations are often only as good as its people, and the culture is often dictated by those at the top, and the level of care, compassion, innovation, and attention that we can provide here in Towson is a direct reflection of Stephanie’s consistent and compassionate leadership. So if you are looking for a place to land, to start working on your recovery and you want to work with clinicians that are going to show you the compassion you deserve and support you in taking your life back. This is the place. Join us.

Accepted Insurance

Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehab enables clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while living in a highly structured and supportive environment. Inpatient treatment is typically designed for clients who have just completed detox, are in early recovery, and/or are at an elevated risk of relapse. Their treatment generally involves intensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family counseling. Many inpatient rehabs also offer recovery-focused life skills training and/or holistic therapies, such as yoga, massage, and meditation.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

The general structure of the Rehabilitation Program is: attend group therapy and education sessions that last for three-hours each day. The patient come five times the first week with the frequency being reduced over the next several weeks as their condition stabilizes. By the end, the patient typically attend twenty to thirty sessions over a period of eight weeks. Two or more staff members are present along with eight to fifteen other patients. The patient will also have the opportunity to meet individually with a clinician several times during the course of the treatment. They also schedule individual family meetings when they think that would be helpful.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program typically partner with their case manager and care team to identify and access the services that best align with their recovery needs and goals. Rehab aftercare services are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs to promote their long-term sobriety. Care modalities are highly customized and may include a range of medical, mental health, and social service resources, including peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

If you think a loved one needs help with substance abuse, but they are not seeking treatment, it may be time for a drug intervention in Maryland. Intervention services can help you with this effort. During the intervention, loved ones share how their addiction-related behavior has affected them and encourage the individual to get treatment. The intervention specialist helps facilitate the conversation and explain how treatment can help.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Once a person has become addicted to a substance, drug rehab in Maryland is often necessary to overcome that addiction. These programs provide the tools individuals need to manage the physical, mental, and emotional issues involved and begin a successful recovery journey.

People with alcohol and drug problems often have additional psychiatric problems that require treatment in order to achieve a satisfying recovery. The other problems that occur most commonly are mood, attention deficit/hyperactivity, anxiety, and trauma disorders. At Kolmac, one of their basic beliefs has always been that the best results occur when addiction and other psychiatric problems are treated simultaneously. In order to accomplish this, Kolmac maintains a full staff of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. They collaborate with patients’ outside clinicians on the best treatment plan. If necessary, their staff will prescribe medication and will arrange for a psychotherapy referral to an outside therapist.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

During dialectical behavior therapy sessions, you'll review the challenges you faced the previous week and the feelings you experienced during those times. You and your therapist will engage in problem solving, discussing how you can handle those situations in the future for a better outcome. This involves keeping a diary throughout the week to track your emotions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Four key principles guide motivational interviewing. These are empathy, self efficacy, rolling with resistance, and developing discrepancy. These techniques allow the client to examine their motivations for change, identify discrepancies in their current situation and future goals, and feel empowered to make changes to reach their goals.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

When you participate in couples therapy, you learn how to understand each other better, improve your communication skills, resolve conflict, and improve relationship satisfaction. Your therapist will help you develop skills in each of these areas to strengthen your relationship.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

This place thinks that gabapenton is a detox medicine for alcohol. They put you on Antibuse which is not a good medicine at all. Just - don’t go to this place if you don’t have to.

I was referred to this clinic by the VA, and I have to admit I felt a bit hesitant at first. However, looking back, this has truly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The staff and clinicians here are exceptional, and I felt genuinely cared for throughout my experience. Crystal, my clinician, was incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, and her guidance gave me the tools I needed to find success. The program itself is thoughtfully structured, which made a real difference for me. I wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking help!

Kolmac has changed my life. I started Kolmac earlier this summer and I truly cannot believe how quickly my life has done 180. I started the program with a four day detox from alcohol. Everything is outpatient, which helped calm my nerves with something that can be a little scary and overwhelming. I worked closely with the nurse Kandace, who was there for me every step of the way. She checked in every couple hours to see how I was doing and let me know which medications to take. She was also available throughout the whole process for any and all questions I had. This made me realize how much she really cared about her patients and wanted to see them get better. After completing the detox part of the program, I moved on to the IOP group support. This is not something I originally realized was included in the program and I am so glad it is. It is led by our counselor, Bert, who offers great insight and support and has made it such a warm and welcoming environment. In general, the group is a lot of the same people for every session, which has made you get to know one another and really understand each others stories. I truly relate to them in a way I haven't with my friends and family. This has been comforting in a way I didn't know was possible. From the nurses, counselors, admin workers, etc, I couldn't say better things about Kolmac. I have had such such a wonderful experience so far, and I look forward to moving on from IOP to continued care to keep getting the help I need. :)

I was extremely afraid of going through DTs and acoustic hallucinations again. It ended me up in the hospital when I quit cold turkey the first time .I was very hesitant but I needed help. The first few sessions felt like home and then when I started the actual detox I didn't have any sweats no, itching, no bug crawling effect, and more importantly no DTS or hallucinations. The nurses there that helped were awesome and they checked up on me almost every 2 hours or so told my caregiver, my fiance, what meds to give me and I basically just got better every single day. I'm only on day five but I feel great. And I have absolutely no urges to drink already. The group sessions are also very helpful and there's no shame or guilt tripping people everybody has the same story it seems. Similar in many ways. It's like home.

Counselor Dee is a pretty solid guy, and has your best interest in mind. However, this place is a complete money grab, they randomly withdraw random amounts of money from your bank account at random times throughout the week. For absolutely no reason at all. And when you request a refund, they say that they will tack it on at the end of your treatment. I've had this happen to me about seven times in a row. This week alone I've had $100 taken out, +85 more dollars and that's with insurance and that's with meeting all of my group requirements and not having any late or missed appointment fees. It seems to not make any sense and no one has an answer when you call and ask about it. You must not have a card on file, and you must report this as fraud or they will keep doing it.

Response from the owner
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your recognition of our dedicated counselor, Dee. We would welcome the chance to speak with you further about your concerns.
