Everything was amazing and wonderful. I traveled 6 hours to have my procedure done at this facility. I have no regrets. The whole experience was good. Everyone I interacted with was nice, courteous, and knowledgeable. I would not change anything about the whole process. The hospital itself was also amazing clean and welcoming.

Buyer beware. Major sticker shock. Just know you are going to pay $3298.00 just to walk into the ER. That is the amount listed on your bill as "emergency room.". Then other charges on top of that. My bill was $7000.00 + for 1.5 hours. After insurance paid, my portion is over ,$3000 for a lousy ultrasound and some X-rays. I recommend going somewhere else.

I normally always have a great experience with Northside. The labor and delivery side is absolutely amazing. The emergency room side on the other hand is ridiculous. I have NEVER had such a terrible experience in my life. I went in because I had an infection from surgery that was getting worse. I was in so much pain yet they still had me sit in the waiting room 4 hours! Four hours of pain and I watched people come in after me and go back before me. They claimed my room was being cleaned yet when I finally got put in one, the sheets were dirty, the floor was dirty with used things all over the floor, I was given no blanket no pillow, nothing. It took the doctor an hour to order a swab! I froze still sitting in pain. Clearly they didn’t think anything was wrong by how the doctor spoke to me. Now had my infection turned into sepsis and cause kidney failure, maybe someone would listen. When I asked the nurse to just discharge me because she said twice she was going to do an exam and left for an hour each time, she got an attitude. I sat for 6 hours, nothing for pain. I could have just done that at home. I never complain, I never leave reviews because I know everyone has a bad day, but so many things happened that should not have happened that I could not keep quiet. I am so incredibly disappointed in this hospital and the ER staff. Do better. Next time, I’ll just make the drive to Kennestone. I could have been seen and back in bed. Absolutely terrible.

Accepted Insurance

Northside Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Use (IOP) is a time-limited, multifaceted treatment service for adults requiring structure and support for recovering from substance related disorders. This program includes: state of art co-occurring disorder treatment, didactic presentations and psychoeducational information, psychiatric services, intensive individual therapy, group therapy and family counseling. Each client has an individualized recovery plan that includes a full continuum of services within a single system.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Finally got my friend who is an addict to come in and they let her sit in the waiting room detoxing for 3 1/2 hours before she couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to leave. Nobody tried to make her stay. They couldn’t care less.

After several therapies they told me my insurance was not good for them. Now I owe them lots of money because they did not mention that beforehand. This center is a scam.

I’m really sorry I have to post this. My surgery and the staff were great and Would have been 5 stars but the billing process was overwhelming. I paid my max out of pocket and got bills for 8 months every other day with $0 balance due. Then 8 months later got a bill saying I owed $1000 and calls from collectors who could not tell me how this was possible. They were willing to accept 80% if I paid them at the time. They finally sent it to a collector associated with a law firm and robo called me for the last few months for me to call them. They were even worse and putting it nicely need a lot of training.

