Accepted Insurance

Northside Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Use (IOP) is a time-limited, multifaceted treatment service for adults requiring structure and support for recovering from substance related disorders. This program includes: state of art co-occurring disorder treatment, didactic presentations and psychoeducational information, psychiatric services, intensive individual therapy, group therapy and family counseling. Each client has an individualized recovery plan that includes a full continuum of services within a single system.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Finally got my friend who is an addict to come in and they let her sit in the waiting room detoxing for 3 1/2 hours before she couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to leave. Nobody tried to make her stay. They couldn’t care less.

After several therapies they told me my insurance was not good for them. Now I owe them lots of money because they did not mention that beforehand. This center is a scam.

Just wanted to share my appreciation with the staff, ER nurses, doctors and to all the nurses, and cleaning team who were with me at Northside Hospital on 9/25-9/26 room 7238. The world needs people like you all in health care! 💪🏽🩺💉🏥♥️ Ronda in the ER who did all my blood work and medicine on 9/25 was amazing. I called up the ER after I left just to get her name. You made me feel so taken care of and were great to my husband. My first night once I was admitted into a room 7238 9/25, I believe her name was Caitlyn she were awesome. So patient, and gentle, seemed like she really cared even though in comparison, I’m sure my reason for being there was far less extreme than others. Lindsey, Destiney, Grace, Donna, Haley and two others I can’t remember their names but one had curly brunette hair and arm tattoos, and her partner was blonde and in training. Everyone was just nice to be around, joked and talked with me, came every time I buzzed or needed anything. The cleaning team was so sweet checking on me and professional. Both doctors I worked with were amazing. A big thank you to Dr Pinette (who I told look like Kid Cudi which makes him ever more awesome) that completed my surgery. You took the time to draw and explain exactly what, why, and how you were doing the things you were in surgery. Answered all of mind and my husbands questions. You and your whole team on 9/26 were welcoming, nice and professional. This was my first experience in my adult life ever having to stay at a hospital, which I am thankful for. But being with people that care about the quality of their work and their patients goes a long was and is incredibly appreciated. Thank you again to the Northside Cherokee team for being so awesome at what you do.

This morning a dear friend stumbled into your facility having a full on asthma attack. In a room full of a staff that has nothing but professionals that could help, everyone ignored her. Unable to breath well, she managed to get to her inhaler and diffuse the situation. I could not be more disappointed with the human population than I am today. This woman would stop on the side of the road to help a stranger and no one not one person could acknowledge she existed nor lend a hand. Do better!!!

So, I have had an issue with IV sticks and blood draws my whole life, I just don’t have any good veins in my arm crooks or hands. And every time I’ve ever tried to get them done at wellstar, it’s just 15 minutes of them digging and me sobbing, followed by me tapping g out and not getting care. When I visited Northside, the first nurse made a good attempt, but as usual, couldn’t find a vein. I said “nope, I’m just gonna leave”. And she said “oh, well if this is causing you problems, I can get an ultrasound tech”. My suspicions were confirmed when this dude had to stick me 2 inches above my elbow and run a 3 inch line, but he did it so cleanly and efficiently, that it hurt less than any other draw I’ve had. The moral of the story is not that other people failed, it’s that when this nurse couldn’t get the procedure done because my body was different, instead of just shuffling me off, she went and found a solution, and provided me accessible care. I’ve put off several necessary treatments and tests because of this issue(it’s become quite traumatic), and Wellstar never once told me there were available options for treatment. I’m going to call Monday about a PCP at Northside

I took my daughter to the ER because she was experiencing a sore throat and an earache. Upon our arrival, the waiting room was completely empty, so we were able to check-in and go straight to the triage area. From triage, we were taken back to a room. I appreciate that there was no wait, but judging from how empty the place was; it shouldn't have been a wait. The nurse came to gather information from my daughter, and she advised him that her throat was really really sore, and her ear hurts even worse. We waited for about 15mins, and the doctor came in. She asked what brought us to the ER, and again my daughter stated, my throat hurts really bad; but my ear hurts even worse. The doctor looked in her ears, and said "oh, your ears are full of fluid". She checked her throat, and proceeded to say, "Yes, your ears are full of fluid and looking at your throat and judging from the smell of infection; I'm not going to swab you. I'll just give you Azithromycin, which will address both issues." She diagnosed my daughter with strep throat, and sent her home. My daughter took the medicine on Sunday and Monday as instructed; however, the pain in her right ear became even more severe. She started to complain about not being able to swallow, how it hurts to talk, etc. I called my sister-in-law, who's a nurse, and told her about what my daughter was experiencing. Her first question was, "the doctor at the ER didn't drain her ears or swab her throat?" I told her none of the above. She told my daughter, who is away at college, to take tylenol and ibuprofen and allow the meds to work since it was so soon. She stated that she will come to campus, bring her kit, and drain her ears the next morning. My daughter does not cry, so the fact that she called me from college crying stating how much pain she's in, tylenol and/or ibuprofen wasn't giving her any relief; I needed to get a second opinion on her diagnosis. I didn't wait for my sis-in-law to drain her ears. The fact that she was no longer complaining much about her throat, and her earache was over a level 10 in pain, I decided to take her to the ENT. When we arrived at the ENT, again, the ENT doctor asked me; "the doctor at the ER didn't drain her ears or swab her throat?" I told him, "you're the second person to ask me this, but no". He said, "well they should have, and I don't see how they could've missed this". He explained to me that due to strep complications, my daughter developed a life-threatening peritonsillar abscess in the back of throat that could've ruptured and got in her bloodstream. He performed a small, outpatient procedure that drained the abscess. He changed her antibiotic from the z-pack, gave her a steroid, and pain meds. I said all of this to say, Northside Hospital Cherokee ER staff, the doctor especially, FAILED my daughter. If it had not been for me getting a second opinion, my daughter's health could have been compromised; and even worse, life threatening. I will NOT visit this ER again. AGAIN, there was no one in the ER when we arrived or when we left, and even if it were; the doctor should have taken the time to properly assess my child. I do NOT recommend this place.

We had an amazing experience delivering our daughter at Northside Cherokee. The facility was beautiful and clean, and the entire staff, from the nurses to the nutritionists, was incredibly patient, kind, and attentive. We are so grateful for their exceptional care and for helping us bring our little one into the world.
