About NorthKey Community Care – Scott Boulevard

If you have an opioid use disorder then medication assisted treatment options are also available here through the opioid recovery program. They work with both adults and adolescents here. There are also school based therapies as well. This allows children to get the care they need without having to travel to the clinic.

They work with individuals from all walks of life but they have a focused intent on working with underserved individuals. As such, if you are uninsured or struggling to pay for care, you won’t be denied services because of your financial insecurities.

Serving the northern region of Kentucky, they encourage you to lead a life of health and wellness through the integrative services here. Supports you’ll find include vocational support, employment readiness support, and access to housing support services.

Sitting right on the border of Ohio and just blocks away from the Ohio River waterfront, the Covington clinic is easy to get to for residents through the town. This suburban community is small, walkable, and the southern tip of town is no more than 2 miles wide, making it a clinic that’s close to get to when you need care the most.

The town itself is also close to major cities including Cincinnati and surrounding suburbs. Because of this, there’ll be different community resources you can get connected to as you complete your treatment program.

The receptionist on the second floor kept telling me I could leave and not do the paper work if I wanted because I wasn’t exactly excited to be up after working a late shift. But regardless children and people seeking help and they tell them to leave because they’re not excited and they take it as attitude. I was court ordered to come here and I’m glad to get my things done and put a bad past behind me but because I wasn’t give her excited answers she was telling me I could leave no wonder this has such bad reviews. The receptionist downstairs were great and helpful.

This place was recommended to take my son for some behavioral concerns we have. We were able to get an appointment in quickly, however, upon arrival I was informed they would have to reschedule due to our tardiness. I CALLED before the start of the appointment (by nearly 20 min) to say we were running late, the person who answered my call was aware we were new clients and just told us they would let them know. There was no indication of there being any issues etc. Well apparently it was, we were 15 minutes late and told we had to reschedule, we drove nearly 40 minutes and did our due diligence to notify before our scheduled time of our tardiness. This is unacceptable and quite frankly a waste of my time, money and gas. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and disappointing, never again. I will NOT be rescheduling.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. NorthKey offers outpatient substance use services in several levels of frequency and intensity to facilitate the development and implementation of your personal recovery plan.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. NorthKey offers intensive outpatient services for adults who are using alcohol and/or drugs. Their intensive outpatient program follows evidence-based treatment protocols and is based on the best methods of promoting sobriety and recovery.

Case Management helps you manage your recovery plan and also helps you access other needed resources in the community. Their case manager meets with you to help you evaluate your service need, to help you develop your individualized treatment and recovery plan and acts as a coach to encourage you along your plan. Your case manager meets with you at scheduled times, helps monitor your progress and quality of services received and assists you in making connections with other supportive community resources important for your recovery process.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

NorthKey Community Care provides services to help you improve the mental health of your children and family. Their professional staff understands behavioral health issues and how to help your children, and you, improve communication and reduce family tensions.

Group therapy helps you discuss, develop and improve your personal recovery as well as helps you learn from others who are engaging in recovery. Their therapeutic group helps you improve your life skills and acquire a support system for those times when your recovery is challenged.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I was assigned a therapist named Zachary Fannin. He was very rude towards me and insulted me. He told me to, "stop acting like a toddler," and to ,"Calm down and get a blanket." I would not recommend sending a family member to this institution.

This place is a joke. They don't help. And as soon as you ask to see a different psychiatrist they exit you from the program without telling you they even exited you! Their phychiatrists quit left and right so they are constantly reassigning new people to your case.in no way shape or form do I take narcotics or have ever been addicted to any drugs. Always passed my drug tests. They refused to send in mynon narcotic medicines so that I could find a different place to see a psychiatrist after they exited me. Would not recommend this place to anyone. The only person in the staff that is helpful is Stella.

I absolutely hate this place.... The last two years I had a lot of trouble with my mental health. The hospital sent me to North Key. North Key is a joke. They send you to the location in Fort Wright for intake and to explain why you're there. Then they send you to the location on Madison to see psychiatrist for medicine and a therapist. When meeting the psychiatrist (Ashley M) I just got the feeling of being rushed and that they didn't care. They just was like here's your medicine now get out type of attitude. The therapist was the same way. She didn't listen and she just kept trying to put me through different programs I didn't want to go through. She just wasn't willing to listen and that's really all I wanted. The therapist also referred me to a former drug addict (Tiffany Picklesimer) as peer support who's been through similar things. After talking to the peer support I didn't see how we were going through the same thing at all. She was a former drug addict and I was just a struggling mom. She also kept asking to come into my home and I thought that was just beyond weird. She also would not stop calling my phone and it was on a daily basis multiple times a day. So I eventually blocked her number and stopped going to North Key because it was honestly making things so much worse. Best decision I've ever made.