I have been a regular with Northside Cherokee for years. And throughout the years the same issues come up. Staff that can’t put on a blood pressure cuff correctly… but don’t care as long as they get a reading. And doesn’t matter which department or what “contractor”. Don’t get asked my religion and when I go in it says “refused to respond” on the note, really??? Their staff don’t look up medications that are being administered, seriously that is nursing 101, doctors document on patients without ever laying eyes on them or if you are in patient and go over your records, it is the EXACT same note day after day. Patients are not always informed… I have found things in my medical records I was never informed of nor were my family, and my favorite is that your information is always wrong and no one can communicate between places or see anything. I have been a Northside system patient since 2014, yet no one knows my baseline, no one looks up basic medical protocols for my rare disease, and HiPPA is an afterthought. They violate more patient privacy than I thought possible. I was a nurse for over 20 years and the information staff should have access to they don’t, they don’t use Epic so of course no one can communicate between contractors or other hospital systems like Piedmont or Emory or Wellstar. You have to sign the exact same piece of paper just going to a different office and there is no centralized billing. Nothing talks to each other. But if you want peoples phone numbers, birthdates or their diagnosis just sit anywhere in any clinic or hospital office or in the ER waiting area and you will hear everything. The infusion center has wonderful new chairs but yet no call lights. The ER if you are lucky you won’t get a doctor who basically treats you like you suffer from “female hysteria syndrome”, and the sad part is looks like this is GA medical norms. But on the other hand I have amazing specialists and that is why I come to Northside repeatedly, not because I trust the hospital, but because I trust my doctors who are associated with Northside or have privileges. And filling out their dumb surveys does nothing, nor does filing complaints… nothing changes… so maybe a public review will get them to understand that you can claim that everyone is a contractor so you can’t be held accountable, but when every “contractor” repeatedly performs the same mistakes you start to wonder if it is actually their Policies or lack there of, of actual Northside? There should still be standards and policies amongst all “contractors” that function under Northside. And you need to make sure your staff are able to provide quality not just quantity care… and yes I understand there is a healthcare worker shortage, but maybe that shortage is caused by the constant politics and greed the medical systems have become. People don’t become Doctors and Nurses to be subject to the highest bidder, they do those professions because they actually want to care for people. Do an accurate diagnosis, provide accurate treatments, not perform “cattle” medicine where they cattle them in, spend as little time as possible throw any medicine that might do something to cattle them out quickly to increase revenue. I hope you take this seriously and maybe make some good changes. I don’t expect a complete turn around, that takes time, but it’s the little things, get accurate vitals the right way, provide better privacy, and patient safety is always top priority…

Just had surgery for carotid artery disease. I was in ICU and Stephanie took the best care of me I could have ever asked for. Stephanie's a couple of days after smoved away from Georgia but will be missed by all. I was moved to a private room on fourth floor and had a nurse Emily who also went beyound being the best. I have had cancer and my stay at another hospital. was 3 months not once did my care come close to the kindness and care I have received at Northside Cherokee.Thank you so much to everyone involved in my care.

Labor and delivery staff has horrendous attitude. The nurses are transporting patients around hitting their wheelchairs on walls and then laughing with the other nurse helping like that is funny. Very unprofessional. It’s literally like dealing with teenagers. Then the admissions office one person says you need certain paperwork and the next person can’t take the headphones out of their ears long enough to admit someone. Good luck finding a parking spot they built a very nice hospital and 2 parking spots. The only thing I can say good is they have decent coffee.

I had unexpected visit to the ER on 7/31. After their evaluation it became necessary to be admitted. As usual, a difficult somewhat frightening experience became acceptable. All staff: nurses, Doctors, technicians provided excellent care with an attitude that helped success prevail. In 22 years of admissions here I again knew....I would go no place else !

My review is years late, however, nothing has changed. Im not saying "Northside Hospital" is horrible. As long as it is the one in Atlanta. If you are expecting a baby, please do not choose Northside Cherokee for your delivery. Now its been several years since I had my amazing daughter. This Hospital literally had nurses, (I have a difficult time calling her a nurse) who were not in any way educated about maternal issues INCLUDING PREECLAMPSIA! In my opinion. Any nurse in any maternity ward should know any and all signs of postpartum issues. Preeclampsia being a major one. The nurse assigned to my care was incompetent and ignored me telling her 3 times that morning that I was having trouble breathing. When she returned to my room the 4th time, at that point I was gasping for air and sweating profusely. Im not doctor so yes i thought it was very odd, but honestly, at that point I had to concentrate so hard on getting air in & out, I couldn't worry with why I was sweating but wasn't hot! She again left me there. Thankfully the photographer came to get my # for my baby's 1st pics. I was not able to give her my # in a timely manner so she was kinda rude as she left my room saying she would come back later. I never got my ONLY CHILD'S 1st pics. But that "rude photographer" actually saved my life. Shr left in a hurry cause she went to the nurses and apparently told them I was in trouble & needed help. Several nurses came to pack my things , returned me to labor & delivery and had radiology there waiting as well as respiratory. None of this should have happened. I tried for 2 years to get pregnant. I was over the moon to become a mother. Northside Cherokee took all of the wonderful things a mother should get to experience away from me. Kennestone isn't my suggestion if you are needing a Hospital unless to deliver a baby. Their maternity ward is amazing and its not so far from Northside Cherokee that any mother should opt yo go there instead. I hope this helps at least one mother. Good luck
