Accepted Insurance

Northside Hospital Forsyth works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Use (IOP) is a time-limited, multifaceted treatment service for adults requiring structure and support for recovering from substance related disorders. This program includes: state of art co-occurring disorder treatment, didactic presentations and psychoeducational information, psychiatric services, intensive individual therapy, group therapy and family counseling. Each client has an individualized recovery plan that includes a full continuum of services within a single system.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Not sure why they have low ratings, but every time I have to go to the emergency room, I have been treated with utmost respect and care. Last night I received a bill from the hospital which was incorrect, and I went into a panic. I called their billing office, and spoke with Carla. What a sweet, lovely and caring lady! She immediately put me at ease and sorted out the issue. Whew!! Thank you, Carla!

Recently spent 24 nights in the NICU with my baby to help her get through the process. Was a great experience overall...except for two nurses Stephanie amd Dynasty. Stephanie mad up guidelines to either make her job easier or keep my baby there longer. I learned she lied about necessary protocols after speaking to multiple other nurses. She told my wife no cell phones allowed, she couldn't bring up bags after labor and delivery discharge, no visitors two days after admittance to NICU, amongst other eronious guidlines. All not mandatory and false. Most nurses would argue that presence of family is the reason my baby was discharged after three weeks, instead of the six week estimate. Dynasty was also horrible. Very combative and wrong on most arguments most of the time. Dynasty threatend to call DEFACS because of a non mandatory CPR class before my baby's discharge. My baby has been out of there for a week and my blood still boils when thinking about those two. I hope no other parent in my situation has to deal with them. Think twice before delivering at northside forsyth.

I came into the emergency on August 30th, and ended up staying for 2 weeks. I had an emergency gallbladder removal, and although that in itself wasn't bad, it was the infection that was neglected by my visiting doctor and day time nurses that brewed and caused me to have to stay longer then I should have. I complained and requested for the doctor and nurses to remove the bandage to evaluate the incision, on the second, third and 4th day after my surgery, saying my incision site was angry and red, and even with a fever, they did not open the wound to look even after I begged them to. By day 4, the infection was full force and now needed multiple antibiotics and not to mention I had to stay an additional 9 more days until the infection was under control. I rated this review 5 stars not because of anyone other then the 2 nurses I had at nights. These two angels, unlike the neglectful doctor who didn't listen to my initial complaint about the infection and 1 rude day time nurse I had, these two lovely evening nurses were a gift from God. I was miserable, hurt, angry and couldn't sleep with people coming and going every two hours. My arms were bruised from poking and prodding, but as soon as my evening nurse Lauren Kerr came in, with her partner nurse Slyvia Ordit, they made me so comfortable. She would be so attentive to my needs, administering my meds on time and warming up prune juice and extra pillows and warm blankets, just doing her absolute best effort to comfort me. I was blessed to have these two beautiful nurses with hearts of gold. You can tell they love what they do, they love their job, they love their craft. Unlike my day time nurse I won't name who wouldn't come on time to administer my meds, and even when called several times, and even called front desk and still, she would only show up eventually an hour half after my request, as if done on purpose, for my scheduled pain medication. By the time she showed up I would be in excruciating pain and if that wasn't enough, she would come with an attitude and tell me that if I should stop taking the pain medication, then maybe I wouldn't be so constipated, meds (which were subscribed for my comfort after my surgery to be administered every 4-6 hrs by a doctor) by the way. She made me feel like I was an addict or something, I have never in my life done recreational drugs, I don't even smoke or drink. And It wasnt one day, it was everytime she was assigned to my care. So I finally requested her to be removed as my day time nurse. So to summarize, Lauren Kerr you and Slyvia are angels! Thank you for caring for me so well. God bless you both, the hospital should hire more caring staff like you or put you in charge of training the other careless ones who just show up for a paycheck. ~Peggy Ochoa.

Giving anything below 5 stars to this great hospital is just not truthful. If you had a bad nurse oh well, get over it. But the facility is beyond belief and a place id be proud to work if I could as a Board Certified Master Electrician and Inspector in GA.

Some woman here after I had a horrible day with their Imaging Center in Gainesville and canceled my appointment with them under no uncertain terms…. because I had a feeling a woman there was the type to leave it on the books so I’d get billed…. called me from the radiology department at the Forsyth Hospital (?????) claiming I still had an appointment at the Northside Imaging Center in Gainesville coming up. Mind you…this was *after* I’d already reported my encounter with the Imaging Center to the hospital in general and asked for a copy of the phone call with them. If it comes to it, I will subpoena it I guess. As if they are not destroying it right now. She was super weird and she acted like canceling a doctors appointment was the biggest bureaucratic effort that existed on the planet and assured me mine WAS NOT canceled—well I don’t think ‘assure’ is the correct word….more like threatened. She said she was from pre-registration. Um, what? So she told me that she couldn’t cancel it and she transferred me to someone else who was also very condescending and rude until I was like look, you guys are getting paid to take care of patients not vice-versa after she dictated how I talked to her but did not hold herself to the same standard — and she said I’m gonna put you on hold at which point I just hung up because she wasn’t going to help me……… That’s the last straw after what I’ve been through today. These employees lied to me and I ended up racking up a huge bill that I never would have because they don’t even know how their financial aid system works; and I can prove that and other things if I can get access to that recording, and they know it. Refer to my review of the Gainesville Imaging Center for Northside if you wish. Anyhow, I called the Imaging Center back and some tech answered the phone and already knew what was going on because it’s been that kind of day and assured me over and over that the appointment had been cancelled. But according to these women, one definitely sounded black, the other, maybe an older Latino woman or something — her accent, well she had one….I didn’t have the power to cancel my own appointment through the office I made it at. Okay. And then they don’t answer the phone when I call back. It’s been established that I can’t trust the Imaging Center but I didn’t have it on my bingo card to be harassed by the hospital in Forsyth in retaliation for reporting them too. The Imaging Center has been calling me and hanging up over and over. Is this Gen Z? Millennials? I have a PhD in Public Health and I’ve been a huge advocate of Northside being let into Gainesville. But you guys can stay right where you are. In fact, please. With all the horror I have been through at Northeast Georgia….and, believe me you cannot imagine…no one has ever set up a coordinated phone, harassment campaign, or told me I can’t cancel an appointment with the office I made it with. Or is this an admission of guilt on the part of the Imaging Center by the hospital, tacitly? I’m quite sure I’ll never know. But I know something rotten was involved.

Huge hidden fees and zero sympathy from staff no matter how bad you are injured. I had a serious back injury and the nurses had an attitude when I asked for assistance getting into a wheelchair. Why don’t I show you my MRI results and ask your staff if they still want to accuse me of malingering.
